I Painted My Clothes

Feb 23, 2020
Hi it's me so you know I like to paint things or maybe not maybe they're new if they're new. Hello, my name is Mariah, I look like I'm 15 years old, but I just turned 25 and I like to paint. things now you're stuck, so I'm going to paint something a little different than normal, something that I would normally paint, it's not the most efficient way to say that, but you know what I mean, I'm painting the jacket, okay? I could have just said it smells funny. I haven't washed it yet. Maybe I should have. There is no time.

I bought this jacket online. I'll leave a link in the description in case you want to check it out. It was the cheapest denim jacket. which I could find that wasn't absolutely horrible, that's why I chose it, it's not very good quality or anything, but it's decent and will work as my canvas for today, so are you ready? Let's do it, hey, it's me, but in voiceover mode now, so the first step: putting the jacket on the table, basically takes up my entire work surface. I'm going to use my matte fabric paint, don't ask me why the yellow one is so much bigger than the other colors, it's just fine.

More Interesting Facts About,

i painted my clothes...

So now I'm warming up here, it's super necessary, definitely not just putting off painting for real now and I'll start by painting the entire back panel of the jacket, which took me quite a while, in fact, painting doesn't really work like that. Until now, it was simply absorbed into the material, so this required a lot of paint and patience. No, I debated leaving the edges a little rough. I don't know why I have to add a barking sound every time I say the word. rough, oh my gosh, instead of leaving rough edges, I took the paint all the way to the seams and created a cleaner line.

Now I had to custom mix this color, but I clearly didn't mix it enough. Shh, okay, okay. goes on and we're enjoying some extreme close-ups here at the beginning of the video to bring that song up already, but what the heck, once I've filled the entire back area of the jacket and let it dry completely, I'm going to start sketching out my design, so I've never

painted

on

clothes

before, so I thought, you know, maybe let's do something that I'm pretty familiar with. I don't want to hurt myself by trying too many new things at once.
i painted my clothes
I'm very sensitive, so I'm painting a cupcake, that's right, another cupcake, so here I go starting to complete this. I wanted to do a semi-realistic painting here. I had no idea how difficult it was going to be. I usually use fabric paint. I like pretty cartoony designs, but never something like this where it's a real painting and there are a lot of layers and details, to be honest, although it was a lot easier than I expected once I had the first layer of pink covering the fabric where there was the painting. It no longer sinks into it, so it spread much more easily.
It's good, you know, fabric paint works well, so if you didn't know this big brown stain in the center of my cupcake, it's supposed to be a bite mark. a bite mark on my cupcake, well you know, it's simple, I see a big beautiful cupcake, it's not exactly beautiful right now, I want to bite into it, if I paint the bite there, I can get that satisfaction in a way that my eyes can bite it I'm going to stick with that, if you're thinking about trying this yourself for something like this, you absolutely need a brush on fabric paint, not puffy paint, puffy paint is great, don't get me wrong, and you can decorate

clothes

with it , but if you try something like this using a brush and doing a real painting you will hate yourself the bite mark gave me a little problem the problem was I was making it up I didn't have a reference or anything I couldn't find a photo of a really cute bite mark on a cupcake turns out to be not something that normal people feel the need to document because, in general, if you want something to look realistic, you have to work from a reference you know, a photo or really looking at the thing in front of you Once upon a time I took a drawing class we were only allowed to use charcoal and we were only allowed to create realistic self-portraits no, no, rainbows, not cupcakes, not cats with ice cream on their heads, I was terrible at that and it sucked my soul it was like some kind of prison of twisted art I just need a rainbow just one please no I actually learned a lot and it was very useful and I don't regret it and yada yada one of I remember the classes, I remember this girl brought a drawing and I hadn't used a reference for it, they burned it, so yes, long story short, it's very frowned upon to make realistic typographic art without a reference, but I'm here and I'm going for it, I make my own way, my own rules, my own jacket and if I want to create a bite mark without reference, then damn it, I'll do it.
This is my very silly form of rebellion. I'm going to interrupt. for a brief second because I have something really exciting to share with you, what was my voice a moment ago? I've been working on this behind the scenes for quite some time, it's Pickle the damn dinosaur, oh come here my daughter, look at this, oh it's. it's so cute, it's so soft, we have a dinosaur plush pickle available in my store, the link of course will be in the description and in the i cards above, you know I love plushies, I have a lot of them , I'm a collector who doesn't I don't love a good stuffed animal, you know I do, Marlow, she fell.
You'll receive a dinosaur plush pickle in your order, as well as custom packaging. She's coming out of the bag. I designed it and this cuteness here is just a little adoption certificate because pickle is special and he deserves it it's just for the adorable factor don't look at me look at the camera there is a limited quantity available for these we only have so many made once they are They sell out so I have no idea if we will reorder more or when that would be. If you desperately need a pickle, the dinosaur in your life, you probably want to order soon because I can't guarantee how long they will be there.
I am very excited. put this on my shelf and display it proudly because it's amazing okay I'll stop talking about pickle now and let's get back to the video I mean I'm still in the video but the main video okay bye so now we move on from the cupcake to the frosting and I go for white frosting. I used a lot of gray for the shading, so I'm blocking it in right now. I have so many flashbacks to that art class the teacher used to yell block. I'm already incorporating the general shapes and after they are all in place, I'm going to get into the details and let me tell you that I really enjoyed this experience.
It's not very often that I paint like this in a place like this. large flat surface, usually I'm painting a squishy or painting something in 3D, like I found it in a thrift store, so it was fun, I felt like a real artist painting on a canvas, I'm actually doing it, I'm an artist and then I realized I'm painting a giant cupcake on a jean jacket, sit down, I'm really proud of the tooth marks in the frosting because again I didn't have any reference for this so considering I just made it up Seems pretty legit, good job getting it out of my ass I

painted

it about eighty percent of this in complete silence.
Imagine that I almost always have some kind of TV show or audiobook to listen to while I work, but here's another long, meaningless story. I use a cable that goes from my camera to my laptop Oops, that's a spoiler, don't look at it this way, I get a preview on my laptop of what the camera is seeing, but on this particular day my cable decided No, I don't want this job anymore, I quit. to connect the camera to my laptop via wi-fi and you can't connect to the internet and the camera at the same time so I didn't have internet hence silence but it was actually kind of nice.
I felt strangely relaxed while painting this. therapeutic or something, I don't know, but the next day they gave me a new cord, so I'll probably never do that again. I think if I had to paint in silence all the time I would probably go crazy. I'm crazy about this. huge indentation in the frosting that is the ideal place for a huge cherry. I don't know why I insist on making cherries the size of beach balls, but you know, there it is. I made it again and I'll bring back some of that frosting. on the cherry you'll want to wait for the red paint to dry, although while that dries I'm going to go over the glaze again, it looks a little dull so I just want to brighten it up a little in some areas.
Okay, now it's dry, so we can go back and paint it so that cherry is nice and nestled in there almost looks like an apple. It's an apple cherry like a grape tomato, but instead of an apple cherry, you don't know, okay, now I'm going to add. some sprinkles on the frosting because of course why wouldn't you? I was just asking so you know what's coming. Finally finishing off that front frosting by adding more sprinkles adding some shadows to my apple cherry adding more sprinkles. I love them, but these sprinkles took forever. I had to paint the sparks and then paint a shadow under each spark and then paint a shadow on each spark.
It took me a lot longer than I would like to admit. Finally, I went around and added some little finishing touches, mainly I'm just adding very dark shadows. At this point, I usually leave the black for last because it's very harsh and very difficult to get over, so you just want to bring it in at the end. I also added two little sprinkles on the cake that must have fallen off when they were biting into the cupcake, that's how we tell the story with our art, so now I'm going to go around and paint the pink background color around the edge to clean it up.
Whoever bit into this cupcake has amazing teeth. She had perfectly straight normal upper teeth, but then monster lower teeth, you might want to get them checked and I realize this cupcake is pretty tall. I usually make the frosting too high, so this time before I started I thought, "Okay." I'm not going to make the frosting too tall, but instead I just made the cupcake too tall, why am I always sneezing while painting? What's happening to me? I also added some bright white highlights to the cherry and sprinkles. Okay, and now that's officially it. Done for the rest of the jacket, I'll keep it pretty simple.
I decided to paint these seams with all different colors. I regret painting this orange on the back. It reminds me of a construction vest or something I never intended to make. Cover the entire jacket with paint. I still want a lot of denim to show through because I want it to still look like a denim jacket, so I thought painting these seams would be a good way to make the rest of the jacket fun and colorful, but also not take up too much area, this was A little stressful because if you make a mistake and get paint on the jacket where it shouldn't be, which I did several times, there's really no way to undo it, it's really permanent on the fabric.
It could have been really bad, luckily it was in an area that is going to be painted anyway, so now that takes care of the back. How's the front? I didn't really paint the colors in any particular order. I thought I'd try to put in the colors. in rainbow order, but it's not really linear enough to do that because it's just seams going in different directions and pockets and top to bottom, so I just painted the colors where I decided I was going to like them. embrace the painted denim look, you know, it's not too sharp, you can still see the denim behind the paint in certain areas, I feel like it's a cool look, at least that's what I tell myself once I get it paint has completely dried.
Of course, I went back and fastened all the buttons and then I'll add these gorgeous enamel pins. Do these designs look familiar? So yes, these are brand new enamel pins that are now available in my store. I know new products in abundance. I'm going to sign my artwork. with my signature, are you ready for this? Oh, gosh, I don't think I'm ready for this. Clearly, I have no idea how to model. Apparently I can't even wear that damn thing. This is me searching. the armhole is fine, there is that, what is that? No, okay, I'm dancing now I'm dancing and here's the obligatory fake laugh.
What the hell are they laughing at? Nobody knows, not even they know. Okay, I'm getting into this now, maybe a little. too much and I'm spinning around a little dizzy now that opie has arrived, let's make him force opie to dance with me having a great time the longer this goes on the weirder it gets I'm starting to lose it I started doing weird things like this like What I'm running out of I wanted show the back of the jacket, but every time I turned around I felt like everyone was staring at my butt and I don't know how to feel about that, so here's my solution for that, which looks great. cute, really flattering, no it's not cute and neither is this.
I'm really trying. I have to give myself credit for that, but I don't see a modeling career in my future. Okay, I got over that train wreck, so here's the jacket. from mybe, thank god I'm actually super happy with this, it's strange and unusual to see this on a jacket but that's why I like it, I identify with the unusual, I'm usually a bit obsessed with everything being perfectly organized but messy. The look of the painting is great and I am so proud of how this cupcake painting turned out. It may not be perfect, but hey, I didn't even know fabric paint could do this, so I'm pleasantly surprised.
I hope you enjoyed watching it. I do this and if you paint a jacket yourself, be sure to tag me on Instagram. I'd love to see what you do. That's all for this week. Thank you very much for Mirando and I will see you next Friday, bye.
