We are about to begin the

install

ation of a designer

metallic

epoxy

floor system in this commercial space. You can see that the space previously had a baseboard pattern on the concrete slab and the owner of the space no longer wanted to see this pattern, so all the joints were filled with

epoxy

plus two part quick patch epoxy crack filler. Now the

install

er is doing a final clean on the floor, using denatured alcohol with a microfiber mop applicator and running it over the floor just to pick up any remaining dust or debris that may have settled before beginning to install the floor system.

You also want to make sure the room you are working in is not warm. Here you see the thermostat is set to 68 degrees and the actual air temperature. inside the space it is 72 degrees, the colder the temperature in the room, the more working time the epoxy will have to dry with heat, so the warmer the air temperature, the faster the epoxy will want to set and start to dry, and the less working time you will have, so to get the maximum working time lower the room temperature as close to 72 degrees as possible. You also want to make sure you store your material in a cool environment before using it.

In a very random pattern, he holds the cube down so it doesn't splash any walls, however he wants to do it. See that some tape has been placed along the baseboards and this is so that none of the epoxy product gets on the baseboards.

This will come off during installation, as you'll see later in the video, but the metallic epoxy is spreading like this. It's the first

color and he's just pouring ribbons of the material randomly around the floor. We recommend that the epoxy plus designer metallic epoxy be installed at a rate of approximately 60 square feet per gallon so that the room has been measured and divided into manageable sections. In order for each kit to cover the recommended square foot coverage rate, here you can see that both colors of the metallic epoxy have been poured onto the floor in random bands or ribbons.

The two colors used are golden orange and

wine

red and one of the installers has a flat squeegee and he simply pulls the material from side to side, he doesn't put any pressure on the squeegee, he pulls it from side to side, you just spread the material out and don't even care about covering every square inch of the floor at this point. period, you are just moving material, there may be one or two empty spots and that's okay, that will be corrected once the floor is rolled. The other installer has a small roller and is simply pushing the material up along the edges, making sure the areas are against the walls. and the cabinets are covered with epoxy, so now that the metallic epoxy has been cleaned and spread across the floor, it's time to start rolling the epoxy.
Here the installers use a 18 inch 3/8 nap roller without shed or a shed resistant roller and he is just getting started. from one side rolling up and down across the gap without putting any pressure on the roller simply spreading the product out this helps move it to level it on the floor it is covering any bare spots that were missed with the squeegee. You will see as it rolls you will see roller marks and as it continues to roll the pigments move helping to create that marbling effect, it is loosening them from the epoxy and they can move across the floor to create their own unique look, you will also notice that the installer wear baseball or soccer shoes, they have cleats on the bottom, plastic cleats and this allows you to walk on the epoxy leaving small holes instead of a large footprint, these small cleat holes can be easily removed. covered with the roller, so here you see that the first roll has been completed on the floor, about five minutes have passed and now the second roll is about to start, so you will see that the roller marks most of it.
Some of it dissipated within five or six minutes and the pigments started to change in the floor, starting to create that very organic marble look on the floor, so the installer rolls the floor again, this again is helping to move the pigment on the floor creating that unique look of the surface, so again it's an 18 inch roller that you're not putting any pressure on, it's a pretty quick process and it moves from side to side making sure you're rolling the entire surface of the floor and for this laminate process to be carried out. three or four times in different directions again with our epoxy plus metallic epoxy, you have up to 45 minutes of working time depending on room temperatures and if you are working as a team this would be enough time to drain the product and roll it back several times, typically working in smaller sections of about 360 square feet and this can usually be accomplished in about 15 to 20 minutes.
You will also notice that the installers walk slowly on the floor as a word of Be careful, the floor may be slippery, as remember that we apply the EPE 300 water-based epoxy primer to the floor before pouring the metallic epoxy on the floor and the The floor may be slippery at this point, so you will need to use some caution. The small steps move slowly that way you won't slip or get hurt. Here is a close up view of what it will look like while rolling the metallic epoxy. Now, when you see the roller moving across the floor first, you will notice that it looks like all the pigments are mixing together, almost forming one color and you are losing that definition between the two colors that were used on the floor.
This is normal and as the epoxy begins to set over the next few minutes, you will again be able to see the colors separate within the epoxy and you will begin to get that real marble look on the floor. You will also notice that the shoe marks are the marks from the installation cleats that are on the floor, but as soon as you pass it, you will see that those marks will disappear, so on your last roll of the floor is when you make sure that all The marks from your heels or shoes have been removed so that they do not remain on the Epoxy Finished, you will notice that at the beginning of the project we put some blue tape along the cabinets and also along the baseboards, this was to prevent the epoxy from pooling on these surfaces while rolling, but now we are When removing the tape, we recommend that you remove this tape before the final laminate of the floor, so it may take about twenty minutes of application.
If you do it now, it comes off very easily. Very clean lines if you wait until the next day. It is very difficult to remove and in fact you will have to cut it with a knife, so to recap this installation, the floor was primed with epe 300 water based epoxy, it was done in black color and then the metallic epoxy was mixed design using two colors, one orange. gold, the second, wine red, the installers poured the epoxy on the floor at a rate of about 60 square feet per gallon, poured it randomly in bands or tapes, then took a flat squeegee and moved the epoxy across the floor , they pushed the epoxy. on all edges and corners with a small roller and then an 18 inch roller was used to roll the floor and begin leveling the epoxy.
This has already been done twice and the tape protecting the baseboards has also been removed and now you see the The installer begins the final function of the floor, this is just to level it one last time and bring those pigments back to the top and do that move and move within the epoxy. This all happened in about 25 minutes last time. The back laminate of the floor has been completed and you can see the roller marks are fading. This will continue to happen for the next twenty to thirty minutes and the metallic pigments will continue to move and change within the epoxy creating this unique one.
