I Left 5 Things In Rock Tumblers For 30 Days...

Mar 01, 2020
Alright guys, the last time I did something with a

rock

turner you guys were so disappointed that I didn't use any kind of aggregate or sand or anything like that because I

left

pennies in the

rock

turner for 30

days

, but it was just pennies. So what we're going to do is redo that experiment, except now I bought two two-barrel stone vessels, so now I have five barrels, so we usually leave

things

in jars for 30

days

, so today we're going to leave five

things

in a rocks glass for 30 days our first barrel our first article of course we're going to redo the pennies here we go one got away and yes this time I have grits I think it's poured.
i left 5 things in rock tumblers for 30 days
I think I have four stages, yes, there are four stages, one. for each week, so it will be thought to be 30 days. The second thing we're going to leave inside the rock tumbler is something we're going to go really crazy and leave rocks inside the rock tumbler, so these are actually the rocks that came with this rock tumbler because I need to say they're a little different, they go to the two barrel rocks glass and these are obviously larger. I don't know anything about rocks, so it looks like we have some good ones. here some green and some good, our third article and one that I am personally very excited about dice.

More Interesting Facts About,

i left 5 things in rock tumblers for 30 days...

I'm very curious to see what will happen with the dice. Oh, these come with a little bag I'm going to assume they are. I'm going to go around, hopefully, that's what I hope is really cool, really set up with all these different colors and everything, and I purposely bought the ones with different colors, hopefully, then it will turn into something cool, now our fourth article and something else that I am very curious to see there are marbles. This thing had big marbles. I thought they were all very old, but I want to make marbles anyway because I'm curious to see since there's usually a stone down there.

Usually you take something very rough and smooth it out. I'm curious to see what happens if you take something that's already smooth and put it in the rocks glass. We're definitely going to go through this big one. Here are two great ones, alone or both. of the big ones here, okay, and now for the fifth and final item, no, it's not plastic. I'm going to sacrifice two glass jars, a lot of broken glass. We'll probably do one at a time, we'll put in a bunch of broken glass. in there and see what happens to the broken glass inside a glass of rocks, so I got my survival stick.

If you watched that video, three, two, one, two, break it into smaller pieces. Okay, I think actually a jar will probably do, so there's that. broken glass that everywhere will be fun someone will pick them up it won't be me now let's start filling them with sand there are four different types of grapes that come with this package there is a coarse one a medium one pre Polish a final polish so I will follow all the steps . I'll let each one run for a week. I don't know what it is exactly, but I feel like sand, honestly, two tablespoons per barrel to see two. two for you, the next thing we're going to do, what it says in the instructions, is fill them, fill each barrel until the water is up to it, it says rocks, but obviously whatever is in there, I hope these others are airtight because I, right?
I didn't read the instructions. Nothing escapes. I like this Barrett. There is a barrel that is the pin. I'm putting the pennies in this rocks glass. I like this barrel much better. You can see how soft these barrels are. like they still squish but like they aren't immediately like this one from Platteville I really like this one better I wish it came in these sizes right? I think you guys get the idea. I'm going to put the covers on. Alright, we've got everything loaded, these are the two new glasses, the two double cylinder glasses, you see, they just sit next to each other.
So, of course, this is the scene where the glass that I had in the last video was, so it was going to spin. these stands so you can see how loud it will be with all of them sorted at the same time, but there are extension cords to run them everywhere so it's been a week since all of our items have been the glasses like I said in At the beginning of Each stage there are four arena stages, so I'll finish with these updates, although since this stage the first is the most aggressive arena, I can only assume that this will be where we will see the most changes. and then because there is a very aggressive grain, then there is a medium and then there is a pre-polishing and a polishing, so the pre-polishing and the polishing will bring out a lot, guys see a lot, but these next two stages should be the new organist. most of the changes, so the first thing we have is we have our pennies and before we start looking at the pennies, as you saw well, every time I put them in that shorter barrel, the barrel that it had originally been in, I do not know what it is.
It's and it even did because I'll get to that here in a second, but I put them in that barrel, I put the sand and everything in there and then I ran a little bit and within if it wasn't like six hours, that barrel had built up. so much pressure that the lid had come off and the lid hit the garage wall and then all the sand and water and paints were spread all over the garage floor so I thought that was a little strange so I thought how about Maybe it was like I don't know what it was, maybe it was like the initial layer or something that rubbed off and caused pressure to build up or foam to build up or you know, whatever was going on, so I put all the pennies in. they were back there and then it worked for probably about 24 hours or so.
I took the lid off again and started looking at the glasses. The smaller glass spins faster than the two double cylinder glasses, so I thought, "Okay, I'll switch them." the double barrel tomboys spin slower so maybe they spin it so fast it causes pressure to build up so I changed this, changed the overhead lights and then within two days, maybe a day and a half, it blew up. The ones that were in that glass, so what I had to do was put all the pennies in, dry them out and then the last one, how many days were

left

, three or four or whatever, I took out all the water extracted from all the pennies and then , the paints have just been spinning, they just dried with nothing, with the addition they brought out water, so I think that's how I'll have to keep the pennies for the rest of the time without water because it will just keep the Remove the lid off the barrel for any reason, so every time we look at these pennies, obviously, they're not all of them, but they all look exactly the same no matter how you look at them.
I don't know how much you can see on camera but I can see in person they look pretty good, there's not really a lot going on and that's what I'm saying but that's because someone left a comment about this and I didn't I've double checked somewhere like 1983-84 74-64 something at some point around that time period they stopped using a couple pennies and since then I think they did, I think it's made of zinc with a layer of copper , so I would say the reason why all of these are so dark and there's no copper left on any of them and I even took them all out and took like a toothbrush and tried to scrub them because I thought maybe they were stained by the aggregate or whatever, but as far as I can say it's just that the copper layer is completely gone and this is whatever is under the layer sink or whatever and our second element is all rocks and Honestly, I'm pretty impressed.
All rocks are completely smooth, without sharp edges, especially this one. one just looks like a perfect little square, all the corners are rounded, it's doing its job, then the next one is one that really impresses me and I do it. I had no idea that this would happen or not, I have no idea, but I'm really surprised that this is working out this way, it's our broken glass, this is just this, obviously, this is not all, these are just some of the larger pieces which I think look great, each edge of this glass is completely round. now and everything is smooth and round, I mean, I get it, it's kind of like this, you know what the rock said it was going to do, but I wouldn't have thought that it would have made this with glass like this piece looks like. like a knife and it's something you know just by thinking that this is something that a week ago you could have cut yourself with it and now it's so round and so filed that it's completely smooth.
I'm actually really excited to see how these things are going to turn out when everything is nice and polished, if it's going to look as clear as glass right and next we have our dice, not these are really, I mean. I'm a little impressed because the dice are apparently made of something very hard, as I said at the beginning. I was expecting them to be really rounded and you know, almost um, like they were shaped like a marble. like practically nothing has happened to these dice, the only thing that looks different is that they look a little frosted from where the finish was removed, but practically nothing has happened to these dice, so yeah, lastly, but not least, there are the marbles and I know that I said at the beginning that, you know, I didn't know what to expect or anything with these marbles, obviously, these books also froze just because the covers were removed, but what I've noticed is especially with this one, you can tell.
You know it by the way it rolls, but it has a big flat spot here so you can't tell how it's like this one, it just looks smaller to me than some of the others. This one has a flat spot at two o'clock, you can tell by the way it rolls. I guess somehow one of these could get stuck and, I don't know, maybe it gets stuck somehow, so you get a flat spot. I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, that's what's happening, so we have everything back in their barrels and then, like the first time, we'll add two tablespoons of grip to each one.
This is a medium grit 180 to 220 silicon carbide, if you can really put two tablespoons on each. two heaping tablespoons and then these four we're going to get water and then like I said before, the paints will dry, now I'm going to put the lid on them and put them back in the glasses and see you. in a week alright guys this is our second update on our rock

tumblers

they have been running for two weeks now, one week with V whatever the aggressive grip was and then last week with the grain a little less aggressive, whatever it is.
The first thing that hasn't really changed much, to be honest, it's just some very slight changes, but I took out the marbles and every time you look at the marbles, you can look at these marbles and you can see in this hand, you can see. the ones that haven't been in a rock glass and you can see, and this one, the ones that have, you can see how much these marbles have shrunk. I would say less than half the size easily, so that's the biggest, that's really the biggest change I've noticed and really any of these, but that's pretty crazy, so in the end they'll be like who knows the size of a small ball or something at the end, but it sounds pretty interesting, let's move on to our rocks. or rocks, let's see I think maybe this one maybe this one too I feel like these three and maybe this one I feel like they've gotten significantly smaller I almost wish I had the original, I want to compare them, but I feel like especially this one is like this little square.
I feel like this one has gotten smaller, of course, I don't really have a real way to test it, but still, even with the rocks, there's not much change. Next, let's take a look at our dice, which as you can see, haven't changed at all, they still have, they still have all the paint on them, maybe under a microscope, you could see, maybe the corners have been rounded a little bit, but I really don't believe it. I think they are exactly the same the only difference is the finish is less shiny now let's take a look at our glass pieces just a little more rounded nothing really crazy I mean, here's our little knife-like piece from last time, obviously still very Boring, there's not really much to say, this is all just more rounded, more sanded and now we move on to the pennies which, in my opinion, I think are pretty much a lost cause at the moment because, as I said at the beginning. the copper coding or whatever was just completely removed and the zinc is what I'm almost sure now is underneath, that's all that's left.
I have scrubbed them, this Loxley is not all the pennies, but these are the ones I have. as scrubbed and tried to clean as much as possible, you still can. I don't know if you can see it on camera where it's so dark, but in person I can see that you can still see all the markings that you can see that it still says. once and you can see Abe Lincoln but it's all very smooth and very faded like this, some of these are so bad you can't even tell what it is, it's just flat, but this week we start the polishing process, this is the During next week we'll be doing a 500 grit silicon carbide pre-polishing, so of course we won't notice any difference with the pennies, but I'm interested in the glass and these marbles because obviously they both started.
Obviously the glass started out completely clear and the marbles were pretty clear and now they're very cloudy so now that I'm pre-polished I'm curious to see how much brighter they get.it'll come back just with a pre polish and then of course the polish and as before everything will get two tablespoons. What I forgot to mention was that I think I told you the first time that every time I had water in the pennies, it increased the pressure and I kept taking the lid off and I was wondering what it was, could it have been If it was the marbles or the glass, the second time I started doing that, although it never got to the point of boiling the lid because I kept catching it in time, but it got to the point where I don't have both.
The barrels in the glass and the bottoms curved so much that they would roll out of the glass because they didn't have any more room to expand, so I don't know what it was because they didn't. I didn't do it at first and they just did it with that medium grain or whatever and two for you and now everyone will get water except the pennies, so we know what kind of results that causes. Okay, I'll see you in a week, okay, this is week number three, let's make this cat quick because not everyone has changed the rocks, they still look exactly the same, you can tell they're maybe a little polished. , a little bit, but really. not much, they look exactly the same, the pennies, as you would expect, more or less exactly the same, you can see it if you can see it here, where they are so dark that they look like, yeah, they're softened. a little bit maybe they're a little bit polished but it hasn't really changed much, let's move on to the marbles, the same thing, basically, no change and especially when they're glass, you can say no, I mean, maybe yes.
They are a little polished. I can tell a little bit that maybe they're starting to get to where they need to be, but it's really not much, the only thing I noticed and I can't remember where is There's a marble right here that for some reason has a dimple in it and I guess maybe it got stuck. against something and then it ended up in the glass, it was like rolling against it and that's how it has this dimple, but it's the only one like that other than that there's practically no change in the dice, absolutely no change at all, they're not, they're not even I would say they are very polished, maybe a little bit, the paint is still there everything still looks pretty much exactly the same as before, so whatever type of epoxy or whatever these dice are made of is extremely difficult and now, the one that I think is becoming my favorite is the glass, the glass still looks pretty much the same as it did, I think it was this piece or maybe this one that I didn't just do it.
Oh, I rubbed all the aggregate, I took some Windex and I actually rubbed it thinking that maybe maybe the haze was like part of where the aggregate was like drying on the glass or something, because it's not like that, it just didn't. It doesn't even look like anything has happened, even after a week of being on it and I pre-polished it, it looks basically exactly the same, maybe. the final polish will make it clear again. I have no idea, let's put them back in the barrels with our final polish and now the polish, which if you're wondering is a fine twelve hundred grain aluminum oxide that's not published, looks like milk in there, okay, that's good. for me, I will recover these things from the glasses.
I'll see you in a week okay guys our 30 day Rock doubling show has come to an end and before we look at these things I just went ahead and told you that the results aren't really impressive, at least not I'm really impressed with the home and nothing really looks much different than it did last week, maybe my expectations were too high. I really know. but anyway let's take a look at these things, obviously here we'll start with the rocks first and like I said, they don't really look much different than they did last week, there's something I'll show you here.
One second with these, I mean, they obviously look a lot better than what you knew from the beginning, compared to now, there's a big difference, but from pre-polishing to polishing, I mean, I don't notice it, I don't know any difference. . not at all, maybe so slightly, but every time these rocks get wet, they just get wet, this is what I expected. Every time you look at them wet, you can see how different, how much shine they have and they just look so much better. This is the look I expected every time I fight the Poles now, like I said, maybe my expectations were too high, maybe to get this kind of shine on these rocks, maybe it's like a completely different series of steps or maybe that. you just need a much finer polish or whatever.
I really do not know. I really have experience with moving rocks, so I think the results are pretty much yes. I think they could have been better, but that's it for rocks. Now, let's get it out. out of the way, remove the pennies, you can see they obviously look exactly the same, now they're pretty much solid black and you can't tell any other, just a little bit faded, obviously these aren't all of them. These are just the ones that I really scrubbed a lot and the ones I rented gave me a lot of benefit as I basically couldn't tell any difference between now and after the first week like I said throughout this entire video.
I'm pretty sure it just took well, you know, took off the outer layer of copper and then we're left with the zinc, so nothing exciting here, now let's move on to the glass, it's still kind of frosted and it still looks pretty, Let's say there's a small piece of knife that we've been looking at throughout this entire video, it's still visible. I mean, I'd say this almost looks pretty much the same as it did after the second week. I was really hoping with that polish obviously, since this is how it started. If this is like say this little piece of knife, if this becomes clear and almost perfect like this, I think it would look really amazing and especially like pieces, just strange pieces like this, if you make them again, you know, really clear and Perfect again I'm not perfect, but you know, I'm saying you can see through them very clearly.
Actually, I would probably use Tobal Glass in my free time just because it looks cool, but like I said before, if you take it into account at the time. Let's say this piece is something that at first after it first broke, it would have been like you just cut your hand and then you know how it's been heated and rounded, that's still pretty cool, but I just wish it was clear . and not frosted like this, like I said, it looks pretty much the same, it's last week, moving on to the marbles and probably some of the ones that have had the biggest change if you don't count these big ones here if you take these. the big ones that the equation which like I said at the beginning I wish I had left out one of these and kept one of these so we can see how much it went down that's what these two particularly looked like here these pie yeah I'm sure it started exactly the same and you can see, obviously, that the before and after have shrunk.
I would say, I mean, what would you say? It's probably a quarter of the size it was if they could be polished. Go back to being as clear as they were originally, but being this small. I think it would be something unique and cool. The previous one that had a little bit of Dibble. I still don't believe I mean it's obviously just polished. It went up a little bit and it's a little brighter than it was at the beginning, but I think I actually think that dimple got bigger since last week anyway, those are the marbles that all they did was drink from and freeze, so now that we're done looking at all the results and everything.
I'll quickly tell you about the equipment I used. You know, the rock tumbler is the one I used in case you're thinking about getting into rock tumbling because that's the stuff I learned and there's a few things you need to know. This glass is the one I used in the original video where I made the pennies in a stone glass which was this glass from a dr. Cool hobby glass. I'm sure you can probably look it up on Amazon, that's where I bought it this time. I love this glass. This thing is great. I have not had any problems with this glass and have used it twice as much. these glasses because obviously I used them in the original video which is thirty days and this one was 30 days.
I haven't had to change a belt at all and as you can see it's all dirty and stuff because, as I explained, the pennies kept flying off the top. the glass and then all the water and the big wood leaked all over this thing and even the belt was wet and it kept spinning, there was no problem with this glass, there was even a day when every time the split broke, the whole thing the lid was flying so All this you know everything was great and everything if the belt was wet and all the pennies, the glass, the barrel itself was still here rolling with the lid off and it was still going well so this glass is great for both.
These sparks are Chicago electrics that I got from Harbor Freight and obviously as you can see from this one, like the screws and things that were removed because they're unpredictable, that's what I'm assuming because obviously I only have experience with two. of them but what I can tell you about these two is that this perfect one has no problems not even a minute of this I have not had to do anything I have not had to touch anything anything this has been a complete nightmare and I don't know why, I have taken apart both and just compare them every time you get them, the drive belts obviously turn the rollers that turn the barrels that it comes with, it comes with a belt on it and then it comes with five spare belts this glass broke it broke eight belts the belt that it came with broke the five spare belts broke two belts that came out of this one so it's on its ninth belt and I don't know why the only thing other than just being a quality control issue is supposed to In the instructions you must lubricate the rollers once a week, I have not lubricated this one. since i didn't get anything even once on this one, i was winding it like once after he broke the first two belts, i thought it was ok, i followed the instructions, i thought it was ok, you know, the part needs lube, so that look at how the belts break, I started threatening him like every other day and sometimes several days in a row for the rest of this entire video and they still broke belts continuously, this type of glass is great, these are unpredictable, so if you go to get you into the world of rocks, I would have done it.
I would recommend a single barrel, not a double barrel, unless it's a high quality one, but with these from Harbor Freight, you could just play the lottery if you're going to get a good one. Our battle. Thank you so much for Watching I hope you enjoyed the video, if there is anything you want me to re-leave in a rocks glass for a long period of time please put it in a comment below. See you at the next one.
