I actually set up a double hot plate situation because this guy will need a lot of heat. I'll call him Jim. You will be my guide for today and us. I'm going to see if you can make the big package that I want to make. He feels like he's making a pancake for a whole town. Here we go. It was a whole box of pancake mix. I am a family recipe. I'll check it out when the edges start to harden and there's a lot of bubbles coming out and I'll cross my fingers because this pan was a godsend and I want to make a big pancake I'll see you guys in a bit so it's been like 20 minutes as you can see it's been It looks a little funny, there's like a ring of semicooked dough on the outside.

I'm going to say it's pretty raw. I think the problem is that there isn't actually enough heat to cook this pancake. I don't want all this dough to go to waste, so I'll just send this over to the kitchen and they'll make it. A very good bread pudding with pancakes. I'll be right back to try and make this giant pancake, hopefully, because it's heavy. Jim is not cooperating at the moment. I have a plan for a different type of dough that I think we will be. able to do it properly so we're going to melt a lot of butter because everything tastes better with it essentially what this is is more of a Japanese style pancake and they essentially made a lighter batter that focused more on the egg whites to help make it fluffy and instead of cooking it right in the pan and flipping it over, they cooked it almost like a sear or in a sort of broiler oven situation so they would rise up a lot and hold their shape and heat evenly so I'm going going to go for it so this butter is just going to melt that looks pretty melty i'm going to remove that in the next thing we're going to do that was part of a lot of the japanese style pancakes it was the egg whites so i got a good old trusty stand mixer here I'll call you Dave we got Dave and we got Jim hanging out in the back rusty friends for the giant pancake so it's going to have egg whites in here ace So we're going to beat these egg whites until they soften into peaks and then we're going to fold them into the rest of the batter so we're going to make the melted butter and then we're going to add some warm milk and then we're going to add more nice and frothy egg yolks in this big bowl I'm going to make flour and we're going to make some baking powder where they put this here oh look at Dave there he's doing the job these egg whites look nice and fluffy thanks Dave let's gently flip them into the dough I need to do the double fold technique I'm pretty sure that's not how we're supposed to do it, sorry pastry chefs sometimes you just have to go with the rather optimistic punches on this dough, so it's okay it's silky it looks pretty smooth so we're just going to transfer this over to give Jim hopefully one more last try okay okay so I do want to smooth this out a little bit this it is very good mu and smooth I'm gonna take this to our grill and pray it works so fingers crossed I'll see you guys out there you're a heavy boy Jim.

I'm glad the pan fits perfectly inside the grill. cooked and really nice and golden at the end quite nervous so we'll see please Since it's been 45 minutes I hope that's enough time to cook this pancake. I really want to see what it looks like so here we go this is crazy holy crap it's like a giant soufflé cookie which is cool ok there are a couple of cracks. I think it's okay let's figure it out the cracks will be at the bottom anyway okay let's go back and flip this so we've got a successful pancake attempt the battle isn't over yet we need to flip this guy . but I think I'm going to put this pan on top and they'll do something like this this is very very heavy okay how does this guy look this is a pancake that's right it's a cake made in this pan it's so soft is like a baby this is a hit pancake for the guys trying I don't think you'll be satisfied with just one pancake I'm going to have to make at least four or five more but before I do I want to tackle the butter so that's four sticks whole pieces of butter that have softened So if you think about it, each stick of butter has eight tablespoons, so if we use all of this, we'll have a butter score that's 32 times the size of a square of regular butter, that's a lot of butter, I feel like I should name this guy should call this guy Jimbo because we have Jim and then we have Jimbo.
I'm going to stop talking now and put this square of butter in the freezer, so I'll see you soon. the second one is ok that's two I'll name you Kevin this is the 3rd one ok better at this ok you can be George - Oh easy I hope you fell off the plate a bit ok I know what to call me right now it's ok i'll name you later sometimes you don't name your kids till later i hope my arms don't fail me oh that's cute then this guy will still pee here today but i'll name a pancake after him this is the one final pancake that might be the best yet I want to name this guy Eugene after Eugene pretty pretty flawless skin so we have one two three four five six giant pancakes it's been a journey and all that's left is to assemble them so we all have hands on work on all our pancakes we have some berries you have some syrup I am I'm going to try to be careful with my kids as much as I can okay Jim first where do you all look alike oh my gosh Jim is very resilient , Jim can receive a beating that's why he's going first because he's going to be under the other kids he's going to take all the pressure putting the whole team on his back literally so thanks Jim ok kevin and Jim on deck George has his two brothers rooting for him so he can rise and shine like the rest of us and then fourth we have the problem child the boy i forgot to give him a name oh ok that's to go on go on last but not least a boy Eugene I think he deserves it he doesn't it's here today i think it deserves a bit of a spotlight oh ok uh that's a pretty big pile of pancake icon here this is my piece there are some stones here we are putting the finishing touches i hope Accra is done happy inside if they eat it they will eat keith in eugene first oh this is for tiger sticks butter we have oh there it is i really dont know how heavy it is i just want to see i cant even but it definitely weighs at least 50 lbs as and just so you can see it's a normal size stack of pancakes, I'd say this is a hit.
