. Now you will need some needle nose pliers, a Phillips screwdriver, some tweezers and an Allen wrench, let's start with one of the first. What we're going to have to do is take our pliers and remove these caps from the rotary encoders. It is important to go slowly so as not to ruin the finish of thewheel
. Some of them may be a little easier than others I like to go through the opening in the slot there is a small opening you can put your tool in there after you have completed it take some needle nose pliers and you can take the caps off of these small rocker switches, here the cap and boot could come off in two pieces, no big deal, next we will use my needle nose pliers to loosen the nut on these rocker switches, if you have the right socket, you can always use a socket to do this, there are three small ones. pieces of metal underneath, you want to make sure you keep all three and set them aside after we've moved the two, here we're also going to get rid of the nut and washer from the rotary encoders. to loosen all three and then you can do most of it by hand because they're pretty high up, we're going to make sure to keep the lock washer and nut for each of them and set them up, the next step is to remove these 10 screws from the face of the wheel using our allen wrench now that we have all the screws removed we can remove the plate and there will be a couple of button covers here that we will also need to grab for the top two Next we will remove seven of these larger screws and then there are two small ones on the LCD panel at the top.Next we will remove these two plugs that are connected to the original
shifters
after disconnecting those two cables. We are going to keep them so that they do not hinder us. Lift up the circuit board. You will find two very small screws at the top. Here we will have to remove them. Once we remove them, we can easily remove the pin on the top that has been holding the existingshifters
that came out of there and then we can remove the rockers from there so we can work on the back. You already know what we're going to need. piece, so make sure you put it aside and don't lose it.

You will use a screwdriver, Allen wrench or something to push the center of these out. They are now held
magnetic
ally, so just push the center in and you're done. You will release the magnet on the other side when you turn it over, you will see them there and you can take those magnets out of there and put them aside, you won't need them anymore and be careful, they will be tracked. all its bolts, the next step after that is done is to prepare the shifter kit, so we will remove these four bolts from the quick release unit. With those screws removed, we can now install our magnetic shifter kit. We're going to put the plug through the holes here that have the magnet in it's a little tight so just stick it in there and then stick that line in there now it might get stuck a little bit you might need to lift it up so that circuit the board on the inside gets out of the way, go ahead and feed the plug into the other side and then we'll loosely attach them to the back. You don't need to glue them at this point, they just need to be tightened by hand. so they don't fall out while you're working on the front, so now we're going to move on to the inside, we're going to be careful to run those wires through some of the slots and I'm going to put two screws in here for this circuit board so we don't drop them.
Above while we try to work, move back and tighten these four bolts that hold our magnetic shifter kit to the wheel; you want these bolts to be pretty tight but not too tight and once you've tightened them go ahead and test your shifters make sure they work well we can turn them over and I'll start working on the inside and putting them back together but , you know what, I forgot this little black piece. that fell out, so I'm going to have to remove this circuit board to put it back in there, we're going to take that little black piece and there's a little hole on the left here between the two screws, you can see it.
We can put it in there and it matches a spring on the back. We're going to put it around our cables again through the slot so it's nice and easy and then we'll start putting it all back together. screws that we took out earlier and don't forget the two small screws for the LCD screen at the top. Next we will connect our new shifters to the existing port and you will need to be careful with the routing. This cable to make sure it doesn't interfere with the two little white buttons on either side of the plug, so I had a little problem.
I unplugged it and rerouted it under some cables to try to save it. Well, you can see. It's a little cleaner that way, so you pull it out from under the existing cable from the last shifter and wrap it back out of the way. Now you can take the faceplate and put it back on. There are a couple of buttons here. There are little clues that those buttons need to go into, so be careful when lining them up. After you put them back in place you will put those 10 screws back into the wheel faceplate. Once this is done, we are almost done.
We're going to work on the little rocker switches, we're going to have these three pieces of metal that we're going to have to put in the right order, so that the first one is flat and has a little tab. that tab points up towards the top, you should be able to see it on the unit where it lines up. I'm going to use my tweezers to make everything flat and get in there just right. Let's place that plan. one followed by a lock washer and then the nut and then the other side again, that flat with the notch facing up, the lock washer and then the nut.
The next thing we do is put those swivels back in there as well. the lock washer and each of the three, you can hand tighten them most of the time now for the rocker arms. I had some trouble with my needle nose pliers getting them back on so I grabbed this little screwdriver here it's a 11 30 second shot and that really grabbed the nut and tightened it up nice and easy for me after I tightened them up done , you can put the caps back on the rotary encoders, you'll see that they're keyed on the inside they only go one way, so put them in there, don't try to force them in and then for the rockers, you're going to push that boot down so it's all the way over it and then you'll follow up with a little red cap and do the same for each side, just make sure the boots are fully secured down there and then the cap on the top, voila, you've installed the magnetic shifter kit, You can try them and feel the pleasant sharpness. feedback it is much easier to pull it has better response it is not as loud it has many benefits over the original design and honestly this orange one I think it looks amazing it even has some of that extra play everything has been disconnected for you so you don't have to travel anymore . uh yeah, it's ready to go.
