Pritchard
joins us this morning I still can't quite believe we're having this conversation I really can't I only wish we were here I couldn't read over the weekend at all I really couldn't and I'm sure we sort of all felt like that this morning I think everybody did because whether or not you followedCaroline
's career closely or watched any of her shows she had this massive impact she was verymuch part of a broadcasting landscape very much part of people's lives because she was so ever-present and for me yesterday even just sort of cracking on cooking the roast dinner there was this sort of this Paul if you like hanging over just your day-to-day I'm sure many people felt this at home so if you're just day-to-day activities and carrying on with that because the news just came in such an utter utter shock on Saturday this well-documented she'd been done and awful lot of
pressure with this impending CPS trial which you've mentioned there a lot of anger after the initial shock coming out on social media and in the papers today as well setting that aside the facts are all too plain to see absolutely horrific a body was discovered on Saturday in the afternoon discovered by her father after her friend Lou alerted her father to the fact that she couldn't back into the property and she'd actually been staying with
Caroline
for a while and this is comingoff the back of course of reports that paramedics attended the flat as well on the Friday and they assessed
Caroline
and and we're told thatCaroline
said no I don't really need to go to hospital in that and they thought she was in a better place tragically clearly it seemed that isn't the case so you can only imagine what it must been like for her to be in that fishbowl in under this enormous amount of pressure understandably LaVon was taken off the air this weekend we have astatement from ITV here many people had I to be knew
Caroline
well and held her in great affection all of us are absolutely devastated at this tragic news after careful consultation betweenCaroline
's representatives and thelove
dIsland
production team and given how close we still are to the news ofCaroline
's tragic death we have decided not to broadcast tonight's Lavina doubtful respect forCaroline
's familylove
Island
will return tomorrow night which will include atribute
to
Caroline
who will be in our hearts forever so that sir obviously tonight will be paid on the show which she absolutelylove
d shelove
d nature and and and she completely under then she went she hosted she was so synonymous with and you guys must have felt that very much soCurtis
and she was you guys became friends because of the series yeah she was a such a big part of the show which everyone knows and the foot I remember the first time I met her actually it was a in a recalling it was so wedidn't get a lot of time to talk but she was so professional so incredible at what she did and then I remember we met after the final and actually got to have a real conversation she was
love
ly probably thanks Pat and I will tell you that that is what a lot oflove
Island
our contestants say actually and as I just said on Good Morning Britain she was always there with the trademark hair flick but she was there with a hug as well and she would socialize with everyone after which in a veryvery inclusive she wasn't one of those sort of turns if you like that pulled the ladder up you know once the show was done and she would disappear oh no she she the pusher very much part of the band it's sort of a difficult week then for Laura Whitmore imagine Richard I mean they were clearly friends she obviously took over the show yeah um hi just that's time with Laura I know she did a radio show yesterday that's right incredibly emotional about what had happened she was in do
I know Laura very well and of course her partner Ian who's that the voice of
love
Island
I went out tolove
Island
to South Africa and and Laura very much felt that she was holding the baton you know and thatCaroline
would return yeah you know um that was the place she was in and of course she was as you say Christine she was incredibly emotional on her show this weekend we can have a little listen to that it's heartbreaking actually it's so difficult to listen to us and and we doyou mean the irony nice social media has been very much used for the I pouring of grief and rightly so but it's coming on I hope that actually no one gives Laura Whitmore any any trouble or any snake or any grief because she was a great addition to that to the show
love
Island
and I hope that people don't push towards her saying she's taken a job or anything like this I just wanted to get that out there no well as you say it was merely holding the back yeah absolutely adore hadparalyzed full support when she took over the job obviously more
tribute
s coming in from from celebrities and stars alike Anton tech tweeted we are both devastated here the news aboutCaroline
Flack
it has beyond sad beyond words so tragic our thoughts and prayers are with her family rest in peaceCaroline
Ali's was just heartbreaking over the weekend as well if you read his Instagram post he says my heart is forever broken I've lost something today that I'll never ever get back andthat's you and of course they hosted the ex back together they were very very good pals Louise Redknapp posted this at
Caroline
when things were tough for me and you were going through equally such a tough time you reached out to me I was so proud to be your friend you were our girl which againCurtis
echoes your sentiments are very much part of thelove
Allen family very very inclusive and finally from Cheryl this is just so utterly gut-wrenchingly tragic I can't even find my words restin peace Clara and Louis Burton of course her partner who
Caroline
because of the impending CPS case couldn't have any contact with which in itself is heartbreaking he obviously posted and retweeted post thatCaroline
said you know in a world where you can be anything be kind and and that is the topic and that's amazing no I think we need to be more in 2020 now like I don't think people should be using social media for a way to to comment in negative ways to people because it reallydoes have a massive impact it's alive and you know doors you know this
Curtis
and it when it's in black and white is so difficult to escape it you can come off the show and have a dozen positive comments and then you just see the one and you just feel utterly crestfallen and you think you know you might be in the public eye but what you do you deserve this amount of scrutiny it's from people that you've never met and it's very easy to pick a phone up or a computer and youknow anonymously write something else on it and I think all right but then how do you change it then you think well actually maybe we just all have to be accountable if you're willing to put something in black and white I have to have the right to be in touch with you then in fact I have to go really thousands of people you know getting online with a petition today that you know the legacy would be ideal if we can take anything from this awful tragic event
Caroline
's law you know wherethe source is that so many of these stories that are online and in the press are at
tribute
d to that they are accountable know that they come under the scrutiny and they are culpable yeah if that happened and we got to that stage because that skips it need some yeah much bigger issue than than just a show or being a celebrity because this toxic conversation is happening in every workplace and it's happening in playgrounds god forbid and and we have to pull this back I don't know how wecan turn that tie back but we have to do that and you you've helped it yourself didn't you
Curtis
when it when you leftlove
island
then you're sort of thrown into this world that is an alien one and it really is because we we go in there as just normal people and we come out at a hundred percent you know it isn't we've we've been thrown into it fifty percent we come out and you are straight in the public eye and that's incredible so I can't say a bad word aboutthe show because it really is incredible and it's helped me loads but if you aren't prepared and you don't have somebody to talk to and that's why I encourage people talk to somebody no matter how small no matter how big the problem there will be somebody out there that will listen and people just need to talk get things off your chest you
