I will always be the first person to volunteer to do a job that needs to be done and you have my word that if you hire me in this position, I will do it. at a very high level and will help you achieve your business and financial goals. That's great. Thank you. Could you tell us a little bit about why you want to work here with us?
Yes, I have been aware of your organization for many years. As you know you are a market leader, you are innovative and creative and from what I have seen I think you always put your customers first so you start with your customers and then work backwards which in my opinion will always mean that you are going to be successful that is good for me because I am working in an organization that constantly strives and moves forward and the most important thing is that you want to improve and develop. I am the type of person who also wants to improve and develop myself.
I don't want to just stay at a job and do the bare minimum. I want to excel and advance year after year. I'm also at a stage in my career where I see myself staying with the same organization for a long period of time. time and because from what I understand during my research you have very ambitious plans for the future and I would like to be part of those finally I understand that you hire a lot of talented and bright people so again that is good for me because I will work alongside some people who You will push me and challenge me and that is great for my long term future career plans, so those are the main reasons why I see myself here for a long period of time and I will be able to grow as your company grows too, thank you Richard, what experience do you have that is relevant to this position?
Before applying for the position, I downloaded a copy of the job description. I read it to make sure I was sure I could meet the requirements. Predominantly job requirements, the experience I have is first and foremost dealing with clients and customers. I'm very good at it, I have a lot of experience. I used to do it daily in previous roles, so if a client is demanding or they are difficult. I have the interpersonal and communication skills to win them over and ensure we provide them with a first-class service. I also have a lot of experience working in a variety of different teams, so you could say Richard, we.
I want you to go work on a team. I may have never worked with those people before, but I will adapt. I will support team members and ensure we are all focused on achieving our goals. Another experience I have is being able to plan. and I organize my work methodically. I am very good at working under pressure. I enjoy working under stressful situations and that is because I always plan and organize my work meticulously so I know what is coming. I look forward and make sure I can achieve my goals. Another experience I have is also helping my managers and supervisors achieve their goals.
Obviously, your manager and supervisor are always under pressure. You know they have a lot of business goals and objectives to achieve and I understand that, so I will work with my manager. and my supervisor to help them achieve their goals by basically being a high performer and always putting the needs of the business first. So, long story short, after reading the job description, I feel like I have all the experience needed not only to start working. quickly into the position, but also to stand out, thank you, it's great to hear your comments there, especially about your experience working in a team and for this position, working as a team is essential.
Can you explain to me what makes a great team, in your opinion, safe? There are a number of different factors that come together to make a team effective. The most important thing is that the team has a shared objective and a common goal. If you were working as part of a team of six people, for example, everyone on that team. The team must work towards the same end goal, so it must have a common goal, that all team members are enrolled in the team, they must also be good at communicating and I don't mean just talking, they must also be good.
When listening, for communication to be effective, you must know how to listen when working in a team, you must also support other people within the team and, if someone is having difficulties in the team, you must be prepared to say so. Well, let's help that person get back on track, so you have to be a supportive team member, you also have to be fully motivated towards the end goal and to achieve that, you have to have different skills and different qualities in the team. . It's not good to have a team where everyone has the same skills as me, so the team must be diverse to be successful.
If I had the responsibility, for example, of choosing a team, I would make sure to choose people from different backgrounds and with different skills. sets and different experiences and finally, to be effective as a team, you must be willing to accept feedback, you must constantly analyze your performance as you go, review what you have done step by step and be open to any improvements you can That's important because for a team to be effective it must be open to continuous improvement and development. Excellent. Thank you. Can you give me an example of when you have worked as part of a team?
Yes, I have worked in many different teams in a variety of different environments, a recent example of where I worked as part of a team was whilst working on a project for a particularly demanding client, so as a team it was our responsibility to ensure we completed the project to the client on time and specification required now in the middle of the project the client kept changing the specification but wanted the deadline to stay exactly as it was now a couple of people on the team were a little frustrated with the client but I told them that We needed to make sure we deliver for the customer here, we want the customer to come back to our business again and again, so I said every time the customer changes their mind, let's not make it a problem, say yes, we can work with you to solve it. this problem we can change the specifications and deliver it on time so that everyone agreed every time the customer came back to us and changed his mind it was not a problem we sat down regrouped and changed direction sometimes people in the The team had to do different things, so for example I had to take on a task I wasn't particularly familiar with, but I went away, learned how to do it, came back and performed that task to the right standard.
Fortunately, we completed the project. time and it was a great motivation for everyone on the team because despite all the challenges we managed to complete the project on time and to the required specifications and I am pleased to say that client ended up returning to the business. no less than five times to users on subsequent occasions, so it's a really good experience for everyone on the team. Thanks for the response Richard, no problem. I noted earlier that you said you enjoyed working under pressure with this in mind. You can tell me? about a time when you completed a difficult task under pressure yes, no problem, I'm used to working under pressure and I really enjoy it.
One particular situation comes to mind when my manager came into the office and said that a team member had fallen ill at short notice now this team member was highly specialized in a particular area they were very good at the job they did. Corporal my boss said he needed a volunteer to have someone take over his job in addition to his own and Being someone who likes to work under pressure, I raised my hand and said, "Yes, no problem, I'll take over your job now. "I'll be honest with you. He didn't know how to carry out his particular tasks, but he wasn't afraid." the job that was going to come my way, so what I did was I went home and I actually called the person who was sick just to ask for some advice on how they approached all of their tasks when I came back to work the next morning.
I wrote down and put an action plan in place, so I evaluated my own tasks, then I put the other person's tasks next to them and prioritized what I would need to do to get everything done, so I had an action plan of how I was doing. To complete the tasks, I worked tirelessly to complete their tasks on time and also to do my own. Now, to achieve that goal, I had to stay late a couple of nights after work for a couple of hours, but I was more than happy. To do that, I got a lot out of that situation because I learned some skills that I hadn't managed to develop before, so I was diversifying my range of skills and I was also improving my ability to work under pressure, so it was a win-win. situation for the organization because my manager got someone to complete the task and time and I learned something new which as I say was a great win win situation thank you so how would I handle a conflict with a coworker ? conflict with a coworker I haven't experienced a lot of conflict with coworkers, however, if it does happen, I always try to resolve it immediately.
I firmly believe that conflict can have a negative impact on a team. It can take away positive energy from you and it can deter you from what you are really trying to achieve, so I would resolve it as soon as possible. First of all, I would review my own performance and actions to evaluate if I was doing something to cause the conflict. It's very easy for us as individuals to think well, it's nothing to do with me, it's the other person, but I think it's important to watch how you perform. You would then talk to the other person privately and use an open communication style.
I would be positive and tell them: look, I can feel that there is a conflict between us. I'm looking forward to solving this. Am I doing something that irritates them or contributes to the conflict so that I can then get information that helps? Give me the power to try to resolve the situation. I would then suggest an amicable way forward so that we both work in harmony so that we can achieve our common goals. Then I would open a dialogue with the other person to try to resolve it. Immediately, of course, if there was a situation where the conflict was too deep-rooted and too difficult, I would seek advice from my boss and supervisor to try to find an appropriate way forward, but above all I would try to resolve it quickly and amicably.
Thank you, thank you for your response, Richard, where do you see yourself in five years? I really see myself still working for your organization now, of course, I would say that, but my career progression planning is with your organization. I want to work. I am here for the reasons I mentioned above. I am also in apoint in my career where I want to continue working for the same organization. That is important. You have ambitious plans for the future and I want to continue working here in the same position. or perhaps have advanced if you consider me suitable to do so at a higher level.
However, in five years, I mainly want to be very good at my job. I want to be a high-achieving achiever. I want you to be happy with my work. See me as a respected member of the organization, someone you can trust, and someone who is also loyal. I would also see myself obviously having experience in five years and someone who could perhaps help train other new members of the organization when they want to join, so I'm basically sharing my experience with them, thank you, yes, thank you, so, How would you handle the stress and pressure in this position?
I prefer to work under stress and pressure and I really enjoy it when I am faced with time. I'm working as part of a team to accomplish a difficult task within a given time period, so I really enjoy the stress and pressure. I think I am at my best, but I manage stress and pressure first and foremost by making sure I am completely organized in my work, if I know what I have to do each day and each week, when stressful situations arise, it will be much easier deal with them. I also manage stress and pressure by staying calm in every situation if things go wrong the only way you can overcome them if you have a clear mind so you have to communicate clearly you have to be calm and collected and you also have to have a positive mentality.
The only way to overcome stressful situations is if you are positive and work together, draw on other people's experiences as part of your team and then you can achieve what you want in a position, so I actually prefer to work under stress and pressure. Thanks Richard. Can you tell me about a time when you provided excellent customer service? Yes, I am used to providing excellent customer service and I fully appreciate that for your business to be successful you need satisfied customers, so it would be my responsibility to always provide excellent service. A particular situation comes to mind where I received a call from an elderly man. customer who wanted to place an order on our website but was worried about how to do it, how to do it, didn't know what product to order and was also more worried about making an online payment for security reasons, now that he had set up timelines in which he had to deal with customers and that schedule was two minutes.
I had to end the call in two minutes. I saw this as a different situation where I needed to take my time and reassure the customer, so I was prepared to spend more time on the call dealing with them, so I started by talking to them in a positive way, assuring them that I established some connection with them to make them feel comfortable and then I started exploring what type of product they needed, so I was assessing their needs once we established what product they wanted. I then began to reassure them about the online purchasing process.
I explained to them how secure our website was, the fact that it was a secure server and that their credit card details were not shared with our organization. It was totally secure once I built their trust, then made the payment over the phone, counted them step by step and then emailed them a receipt and once we were done I called them back. two days later to make sure they had received the product, which they had, so I just wanted to make sure they were completely satisfied and I am pleased to say that the customer, even though it was their first time ordering from our company .
They continued to use it so many times in the future, so I think the call took about seven minutes total, which was five minutes longer than it should normally take, but it was great because I managed to win over a long-time client of ours who was Good news and they were happy too. Excellent thanks. Can you describe your strengths to us? Yes, my strengths are mainly the fact that I am a fast learner, so if you give me the job, I will learn this position very quickly, that would be the first one. day to get going in super fast time.
I would spend time on my own time in the evenings learning the role because my goal would be to get up and running quickly. I want to be a high-performing member of my team. Other strengths are my ability to work as part of a team to motivate other people I also believe that I am good to be around you know I am very positive by nature I have a positive mindset and I believe that you only get from life what you are prepared for to participate and I think that would rub off on other people. Additionally, other strengths include my ability, as I said before, to remain calm under pressure, so if things go wrong, I can and will be a reliable member of the team.
Help everyone get to the point where we achieve things within time and to the right standard. I think I am also a good communicator, so when dealing with your clients and customers I will always act as a positive role model. and you have my word that I will put your business interests above all else. Finally, another of my strengths is that I can be left alone to do work to the correct standard, but I can also be left to ensure that I keep my knowledge and experience up to date. I take my personal and professional development seriously and will always ensure that my knowledge and experience are at the top of where they should be thank you thank you richard thank you for the response what is your biggest weakness my I think my biggest weakness is that sometimes I find it very difficult to say no to people in the past.
This has sometimes led me to take on too much work, so I hope I have shown you today that I will always be the first person. raise your hand, that sometimes in the past has led me to take on too much and I've felt a little overwhelmed at times where I think I'm going to have a hard time achieving it and I end up working long hours into the night sometimes just to make sure I getting it done on time, obviously, that's not good for me, you know my own mental health and my concentration skills, so I need to make sure I say no when I'm absolutely at maximum capacity, that being said.
One of my strengths is the fact that I am always looking at myself to improve, so if you see something about me that you think I could improve, tell me and I will go away, fix it and improve in that area. thank you excellent thank you so I would be interested to know why you left your last job why I left my last job my last job was brilliant to a certain extent so the time I was there was fantastic I was learning and I was growing along with the organization then I came to a point where I felt like I wasn't growing and developing personally in the role, I basically reached my potential and wanted a new and fresh challenge, now the organization was amazing, I'm still moving forward.
With the organization, you know, I had a very good relationship with them and I'm very grateful for the experiences I had while I was there, they gave me a lot and in return I gave them a lot too, but it was the right time for me. move on and I left on very good terms and as I say I still have a very good relationship with the organization and my previous manager so the main reason I left was because I was ready for a new challenge and I wanted to go to work. for a different company and getting new experiences is fine too, thank you, thank you, why should we hire you?
I think you should hire me because not only do I have the experience, skills and qualities that match the job description, experience. I have won means that I will get up and running in this role very quickly, that means that you can let me get on with things, which reduces the pressure on you because you are obviously busy and under pressure to achieve your goals and the last thing you need to do is be watching me all the time, so I learn quickly. I am also very good at working with people and understand the benefits of working in a diverse team.
I feel like I'm a good person. motivator so that you can make other people also feel motivated about their work. I am also very good with clients. One of my strengths is being patient with clients, treating them methodically and making them feel comfortable and, as I said at the beginning of the article. interview I understand that for your business to be successful you need customers to return again and again, so I would say one of my strengths is the fact that I am commercially aware, commercially astute and understand that I need to do my job to the right standard for you to succeed and I will too.
Another strategy is that I am loyal. I am honest and always act with integrity, so I will always represent your brand and your company in a positive way. What are your salary expectations for this position before attending today's interview? I did some research to find out the average salary for this position within the industry. Now the average salary was between £25,000 and £35,000, now ideally. I would like the £35,000 mark, however I understand you don't know me. I enter your organization. You trust me to do a good job and therefore I feel I have a responsibility to prove myself to you on that basis.
I would be happy with a salary of £32,000 and I believe I have a duty and responsibility to show them that I am worth that amount and that I would be comfortable in that position. Well, we have now reached the end of the interview. Richard, so just one last question to ask is: Do you have any questions for us? Thank you so much. I really enjoyed the process. I'll just have a couple of questions if that's okay with you. As I said earlier, I plan to stay. with the company for a long period of time if I am successful and I am interested in knowing what plans they have for the business over the next five to ten years.
We're looking to expand operations pretty big and we're also looking to increase product lines and we have really big, ambitious plans for the future. Okay, great, brilliant, and can I also ask, please, what frustrates you about people who have held this position in the past? That's a real thing, yeah, that's a great question. So as a company we look for people who have the willingness to learn and the drive to move forward, as Andy mentioned we are expanding our operations right now and having that willingness to learn is really important to us, unfortunately previous employees at the El position has lacked that ambition and drive to move forward so that is what we are looking for and the ideal candidate for this position and I know I would say this but I am very enthusiastic and ambitious so I think I can close that gap.
Sure and just one last question, if I am successful, what would you need me to focus on within the first 30 days of starting the position? Yes, it's important to us that you get to a position where you can actually help us achieve those goals as quickly as possible. as you can, so we really need you to get up to speed as quickly as possible, as Andy said, we have these really huge goals that we're aiming for, so we need you to get yourself in a position where you feel comfortable. and you can help us move towards those goals perfect thank you yes, I have no more questions thank you very much okay, that's great, thank you richard um, it was a pleasure interviewing you today and we will be in touch very soon, thank you I'll just finish and say, thank you very much for interview me I really enjoyed the process.
It's been great to learn as much as possible about your company. If you hire me, I promise that I will be a high-performing professional. employee and I will give it my all thank you very much in fact thank you thank you take care of yourself thank you very much thank you take care of yourself bye bye thank you
