on this desktop that we can possibly do, you know the great thing about this video is that you're going to make some money. I'm not going to spend money on production costs and we're going to pay some bills because we're going to talk about today's sponsor. Everyone knows it's owns.tv. aesthetic needs whether it's overlays, alerts, banners, whatever you need, they've got it, plus one of my favorite things about them is that they're all modular so if you and all your friends go out and buy the alpha game design you're looking at here which by the way we did together I think it looks great none of you are going to have the exact same overlay because you get to pick the different pieces you'd like on yours if you want to make the smart move like a lot of the done community feel free to use the link in the description below which by the way helps support the channel so thanks and if you want 40 off at checkout be sure to use the alpha code so let's talk what we're going to do here this is my desktop i use for things like unboxing and equipment checks experimental stuff we do right here i would like to make this the tran

look good for next to nothing and we are going to go to d o all that stuff that includes making your camera look good that includes making it your lighting looks good, which in turn makes your camera look good, we're going to talk about your audio, we're going to talk about control interfaces, a

setup for the cheapest possible, super important by the way, because everyone has different game settings, everyone wants different frame counts, if you're playing Animal Crossing you don't even need 1080p, if you're playing Valorance you're going to want in minus 140 frames so PC gaming PC streaming PC console Whatever we're not talking about today we're

ly talking about producing your stream so it looks good for your viewers It's pretty cool too that we don't use a pc because we have like a ryzen 9 and a rtx 3080 in there that would really push the budget no need we're not talking about it let's start turning this into a streaming setup to do this had to pick up a couple of stuff just loc Ally so I headed to the nearest lows, grabbed some LED ceiling lights and command strip hooks to hang them on.

I didn't know exactly what brightness to get the lights so I grabbed this one which is like a three different brightness level model it's a bit more expensive I imagine we can find the best brightness and then you can grab a cheaper model. Then I ran towards the target. I collected some tissue paper to use as a light diffuser. Then, I got a bit distracted by driving around my house to see how good the progress looked. started going home picked up some ramen on the way and here we are let's put it all together ok? So the first thing we're going to do in this setup is set up the lighting because the lighting ends. being more important than the camera in many cases, a good camera will look terrible if the lighting is terrible, so we took the bulbs, put them in the overhead light that focuses the light forwards, and then covered them with this fabric.

What the tissue paper does is it diffuses the light so instead of it coming from a single small source the bulb is now coming from a very wide surface area this gives the shadows on your face a bit more blurry, it smooths them out a bit and it's something you can do for literally 50 bucks. We're also going to use epocam, which sets up your phone, since your camera is only about eight bucks, and let's face it, the camera that's on the phone in your pocket is already ten. times better than any cheap webcam you can buy and it looks like this which is honestly pretty good I think looking at it now I probably would have gotten a bulb that was a bit cooler this one is a bit too orange but not terrible and this was super cheap so if we pay 16 for the bulbs 20 for the dome lights 50 bucks for the tissue paper and 8 bucks for the app plus you can get a desk mount for your phone for 12 bucks which brings us to 57.50 i think more what i can do w With my phone i can make my camera super wide like most iphones can do and on this 1080p display that allows me to do some cool stuff like that I do in my current scene and give it an ultra-wide look by filling these gaps with overlay or maybe move it up here and have space below for my alerts.

This is exactly how I do my current scene on twitch right now. Also another thing I would do is go super wide to get a scene like this and then my game scene what I do is just crop like this and now we can jump back and forth between full screen ultra wide and a nice crop on my face to the game and let me compare this to another 50-55 dollar logitech c920 setup which actually looking at amazon you can't get it for less than 80 bucks right now so it's actually a more expensive setup even without the lights most of what we spent was our lighting because that's so much more important than the camera itself especially in low e and so if instead of spending eight bucks on an app and then most of our money in lights if we just bought an 80 webcam it would look like this so if this is what you're after go for it.

Let's move on to the audio in terms of the microphone, we have opted for my favorite cheap microphone, the razer siren mini, we have used it in several tests, it has won each and every one of them and just to get the microphone closer to my mouth we are going to put it in this boom arm, so with the mic being 50 and the arm being 13.50, that brings us to our last total was 57.50, right? I can't even remember if it was 5750 anymore which brings us to a total of 121. for our camera our camera mount our lights our mic and our mic mount this is a pretty solid looking broadcast setup you can absolutely gain an audience from this That way no one is going to come in and complain about the quality of your stream if it looks like this so what you're listening to on this mic right now is plugged directly into the computer with no effects no plugins nothing on it if we wanted to add EQ and compression I would adjust it to sound like this so you can see there's a slight difference before and after we got maybe a little extra clarity a few better levels so I don't go too high or too low sometimes if you're looking to add these types of effects to make your voice stand out a bit.
We've done a video on this before on how to make a cheap microphone sound like a studio one. mic so i'll link it under this actually this is killing me wait i should have fixed this sooner that's better ya know and by the way don't worry about the mess you guys know i'll be moving on two months. i've given up i've given up on keeping this place clean it's just not going to happen the new place will look good but the last thing we would need in a cheap broadcast like this is some kind of control some kind of cheap version of a broadcast deck eg so you can switch between your scenes very easily.
There will be two pretty solid free options for you. The first is the touch portal, in which there is a free version. You are limited by how many scenes you can add to it and how many buttons you can use basically but it's still free however we are currently using our phone as our webcam so that's not an option for us what What we're going to do instead is use our fancy little number pad here if you're relatively new to obs and didn't know that. you can go into your settings and get to the hotkeys and you can find all the different scenes for example we have our cheap camera scene or cheap game scene we're in our cheap game scene right here if we set our number pad in num lock we can set this to one and we can set our cheap camera to that big number zero which makes life really easy note these are different than standard you can see I just wrote there or zero vs number zero two totally different buttons so you can keep using it when you're gaming and use one, two, three and four to change your weapons or whatever you use and then go to your numpad and change your scenes like that let's check to zero, let's press one, but if I press zero and one above the keyboard, it does nothing from zero on numpad one and there we go we have our little broadcast platform.
Free streaming sitting next to our keyboard The last major piece of the puzzle for any streamer is their background or their room A lot of streaming feels like a person is sitting in the room with you hanging out and if you have a really cool space , it makes for a much nicer experience so I have two options for you, the first option I would like to show you is the one I used for a long time are these relatively cheap rgb spotlights that you can buy online that light up your entire room in one specific color eg blue most of these come in two packs so you can have a second one that lights up the other side of your room a different color and you can have a mix and match situation I have a second somewhere I couldn't find it i'll wait in the move no big deal but these are about thirty five bucks for a two pack and these can do a really nice job making your room look more exciting or making it jump off the screen you may notice that blue is usually the opposite of skin tone so i have a bit more depth in my room right now , since my face appears in front of the blue but another option you can do which we have done a whole video on and it works especially when your room like mine is a giant mess and will be a mess until we move but as you can see in this video you can take a picture of your room or any other room or any room you find on the internet blur it a bit and then we take the walmart sheet 10 hang it behind us and then we project ourselves green in front of it room we were in but we blurred it a bit by turning our eight dollar camera into wh looks like a full dslr and that option cost us about ten dollars so sam i lost by c omplete the notion of how much everything costs at the moment, but if we were to do the green screen version, I'll let sam do it maybe. we'll put it on this side what's here is the total for the green screen version and then here will be the total for the version with the spotlights which should be 25 more than this side and that's what we're looking for a grand total for a very well put together broadcast setup let me turn that light off real quick the purpose of this video is to show you how low the initial investment can be just to get you started and at least recognize if this is the career you want to pursue no one wants to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars in equipment only to find out that you hate editing you hate twitter you hate social media that happens sometimes it starts with a very small initial investment you gain experience in the industry and as things start to look up to start me invest in your equipment but hope this helped hope you enjoyed the ride if you have any additional questions be sure to head over to my twitch channel i stream every mon es, wednesdays, saturdays and of course happy streaming. do you ever need a vt route i'm me i'll still work for you everyone has a price come on mikko have a backbone.
