family

It seems like the stores are really stocked in our area, fully stocked, there are some limits on some things but very few of them I noticed and shopping throughout the store for all these groceries is difficult, we got a little spoiled there so one thing is What I've been thinking in my heart lately is that we show you this every month and we didn't start shopping this way because of youtube and I just want to remind you that I don't want to make it seem like we're bragging about seeing how much

food

we buy, in We're actually very grateful to be able to shop once a month and we've been doing this long before things started on YouTube.

massive grocery haul and emergency food storage for a large family...

It's just that we decided to show you this part. of our lives, so I don't think there have been any comments like that or anything that says we are bragging, but I don't want it to seem that way, I just want you to know that we are very grateful that the lord provides for us. So that we can buy and buy food for our

family

and feed our family, we have had seasons where maybe we couldn't buy all the food that we now like, certain types of food, but that he has always provided for us. to be able to feed our family and we are very grateful for that and this season we have been able to shop once a month that helps us a lot because it keeps us out of the stores which helps us spend less money and We were talking today as if it were a lot of work , we were sweating loading the car, my husband and I went alone together and we were driving home saying you know what we might need, I was saying maybe we just need to get back to what we like. twice a month or something like that for a while because it seems like a lot of food and a lot of work and he said, you know, even if we went twice a month we'd still be going all over the store carrying it and bringing it. at home, I'm packing, it could be twice as much, like there were some people that came in right when we walked into the store at Sam's Club and they left when we did, we had three full carts and they had one cart not full and So we thought If it's going to take the same amount of time, we could get it all at once and we have the

storage

for it right now, which we're also very grateful for, so let me show you what we have. the month of June to beat our family of 12. we have a lot of teenagers in this house, three of them right now, but some of the younger ones eat like teenagers, here is the big basket we used at the suggestion of your boys to bring .

I put it all in and forgot to take it off the table, but it's not even our fresh fruits and vegetables and today it was Sam's Club and I had the kids carry our fresh fruits and vegetables on the middle counter, which is what I'm going to work on. my lighting here and then I show you, okay, that didn't help, okay, that helped a little bit. There are three eight-pound bags of oranges here, so that's a lot of oranges, and two bags of romaine lettuce, by the way, I'm growing it when we cut. Someone has eaten one of those oranges when we cut the romaine lettuce we have been putting it in a little water and we are waiting for the roots to sprout and we are going to plant it, but these have already grown, that was also the suggestions of your guys we did it with green onions and planted them, it worked really well so they'll soon sprout roots but that takes a while I've heard so even have some in a pipe dish here and we'll do it.

The same goes for the new ones, so we are reproducing our own lettuce. We also have other lettuces growing in our garden. Hopefully that will start feeding us more in late June and July. In fact, we had to run to the store the other day. um, for one item that we ran out of, I don't even remember which one it was, but I just had to get more tomatoes, so we have another one almost full of this here and then we got one and two of these cherry tomatoes that I have two bags of lemons, The kids are going to start making lemonade and we have some limes because I'm going to make some salsa.
My sister-in-law was telling me how her kids have been eating and drinking lemonade every week, so I just got it. one of these finally I've never had one, a juicer, it was a pretty good price on Amazon, it makes lemons and limes, you just cut the lime in half and put it upside down or lemon or whatever, and she's been making his children like a cup of lemonade a day and they loved it. I thought it's a great way to give my kids vitamin C and lemons also store really well, which I'll talk to you about in a second, but my sister-in-law.
She has a video of exactly how they do it and even how they boost it and make it more nutritious and healthy and she told me that the video will be out next week, so if you are interested you can follow her channel, it's Camp David Adventures. I have a bag of onions, we still have some onions left from last month, so that's good, and I have a lot of potatoes. We also have this bag. We love to snack on them just dip them in homemade ranch dressing which I love too so those two. I don't know how many of our kids also eat three big bags of russet potatoes, so I think I showed them two bags of russet potatoes and then this box of salad and romaine lettuce, so we used the romaine lettuce to wrap like with sandwich meat and cheese and salads and then we eat this first because it goes bad faster, romaine lettuce lasts longer, then we buy the mushrooms whole and cut them ourselves instead of buying them sliced, they definitely last longer and then you told us We should keep them in a paper bag, which also works wonders.
I was surprised how long they last. Actually, someone here is eating grapes. Those won't last longer than today. We have eight bunches of bananas. We try to make them a little green, but honestly, sometimes we can eat them in three days. won't last that long and four bags of these little oranges oh three bags of apples two in the middle we tend to go back to the store mid month just for milk we usually get about eight gallons of milk for two weeks and then we pick up more fruits and vegetables , but I've actually been working in an

emergency

food

storage

room and I'm not really sure if I'm going to show that on camera, but there are a couple of things I'll share with you.
I've been thinking about it a lot and it's something we've never done and we know we needed to do and I'm still starting to work on it now that the stores are full because I definitely don't want it to be that way. adding to the chaos and taking things off the shelves that other people need but right now the stores in our area are very full so I've been thinking a lot about how we could do that and we're still very healthy because obviously there's just a lot of stuff being put away in a pantry are not necessarily healthy foods, so the conclusion I have come to is to buy a lot of the same things that we normally buy, things that will last a long time and then buy them. from our pantry and then replace it all the time so that there are only a few exceptions of things that I have in stock that we wouldn't eat all the time, like some canned fruits that are sugar-free, and those would be great desserts that we can eat from time to time when and some bags of baby food that would give us good fruits and vegetables for the little ones, something we wouldn't normally buy, but we could also use them when we travel to use them.
I just don't do it. I want the food to go bad, so I buy normal noodles, we eat normal rice, we eat that kind of stuff and I try not to panic. I buy anything we would normally eat anyway. My sister-in-law Jill mentioned her. a lot of people today, but she has a lot more experience with long-term food storage than I do. A lot of people talk here because we are a lot of people anyway. She had some great ideas for me on how to store potatoes, oranges, apples, onions, lemons for months. at one point in cardboard boxes, she told me to make sure it was in a cool, dark place, which is perfect for our storage and to keep the onions and apples separate from the other fruits, from what I have read, and he also told me to make sure you only use perfect fruits or potatoes, that kind of thing and check on them at least once a week, so that's my plan.
We bought a little more potatoes, maybe a little more oranges that will actually last a month. We generally buy oranges. only for two weeks, so I'm going to expand on that just to see what might happen, try to have that type of fruit for the whole month, so I'm starting to experiment with that, okay, let me show you. the rest of these things are fine here we have his and hers caffeine and we have this. She had never tried it before, but I have heard wonderful things. We like Lacroix and we entertain ourselves a lot because we have a pool.
This is our first full summer with a pool so there are a few things here that we have just for summer entertaining that I'll show you as we go but that would definitely be one of them and we got toilet paper like during this pandemic guys. up to two rolls at a time but yeah we are trying to stock up you can only get one at a time so we have been to sans a couple of times this month just to get one because we go through more than one a month so here you have some frozen things we have frozen and frozen broccoli we will do chicken stir fry once with this and then we have some frozen fruit underneath bananas or blueberries mixed fruits and strawberries I didn't organize this very well we will do brats once a week with hot dogs so everyone gets a bra, there's only 12 and some of my kids that wouldn't fill them up as much so we'll grill hot dogs at the same time they get a brat and then a hot dog anyway.
I have two packages of those, we have a couple of whole chickens. I like these free-range ones. I don't think they have had them in a while so I was excited that they had them because when I make chicken we cook them both at the same time. We eat them, maybe we have a little left over, but I also use all the bones and stuff to make chicken broth that I freeze and I've been out of chicken broth for a while so that will come in handy. We have these burgers. These are really the best. The good ones, these are for the company guys because we also have this package here of the not so good ones, just for normal burgers, which are for entertaining and we're doing it a couple of nights this month, so here we have hot buns dog, three packages of Those and three packages of hamburger buns too.
I'm not sure where it is. Here's a big box of hot dogs we bought last month too and we didn't go through everything, so we'll have extra chicken. It was quite limited. I got one of each type and they didn't have that many types so I got one of the normal things we get but I wanted two so that wasn't possible so we may not eat all the chicken meals I had planned. for this month and that's totally fine, we have enough food to survive one way or another for sure and then I was able to get the smallest bag and also chicken breasts.
I really wanted chicken thighs and couldn't get that either. I found these, it's a Sam's Club members brand, it's only three pounds, so we'll use the whole bag, but we could do it with the chicken stir fry with these vegetables, which would be a really good quick meal, here's some frozen. fruit that my kids like to eat once a week we make frozen fruit as snacks, they love that stuff, there are mangoes and stuff like that and then I really liked the cauliflower rice that they have there, although it's probably not the best price , but It was convenient there, so here is that big box of hamburgers, there are 40 of them, they are very convenient.
Here's some strawberry jam. Oh, this is one of the things I don't normally buy for food storage, but we'll be able to use it. this easily into some meals like chicken stir fry that would be good there so I'm going to keep this in my

emergency

food storage room, one of the few things I don't normally buy and we'll make sure we use it before it goes out to lose some cream cheese we will buy bagels later at the next store I go to salt and pepper this is probably not the cheapest way to buy black pepper, hopefully it is very good, but it was there and We ran out of ground black pepper , three things of maple syrup, had a lot of honey, but needed ketchup and mustard.
I think we only have one ketchup left. We're running out of ketchup too fast and I don't even want to talk about it.that these are also great for entertaining just having them around, I feel like they are a little healthier than regular potato chips, maybe a little cheaper in these huge bags, so I don't know if spicy ranch was a big hit around here , so we will do it. to save them for entertaining days and nights a couple of things of pretzels a couple of things boxes of chobani yogurts those are all snacks we make them on Fridays on Saturdays like if you care here are those muffins I was looking for and the triple zero yogurts.
I love that they're putting vanilla here now. I don't like fruit yogurts at all, but I love vanilla ones, so I've been drinking them and a couple of my kids like them and Solo also likes tortilla chips. for nacho night, so we use one bag for nacho night in the second bag for any entertainment or just you know. chips, they disappear, they have a way of disappearing, that's why I don't buy more. I usually have this

large

parmesan cheese. I love when I make kale in the morning it's so good with feta cheese on top, cooked mushrooms and cooked tomatoes and then pour this on top with a little sriracha mmm I'm hungry just thinking about it one thing it's string cheese that doesn't sound good oh here are the other two string cheese items for the month there are many days around here we ran out of string cheese, that's how popular it is here, but it's hard to buy more because it's not very cheap.
Last month I tried it. I usually buy a block of cheese four times, so I tried the sliced cheese. I only bought three last time, we definitely ran out, so this month I bought four and it was a big hit. The black cheese is good, I think it's a little cheaper which I like but this is a lot less complicated and the kids really enjoyed it. and in a way we didn't waste it much because we didn't have to cut it, you know, when the kids start cutting cheese, sometimes it's a big mess everywhere, at least in my house, it was worth updating just me and myself. like these, these are our string cheeses and the kids love them too, so we give them to them when they run out.
This is for our freezer. I've only been buying the Mexican blend cheese that I like, but this is definitely a cheaper route. We are making this again and I keep them in the freezer until I need them and just open a bag. We'll probably use a little more of that in a month for casseroles and all the tacos and nachos and whatever we're making. that calls for grated cheese, but I love grated cheese because it freezes well. I actually didn't buy this coconut sugar today, they don't sell it in the store now. I bought it online so I'm adding it to this because we needed it.
This is how we sweeten our kids' oats and they like it, they've been used to it for a long time and it's a little healthier than brown sugar or something low glycemic. Look at that, so I'm glad you like that healthier option and I can still find it two things of sour cream boy, we eat right between these we will get to the end of that two things of cottage cheese the same if we had three we would eat them we like cheese for here, can you distinguish four blocks? of butter times three, hopefully that's more than we need this month, but butter keeps well in the refrigerator and by the way, this and this are two things I want to stock up on eventually, so if I have a little more of this and that's good for me, I'm saving some space in my freezer to stock up on that stuff as well as some frozen vegetables, my kids have never had canned vegetables and they don't like them the two times they've tried them.
We've just never served them here, so I don't want to stock up on canned vegetables and then have a bunch of canned vegetables spoiling on my hands a few years from now. I would rather save some space in my freezer and I have vegetables that we really love and eat, I have a couple of milks, I will buy the rest at aldi, uh, usually Aldi lets me get sick so I hope that's the case because we need eight for the two weeks and this almond milk bell has been binding to the almond. Fun with milk, so we're going to use a little more heavy whipping cream, we use it for all kinds of things.
Here's how many eggs we have just because eggs are the only thing I needed at Walmart and I can't just get it online. I didn't want to go to Walmart to buy eggs. I'm just trying to stay away from as many stores as possible so we got a bunch here for a pretty good price, it was three or so for 24 eggs so that was it. It's not terribly bad, especially for free range eggs, corn, this is something I'm switching to buying in cans, it's literally half the price we used to always buy frozen and for me this is something that doesn't make a huge difference if It's canned. versus frozen because we mainly use it in things like chili or in veggie casserole or whatever so it's a little harder to tell it's not frozen and it's a lot cheaper this way and it will also save me some space on my freezer.
We have some laundry detergent which I like, but we're not very picky here. I have five of these 20 packs of whole wheat tortillas, we love them and they finally had diced tomatoes in them. Some cans of diced tomatoes that Sam has. I picked up two boxes of them, we eat a lot of canned tomatoes so I said we don't eat canned vegetables, I lied, we eat a lot of canned tomatoes and now we eat canned corn if that counts as a vegetable, raisins, the kids love it. Not me, and Thursday's snack, let's see, used to be granola bars.
I think we're going to switch to animal crackers for a while, so we'll do half, half, half and half, that's four weeks and then I was able to find hand soap. I haven't been able to find hand soap anywhere. I had to order it online last month because I usually keep them for years. I just put a little bit in the bottom of an old foaming soap or bought some pretty ones on Amazon. that are not old, you can also reuse the old ones, so I usually make them last for years and wouldn't you know it?
I ran out during the corona virus. I was able to find some online but now those prices have doubled and then I found these dupes for 99 online and knowing they're like seven bucks at Sam's Club, oh my gosh if I had a heart attack there's no way I would buy them, so I was able to find this for 6.98 today for two of them at Sam's. online club they tell you they don't have it so it was a good buy for me when I'm alone. He always loves checking out the clearance section and found this little beauty.
This won't be included in our total because it's not food, it's not out of our food budget, but it's seven quarts, ours is eight quarts, I think ours is our other one, it's a little bigger, but when we cook all at once we could definitely use another one and this thing was 27 bucks which is a good deal on clearance groceries, not my favorite thing in the world but when you only do it once a month it's not bad at all , I don't care, it's okay, the kitchen is clean, it's the end. I didn't make it to the next store that night but I wanted to show you the long-term storage solution.
Now there are my onions. I found some yellow onions from over a month ago and they were fine in my pantry, so they were buried anyway is this over a month of food probably not really oranges and apples, sure not, I'm sure we'll run out with those lemons, maybe not all the limes and the potatoes and onions would last maybe more than a month. but it's just an experiment because we usually come back for these two things, so we'll see how they work in our warehouse and how long they last. We also have a shelf full of food right now.
Someone had given us some apples. and oranges that they had that were left over for something and yes, they gave them to us, which is incredible and these little oranges that we bought will be eaten very quickly. I'm not looking to have a year's supply or anything like that. of food, I'm just thinking two or three months is all I want, just to be cautious because we have a lot of mouths to feed and as we've all seen, things can change very quickly if I could figure out how to feed them. healthy for a couple of two or three months but keep my food supply fresh that's my goal I'm back it's the next day still in a black shirt but it's a different black shirt someone else has too many shirts of the same color okay let's move on We go to Aldi, guess what guys, having a teenager who is 16 and can drive is the best thing in the world.
My grandmother used to say that once you're 16, it's really good because then if they make a mistake, you have something to take away. the keys, but I'm here to say that it's also a good thing, I mean, that's a good thing too, it's good to always have the right leverage, but it's also good because when you really don't want to go to Aldi you have a child who is very motivated to go out and do things for yourself, so Judah and Belle, my 16 and 14 year old children, went and did Aldi for me. I would trust them and Aldi any day because they have been with me so many times and know exactly what I want.
I'm going to show you what you have, but this sweet lady from church just sent us all these masks, aren't they cute? She made them. They're so cute, so fun, how would I look if that bell got one of them? she, I don't know if she used it, but she took it. Here's the Aldi Alt

haul

, although I have three gallons of milk stashed in here so I haven't taken my stuff to the storage room yet. But let me show you what I have. I told him if there were good prices, go ahead and buy more oranges, apples, lemons and limes, and there should be good prices.
My kids know perfectly well if it costs about a dollar a pound. I usually think it's a great price, it used to be easy to find but it's not so easy anymore, pink ladies, I think, pink ladies, I heard one, so they're the healthiest apples out there, so it's fun , three bags of these limes and us. I've been making lemonade today so that was good, they love it so we're going to put this in those boxes. Those three gallons of milk go with those three to make six plus the two we got at Sam's, which is eight.
We have six. of these rolled oats I thought I ordered eight, so that might have been a limit, there were some limits, but he was able to get six dozen eggs and then we got some Greek yogurt, four of these big ones and then they got something low carb . ice cream It's good that Aldi has a low carb ice cream option because it's a good price at the time, we get some plastic wrap and big ziploc bags, we get six applesauce which we have for breakfast once a week and we also make cottages. cheese and toast that day, so that will get us through.
I asked them to buy some dried beans and they were able to find out that black beans and pinto beans have been a little hard to find so I was thankful we got them. we have a box of off brand cheerios, seth is trying to eat some, but I always like to have some plain cheerios when they try to eat, so we'll use those this month or next and then some cream of mushroom soup, this is something I don't normally buy, we have four cans, but we want to make a recipe, it's actually beef stroganoff, but we have a really good recipe that calls for it, so it's worth it. some tuna, we're having tuna for dinner one night, some tuna salad, some tomato paste, just four cans, I think I ordered six tomato paste and six crushed tomatoes and he got four of each, so He said there were many limits.
I told him to get up to six if he could so we got what we could and we'll have to make a big container of ice cream but he ordered two so hopefully there isn't any in the car, not sure what happened there. one two three four five six so 12 boxes of macaroni and cheese, the one from Aldi is pretty good I think, and we have three zucchini things. Solo likes to cook some Kenyan food with it, I think he's excited to do it, otherwise just fry it up and some jalapenos. Two bags of salmon. It's a better price there than at Sam's Club.
We almost bought it at Sam's Club, but it was expensive. I just couldn't do it. I'm glad you were able to find it. I'm only making salmon once this month, the recipe I used last month, I shared it in one of our meal prep videos, it was so good we're excited to have it again and then we have three bags of cilantro, we'll get it in half . during the month again, I probably need to start growing those, oh, and more beans, so we have four bags of beans, that's great. I have very few beans at the moment and I like to make them with a dry laughing sofa stuff.
I ordered four of these. so I have to go check the car and see if they stayed, but that could have also been a limit and then this is dinner tonight, three pizzas, all the pizzas are delicious and huge, and three feeds us especially because That's how it is and I don't eat much. pizza over here we have mountain bagel there are ten bags of bagels here we eat them on Sunday mornings it's anice quick breakfast when you run out the church door most of my kids eat like a year and a half and then some fruit if they are still hungry but yes church is starting going to actual physical church will start in june , so it's a good thing we found them and then there's some sprouted green bread.
I told them the stores were well stocked and we're doing great here, but I may have spoken too soon because Judah told me that he literally couldn't get bread. We were going to get 18 loaves for the week or month. Instead, he said there was a loaf and it was totally flattened, so we have I've been putting off making sourdough bread a lot, but we have a sourdough starter that someone gave us, we've been feeding it, we were feeding it every days and then we got lazy so we started putting him in the refrigerator and feeding him once a week but Judah has really taken charge of that and fed him we ordered a kitchen scale and a bench scraper because all he We see it's like you need those two items and now we're all set and we haven't made it yet, so now we have the perfect one.
Sorry, we really need to get used to making sourdough bread over and over again. I love that it has a lower glycemic impact. It's better for you. We have to do it guys, so I hope that happens. It has to happen. I checked the car. There really wasn't any more food there, so I don't see where else they could have put it. I'm not sure why there would be limits on ice cream. Maybe they just found one there, I don't know, but I also sent them to Trader Joe's, so, let me show you what we have there, oh, I found the second ice cream when I was putting this one away, someone put it in the freezer, good kids, I have Mike and Tori, we're helping them set things up, so someone must have done it. just save it now, the only thing I'm questioning is the laughing cow cheese limit, that doesn't seem quite right either, but I guess it could be real.
Well, this is what I bought at Trader Joe's. They couldn't find kale at Aldi. very fresh kale, so I asked them to bring me there are small bags that I probably eat almost for a breakfast, but it's okay, I would love to eat kale when I have it, I eat it and then it's gone and I don't eat it for a while, so okay, they gave me four chocolate bars. I love the just light, just kind of guy. I love it so much. I have never tried dark chocolate with almonds. Bella also really likes this chocolate and alone, so not this.
It doesn't last long when we usually get six peanut butters. I asked them for a little more for my storage. You know, it's nice to finally have peanut butter. This is what I got from Walmart, literally just four boxes of whole wheat spaghetti noodles. and then four boxes or eight boxes of these, we make two boxes for lunch once a week and we make a pasta sauce to go with them. I just ordered this online and didn't want to go into the store and they had free shipping so that's how we did it today. I also have another one of these chopped gingers coming from walmart.com that hasn't arrived yet.
If you're not sick of hearing about these yet, my plan now is to have a full bucket and a bucket to eat in, so when the outside bucket runs out, we'll slide them in and that way we'll eat them and not just eat the last ones, so We will have two boxes or cubes of each thing and these gray ones. Here they have many holes so that they receive good air. I'd love to know if your stores are fully stocked or what it's like where you live. Do you still have to make do with things or can you get exactly what you need?
Do you want our price to be higher, we notice that some things prices are definitely higher here and some things are pretty normal still, lastly, I would also love to know if you are stocking up on anything extra or are you waiting a bit before starting, do you? It is not like this? Are you ever going to do that or have you always done that kind of love to hear your opinion on it and any tips and suggestions on how to store healthy foods? Thanks for watching today. Now I'll give you a summary of all the money we spent.
For this month you can see if we stayed on our budget of 1300. Sometimes when I say that budget I forget to remind you that we actually buy our meat once a year last year we bought a whole cow and we kept it in our freezer and that's what We eat from you, you don't really see us buying beef very often, except for those hamburgers and all the beef hot dogs. It also helps keep our monthly costs down and we are eating good meat, good quality meat at a very good price. so keep that in mind, we'll probably be back mid-month for maybe some cilantro and leche.
I can't imagine it'll be much more than that at this point oh bananas thanks for watching I hope you have a great June and we'll talk to you again soon bye
