Jelly Roll & Struggle Jennings InterviewJun 17, 2021
there's some there's some there's some minimis around here for sure yeah uh huh it's not all good man I'm flattered I think we're both people here's our knife for sure yeah buddy and here's another thing man there's nothing new you know what I'm saying there isn't none so it's like eat let's hang a dit no strings attached yeah yeah that's trying so it's like you know let's pick the plate I think what separates us from other craft artists what we do on the side frontline what the lyrics the melodies is music is music to sing with conviction they are songs of the spirit and soul and touches people so we say it in every
interviewthat people listen to our music don't get close as i love your man, then come up like me you should change our life man me and i are straight cause you know what i'm saying like me man I'm sober cause you will.
Am I not saying that is the type of television that appears next to the rocks? My name is Adam, I came from Detroit. I'm originally from here from Toledo but I came from Detroit I took the Greyhound here and then I took the Tiger buses to get here and I've been sitting here since one o'clock I love you
jellyand I love you fight I hear you every day hello hello to you man

jenningsyou were watching tv yeah whats up? from both albums for us we started to really get into the festival market so that's important to us I think right now we're at our festival hello we just played Carolina Rebellion we're playing louder than life and the Wapakoneta tug fest playing. kdl farm fairs were playing sturgis we're playing louder than life plan the reunion you get so it's big i wish we were playing this week kids rock on the run yeah i've been in music and movies all my life but this It's like a level that I don't want to get to for a long time with some people that I really respect a lot, so it's really amazing for me to be free to hide that we're doing well. capture that moment yeah it looks like I'm counting on your album yeah and then everyone may be looking if Willie the three ball baby may be December but he's coming yeah it will be this year.
I was super influenced by like three 6 mafia 8ball and MJG real Texas music and a lot of this music originally my mom used to play a lot of real soul music and I think that's where I get my tunes from my mom played like a lot of real music from the 60s. music this swing music you can tell i was rocking fifties means you can sit down she was there she was here nice and loved fifties music yes i was a big elvis fan but yeah it's the same to me man 8ball and MJG UGK Tupac was probably my biggest inspiration hands down man mine was southern rapping you know like I really didn't know that you knew my grandfather was a country singer and I, of course, stood backstage many times and listened to all his music and stuff, but I didn't really become a country. fan so I was an adult yeah the tour is going great it really is all the fans all the fans like you you can't think this has been it's been mind blowing you know releasing the album and opening that show to a sold-out show at st.
Louis, I didn't even go by the name Lucha Jennings until I was in jail and the media gave me that name. I just posed as Lucha and a lot of people didn't even know that was my grandfather, oh yeah. it changed everything my whole world changed you know i lost it all and gained it all in the same five years he's making great music now we just never focus on what no i don't like i don't like boxes at all . i don't like that life is defined by these boxes not even just you meet a stranger in a bar just the first thing you ask this what do you do for a living?
Why don't we put it in that box? Don't define who he is you know all my friends a doctor my friends a wrestler my friends a rapper it's like he's my homie he's my friend you know what I mean so I feel the same . that's just like like the government went out of our business you keep this there yeah it sold out that's real very thorough throughout that he opened was like i think he was better than any of us even with The ones I've been on every day since I was 19, I'm 23 now and we've never done a headlining tour that started like this.
I would have loved to have made someone Kurt Cobain man yeah I think that's just you know I think that guy was a genius man I also think you know he changed the way we listened to rock and
rollback then I just think that would have been cool I'm sure you understand that's a lot of what we rap about right now a lot of progs court what we wouldn't do if it wasn't for that you know what I mean so I think because out of nowhere just like hey here we are it just changed everything like i said literally you know if you listen i listen all the time and i just listen i listen to a little nirvana so what have you been listening to lately?
What's in your game of those Greta Van? Fleet we haven't been hearing nothing but Greta Van Fleet the kids ain't killing it new friend Led Zeppelin baby Led Zeppelin they are amazing how we've come to what's next we love that real man he's gonna start to be our pre- show you know if i could tell an artist i listen to my playlist is as crazy as all kinds of kevin gates george strait stories so i'm everywhere not a minute i'm extra compatriot so next minute It ends, yeah, Adele, if you're watching this, she definitely said she said anyway, yeah, we dated. 10 minutes in a closet I listen to everything man I've been listening to um carbon a lot of Mercury I go back and forth through all the old Marilyn Manson albums who we're listening to is like dude listen man I'm gonna be honest man I smoked weed from Michigan I smoked weed from Michigan when I was home I said don't stay it's last night I was like listen we're gonna keep this between us and not let the federal government know this but I only smoke weed I'm from Michigan everybody talks about California, you know, you get me wrong, I used to live in Vega.
Since I lived in California I have seen that coastline to get many times many large buildings right now but I can tell you this Scary Larry about Scary Larry our Murdstone said the real Michelle it's like it's so cold in Michigan they don't have another option but to go close your doors yeah everything oh you gotta be like you did but we know we did this off the mountain you got a fair i prefer wax yeah i'm a wax cab and i prefer the sativas. a hyper I'll take it there go to a certain town we're going to smuggle a hit man but i'd rather girl you know what's the only question they asked me how am i going to call my own weed only questions they were doing that came out cause i might be in the process my cousin Stan it's one of those things just for legalities for legalities we may have to wait until I get that paperwork out for you but trust me I'll be an Apple five it's more than a willy thing with us because every
interviewwe do they just ask me all the questions about weed how am i going Acting like we are smoking right now is not real which is not for the record it is ok because of federal statute.
Solomon speaks Quebec. I don't know. I know there are a couple of cameos. I've done it in independent movies, but I don't know if any of them actually came out, but we did a lot of acting in our video, since I said it's called baseball. I hate that fight, fight for those to be Irish, I want to make it like movies, my passion I really want to want to act in one of them write straight and produce the jelly will probably be a crazy reality game in the next five years I can't go home waiting - willie - you didn't fall in the fall but i feel like kay going home it's like that energy drive we needed it really crossed both of us and more like a massive critical mass hustler if you enjoyed this rock tv video be sure follow rocks TV on Facebook and YouTube if it's Undergrou and we're there
