onion haseo welcome to South Korea I've just landed here in Seoul because very early tomorrow morning I'm going to Kia HQ and driving the e Niro in the UK in right-hand drive. I can't wait, but right now I need to recharge and go to bed. I'll see him in the morning. I'm a little disappointed with Kier because he only supplies it with halogen headlights. You can't even order it, you can't even equip it with LED headlights and you can see that they have old-fashioned traditional bulbs, which seems a bit backwards. For a car that is so advanced in so many other ways, like AC synchronous motor, I'm pretty sure everything is identical, if I just take off this kind of fake engine cover, you'll see, yeah, here we go, that's what really is. Can you see the completely flat aluminum battery case that houses all the cells? A nice, low, flat floor for better aerodynamics. Yes, it's independent suspension, so it's the same thing. the Kona independent McPherson strut front multi-link independent rear so it's pretty good, it's a good place to be in the cabin of the e Niro, what differentiates it from the normal Niro, the plug-in hybrid in the normal hybrid is mainly focused on the console here electric, the e Nero has this rotary knob here that you can shift from reverse to neutral for parking and all that, which is pretty cool and it kind of floats and it means that because you don't have a shifter or a linkage. you have a much deeper box to store things in so we have a nice cubby here a couple of drink holders in the space you left here this is nice and deep in here we have a USB socket that lights up like I said before we have Apple Carplay working in this car because what I'm driving is a UK spec right hand drive vehicle.
This car will be in Britain in the next fortnight and it doesn't have Korean navigation so I've used Apple CarPlay from the phone to mirror what you wouldn't otherwise need and then the Navan and this 8in infotainment screen is really good, simple, good for navigation, not too many buttons, you have a good amount of buttons. on the steering wheel here and this digital dash binnacle here with the two cylindrical readouts, to be honest it's all pretty simple so there's one good thing, oh and they forgot to say that this is all rubberized here, there are others storage components that you got, it's kind of like a tiered waterfall, you've got a big deep storage here, you've got a medium depth storage here that you can cover with two drink holders, you've got your floating Drive type console rotary button and then you've got this lovely one with Harry here basically for a hoarder it's perfect let's take a look at the back now like I said before this is a hundred thousand longer and the wheelbase than the Kona and those hundred thousand wheelbase are usually They benefit best from the people in the back, in the back.
You've got a decent amount of legroom, obviously it's five seats, you've got the middle belt there and yeah, you put the armrest down, a very generous amount of headroom, like I said, I'm pretty tall, I'm like 6 foot 3 , it is not loaded. things, but there's no center console, there's no transmission tunnel, sorry, which is great for people who sit in the middle, you don't have that stupid hump because all the batteries are very good and although I love to see things So, really what's going on with this car is a comfortable and decent ride, good connectivity and an incredible transmission.
I think it's an awesome broadcast. In terms of balance between performance and range for the price, it's just brilliant if you look at it. other vehicles,when you look at other manufacturers trying to hit that kind of magic 300 mile range a lot of them fall short and we've tested the Kona in the real world and we've gone over 270 miles consistently and that was for the most part . highway driving and faster driving, which means this car will probably be the same and we look at a car of this size that offers five comfortable seats and a half decent boot for £33,000 with a 300 mile range, an electric car and a fast charging capacity of one hundred kilowatts.
It's hard not to be impressed to say that, so it has these LED backlights, which I actually like because you have these kind of wraparound D shapes, whatever you want to call them, and I like that that's a nice feature. I don't love the shape of this car, I think it's a little plain and if you come this way to the front on the regular engine versions of the Niro, this is the grille, you know, and it's a hole where the air comes in, Of course, we don't need it for everyone. It has a water cooled battery and also has an air source heat pump. which can preheat your battery if it's a really cold day maybe like today my hands are freezing this is the charging port here where the little plug logo is press to open that while the Kohner had a little wrap around light like a halo of light this only has is very simple but effective, can you see my finger?
There you see it lights up on my finger, that's critical. I really wish other cars had other reviews, like my ego for example, in the dark you can't see what you're doing. I often have to take out my phone and use the phone's flashlight to see what the hell I'm doing. Enter here. You have your electronically adjusted seat obviously heated. It's a comfortable world, not particularly.
The center looks a little cheap, but the edge is really good. It has a good size. Good thickness. The designs here are very good. you can play with the screen using these thumb buttons: your fuel consumption information, your energy flow, your driving style, your efficiency and your adaptive cruise control and all that shenanigans. I have no doubt that any Fila will be a desirable and popular car, and it should be. It's an amazing package, the biggest problem with these cars is that the Kona is already available and won't go on sale until April and I suspect it will be oversubscribed and you'll have to wait about a year.
