I FINALLY EARNED MY EAGLE SCOUT
now i know what most of you guys are probably thinking right now wow colin is still in boy
scouts isn't he like 18 he's such a loser i hate him well i'm proud to be a boy
scoutand recently i just got my
scoutaward which is the highest ranking boy
scouts and you have to do a large project around your town to do this and in this video i'm going to tell you what i did so in my town there's these street signs that say the name of the street pretty simple right well some of them are literally black and i wanted to fix them up so i got the idea to make my project painting all the black signs and making them into white signs first i had to pick out which signs had mold on them and which signs were just dirty so for the signs i had molds on them you can't paint on so i assigned my dad to spray them with a bottle of bleach we waited five minutes for the chemical reaction to occur and then he scrubbed all the nasty schmutz off of it and the reason i used my parents to do this project and on actual
scouts is because corona was happening and this was in like march so everything was just getting like shut shut down and i didn't want to break any of the social distancing policies that's so i hate that term i will always hate that term for the rest of my life social distancing especially when karen say it but anyway next i got a big hunk of water and had my dad doused the half moldy sign in it then we grabbed sandpaper and made perfections on the side...
about half the signs i painted needed this process to be done otherwise we have to paint over the mold which results in just crummy stupid paint so we had to remove the mold before that and you could see in this sign very well all the mold just shivers off i don't know what happened to the other side the other side was still kind of dirty but this one's just perfectly clean and i love it i look really fat here but yeah you could see me scrubbing off the mold barnacles off the sign it felt like we did so much but the project hasn't even started yet so we opened the paint and began painting the actual signs and i was just looking out for traffic which essentially meant i did nothing because when you're leading an
scoutproject it's basically illegal to work on the project yourself so i just had to sit back and watch paint dry which is what you guys are doing but imagine doing this for god knows how many hours oh my god next up was the black paint and the black paint took twice as long as the white one because it took precision effort and just that extra oomph to get you to where you needed to be this is my mom painting the monument and the monument was hard for her because she has a fake hip but she pulled through it she is a hard worker and she pulled through it and i'm glad she did once the signs were painted though we had to do more boring stuff which meant we had to download the entire
scoutapplication which took over an hour to fill out...
and then forms massive binder with all of the paperwork inside of it but in this binder is actually a before and after of the signs which this part was pretty cool i like to see the effort in just two pictures all the effort just coming at you it felt nice to look at but next i got my final merit badge ever family life i love my family so much then i had to write my
scoutapplication essay which that took forever everything just takes forever in this process if you ever went through it you know the struggle but yeah i finished this and we went to our paper drives which i've been doing for god knows how long ever since i joined voice couch what we do every second and last sunday of every month is we bring papers from one thing to another thing and this usually takes about two hours if we're lucky at the end of this paper drive though it was my final one i asked my
scoutleader for his signature and he gave it to me he signed it and all i had to do was put this other signature in the mailbox and i was ready the
scoutborder review the final test to test if you are ready to become an
scoutyou have to sit there it's like a job interview for boy
scouts and this is the hardest one to pass and i went in nope something didn't get signed something happened a person didn't do something but yeah it got rescheduled for this date which is the day before my birthday which after 18 you can't be an
scoutso this was on the brink of failure is...
my last chance my final chance i walk up to the cabin and i did it they gave it to me they said congratulations you're becoming an
scoutand this meant a lot all this burden was just off my shoulders next thing you know a few days later i get an envelope with my name on it and inside of it is my official
scoutreward the letter a signature from the president and a little card that comes with it with over three delays it happens because of kovid
finallyin november my aunt sent me cookies these cookies were so incredible and speaking of cookies my mom actually made cookies for the ceremony which was on november 22nd 2020 the worst year ever but yeah she made these cookies and these cookies were insane like she spent more time on these than actually painting and that took god's eternity but
finallyi put on my mat i hate these masks they suck honestly and set up socially distanced
scoutceremony i laid all of my
scouting artifacts on this one table and ew i look set up the beautiful cookies the cake and wow the cookies i practiced reading my speech which was an absolute disaster if anyone that was there is watching this sorry the other
scouts did way better and i
finallydid it i got my
scoutthey did at least two hours of long speeches and even they acknowledged that they were boring but yeah i got my
scoutit's crazy i didn't think i would actually make it i thought i would make it to tenderfoot and just quit but it's just...
been a long journey and i'm glad i actually finished it not a lot of people can say that only two percent of all
