Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Diamond Nationals 2012Jun 08, 2021
they are known as Daredevils but in reality they are man and machine with the common goal of going as fast as possible but when you push extremes things can go wrong the conversations are universal and it's always about winning if you're going to win a championship Lucas Oil Speedway is where it's best to ride the fastest
boats in the world have been prepared it's time to go
racingthe skies have finally cleared here in Wheatland Missouri at beautiful Lucas Oil Speedway for the second annual pet food awards all-natural candidates Diamond
dragbone Nationals presented by Lucas Oil hi everyone ken stout and Alan Reinhart here to fill you in on the action of the Lucas Oil
racingseries this resort is a big part of history a year ago it's ours maiden voyage here on this lake and it turned out to be very exciting it's definitely state of the art it's one of only two facilities where we held the ser ie
lucasoil track boat regattas which were built specifically for regattas most of the weeks we are on either a river side or a calm lake side of the Bay in San Diego but in this place you don't have to worry about the waters turbulent, you usually don't have to worry about wind problems. it's just let's see how fast their boats go at 260 miles an hour let's talk Top Fuel hydro 8,000 horsepower twin prop monsters the big dogs are in the house and ready to take down but the big story on Top Fuel is not a rating.
Because of the rain in the last few days, they set up the field for points, so the qualifying races of the practice races no one has had a chance on the lake, so a boat of three or eight thousand horsepower and we're going to run out of practice, well I'll tell you it goes back to the crew chiefs giving the right hand to get the setup right inside the boat and then the pilots or test pilots as we call them have absolutely no fear so they will stab and steer you. I'm afraid that the onboard camera shots are sometimes closer than even me. i want to get to that stuff spea king of an onboard camera shot which is an awesome view of what we're about to see here at this facility and speaking of this race track let's talk about that Alan when Forrest Lucas got involved in trawl boats, he wanted to build the ultimate race track and that's exactly what he did here in Wheatland the boats come out onto the waiting road they are faced with a Christmas tree floating towards the center of the lake some of the classes run fourth of a mile or 1320 feet but just like on asphalt they drag by lifting the top the fuel canisters the alcohol canisters are very fast kinds a single thousand feet basically gives you an extra football field of shutdown area the sequence works like this the Drivers are on a holding rope stretching across the lake behind the start line when the light comes on Flashing That's the driver's signal Start the boat Go rify the gauges Get ready to go You have to anticipate the starting line A countdown will appear on the Christmas tree Choose your number and count Do it wn from nine, step on the accelerator and if you do it perfectly just as a clock reaches zero, the green light comes on and you get to the start line, of course if you do it early you will get a red light which is a disqualification. of this facility and part of the pit area here it is we are ready to race fuel style there are some of the craziest people on property our rescue team but we absolutely love them we absolutely need them here are our
lucasmarine products for one of these boats have five hundred against power plants in them burn nitromethane weigh about 3,500 pounds with a driver and full of fuel produce about 8,000 horsepower let's take a look at the stairs courtesy of General Tire six premium fuel canisters on property for remember not to qualify this was submitted for points Daryl Ehrlich the points leader gets the number one spot and it's going to be a great round with six boats the winner of that six boat matchup will have a direct fire race to the final jeff gregory behind the w Whiskey River heel owned by Jay Hartunian that's the nitro cackling inside a big old Hemi and this was the matchup he was telling me about because that's Daryl Ehrlich the problem kid owned by Eddie Knox's cog that's a bad fast boat but not qualifying without practice normally at this point you already have a couple races under your belt your level of comfort I think it would be a little more it's the baddest boat on earth and the defending champ and he's up and he's charging hard at the other end of doing what Fast Eddie Knox and Daryl Ehrlich do 359,246 miles an hour and a thousand feet that are they're putting ken on that thing i thought was on fire even after the parachutes were up normally you see the fire coming out of the heads but that thing looks like it is still burning absolutely good idea daryl get out last thing you want to be is strapped to a cockpit with nitromethane burning below you, there's also a look at jeff gregory at e3 spark plug sponsors.
The red machine seems to be fine, but it's the Eddie Knox tune machine that Darrell drove earlier that has a bit of a problem, he seems to be hearing a bit to the left as well. burning it's sinking is what it's doing you know what happened ken i think the nitro somehow got under the pod there's not going to be any way the rescue guys get to that and put out the fire oh yeah, it's burning big down there bad deal for sure a rescue and we talk about them before we have some fun how crazy they are but without these guys i'll tell you right now no one would go for a run and that's how fast it can go down now the good news about where we are is that it's not very deep, so the rescue can do its job and do it quickly.
I think they sank that thing on purpose. The only way to get the water out under the pod will be the ship in the bottom let's go on board with the problem child and see if we can figure out where the problem developed oh yes the butterflies closed you can still see the fire in the back of the boat, great take on board, courtesy of General Tire, CP Pistons, korilla rods inside that one, remember when I said? you that that onboard camera was as close as i wanted to get this is what he was talking about it's burning right under the pod no wonder he wanted to get out of that thing and we should also say he goes next to GEICO here those nitro methane fumes are choking to say the least, make your eyes water, nose burn, can be difficult if he's in the helmet, let's talk to Terry Boyd, he's with Darrell early.
The round gets the win but look at the pot man you guys were on fire for quite a while yeah that was kind of ugly. I don't know exactly what happened, but I knew he wasn't happy. fast to the end and then something went somewhere. I think maybe the fuel tank ruptured. He was breathing very well. A small fire inside the capsule while it was happening. Unfortunately, we had to scuttle the boat to put out the fire. There was a lot under the capsule. and out front but hey my boys love a challenge I gave him a good one he just went 250 miles an hour he was on fire he laughs about it and you said the rescue boys were crazy and he was sniffing nitromethane all the way good Here comes another crazy rider We talked to Scottie loaded earlier We said hey take us for a ride One of these things The moment I launch Oh that and it's Top Fuel hydras like you get shot out of camp , you go out there sinking the rattle in there and drop the rope and voila soon we'll hang out and just slide back in the seat hold on baby when you get out when you come in coming back down the track she shakes and vibrates a little throw that first you know the second reach section and she's like pushing and sliding down an ENIAC then you can sit down you know it's just one of those deals and keep in mind we just saw him dart in with that shot on board and his whole body moved up seat belt they use our ratchet style belt they literally ratchet themselves in there it's tight as they possibly can that's what 8,000 horsepower will do and these things are absolutely harder than their tarmac brothers on the race track it's amazing the g force these things pull the props they're fighting the water and well not much slip their pods down it's time to go oh and look at the heavy launch unfortunately it launched too early turn on the red light it will go the other way - kevin kenzley no that's not a typo that's kevin and kenzi picks up a wind going to round two he also had a negative reaction time remember that one of the other things that succeeding in qualifying are drivers f Find your comfort level at the starting line.
Let's go upstairs while Lucas Green Products takes us in the helicopter. You see, they both left the rope a little early. He is the first striker. They both committed the same mistake. It was a bitter miss for Scotty. Heavyweight Kevin Kenzley is declared the winner, what a great shot from above, all alongside Brian Sanders, fresh out of the Pro Mod category at Speed Coke Tequila Sunrise, and is a champion within the Pro Mod category, which is a category of index in which they cover the quarter. seven second mile Darrin Sylvie behind the wheel the sport special Lucas Oil Speed a name that is synonymous with drag boat racing one of the greatest teams of all time sylveon's second place in points right now now you know that Darryl Erlich already won his round but he also knows that Darryl had the big fire the project may not even be able to come back for the final target both guys sitting there waiting on the starting line for a while but Jarrett Shelby is going to an easy win as he walks away with an impressive 359235, the speed isn't quite as quick as Erlich's, but he's there with him in a hundredth of a second by a couple thousand when Geico once again takes his side by side From the far end of the leg, look at the Lucas Oil boat on your right hand side of the screen, which is a pretty picture perfect hydro run.
Sign up with a fourth member of our team. Here's Kenny Sargent. I was so happy that he was saying things off camera that we won't be repeating but it was a good race Sylvie absolutely you know Amos is starting to get a grip on our set up and drive the truck up there that's the fastest we've ever it's been so far this year and i think we have more in store it was the fastest it was a surprise we were hoping something would come up now don't believe it or not when i was driving by i was a little scared that Brian was in front of me when we got to the other one At the end they turned around and said it was a 59.
I said here we go but you know it's a little weird the faster you go the smoother it is so I should know better by now. what you have to do is take a look at the reaction time that's why it felt that way stay with us alcohol hide throw away the platies we are going up during e3 the spark plugs were born the burns and for geico saving people money on mortgages for sure welcome back to nominee all natural pet food second national
diamonddrag boat presented by Lucas Oil time now for the alcohol categories we have two different flat bottom alcohol and hydro alcohol both are drastically different Allen flat bottom alcohol It's been called the fun cars of the water, literally, it's these toughest machines to drive in drag boat racing. hydros look like Top Fuel for different title with that being said let's race before we do let's take a look at 401 won courtesy of Lucas marine products methanol for car fuel around 3,000 or so these boats are not as heavy as the better fuels still handle thousand foot force and one of the other big single prop diffs where the top fuel guys have the twins there are four four boats going to dodge of course weber and loads of them are teammates flat alert and has dyrdek will live alongside those two guys and try to take the tomato boats out of the competition thanks to General Tire for giving us the lineup there's one of the Joel Weber tomato boats and what a tomato for that team's hired gun from Bob Pizza yes he is a great driver for sure although I have to tell you Bob Pizza is deadly improved after a solid year a season ago so I found out we'll go how things move here it seems like the boats rolling forward only a l A bit as they turn them on it's not uncommon for exhaust to push those things now alcohol canisters unlike Top Fuel canisters had a chance on the water in qualifying, but no one has really shown they have control over this place. however, it sounded like someone actually burned the problem and the other side that is theBladder who got into a lot of trouble finally had to pull the plug on that one which was an ugly pitch, to say the least.
Hall of fame time but somehow got the win 536 only 146 mph blättler when he stood on that thing looked like he tried to bury the right places and it really came off the side let's tackle first with he told a Weber courtesy of e3 the spark plugs sounds honestly like the weber boat tripped a bit, it might not have been running on all eight cylinders, that could be the reason for the late reaction time and the lab being a second off the base; however he will pick up the round wind here we are going to our next merit Robert PES dyrdek final notice and they will line up next to boss and Bob pizza Bob pizza didn't run and qualifying and we just saw with his guy if Bob should be sitting there wondering if he's going to be that not the eight would be because those boats normally from a performance standpoint are pretty close when bob stalked here two and the reaction time department just sitting there for a while it's almost like they want to make sure everything is okay before they take off as a qualifying round, unfortunately for Bob these are random eliminations and like Dyrdek, he will win the round here with 508,182 miles per year. pizza hour with a faster both laps but gave up half a second at the starting line yeah that low is what they call a hole shot when you have the fastest boat but still you get to the losing end now when you take a look at the fuel and power looks about the same they don't make as much power but the drastic difference here in this category is all the Allen they are so hard to drive these things are always right on the edge of general control Tyrell give us a look at how the four flat bottoms line up in the semis as we prepare to pick up the action well and picking up the action here we'll do the semi final round here with the final four there's a look at Dan Rogers in Speed Freaks Flat Black Russian and Of course Black Russian certainly brings back great memories of the arm jars to compete for years with us here in the flat bottom category, see a number of sponsors on the side of that one including Pat heads, which is goggles which are available at Walmart there is a look at the spirit of America's George Pataki which is a different combination there Allen it's a top fuel jet if the team of pilots who are new to the sport are still getting their feet wet , so to speak, the fact that qualifying got rained out really had to hurt them when you're trying to solve a new combination Wow doing a great job right now with no fuel inside that me no nitromethane they're burning all the alcohol right now, but he goes out there he runs a good pace 585 136 miles an hour not bad at all especially considering two miles an hour there kinda yeah that's slashing along a jet boat so will advance to the final round point nice Carlotta that's the Lucas Oil Shazam he's been the all-conquering flat bottom for the last century pretty close he's a confident drag racer Tommy Thompson behind is e lucas oil helps them out too and then we have the boat and the flat hammered flat hammered jeff stewart white cooler love the name but as you can see he would love to have a sponsor on the side of that one to get a little help.
The only qualifying race we had as a steward was actually faster than Tony's Carlotta and how about this? He turned on a light. he big time i mean walk away from him and then have a better reunion too we may have to go back to the record books to find out the last time lana's scar stayed on and she ran off that's not normal modus operandi for that oil lucas boat but oh well carlotta left early that doesn't happen often another look here from Speed Co drunk lube and tire pod her data looks like the boot of the boat Tony's first, but better hook up, is the white far side, but definitely let that wire -connect Stewart and George Pataki in the final round.
I don't know if you were filling out a scale sheet, but that's not how I did mine. Contact Kenny, well guys when you approach a resourceful driver. I should be a little excited but you're not that excited because you thought you had better tuning there and you run a slower time yeah it's our first time here so my brother is starting to try to figure this out he told me he's given me a hot rod I guess we got lucky Tony your crew is so good it really was good to beat them Jeff never apologize for winning hey when we get back check out the pro mods first those seven second shooters are going to Duke. here at Lake Lucas don't go welcome ba Go to the key today all natural pet food 2nd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals presented by Lucas Oil as you can see families are having a blast here yeah an artificial beach for swimming too, let's talk about the index. class this is called Pro Mod and the goal is to run the quarter mile in seven seconds it sounds pretty simple what's interesting about this is because of the rain the last few days a lot of these competitors have only had one race they normally do three or four to score it's also the biggest class to make it back this weekend 14 boats turned up the tribe that makes it very hard to get out here on rope and we say sounds simple trust me it's kind of fun these guys are as good as they come and can split hairs yes they run on methanol and have a supercharger for the most part what's a time? we see a turbocharged machine here of course the rates we talk about seven seconds and they run the full quarter mile up speeds 165 175 miles per hour right in that area somewhere they also get a little help off the coast if they're doing it okay yeah they'll have crew members on a radio to tell them if they're too far ahead slow down a little bit because since you missed it before if you get separated you're going too fast you can lose you're going to the Box hit everyone we're picking up the action here on the round number two the seven ships that survived to this point there is marty logan protect the crop that is them living the dream bug he and the twins always have fun when they come here they protect the crop certainly because that is much loved in the woods the heartbreaking Lucas party Logan saved one right there I don't know how he wasn't living the dream at that very moment but he was living I promise you it's something that this s boats rarely do, probably get the win on a 708, good reaction time, probably Anna too, but that was a big move off that boat. far light back to the helico pter and watch courtesy of Lucas marine products all good thereafter marty put it in second gear boy a denim shortage smiles and walks and said lose the round but saved the ship in my mind thats a win looks like you could have cut a buoy right there at the finish line just as we jumped aboard the Shannon Beale split decision for Shannon and that first round free ride giving her another test and adjustment race that many of the guys didn't get, of course.
Sean read one of the best in the business, yes a champion within the category, not a guy you want to lure in round number one, but they're all harder to draw here, they'll miss the bullfight. Read with Vinny Niki's new titties backhand shot yeah you don't give Shawn that big of an early lead he's just flat too good head broom he's off the throttles the only 168 mph 7:10, elapsed time deals with Shannon Beale and if that ship is seen. familiar should yes absolutely Kevin Kinsley cant paint that one and top alcohol hydro for ED Basilio let's get on board with Geico on Sean Reed's boat beautiful pass here this is what a Hydra is supposed to look like you said before it is one of the best in the first round his reaction time to point one six zero so he came after here and round two consequently he goes to the semis and he can talk to Kenny.
I reached out to Sean Reed. I said, well, you're about to make a habit of this. bragging, right? Yeah you know when it wasn't a perfect run of course I raised the traps a bit and probably knocked out a few hundreds but that point would have put me at a no seven maybe but not my style but you know we don't have many . You know there's no proof back here. so you go home anyway, I'd rather stay on the right side and you know people beat us so that's what we're doing. what to do today we should say round one he won a 706 so performance is in the pot as we watch mike lamb from behind just one more a clamp we have edged out jimmy brewer in round one of competition in At that time Travis Tuttle put a 718 on the board so from a performance standpoint the boats look pretty close.
He shorted the big Lucas Oil sponsorship fuse on the side of that red, white, and blue machine, and he overtightened it. Travis Tuttle turns on the red light. a hundred and a half That's how important reaction time is by pushing it so hard, but that's a bad start. A credit to Mike Lamp where credit is due. It's almost perfect in the tree and not too bad on the track. Yeah he did a great job certainly on a double Oh 1/8 line which is Nate thousands of seconds to perfect then he puts a seven Oh up on the board in the O's you're running a decent number there's a look at the special day of speed jet meaning fuel that's going up to max ate now the horsepower monsters are ready to go, fans packed the house here at Lucas Lake for Diamond Drag Boat Nationals All-Natural Kanima Pet Foods Presented by Lucas Oil marine products and they've been treated with a lot of different things including smoke, fire, nitro and this one that's for sure let's talk to Eddie Knox and get an update Eddie Knox let me ask you real quick I know you're buried back here what's your preliminary forecast do you know well it doesn't look like the engine blew it looks like we ruptured a fuel line somehow the Nitro was ignited with the heads and it went back up and blew the fuel tank as you can see the problem turning it off as they just had a full 10 or 15 gallon canister of nitro and some oil I think we'll be fine we're just going to get all the electronics out just have them boot that's it I think we'll be fine as you look the fuel cell is completely broken on top.
You gotta love the optimism as General Tire shows us the semifinal la dder one thing to keep in mind in Lucas Oil's dragboat racing series: you don't have to make a purchase if you don't want to, so Darryl Ehrlich is will sit in this round which will basically give you an extra hour. and a half to fix the boat there's no way they could have traded it this fast travis travis ler and the general tire gang have gotten behind Kevin Tinsley here in this Top Fuel hydro effort and he's going to be paired up with Jared Sylvie Sylvie again with a special sprint sports team that is owned by Lou and Mary Ann Osmond and they have been around the Kentley bug goes silent just past the start line and Silvie makes it to the final 362 235 miles per hour speed it's basically an instant replay of their first stint on that ship as he said, starting to get some consistency at that point, consent from the back for the final round where they'll face Darrel or assuming they could fix the problem.
I think those guys were happy with the race, wouldn't you say? part of that bunch right there, a legendary Hall of Famer, we're following more than Jared Silvie and Lucas Oil Speed Sport Special, just a nice solid clean race around Lucas Lake, both of whom look like championship contenders right now, we know they are in the final round. where they're scheduled to take on the trouble kid and Darryl Erlich of course after all the trouble they had in the first round I'm not sure they can come back I'm sure Darryl sat down earlier and had a chat with Kenny sergeant Darryl , how did you get involved in drag boat racing?
Well, he was a machinist. There's a young man and he built engines for some of the guys who run these things and they had hot dogs. The lake boats used to go do it and one of my friends. he talked me into getting on the tether points for his boat man so i took my first look at the track it was just that it was the hook and sinker line did you ever walk in the mirror to see a department store window look there and go away i'm the fastest man on the planet in the boat you know it's funny because i don't feel like that i'm just another guy out here doing what i love to do and i don't think be the fastest guy ever i just think how lucky i am to be on a boat that works like this every time it goes on the water and that's the truth one thing really is we've talked about this way too many times darryl butyou have been involved in some very violent accidents how does that affect you? we get on the boat now, when i crawl in that pod, it's the most peaceful place on the planet for me, if something bad were to happen to me, that's the place i would do it.
It's just one of those things that you know we all know the risk of it crashing is part of the excitement of it all. I guess you know if it was safe and it really wouldn't be what these stabilizers are. nowadays it conveys the gym pistol bullet we drive a hundred times more stable than anything we've ever had before par That also makes everyone try a little harder to make them go faster. There used to be a thing where people would get to the point of this is enough. I don't want more than that, but none of us have that feeling.
I mean Eddie knows it and he can do whatever he wants with that boat and I'll love every second of it give me more Darryl I've known you for several years here and I've seen you through and through before it was actually San Angelo so it's good say i could still sit across from you and you can still throw the ball with me and be a part of this thanks for hanging out. Hey, absolutely, but he's a tough competitor, to say the least, and he's very good. what's up we're back what with the robots back in the water stay with us we're here at the candidate all natural pet foods
nationalspresented by lucas oil marine products there's a look at the stalls right in front of the runway land here at Lucas Oil Speedway and yes the go-kart track has been wide open since the gates opened there is something here for everyone it is a multi-use facility here at Lucas Oil Speedway of course we are focusing in the lake right now but over the course of the year show me 100 diamond
nationalsfor dirt cars the Lucas Oil Pro pulling The series is coming here for its closest season and let me tell you something if you've never seen the pullers of tractors ok they might as well be a little hit and miss but today it's all about boats let's go back to Lucas lake a lot of these guys are not afraid to stick their necks out like that little guy that he's living the dream here's a look at the modified semis pro leaves and cane will join together with lamb and fighting i think this is one of the three days a year that little guy doesn't like living here you get a little sporty there in the front yard mike lamb trying to get to the final round if he can wriggle past kyle brawley now remember this is the seven second index class you can't g or faster than seven seconds and it was the biggest class we had up to the final four the blue boat from fort worth texas trying to make it to the final round a tweet with missouri another big wheel standing there outside the yellow bug o45 reaction time side -side by side graphics on the other end what a great battle of that's all about Pro Mod how about a 7:05 beating a 704 on a full shot?
You said it before but both solid reaction times Brawley declared in the throat 176 miles an hour but I couldn't get there fast enough that's the race for the day as Lucas's ecos get us back in the chopper , you can see these babies next to each other, tell me if you think you can pick a winner without electronic boys. at the finish line kanaday all natural pet food shows you a margin of victory of six thousandths of a second at 176 miles per hour my clam six thousandths of a second that's about a foot did you have any idea did you win the race? we got off and then got out of the cab and talked on the radio for a bit you had to pull a decent line yeah we had a no 37 light our last light with a double O eight light so I needed to back off a bit and I did and everything worked as it should that was a number 34 but today what the street does between friends you know and he mentions something I mean it's so hard to do we try our best to explain to you how close that is to a double Or eight or eight thousand or thirty-eight thousand but physically adapting is extremely difficult because we're not talking about the amount of time it takes to blink so physically doing it is very, very difficult, we're also talking about a moving race track , it's not like a car that you park, sit down, we're talking about real game adventures, okay, the other half of the semi final, Sean Reid, on the other side, Robert Lee is in the white boat and this baby will be all Sean Reid, that's not exactly a m aravilla, the reaction times are almost identical and 7? :01 concentrating on that double seven oh please I didn't hit a slump in 705 yeah I wonder if Reid stepped up after that interview and in the previous round said he wasn't going to mess with it he felt like he could have had a seven in the pot, well needless to say he has an O in the pot and he's closing in on six seconds. going to win this the fans are having a great time here on a beautiful day the candidates all natural pet foods Diamond drag boat Nationals presented by Lucas Oil marine products have enjoyed some great racing action here in all our categories no doubt in the modified pro category we also have the sportsman here the open boats and they are always so much fun to watch and they run so hard here is a look at the final and top alcohol hydro it is time to start the crown and champions Joel Weber was probably expected were here robert piss dyrdek maybe not when you face bob dietz in the first round, that's not usually a way to guarantee longevity in your day, but hey, that's why we dragged him to the holding rope and gave him we did a race with pizza' it was very late in the Light Roberts will run in the final and see if he can take on Bob mate that tomato to watch out for.
Joel Weber did a 536 in the first round, it was Miss Dyrdek, who did a 508, so she could have told the quarry button that she is leaving too. early this finished robert was going at 14 ooh he'll have to pick up the pace to hang out with webber if they put one together and they did even if he didn't nail that light perfectly he probably didn't have enough to hang out with webber . here today 201 mph which is low et is top speed on pace and that's a winner saved the best for the last few spark plugs III to get us on board always wanted to ride a hydro alcohol at 200 plus it's easy enough from there, I'm not even scared now that I had them up l Ditched the front points and set it up perfectly after that, charged hard, well what did Joe ever do all year?
He qualified number one and won every race, so what's he doing here at Lucas Lake? we are so glad here in weiland it turned out to be a nice day a bit wet a couple of days gone by but it turned out to be a great sunday set up some wonderful numbers a boat ran well got some good competition allowed see the boat show up lucas hydro winter all speedway running for the championship joe weber yeah that's what you deal with joel lever and bob heaps and when those heads have a couple of looks in the water they are stupid throwing numbers like that ok? let's go to the beginning alcohol flat bottom general tire shows us the ladder how we got here to the final round george pataki now remember it's not an alcohol flat bottom it's that fuel jet they're experimenting with that they came here this weekend weekend basically just to test and adjust it hey if the brake falls their way they might walk out of here with the trophy and as we all know the Diamond Nationals trophy is one of the most coveted and dragged boat races despite that this facility has only been open a couple of years tacky alna pulled the rope there and tried to align the boat if it looks like she actually aimed the boat right there to straighten it out as much as possible so when she lets go of that rope she pulls the pod cap down they're sitting there for a moment with absolutely no control over it seems a bit later it'll be worth it boy it gets a good reaction so much the better a load is hard on the other end, but you won't have enough to get you through. with Stuart Stuart with a 561 will take home the hardware here today, the tacky Spode almost looked like the plane's popup had opened before reaching the finish line where the art sprays not water behind the boat that is a little safety element they have you got the flat bottom jeff stewart you're on board the winner you know we keep talking about how difficult these things are described it's good today you made it look easy it looks easy from here that's for sure a great job jeff Stewart let's talk to him I don't know if anyone is more surprised by this championship win here at Lucas Oil Speedway than the guy behind me Jeff Stewart you seemed a little flabbergasted coming here to victory circle I really am I don't think I've sunk in yet, but holding this thing is just fantastic.
This place is fantastic. Lucas Oil just did a wonderful job. We love having you here. Cool. calm down. Jeff. They just won a championship here. run Tony scar Lada in the first round don't end up holding the hardware at the end of the day and lead with number one and number two and the points in Pro Mod as they prepare to take on the big boys stories happening here Pro mode Mike lamb current series points leader Sean Reed second in points I'll go to you first Mike, what does it take to beat this guy? I'm gonna let him stomp on me a little too much and turn on the red light let the head games begin that's a great strategy if you can get it right we'll find out who can stay true to words and ProModel we're back we'll have the best neo bibles too hydro, this transmission has been brought to you by Optima Battery, the ultimate power source candidate natural pet food company, and by Lukas Marine Products, it's time for the final round of bro mod and fuel boats here in Canada every natural pet food Diamond Trawler Nationals presented by Lucas Oil marine products let's go Terry Boyd with more on Top Fuel it's ok Jared Silvie ready to hit the water we just talked to Darryl guys are archenemies but best friends away from the water, it's the way you absolutely want it to play out.
I would love to see him in a final. great team got their deal together but i really think Famous Amos my team we screwed it up we did it and we are running pretty consistently today if i can get out the gate we could give it a run for sure they have been looking for money since building the new boat before we get to that race let's tackle this category here sean read my number one clam number two and the points lamb would have loved to win his first team is hot within this category. Sean Reed would love to win another one.
You heard some trash talk on the launch pad. Well, the time for talking is over. last word had to get off the ramp a quarter mile from now seven s second is the magic number Mike lamb Sean read the best of the business lamb said he was going to turn the light off Reed said he was going to let him go see whats up ho-jon we predicted it he slams turns red trying to kill on the starting line his winner sean reed check him out. 704 Lam was even better in 7.02, but as Nostradamus predicted red light for the Yellow Boat and that's the end of the day here at Wheatland. in the near lane through the nose sadly only a few gallons 18,000 per second is less time but it was enough time for my clam to come in second and Shawn read the winner hey victor goes Kenny Shawn Reed chasing Mike Lamb well. you chased it all the way which of course you take the championship here at Lucas Lake with the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series, more importantly you beat it and you are one step closer to getting the upper hand From that point, yeah, you know.
Mike has been in ugh since the beginning this year and we struggled a little bit at the beginning but you know we have to keep winning and he was on the opposite side of the ladder and you know I have to mind my business I was hoping he would go to go out early but he didn't so you know I get them when I get them and then we have to round up and steal three rounds with two races to go and then we'll see what happens and you want your first race of
2012baby Shawn read a little closer to get that points leader which is a championship that will stretch to the very end. troublesome kids names which are synonymous with Top Fuel hydro you can see the burn marks on the side of that one keep in mind they scuttled it earlier today after it caught fire they scuttled it to put it out put out the fire these guys work Hardly there back on the holding rope, these guys would.
Gotta be on the Lucas Oil Speed sports special it's been all sunshine and rainbows for those guys today as well as the thrash man in between rounds they never got a chance to heat up the boat a couple of unknown amounts here in the last race final of the day oh this piece wasn't special completely underwater he threwthe nose and it looked like problem kid was on fire through the lights look at the mud on the right front points and where he dove it's so hard he was at the bottom and now Daryl Ehrlich and drives him on the beach on the rocks , what a crazy final round, well, that's one way to keep you from sinking, man, parallel park that thing right there, look at the mud, dude, your champion is on the beach, your runner-up is climbing. he got out of the pod after trying to turn that baby into a submarine as you mention all the mud in the front got stuck right at the bottom of lake lucas you could see him moving in a pod okay Daryl Ehrlich Daryl wasn't mad when he was on fire and he went under he certainly isn't going to get mad about being a winner on the beach you know he thinks he did a good job I mean I parked him right here for you there's a look at Jared Sylvie great job thumbs up for him, he's fine.
He always checks all drivers first and foremost to make sure they are okay. Once again, support our rescue team. The skies are always there. Let's look at this one more time. Upstairs you buried the sponsors and the professor drove it right to the bottom oh this should be a good shot remember at the beginning of the show when I said I didn't want to ride one of these that's why I know. shot from the Optima batteries instantly to the bottom underwater that's how much horsepower these things make to begin with but let's go through the process here keep in mind your breathing apparatus in that fully sealed helmet and a bottle there to know he's going to be okay luckily for him he's not in a deep lake or river there he is thumbs up he's basically saying I'm okay to rescue the rescue stops right there and now that the seat belts are loose he'll open the canopy, which is usually something they don't want to do, but with the water coming to the rescue there, he knows it's okay, he'll pull the lever here. the canopy and going out everything is fine except our camera yeah I tell you what man everyone downstairs had tears in their eyes for a moment except you until you saw your son he was crying quite a bit yeah you know I don't know that he doesn't like to see that, but we're fine, everything's fine, it was a weird deal, not sure what happened, but you know I've been, I've done the exact same thing a couple of times before, luckily. it's not very deep here come back up no big deal everything is 100% you're fine now we're fine we're fine no big deal good to see you man glad you're safe wonder what he would call a big problem for me , that would be a big deal, well, while that was going on, here's what was going on: your winner is speed code, truck, tire center, sh Now instant replay wait let me guess all good , there is a beach coming up because she was going to the right towards the beach but she didn't stop her fast enough.
These hydros don't really have much direction at that point, well you can never accuse Lucas Oil's drag boat racing series for lacking drama and you can never accuse this team for having monster drama on a last day, can you? how did you do that, friend? There's a simple reason for all of this these guys standing here and the other eight in the pits the most amazing people on the planet I mean I gave them this big ugly rotisserie it's a crunchy bug and they give me a hot rod all over it the mail. What can I say?
This is all. These guys are vastly expanding the points they need for their
2012Lucas Dragon Boat Racing Series championship paper. I don't know if we ever mentioned it. 3.6 seconds 246 miles per hour in the final. the mail now and we've seen a lot first time I've seen one pull mud out of the bottom after two perfect races it didn't even come off the start line it's been a crazy race here at Lucas Oil Speedway hope you guys enjoyed all the action it's been produced this broadcast Lucas Oil Productions for Kenny starred in an Alan Reinhart I've kids down thanks for watching Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series
