I Gave Away $2,700,000 of Clothes
Apr 20, 2023each year more than 92 million tons of clothing are wasted, 92 million which is equivalent to 500 million dare to close or 70 million school buses weighing or the size of 563 football stadiums that are simply thrown into landfills drastically damaging the environment, so on one hand we have so much waste and on the other hand we have people all over the world who just need a simple t-shirt which comes down to so many factors and that's exactly why I put our team and all our resources to get as much unused and overproduced clothing as possible. ending up in landfills and rather in the hands of the people around the world who need it most, so we reached out to our friends at champion, who quickly jumped on board with a massive donation, as well as Bridgewater, and in total they donated over 2 ,7 million. dollars worth of clothing, we now head to the Hopi reservation in northern Arizona dating back to the 12th century, where they have built their traditional sandstone villages on these massive rocky cliffs and desperately need our help to stay. warm through the cold winter months upon arrival, Darren met Wendy, who is on the forefront of improving the lives of her fellow tribesmen and has been fighting to do so for so many years that there are over 10,000 members of the tribe.
Hopi tribe The term Hopi refers to the peaceful people who were taught to be caretakers of the land. These people don't have much they are some of the most generous people you will ever meet. The ability to have immediate access to things is not there for us Hopi. The tribe is situated hundreds of miles
away
from the nearest quality food and clothing stores, which is bad because the winters here are very cold and they need all the help they can get to stay warm and put food on the table. People are saving what they have like heating resources they can't freely burn the wood they bought because of its cost when we first got here I realized what a big task we had ahead of us the amount of clothing that was delivered as a cow. we were never going to get over this, people had driven from all over the state for hours on end to come and help us prepare for this distribution.I first understood that we were going to get some
clothes
, we're going to get a palette or two. and when they told me the amount was like wow that's going to be huge because they have to travel so far people don't even have cars then i started to realize how much this meant to these foreign people just seeing the excitement of everyone like wow this is not just newclothes
but this is very very nice clothes it was amazing our kids our people are so happy it means a lot to us not only wanting to give but also wanting to learn about about us. a big believer in signs my eyes are probably all red rain in the summer snow in the winter is what we want so when we're done you know share with peaceful entropy and the snow fell just as it was over i took that how you were supposed to people to be here and they are good people, I will always be grateful for that, thank you gentlemen bees, maybe some of the young people will realize that there are people who think of them.We have forgotten that we were so touched by the Hopi people that we wanted to help them even more and when we spoke to their community we found that they were also struggling with food insecurity, so we brought 13 tons of fresh, non-perishable food to help reduce their problem. food shortages and provide them with 25,000 nutritious meals. You can make an ongoing significant impact on the lives of Hopi people by clicking the Donate button below and 100% of the proceeds from the Donate button will go to the Hopi Relief Fund.
