we are about to begin the

install

ation of a designer

metallic

epoxy

flooring system in this commercial space; you can see the space previously had a lace pattern in the concrete slab and the space owner no longer wanted to see this pattern so all the joints were filled with the

epoxy

plus the quick patch epoxy crack filler two part now the

install

er is doing a final clean on the floor he is using denatured alcohol with a microfiber mop applicator and wiping it across the floor just to pick up any remaining dust or debris that may have settled before the start of the installation of the

metallic

epoxy flooring system you also want to make sure that the room you are working in is not hot here you see the thermostat is set to 68 degrees and the actual air temperature inside the space is 72 degrees the colder the temperature is in the room the longer working time the epoxy dries with heat so the hotter the air temperature the faster you want the epoxy to Set up and start drying and you'll have less work time, so for maximum work time, turn your room temperature down as close to 72 degrees as possible.

You should also make sure that you store your material in a cool environment before using it. this applies to the buckets you will use to mix the epoxy, so the metallic pigments were pre-mixed; in this case the colors being used are

orange

and

red so the pigments were pre-mixed and now you can see the installer starts pouring some tapes or bands on the floor, he does it very randomly and just making sure of filling the first section of flooring to be installed in a very random pattern, it holds the bucket low so it won't splash any walls, however you will see that some tape has been placed along the skirting boards and this it is so none of the epoxy gets on the baseboards, this will be removed during installation as you will see later in the video. but the Allic epoxy encounter is spreading this is the first

color and he's just pouring strips of the material randomly around the floor. measured and divided into manageable sections so that each kit covers the recommended square foot coverage rate, so here you see both colors of the metallic epoxy have been poured onto the floor in random bands or tapes, the two colors being used they are orange gold and

red and one of the installers has a flat squeegee and just pulls the material back and forth doesn't put any pressure on the squeegee pulls it back and forth just spreading the material doesn't even give it concerned about covering every square inch of the flooring at this point you are just moving material there may be an empty spot or two and that is ok that will be corrected once the flooring is rolled the other installer h like a little roller and you are just pushing the material along the edges making sure the areas against the walls and cabinets are covered with epoxy so now that the metallic epoxy has been wrung out and spread over the floor now its time to start rolling the epoxy here the installers use a 3/8 18 inch nap roller with no shed or a heavy duty shed roller and he just starts rolling one side up and down across the gap without putting pressure on the roller, just roll out the product, this is helping to move it around to level it on the floor you are covering any bare areas that were missed with the squeegee you will see as it rolls you will see roller marks and As you continue to roll the pigments move around helping to create that marbled effect, you are loosening them from the epoxy and they can move across the floor to create your own unique look. bottom plastic cleats and this allows you to walk in the epoxy leaving little holes instead of a big footprint these little cleat holes are easily covered with the roller so here you see the first roll has been completed on the floor. five minutes or so have passed and now the second roll is about to start, so you will see that most of the roller marks have faded in five or six minutes and the pigments have started to move on the floor starting to create that very organic marbled look on the floor so the installer is once again rolling the floor this again is helping to move the pigment on the floor creating that unique look on the surface so again it's an 18 roller inches that you are not putting any pressure on him. a pretty quick process and it moves back and forth making sure the entire surface of the floor is being rolled over and this rolling process is going to be done three to four times in different directions again with our epoxy plus metallic epoxy you have up to 45 minutes of working time depending on room temperatures and if you are working in a team this would be plenty of time to spatula through the product and go over several times usually. you are working on smaller sections of about 360 square feet and this can usually be accomplished in about 15 to 20 minutes you will also notice the installers walk slowly on the floor as a word of caution the floor may be slippery as you recall we applied the EPE 300 water based epoxy primer to the floor before we poured the metallic epoxy onto the floor and the floor may be slippery at this point so you want to be careful take small steps move slowly that way , you won Don't slip or get hurt here is a close up view of what it will look like while rolling the metallic epoxy now when you see the roller move across the floor you will first notice that it looks as if all the pigments are being mixed - almost if If you use one color, you will lose definition between the two colors that were used on the floor. the epoxy and you will start to get that real marbled look on the floor, you will also notice that the shoe marks are the marks from the installation cleats that are on the floor, but as soon as you walk over it, you will see those marks wash away so on your last roll of the floor is when you make sure all your heel marks or shoe marks have been rolled up so they don't stay in the finished epoxy, you'll notice that at the beginning of the project we put a little bit of blue tape along of the cabinets and also along the skirting boards, this was to prevent the epoxy from building up on these surfaces while rolling but we are removing the tape now, we recommend that you remove it prior to final rolling of the floor so that such a time about twenty minutes after application if you do it now it comes off very easily very clean lines if you wait until the next day it is very difficult to remove and you will actually have to cut yourself with a knife or, so just to recap this installation, the floor was primed with the epe 300 water based epoxy it was done in a black color, then the designer metallic epoxy was mixed using two colors, one orange gold, the second wine red , the installers poured the epoxy onto the floor at a rate of about 60 square feet per gallon poured it randomly in bands or ribbons then took a flat squeegee and moved the epoxy across the floor pushed the epoxy on all edges and corners with a small roller and then used an 18 inch roller to roll the floor to start leveling out the epoxy this has already been done twice and also removed the tape that was protecting the baseboards and now you see the installer begin the final feature off the floor this is just to level it out one last time and to get those pigments back on top and get them to move and drift within the epoxy this has all been done in about 25 minutes it has been completed the final roller of the floor and you can see that the roller marks are dissipating it. it will continue to happen for the next twenty to thirty minutes and the metallic pigments will continue to move and change within the epoxy creating this unique one of a kind designer metallic epoxy floor
