They even have details inside the drawers and inside the cabinets so you can open them and get ideas on what could fit inside various pieces of furniture. I know an L shaped desk is very popular so this was a great starting point for inspiration and I love that they have these cabinets here and again like I said they are full of some different ideas on how the desk could be used. storage in the different compartments and how they would look in your craft room. I feel like the inspiration room below was put together for a teenage girl, but I can't help but fall in love with all the beautiful colors in this room.

I really like the desk. set up with the shelf on top and the whiteboard mounted right above the desk as well as storage for supplies in those hanging bins, they also had these cute picture frames that really worked with elastic bands that I thought would be great for changing up the designs of the cards. the one you are currently working on I like this unique desk setup because it is connected directly to the chalice cube organizers. One useful thing about all inspiration rooms is that sheets are provided with all the furniture listed, including the price and where it is located when you go.

Even in the shopping area you can see how bright and fun this room is and how they use that chalice cube organizer as a divider which would be great if you had to share your craft space with someone else or maybe it was in your bedroom. I've seen this add-on unit from Alix, but it's for the top of your workspace and it's great that the drawers are there, but the drawer doesn't open very far and it was very difficult trying to get the books in and out. the drawer, so that's something to think about if this is a piece that appeals to you.
I also really liked this task lighting, it was very stylish, easy to turn and would be great for working with smaller parts if you do food or jewelry making. which I know that task lighting would be very useful when working with smaller items. The next inspiration room I found is done in a more traditional home

office

style, but I've seen more and more

crafter

s shying away from white furniture and going towards darker furniture to create a warmer feel in their craft room. I love the look of these shelves and how much they hold up. Also, I think a comfy chair and reading nook in a craft room is a great idea, a place to curl up and relax.
If the craft space also doubles as a home office like mine, then this is a great setup. to see here. They were able to create several vignettes or unique work areas for different tasks and I've seen a lot of YouTubers especially have an area for recording videos in an area on their desktop for editing in an area for crafting, so I like how they divided it up. This would be a great idea for any home business. This shelf is called a crib and I like its industrial look. but it's still white, it's all metal and super deep so if you store larger craft items like 12 by 12 paper they will fit perfectly on this shelf and again they use shelves as a room divider which is a fabulous idea.
Next, let's move on. To choose the perfect desk, IKEA has a large selection of desks and desk systems that you can customize to suit your needs. One of the most basic is the meat desk and this is the one I have in my craft room. In fact, I have two. these blank ones that serve as a base for my larger tables that I customized for my work needs for just a little bit more the meat line has different variations this one has two top desk drawers and is longer overall now I'm sure I'll get it I'm cutting the name off but this desk is called the Lai Sabha desk and I like the wood grain on the top and to me it had a mid century modern feel, it was a smaller size and scale which works great in a smaller space talking about small spaces I love this ingot or desk, it collapses on both sides and breaks so it would be ideal if your desk is in a more communal space in your home, say the dining room or the living room, because it can break.
It's smaller and doesn't take up as much space, but when you're ready to craft, it opens up and you have plenty of room to spread out. The desk labeled Hemis generally has a more traditional look, this particular desk has two tops. desk drawers and has a wood look frame which is very traditional and would work in a home that had a more traditional feel. This desk is from the Kula Berg line and definitely has a very industrial feel. Also, I love the wooden top it had. very rustic industrial and I liked pairing it with that big stool, it was a pretty good sized workspace and also had a cool border on the top of the desk as an added detail.
The only downside to this desk is that I don't have to buy some extra storage, of course, IKEA specializes in working with small spaces. These Lamarck secretary desks are just the solution, they are small and cute and I love the secretary look on the back, perfect for a smaller space and I really liked this. Dark teal color it came in and then this is a beautiful creamy white. It's called a notch and holder and it said in its description that it was great for entryways to grab keys and purses and things like that, but in my opinion it would also make a great storage piece in a craft room or craft space, especially if You want to store your craft supplies in the dining room, living room, places like that, here were great pockets and places to store things and you can store a lot of supplies in a very slim format.
I liked the hooks on the sides and something I've seen that has been very popular lately: our standing desks and IKEA had several to choose from. This was the most expensive model I could find and it was super cool how it works on the right side of the desk there was a little control panel with arrows that you just press to make the desk move up and down it was super smooth so that nothing shook on the desk while it was moving and I like the idea of being able to change the height of your desk because sometimes I feel like standing and sometimes I feel like sitting here is another standing desk that I found that was a little bit taller cheap for about a hundred and fifty dollars, comes in white which is great for crafts in my opinion and also moves very easily but I wasn't sure where all those cables would hide well in your home office.
You can see here as I move the desk up and down, they even have their computer on it. the desk and it's not a problem, nothing shakes, it adjusts to a pretty good height. Turns out I'm 6 feet tall and need a very tall desk to work at and this would have fit perfectly. One problem with a standing desk is that it does not include storage, the Fredi desk is an interesting option because the shelves are adjustable. The shelves you see on the sides can be moved inwards. It looks perfect if you have a lot of computer equipment.
I like the NAM line. I've been to IKEA forever or at least as long as I can remember. It is a very sturdy and elegant desk. It looks like wood but of course it's still made of that laminate and also comes in white. The other cool thing is that some of the desks have this nice accessory that can be pulled out to create your own L-shaped desk or just give you a little extra workspace while you're crafting, but you can push it in and have more space on the floor for the rest of the time. For me, the most ideal desk solution at IKEA is to customize yours.
They have a variety of tabletops that you can see here, plus a variety of legs that you can use under your table to really create your own style and look. The boards can be joined together. in a variety of shapes and types of configurations, for example if you are looking for an L desk or a corner unit those are options available, plus there are some really affordable smaller options where you can create your own desk for under $30 a Once you have chosen your tabletop, you can see the selection of legs. They start very cheap at only $4 a piece but they have some nicer ones that extend if you want a standing desk and they also have ones that include storage pieces and For all you crafters and artists out there, some of them can stand up in the back , placing your desk at an angle that may be easier to draw.
The options are quite limited. We encourage you to look around the store and get some different ideas. because they use these pieces throughout the IKEA store in different ways, so check them out for inspiration. My next tip for shopping in the IKEA workspace department is to work the system and that would be the furniture systems, a lot of the desks and shelves and Filing Cabinets, things like that have different names and you'll see, for example, this is the line Meek A or the Meek line I used in my craft room and they have a lot of different accessories so if you're sticking with the same system, you can look into all the different setup possibilities and if you're adding desk pieces together for example here You'll see that extra drawer system on the side and the shelving on top.
By staying within the same system, you will be guaranteed that your parts work. together and they also work together visually so that all the drawer fronts are similar and things like that just to create a cohesive look in your room for example. I never knew this mic line has this L shaped corner unit which would be fabulous for creating a longer corner unit work surface in a craft room, here are two desks that are part of the Alex line and give them I will show later. Alex drawers are very popular in many craft spaces. I had never seen these particular desks and I loved them. the colors of them and this nice detail on the back to hold the cables or, if you're like me and keep your stamping tools and other things connected, it would be great to be able to store them back here, flip it over and you'll still have some storage space job.
To work with the Alex line, it includes drawer units, a desk, and I think some desk accessories that you can use to coordinate everything in your room. The best desk was new to me. I have seen the best cabinets for a while and this was a great desk. I liked the glossy finish and the metal pulls on the drawers made them very easy to open and were very smooth when opening and closing. There were also various filing accessories, such as file folders and rolling carts, which again accompanied the best desk. When you stick with the same system you can be sure that all of your pieces will coordinate together, speaking of filing and storage, there were a wide variety of pieces used specifically for storage, all of them part of the Galant system and the Galant system has many different ones. configurations that you can use with this type of modular system and they have several documents available at IKEA to help you choose which pieces will work best for your needs again, most pieces, most systems come in at least two to three different finishes so you can choose the one you prefer for your space and there are always workers around to help you identify what you are looking for.
This storage systemparticular was also new to me and I was attracted to its beautiful blue color. dark turquoise color. I really like the metallic finishes. I think it's great for a craft room. The drawers were nice and deep and the doors were quite functional. I guess I didn't know how the shelves worked inside. but I'm sure you could play with it a bit more in the store, they had a couple different pieces, this one reminded me of lockers and I actually thought it would be great for kids storage and in a kids craft space, but It was fun to see all the different pieces and this rolling cart was great next to the standing desks because it had this lip on the top that you could put a lot of different art supplies on and have access to them very easily again, the deep blue. in this line and then this mustard yellow one had a very attractive retro look and soft close drawers which are always a plus at any time.
Tip number four, take a look at the seats. IKEA has greatly expanded its line of office chairs in recent years. years and now there is a lot of variety and options for you to choose from depending on how you want your office chair to look and how you want it to feel. I happen to be a big fan of swivel chairs in craft rooms that you can easily move around and get to what you're looking for, so these are great. I especially like pink and blue. I also prefer to have craft chairs that are harder surfaces that are easy to clean because I often play with paint. and splashing things everywhere, but if you're looking for a little more comfort and a little more color, I'm in love with these particular chairs, they're called Shaw and the retro colors they come in are gorgeous, there are so many options. and there are so many chairs to choose from, definitely come in person and try them out.
If you're looking at this as a crafter, I can almost guarantee that storage is your number one priority in your craft space. Let me show you some of the storage options they offer. In the IKEA work area, these Helmer drawers are metal and have wheels, they are very small, which is awesome because you can fit a lot of smaller craft materials in them, but for the most part, when the drawers are installed correctly , they don't open. everything is very far away so it can be more difficult to place items in the back, as you can see almost every desk system has a movable drawer system that coordinates with it and fits under the desk or next to a desk, by far the most popular drawer units. at IKEA for crafters there are these Alex chests of drawers and they come in black and white in this beautiful blue color, in various heights and widths, and crafters use them in their craft rooms for all kinds of different purposes.
I actually have a set of these Alex drawers that work. with my desktop system I have created and it gives me some extra storage on the side and also helps me create a specific slot for my laptop storage on my desk before choosing a system make sure you list the things you expect to store it in there and determine what size, width and depth will work best for you, of course, it's always fun to personalize your craft room, so my last tip is to really check out some of the accessories, like these gorgeous pegboards from IKEA that They are really winning.
In popularity, I feel like every season IKEA adds new accessories that work with their pegboard system. Note that their pegboard system is unique, so you can't use standard pegboard accessories with an IKEA pegboard, but they are increasingly offering such options. work with theirs when it comes to storing books, containers and small pieces, this little nook is a great example of how to personalize your craft space. I love the desk add-on in the back that adds height to the workstation and more storage, plus the curtain rod. there to add display spots is really nice, especially just with the clips because you can easily switch them in and out.
Sumaira drawer units are amazing because they can be easily cut and custom fit into your drawer.
