Jun 07, 2021
Hey guys, what's up? Joe is ready since Brady's promotion. I'm back here at the Mas Chevrolet Sunny Tampa Florida family and boy, did we do it again. We have a

2019

Chevy Camaro zl1. Now we present the zl1 1 le from the Mas Chevrolet family. Little mistake for me, that's Florida, but now we have the ZL because that's the full track package that doesn't have the Magna suspension, has super sticky track tires, a big wing on the rear and all that. The zl1 is more for the street now, the wonderful thing is that when it comes to horsepower, whether you're looking at a GL or the zl1, the same across the board under this glossy black hood is the LT for 650 horsepower of force and 650 pound-feet of torque, let's talk a little about history Chevrolet was late to the pony car scene, they didn't release the Camaro in 1967, remember that the Mustang was the first in 1964 and a half, but 1967 It was a great year, great cars and things just kept going up and up and up in horsepower. and the handling and everything else, finally in 2002 chevrolet decided there was no more

camaro

People were crying in the streets, rioting, flipping police cars and stuff, it was terrible, but guess what in 2010 they brought back the Chevy Camaro and now in

2019

this. It's the latest version because there's been a slight update on the zl1, it's not that drastic on your standard Camaro or Camaro SS, it is when it comes to the front and back of the business, but let's move on enough, yeah. I'm getting on this new zl1. I'm glad Chevrolet, thank you, didn't mess with the front end of this car. I loved the Sinister headlights. I really liked how everything is open and fully functional.

Check out. You walk right into this open vent. area, this is an opener that's going to get it, it literally has just one divider here, probably to stop like trash or something that maybe someone threw out the window, maybe their McDonald's bag, other than that, you're going to get the maximum air in all coolers. This thing is located all over the front of this car because of all the heat that lt4 produces. I like the lower lip spoiler integrated right into the front fascia, so this menacing thing is simply sinister when we meet the front. No, they didn't just forget to put the bow tie there, they rebelled.

That's the float ID that was first seen in 2014 on the Camaro z28 and that will maximize airflow through the top of the grille and then there's that huge one. I've usually been falling in love with the shiny black bottom. It looks good if it was all flat, it would still look great, but I think with the black it just integrates everything really well. A beautiful zl1 bed. this badge you better bring some heat with your car because this thing is going to smoke it's 0 to 60 3.5 seconds top speed a tick under 200 miles an hour as we cross the front I'm waiting for Batman to come running Come out and get in on this thing because it looks like a Camaro Batman would drive right up to the hood.

Functional heat extractor. I love it. Its look reminds me of the Muscle Car days. I love that zl1 badge on both sides of the center section. hood and just incredibly sexy as we come around the corner, we're talking sexy here, look at these wheels. I love her style. It is a 20 inch wheel. The huge gunmetal gray darts are bigger than my shoe size and I wear a size up. 12 huge calipers, you have aluminum hats that will help dissipate heat, they will also look like lightening your rotating mass, which will speed up the steering of this car, but the eight piston Brembo calipers love the steering wheel, even love this silver Chevy bow tie.
It's really cool and I actually like this wheel better than the single row. I know Tom and I were going back and forth in an arm wrestle that of course he won, but I like these wheels better than the single file ones. go ahead and go down this side so everything on the side is your Camaro, this is what your Camaro looks like if you buy any 2019 Camaro from the Chevrolet bottom of the family mas, although there is something on the zl1, you can see the side skirt here like It's thin and then it widens and then it narrows towards the back.
I love it. I think it gives it the perfect look and will be aerodynamically efficient. This car isn't about things that are just there because it looks good. It works very well. Check out. Those meaty rear tires, this thing is a 305 on the 20-inch 30 series rear tire, even the rear calipers are larger than most calipers on standard cars, so that's the kind of braking performance you'll get and then you will finish it. This is where I'm going to have to Zonk. I don't like this wing they put on this car. Reminds me of the wing on my 1985 Firebird.
Looks like it came straight from the 1980s. It's functional now. I just don't like the style of the dropdown, here is the update member. I was telling you about the redesign for 2019. This is where you will see in the zl1. It's only in the back of the business, so it has the updated taillights. zl1 are all clean, someone right now is honking because he says I want to drive that zl1 no wait we are reviewing it right now and rating these rides. You have your adaptive exhaust which you can make louder or quieter depending on what mood you are in, if you want to piss off everyone in your neighborhood turn it up, you have a 6.2 liter supercharged v8 under the hood but overall I'm good with the bag.
I just wish they had done something with her. the diffuser down here I feel like Chevrolet dropped the ball in the diffuser and if you removed this horizontal line I would be sold these taillights take out the horizontal piece I would like the round to look a lot better and then give it I'm a little different wing , but if you're ready, you stopped honking, that means you're ready to see what's under the hood, so let's see that lt4 okay guys, the hood is open on this 2019 zl1, there's that supercharged lt4. not detuned zo6 corvette engine yet 650 horsepower 650 lb-ft of torque you can have your cake and eat it too with the zl1 you can get this on a 10 speed automatic or you can get it with the manual guess what we have manual so be prepared for an amazing ride if you're worried about your MPG because maybe you've stretched out to get the zl1 you look at that 14 in the city 20 on the highway but you know what zero to 60 is 3.5 seconds top speed 198 miles per hour and the car weighs about 3,900 4,000 pounds depending on what you've bolted to the engine, now with the supercharger there you can play a game of Scrabble, that's how big it is 6.2 liters.
I love the way it says LT four and everything. very nice and i know a lot of you are seeing a wall on a le they should have more horsepower on a le since the 1980's since they introduced that a le option package it's just about suspension and brakes that they make you faster on the circuit. because what Chevrolet did was find a loophole in the rules and in stock racing in the showrooms, which was very popular, especially in the '80s, the Camaros needed a little more help in the suspension and the brakes, that's why they created that option for you and me to buy. so then the racers can have that on their cars because showroom stock anyone want to guess how modified those cars could be yeah they're supposed to be pulled up in the showroom so with that option of single package now racers can have the Suspension and brakes beefed up, but if you're ready, I'm ready, let's fire up this LT 4 and see if it makes any noise.
Ok guys we're at the 2019 Camaro zl1. I know a lot of you are asking Joe before we continue. Also, how much does this cost? MSRP is around $65,000, let's see what you get: the door panels. I love the use of Alcantara on the top where you will put your arm there. I love the contrast stitching and then you have full Alcantara around the armrest on the back of the door and right in front of the window switch control you have blue LED lighting that you can't see in daylight here, but that It's another nice extra embellishment on that silver and just a little more silver to break up. all the darkness there not when we move from the door panel to the - it's a little harder on top, so that's one area I'm going to Zonk, they should put a little softer material at least here and keep the part rear. tough portion, but I'm telling you when it comes to Alcantara, they've spilled it everywhere here.
Fun fact, this is not the name of the material it is made with, it is the name of the company that makes it Alcantara, it is something like a Q-tip. Q-tip is a brand, not the real name of cotton swab. We have a good infotainment system. They decided to angle it towards the

driver

and passenger to avoid dazzling some people. I don't know who those people are. but some people say that it is difficult to reach these bottom buttons on the screen because it is tilted. I'm not going to worry about that, what I have here is this beautiful smooth shifting Tremec 6 speed transmission, this is what it's all about guys. and girls this is what you want to row your gears for, it's a nice Tremec, the throws are so short, so crisp, I love the Alcantara throughout, will this guitar wear out, yes it will wear out much worse than leather , but it looks good and feels good when the car is new like this.
I like with the Camaros how you can adjust the temperature by resolving the trim ring and it shows you that it has dual climate. Another thing is that we now have heated and ventilated seats. It doesn't look like a big deal but you know what this car has Recaros and they are ventilated I like the leather here it's a little hard but you know what I don't care because I'm in a Camaro zl1 you have your mode selector that will show them when they get to the end of the business , a curious place to place a 12 volt voltage.
I wish they would have put this a little closer to the wind chill because I know a lot of you are probably using some kind of radar detector or something like your house, but try to avoid all those fines and trips to jail so I wish they This was a little closer so the cable wouldn't hang so bad. Center console, there's not much you put in it. your time slides there on the race track which is a perfect place for them two cup holders there they are these are just beautiful perforated Alcantara Recaros I love the zl1 badge there is a Recaro logo right there on the chrome piece and the red trim on all parts with the leather on the reinforcement is perfect because this will wear and feel good and keep you in place and you know, it's still not too bad with ventilation and heating on full power look at the seat belts red pretty red means race zl1 You better get ready to run because this is just business, let's get to the business end, there's plenty to leave the sea talk, alright guys, business time on the zl1.
I love these seats, they don't squeeze you too much, obviously it will depend on your body type, but I'm telling you, the recalls on my RS are a lot more complicated than these. These are really comfortable. Total power adjustable in 8 directions. It feels really great. I love the placement of the controls. a little brushed aluminum on the pedals, it's more rubber. I wish they had put a little more racing style pedals set up, especially the dead pedal, which is a pretty small dead pedal and I don't know why on the Mustang and the Camaro, they have a very small dead pedal, especially that's where you get You'll have to prepare as you go through the turns.
One thing I want to point out very quickly is that it has GM's awesome fancy mirror if you want to see what it looks like in the back. Look, there's my RS. Hey, what's going on with RS back there? But it's a digital display so you can easily see from the back because remember that's been the most important thing with a Camaro. I've said it other people have said it. It's a little difficult to see. From what you can see, which is beautiful and pleasant to the touch, is the Alcantara steering wheel finish, yes it won't wear well, but it looks very good.
I love the zl1 badge. I'm going to Zonk, this should be carbon fiber. You know, it's just the little details that add up to the big picture. I love the instrumentation, as I showed you before, there is a mode selector button and when you press it you look at all the options. Tour Spore Sport and Track, very well done and then of course. You can use little toggle switches here on the steering wheel to check the fuel consumption. You've got the digital gauges on top, which is a really wonderful analog speedometer and tachometer, as it should be, and one thing you'll notice about this.
In the car you see the paddles on the back of the steering wheel, which isn't really the boat because this is a manual, you actually turn the automatic rev matching downshift function on and off, so I wish they didn't have them like paddles because I know that in racing cars sometimes you're going to work with that wheel and you might accidentally hit it and then you downshift and if you'reBeing used to the car downshifting for you will ruin your day real quick, so I wish they had that as a simple button or within the mode selector.
I understand they are probably trying to cut costs by having the same steering wheel as you would in the automatic or manual, but I love the seating position you have. a pretty good amount of room to put your helmet on because if you're going to do a track day and you're not at a cross country event, you should have your helmet on and there's enough room to do it facing forward. It's not that bad, is it just the back sides or just ridiculous but remember if you're on a track you always look where you want to go and I would think you want to look out the front windshield but let's move on and if you're ready, I'm ready to take this for a tour while we leave the male Chevrolet, we are in the 2019

camaro

zl1, remember that this one has Magna Ride suspension, so what it does is adjust every nanosecond what happens in the four corners of this Camaro now that is different in comparison with the Un le that un le has a totally different suspension track setup and that's why this zl1, if you wanted to go the route of your supercharged Camaro, would be the way to go for happy

daily

street driving because it will be more comfortable overall. compared to that of a le but very very smooth once you're in it and you're driving you're not really thinking about the blind spots to be honest with you especially in the front boy that engine has such a nice note .
A little bit of moan from the supercharger, which is exactly what you want and that's definitely what will separate you from the Shelby GT350. Now this car is faster than the GT 350. It's just a different driving experience. What do you want us to add? yourself, great feedback from the front of the car. I really feel like my hands are connected directly to those front wheels and they are very, very smooth. Remember this is a pushrod v8 compared to the GT 350 which is a quad cam v8 so this isn't going to scream. at 8250 rpm, but you're getting 650 lb-ft of tree stump pulling torque and that's where you'll have a big difference between this and the Shelby GT350.
Now it's going to be surprising to see how this car competes with the gt500 but I'm going to go ahead and do a very easy U turn in the Camaro and then we'll come back this way I love the gearbox I love this gearbox with the throttle rakes nice and smooth I like the way it weighs It transfers from left to right. Really great response from the front and rear of this car. The work Chevrolet has done with the suspension is truly amazing and everything else is simply masterful. Remember that with this you can have your cake and eat it too. you can get an automatic or you can opt for this wonderful 6-speed Tremec.
I'm telling you, there's nothing like shifting your own gears. It drove nice and smooth. This card you could drive this car

daily

without any problems and then. when you want to up the wick, you brake, it feels great, I love the modulation of the brake pedals, it feels great, it really feels good over the bumps, what Magneride does is magical, the magnetized suspension is an incredible piece of technology and I really love it, really cool. I mean, this car is amazing and it's something that, hey, if you want that supercharged power and you don't want to go the Corvette zo6 route, this one can definitely get the job done and fit the bill without any problems, and then when You're just sitting in front of a light, purring like a kitten and no one realizes what you just did on a winding road of shifting into first gear with the power delivery.
I'm telling you if you haven't driven a turbo, a supercharged car, like if you drive a naturally aspirated or turbo car, the power you just feel that extra boost coming from the supercharger and the wonderful thing is you're not waiting for any boost to kick in like a turbo, so you're ready. and running instantly just like Tom showed it which is snapping your fingers you're just out and that's the amazing thing about this car and as you can see driving in traffic you know you can take it easy and do your thing and feel comfortable . These nice ventilated Recaros we have the ventilation active because it's a little hot here in sunny Tampa, Florida, but really, very soft, it's hard to see on the sides, yes, it's hard to see from behind, yes, looking in front, no , once you arrive.
Getting in and getting down to business is like second nature, so I definitely have to tell Chevrolet when it comes to those features. Now one thing I did notice is that I accidentally hit the auto-on paddle earlier which I was worried about and it turned it off, I had to tinker with it again to turn it back on, so it's a Zonk. I don't like palettes, this is a manual. I'm going to rip them off and throw them in the back seat or something or maybe in Maybe that's what the little compartments in the center console are for, just to rip these paddles off and put them in there, but if you want to do your own heel and toe downshifts tip, the pedals are placed perfectly so I really love that too.
I love how clear the digital display is on the screen when it comes to oil pressure, coolant temperature and all that, they are obviously important gauges that you need to have in a high performance vehicle like this Camaro zl1. Make another U-turn just to show you. how easy it's really simple easy it's got all the safety features in first gear and we're horrible so you can see the straight line capability of this car is amazing put the powder down that's where you'll leave that gt350 behind because zero. to sixty gt350 is about four seconds, this thing takes you three point five seconds and every turn it's like you're Don Garlits and I know Don Garlits only drives Mopar because to him, Mopar doesn't have a car, but he'd be surprised to get into this Camaro. because I know I am very surprised and it is a pleasure and an honor to drive this vehicle and have it here for you but like all good things must come to an end but with the closing of one door it will be the opening of another, but we have to recover this Tomas family Chevrolet and hand him the key fob, so I'll see you in a split second and I hope it was a great trip for you, that's all I have to say, so I'll see you in a split second, well guys it's been one of those days here at mass family chevrolet that you just dream about so i definitely want to say a huge thank you to david moss, ricky and everyone else here at the dealership that allows rady vehicles full access especially To us beasts like the Chevy Camaro ZL1, is this the car to outperform a Shelby GT350?
It is a difficult decision. You know, we have the new gt500 on the way. Will it be a competitor? Because remember the gt500. I was only able to get it with that DCT transmission, but if this is the kind of thing you're into, the rise of CR eighty leave a comment in the comments section to be honest, you don't have to. McGee Tom's move today was a special day for him, he woke up and guess what he and I are wearing the exact same color t-shirts from the rabies rides, so it was a fluke that this amazing day happened with the zl1, so thanks Tom for all your hard work and as always guys, I'll see you on the next ride.
