Is the Genesis G90 Ultimate a V8 luxury sedan worth the price?

This is a Genesis G90 and it's not just your standard G90. This is the best. This is the G90 Ultimate, but before we get into the full-size

, let's talk about what's going on here, this is the vehicle to compete with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8 Genesis, this brand is only been around since 2017 obviously, created by hyundai to be that premium

luxury

brand, just like nissan has infinity, toyota has lexus, hyundai has

genesis

now, with this

ultimate

finish, you are getting everything they could offer to a

price

that will be much better than anything else.

Any of those German

luxury

brands can contribute, but what the

ultimate

trim promises is some naturally aspirated V8 power and some creature comforts that will make you feel like you're the king of your own rolling castle, so let's go ahead and find out. Is it

worth

going the g90 route or are you better off spending a little more money or a lot more money and getting one of those more established luxury boards. Let's go ahead and find out from the beginning what you will notice in 2020. An update took place, so it all starts at the front end of the business.

All headlight housings are new. It has LED turn signals, daytime running lights, and LED headlights. I like the way they divide the singular casing into two separate levels if you look at one. Of new Genesis models like a 2021 Genesis G80 or its first SUV, the GV80, actually have separate headlight housings. I really like that direction, but it's nice that they made a similar setup on this one now as you go down. I'm getting full functionality, functional side air curtain and air intakes. I like the way they hide everything with this very tasteful lower grille area, just a little bit of chrome in the middle and then along the bottom you can see how they extend that front end. fascia just a little bit to give it some character and some shine and then when we come across the center section, this is something that definitely speaks for itself, this huge criss-cross grille design, all finished in a shiny chrome finish, is part of that signature of

genesis

Design Philosophy: If you'll notice how everything comes to a point, it's that V-shaped point even at the bottoms. I like the way they start out very thin and then widen out towards each side of the front fascia you have. a front camera and at first you can see this and it takes you by surprise to see such a large grille, but I think especially on the g90, being a larger vehicle, it fits, especially the more you look at it now. When you get up on the hood, you'll notice that very tasteful Genesis badge, a little bit Bentley, a little bit Aston Martin, but it all looks so good, you can see the nice point there that everything is heading towards in the shape of V. the windshield fades away and then you'll have higher peaks rising from the front fascia up to the hood and going towards the A-pillar now as we come to the bend in the final trim.

What are we looking at? A 19-inch wheel has a multi-spoke design, hand-polished appearance. I like the center cap, very tasteful, with the Genesis 245 badge on the sidewall of the 45 series wide, I think in the final finish, although a 20 inch rim would be more satisfactory, so I'll give it a give half a blow It's a sexy looking wheel. I just wish it was an inch bigger. Maybe you've heard that before. I don't know, but the fender treatment looks great. I love art deco design. Look how. They take the headlight housing and bring it to the side fender area and then one of my favorite parts on the Genesis line is the side marker lights.

Now the G90 has this fake vent that I'm going to zonk but I like the LED side. position lights, if you look at a g80 or a gv80, they cleaned it up a lot and actually made it look even better, which i hope they change for the g90s in the future, but it still looks very sharp and is definitely a hallmark. brand. You'll have that beautiful pearly white on the top of the mirror caps, chrome trim along the bottom chrome trim at the top of the door handles and then of course you'll have bright metal work above and down now.

The other problem, besides the 20-inch wheels, will be that there is no panoramic sunroof. To me, having such a small sunroof on such a large vehicle doesn't make sense, so it would be nice to have a panoramic sunroof, but in the rear. Remember we're talking about rear wheel drive like most of the competition and then when we get down to the business end you can see that tail light housing see it split that's what I was talking to you about. that's what you see on the front and rear of the 2021 g80 and gv80, but i like the way they incorporated it into this g90.

Yes it is and it's very easy to navigate you get your climate controls all the different settings you could want let me put it in reverse there's our rear view camera you have trajectory and 360 and the quality of the camera is pretty clear I'll throw it back to the park and then we go back again, then I can open the map, there we go and we look at that nice, big and in charge while we slide along the silver.

I like the way they made the vents. You have the slim start and stop button and. Clipping in Rodeo Radio Controls or Rodeo Controls. I don't know if I'd put this in a rodeo, but it's too good for that. It has dual climate controls that are easy to access and then this is going to control that eight speed automatic, you have your different drive modes and then there's a little cubby with a felt lining where you can put your USB or you have wireless charging, so I like that up close you have the heated direct drive control knob. seats ventilated seats and power curtains heated steering wheel of course you have your cup holder with your genesis keychain it's a little big but you know what kind of big car keychain makes sense and then you'll have a nice soft leather open this up the Bombay doors, you have a nice little tray here for your pistachios, two 12 volts and then you could easily put, I would say, two hope diamonds in there, so if you have two hope diamonds, you should drive with them.

The car for Holloman, look how they made the Genesis logo. The leather is so perfect on this car perforated with the dark tan piping and then of course you get fully power seats for the passenger and driver and then on top. you have a light beige headliner, it's that microfiber suede material and there's that standard sunroof with a manual sunshade, which I think in this type of car it would be nice to have a power sunshade and then to top it all off yeah. Aspirated V8, you're not waiting for the turbos to kick in, it has a decent sound considering all the sound cancellation, sound deadening, glass thickness, you can still hear a bit of that rumble and I like that now of course , everywhere. Look everywhere you touch, the quality is at this level that you don't see very often with materials, is it perfect? No, there were a few things we touched when looking, like the dashboard and all that, but I think that's mostly it. It's really not going to be the biggest problem, it shouldn't be, when we compare it to the competition, very comfortable seats, super smooth ride, I mean this is just ridiculous with the long wheelbase, it really smoothes everything out very well.

I have it in sport mode which will adjust how the throttle is directed, how the transmission will behave, everything will behave with each other, it even increases boost automatically when you put it in sport mode, when you put it back in comfort and then the boost type . From relaxing and lying back, it's nice to have that versatility depending on the type of driving you're trying to do, but the visibility is excellent on this and I'm telling you it is when you compare it to an S class. or an a8, you get a lot for the money, especially certified used.

You know, the other thing that I think is really key when you look at this g90 is that when you use the turn signals, you get those blind spot cameras and I like the clarity of the screen right there in the center, so that's a touch which definitely takes back some of that bad from not having a fully digital screen, but you can see how clear it is. I love that kind of technology. it's cool, but let's do a sport mode with the throttle from a standstill, here we go with the throttle, so very, very smooth, it sends from the eight speed and you're getting the power to the ground, which is great, you know what You have that rear-wheel drive chassis. setup that really gives you a unique driving experience, very different than all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive, and getting to everything is perfect, it has the required analog clock that looks great in the center, right there, everything is fine. established, it's a little confusing going through the infotainment system, but I think obviously with practice, like anything else, it'll get easier to get the brakes feeling right, you've got those huge six-piston calipers, fully vented rotors, here we go, speed up, here we go, really, really nice. and it's so quiet here, so quiet you can hear a pin drop.

I'm going to go ahead and put it in comfort mode, eco custom comfort and I love the way it shows your genesis there on the screen. Did you see it as I was going through the different modes, just little touches like that add something extra which I always like to see, but I hope this gave you a great overall feel for what the final G90 finish brings to the table, especially with the v8 engine. It's just interesting to see this level of adjustment and end up with a Genesis product, but we're going to go ahead and go back to Fitzgerald Genesis, so I'll look at that in a split second.
