is happening in the technical team andru edwards here the editor's routine for gearlive.com and as I mentioned Apple has just released its new iPhone 11 iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max I have all three here and Apple told us a lot about these devices at their media event last week, but like I said, they

didn

't tell you.

Anyway, there are some things that Apple forgot to tell you about their new smartphones, so that's

what

we're going to talk about today before we get into that, although as you probably know, one of the main

features

and changes in the new iPhones is that camera on the back especially that n New dark mode. I'm going to be taking a bunch of dark mode photos and I'll give you my take on that new camera in a future video. Apple began phasing out its 3D Touch feature last year, starting with the iPhone 10r. 3D Touch debuted in 2015 on the iPhone. 6s and allowed you to access additional menu options and commands by pressing your finger hard against the screen now, however, this feature is no longer on all three iPhone 11 models, so instead of 3D Touch, Apple now replaced that feature with something called haptic touch haptic touch works relatively the same way, except instead of having to press harder on the screen, all you need to do is long press on an element now as awesome as 3D Touch once was and I'm so sad to see it go away, there's a big silver lining when it comes to its removal if you remember that last year the iPhone 10r was the iPhone with the longest battery life ever released.

What was the difference with the iPhone 10r? It was the first iPhone since the iPhone 6s not to include 3D Touch. 3D Touch was an extra layer on the panel that took up space on the phone the removal of 3d touch allowed for a bigger battery this year the successor to the iphone 10r which is the iphone 11 got an extra hour of battery life over the 10r without However this year it is the iphone 11 and iphone 11 pros that see significant improvements in battery life four more hours on the iphone 11 pro compared to the 10s and 5 more hours on the 11 pro max compared to the 10s max of the last year why such a big battery improves one well The main reason is the fact that now the iPhone 11 Pros have also stopped using 3D Touch so on this 11 Pro Max if you had to choose between having 3D Touch or having five extra hours of battery life compared to last year quiet 3 d tweak next let's talk about the fact that these phones are heavier than last year's models now in this case no I'm talking about the iphone e 11 which weighs the same as the iphone 10r however the iphone 11 pro and iphone 11 pro max are actually heavier than their 2018 counterparts the 10s and 10s max respectively the iphone 11 pro weighs 11 grams more than a 10s while the iphone 11 pro max weighs 18 grams more than the tennis max and while you might not notice it in real life these phones definitely feel substantially heavier especially if you put a model older in the other hand you can really feel the difference why the extra weight is that extra camera lens on the back and as I just mentioned there's also room for a bigger battery below Let's talk calendar type of messy release of ios 13 ok ios 13 released yesterday the day before iphone 11 release for iphones but it didn't release for ipads originally apple said ios 13.1 which would also be ipa.

Dos 13.1 was supposed to be released on September 30, but they pushed it up several days and now it will be released on September 24. Also, several

of ios 13 won't launch on your iPhone until the 24th as well. Seems like Apple ran out of time when they finished ios 13 they basically had to get to a point where the software was ready to be able to load it into the new phones that are going to ship and they moved some features into the future and also delayed the release of ios 13 for the ipad and also for the apple tv, so if you've downloaded ios 13 and find you can't use features like having siri announce your text messages as they arrive or using two pairs of air pods with a device because those features were removed from ios 13 and will be released in a future ios 13 update and I don't even think those two features will come to ios 13.1 in a few days I think they are actually iOS 13.2 features are now one thing to keep in mind is the apps you use the fact that some apps are not interoperable between ios 12 and ios 13. for example the new apple reminders app when you open that app in ios 13, it specifically tells you that it will update your data to be compatible with ios 13 and any device running ios 12 or earlier will no longer be able to access that data, so if you use reminders on both an iPhone and an iPad, you probably you'll want to wait a few days until ios 13.1 is released so all your stuff continues to work together seamlessly then the iphone 11 and iphone 11 pro support the new wi-fi 6 compared to wi-fi 5 wi-fi 6 has a lot of added benefits there's only a new wi-fi standard every seven to ten years so it's actually a big deal wi-fi 6 supports faster maximum transfer speeds unless the devices send more information with each individual transmission allows routers to communicate with more devices at once and allows your iPhone and other devices to use 40 percent less battery power Full power when transmitting and receiving go data now wi-fi 6 also facilitates better connectivity for dense crowds, so places like airports or sports stadiums, as they upgrade to wi-fi 6, your wi-fi 6 compatible devices will be able to jump on those networks are so much easier now to take advantage of wi-fi 6 you need to upgrade your router at home if you have a wi-fi 5 or 802.11 ac router plug your new iphone 11 into it you won't see any additional wi-fi benefits it will connect at speeds Wi-Fi 5, but if you upgrade your router to Wi-Fi 6, then your iPhone and any other Wi-Fi 6 devices will be able to take advantage of those faster speeds to save battery life etc. i recently did a feature on the wi-fi 6 router i'm using the netgear nighthawk ax8 if you'd like to see that review i'll leave a link in the description below and send you a card here next let's talk about the new apple designed u1 chip that supports ultra-wideband Apple Di I didn't really talk about this onstage, but they noted it on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro product pages.

Apple made a new chip called u1 that's used for spatial awareness. This helps iPhones find other iPhones and other devices. precisely when they are very close, an easy way to think about this is to imagine what gps does when you are out and about, want to find the nearest starbucks or are driving somewhere you have never been before you break your gps and pinpoints the location you need to go to and directs you to that location the u1 chip and ultra wideband is basically like gps but for your living room instead of pointing an address on a map the ultra wideband will be able to pinpoint the location need an object in a room and take it to it using your iphone now to launch apple says this improves airdrop and this will actually be part of the ios 13.1 update if you want to airdrop something to someone else you can actually t point your phone towards your phone and it will prioritize your device in the airdrop interface but apple also says it's just the beginning for the u1 chip and we know apple is getting ready to release a new ra coin sized tracker so you can take this track or put it in your bag put it in your luggage put it on a keychain basically attach one to anything you want to track and you can use the find my app which lets you find your iphone find your devices find your friends now you'll be able to locate those trackers too and by the way don't think apple is just going to put this on trackers and iphones hopefully future airpods have u1 chips then future macbooks probably anything that Apple makes that will be mobile and they will probably allow third parties to license this too so let's say a high tech wallet company throws a u1 chip into a wallet that makes it able to locate your wallet using your iPhone with pinpoint accuracy f Ext Up on the list, let's talk about audio mic zoom when you're recording a video with your iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro, actually.

Dad has an audio zoom feature similar to the feature Samsung announced for the Galaxy Note 10, except on the iPhone. The feature really works as you'd expect, so when you're recording someone using your phone as you zoom in on the person, iPhone will reduce ambient noise around you and optimize the sound of your voice so you can hear them clearly even from further away. now when you compare this to what samsung does it seems like what samsung does is turn the volume up on everything even if there is some ambient noise which is also turned up which really isn't the best end result is that the fact that Apple remove ambient noise so you can only hear voices even when you're far away is a great new feature that they didn't talk about on stage when they introduced all the new camera updates. on the 11 and 11 pro so you have it guys six things apple didn't tell you about the iphone 11 and iphone 11 pro and now you are a more informed consumer did you buy a new iphone 11 or iphone 11 pro did you get the new midnight green or yes bought an iphone 11 the new mint green sound in the comments below let me know what you got we'll meet there to chat more and by the way im talking to you too michael epson heart leave a comment letting me know what Iphone color do you have.
