Learn to do a Burnout in a C8 Corvette!

Jun 01, 2021
uh what's up guys good morning welcome back to the channel welcome back to another video last time we installed the 100 millimeter throttle body on the c8

corvette

unfortunately we haven't been able to go test it yet our next test tuned is in Bradenton on Thursday however today is Tuesday and I'm too impatient to wait until Thursday to try this so let's go out and get a 60 to 130 because I think that's the best way to try it so no I don't worry about traction and all that, but before we did that last time we did 60 to 130 we put the attack blue air filter on with our stock throttle body with solar performance port, so I want to go ahead and take out the air filter because I installed it at I think 12,000 miles and now I mean we have about 24 or 22,000 yeah we're sitting right at 21.6 it said 21615.

So that blue attack air filter It probably has 10-12,000 miles on it. so I'm going to go ahead and get that thing out, let's go clean it up. I'll show you how to clean the air filter. After we do it, we'll go out and do it 60 to 130 times. A couple of quarter mile times I also want to show you how to do

burnout

s in this car. A lot of you have asked me on the channel how I do

burnout

s on the track and all that, so I'm going to go ahead and show you how to walk.

Guys, see step by step how to do it, so to get this air filter out we have to get all this stuff out of the cargo net. We need to remove these supports. I think we need T15, if I'm not mistaken. Yes, T15. We have four on each side, so after you take these two brackets out, you'll have two of these guys that are in the bottom corners here, they're a little bit crooked, so just turn them counterclockwise and pull them clockwise. right. Outside, this is what you connect the cargo network to just one in each corner.

Now we get those guys out. This mat should be lifted like this. So we have, I don't know, 18 to 20 of these uh T15s holding the cover. about the air box, I just want to get them off real quick, so I counted 19 bolts that will take this cover off, take that bad boy off and now we can see our air box, so it looks like we have six bolts attached. the air box lid are all eight mils two three, the bottom ones are a little hard to see but they're down there so after we take those six out the lid just pops open and voila we can see our air.

The filter, let's see, is removed quite easily. I can't really say if it's too dirty, but it's worth cleaning after so many miles. Oh yeah, it looks dirty and if I'm not mistaken, one of my subscribers told me that I think there is a mod. What can they do to the airbox to increase airflow, it might have something to do with these two fins, I'm not sure if I have to look it up but maybe we'll do it in a future vlog, we'll cut out some of the parts on the air box to get better flow and see if that makes a difference, but let's go ahead and clean this guy up, so according to the attack website bluefilter.com, to wash the filter it looks like all you need is just soap and water, no oils, no chemicals needed, so let's get a bucket of soap and water to clean this bad boy, so I added some dish soap to the bucket and by the way, I'm going to fill it up very quickly, guys, if so. everyone likes the t-shirt, the website is active now is rwdmurch.com.
We've got a couple of t-shirts up there, a black version, a white version and then some bumper stickers. Let's fill our bucket here. I think I'm just going to submerge the air filter directly into the bucket maybe just let it soak for a bit and then I'll probably use the hose and push from the inside out to get all the dirt and gunk out of the filter and then I'm thinking that I'll probably just leave it. I've been here in the sun for about an hour or so and the water is getting pretty nasty, brown and dirty.
I'm glad I did this right. I'm going to let it soak there for about I don't know a minute on each side. Alright guys, so we let it soak here for a while, check the water, before it was clear, nice clean water, now not so much, so let's go ahead and rinse it, we're going to go from the inside out, okay. go and rinse it all off, take all the soap off her man, she already looks much cleaner, the airfield is blue again, much bluer, look at that, that's great, I like it, I like how you don't have to use oils nor chemicals. this like the kn air filter and stuff like that and all the oils and you get all the intake and you ruin your mass air flow sensor and all that not this guy so I go from the inside out just pushing out all the dirt and any another thing. it's in there but you can see how clean it is, rinse it off a little bit on the outside this could be a game changer guys we could go to the track and run like a 10-7 tomorrow I don't know.
It will be quite hot, it will be a little difficult to beat our records now that we are in summer, but we will see what happens, maybe we will run tens in the heat now with all these modifications that would be great because before. we run like eleven one eleven two eleven three depending on how hot it was, well, I think we rinsed it pretty well, I'm going to try to get as much water out of here as possible and then we'll let it dry. It shouldn't take long here in the sun while we have the air filter drying in the driveway.
I want to show you the air box, so when we went and installed the solar performance 100 millimeter throttle body, I told you there. There were pretty much two ways to put that thing in: removing the intake or removing the air box. Looking back, now don't go the entry route, go the airbox route. It seems like maybe it's a little bit. More work, especially to remove that air box, but when you guys go to put it all back together, it will go back together much easier. I had to sit there and put that entry in place if we did it.
If they've gone through the airbox, it would be much easier to get in piece by piece, so if you're shopping for a solid performance throttle body, a 100 millimeter thumb body, or even the 87 ported to 91, go down the road. of the air box. Alright guys, our attack blue air filter is completely dry, it's now blue instead of black like before, so let's go ahead and install this. I'm not going to force you to watch the full installation video because you just watched me take it. everyone separate, I'm going to go fix this, we're going for a ride, okay guys, a lot of you have been asking how I do my burnouts when I go to the race track, what mode do I have it set to?
What no, I'm going to go ahead and show you all of that now, so when I'm on the track I always put the car in track mode, so we go ahead and turn the dial to track, all good, so now If you're in track mode tracking, so what you want to do is press the trash can traction control button twice, so just press one, two, not like back to back, super fast or it won't work, you have to do it like one. two and then you'll see esc mode appear, that's what I keep it on every time I'm in a drag race.
You can do a burnout in that mode or you can do a burnout with the traction control completely off to do the burnout with the traction control completely off you just want to go and hold the trash control button until you see the trash control off, it's probably about five or six seconds, let's see esc off, so now everything is off, it's ready to boot, so this is the easiest way to do it. a burnout, um, which I've noticed, although on the track I don't have enough time to jump, there's a lot going on with the cameras and stuff, so I usually just stay in competitive driving mode, do my burnout there and then, uh , launch.
Yeah, with that, esc competitive mode is what you want to use when you do launch control. I'll go ahead and throw the gopro 360 in the back. I will show you a burnout. twitch control is completely off and then I'm going to show you a burnout with the competitive boat on, so our first burnout is going to be with the traction control completely off, pull both paddles and floor it. let it rub up to 6500 rpm you're going to release the pedals like you're releasing the clutch and it'll turn them on so here we go this ain't no rubbish control oh man she had plenty of grip.
Right there, like a lot of grip, I didn't like a lot of burn and burn, they had grip, that was crazy, we lit them up, although I saw a little smoke back there, so now we're going to do a quick one. Exhaustion with it in competitive driving mode here we go, I pulled both paddles back, I don't know if the roads were different or what but it seemed like it had a lot less grip than the first one so maybe it's doing it in competitive driving. The way is the way to do burnout, okay guys, what we've all been waiting for, it's 60 to 130, let's see if we get to nine, here we go, we're going to turn this curve and we'll all take off. alright guys here we go 6130 let's beat those nine sixty guys we almost cut like half a second off our uh six to one thirty we did ten two was our best before so ten eight to ten two to nine eight five holy cows guys this is all feels so much better now it's so smooth, ships are awesome, goes up to 6500 rpm, shifts smooth, big, nice, oh man that's awesome, that's awesome, wow cool, now you know that throttle body 100 millimeters will help.
You guys out, I've got half a second, half a second, that's crazy guys, I'm super excited for Thursday. I can't wait to get to the track, I mean, I already knew we were going to be faster because Lewis said we threw it a little harder on the road, but man, half a second, that's pretty impressive, but anyway Guys that will do it for the video if you want to get some merch head over to rwbmerch.com if you want to get a solar performance accelerator. body, head over to solarengineering.com use that promo code rwdc8 but as always guys, thanks for watching, thanks for hanging out, see you in the next video later.
