I Bought An Entire Outfit From Instagram Ads

Feb 27, 2020
This is Safiya's new intro song. Hello friends, welcome to another video today. I'm purchasing a full set of Instagram sponsored posts that appear in my feed. So I

bought

things from Instagram and other social media sites before to test their advertising algorithms and see how well they really know me and if the products shown in their ads are any good, because a lot of times the ads are for companies that seem friendly . But I'd never heard of that before, so this time I decided to focus specifically on clothing to test whether Instagram's algorithm, given what they know about me, can take these new brands and give me recommendations that I might like. so I'll buy the first items of clothing in every category I can find.
i bought an entire outfit from instagram ads
I already follow a lot of makeup and clothing brands on my Instagram, so they have information on what I like style-wise. My ads are published quite sparingly. So it will probably take me a couple of weeks to buy the full set. I've also noticed that Instagram ads can be quite expensive, so I'll limit each item to a hundred dollars. Alright, let's start hunting. so I haven't found any clothing ads yet, unfortunately my ad today was for lip gloss. But I wanted to show you what Instagram says about how they show ads to people, and they're basically saying that they use information about what they do. on Instagram and Facebook, its parent company, and on third-party sites and apps, in addition to the information they already have about you based on who you follow and what you like.

More Interesting Facts About,

i bought an entire outfit from instagram ads...

They also follow you a little bit online so they like what you give them voluntarily, and what they see you do too so we'll see how the clothes are and if they've been looking correctly, okay? So I found an Instagram ad for pants. This is a revamped denim ad. It looks like it's mostly jeans and shorts. And it seems like her signature look is a star embroidered on her butt and not a small one, almost like a big star. Covering the

entire

loot area, ah, look, here we go. They have a 90s edition and an 80s edition.

Wow, and the 70s edition is okay, although I like this Venus edition because it seems like it has the star, butt thing going on. They showed me a star's butt. , I want a star butt, ooh, in fact, it's not cheap. I would say it's expensive, but it's not as expensive as other clothes I've seen on Instagram ads, so I think we should try it, so let's get these. I got a 20% off coupon when I added it to cart, so now. It costs $70, which is still expensive, but at least we have a discount. Yeah! I wouldn't necessarily say that the jeans advertised by revice denim are definitely my style.
i bought an entire outfit from instagram ads
I don't wear a lot of light wash flared jeans, but I feel like there are a few reasons why I might have been chosen to show this ad. First of all, I've

bought

some strange denim items in the last year, so perhaps I've been labeled as a strange denim buyer, and interestingly, Revice also categorizes many of their styles by decade. and I've done a lot of research on fashion for decades. So maybe they saw me looking through JC Penney catalogs from 1977 and said, ooh, try this company, maybe it'll be good. Then I found this Instagram ad last night when It was like in bed, completely in the dark.
It's like the light from my phone illuminates my face. You know, the front camera. And, um, I got so nervous that it was going to disappear the morning I bought it. And then I took a screenshot of everything, so I bought this t-shirt from Life Clothing Company. There seemed to be a lot of different shirts. They're like retro graphic t-shirts or retro style graphic t-shirts, so I bought this Elevated with the mouth of the ocean t-shirt because that's the one I was on. as it was first announced to me. Shipping was only five dollars, but the shirt was $45, so while it meets our criteria of being under a hundred dollars, it is an expensive shirt.
I would say this shirt is somewhat my style in terms of why Instagram would think I would do it. like this. I probably hit a lot of your target demographic checkmarks, like I'm a young adult woman living in California, so I can wear a t-shirt pretty much any time of year as well. We're currently editing this video and Tyler just remembered that I was looking for '70s band t-shirts or t-shirts with '70s graphics, like in early October when we bought this for the 1977 video. A lot of Sex Pistols t-shirts I was looking at, I want say, listen, if that's where they got them from, they got them.
That's right, that's not necessarily my style, but it's what we make videos about. That's true. Since purchasing this shirt, I have also seen more ads for the same company on my Instagram feed, as well as Revice the Jeans Company. So I guess Instagram is making the safe bet that I'll like things I've already bought, after days of finding ads for over $200 per item on Instagram. I swear Instagram thinks I'm a big spender because they like to keep showing me things where they're like Ooh, come see our designer jacket and you'll click on it and it'll cost you like $700, but I found today in this ad Moonstar Planet earrings that I really think they're adorable and I checked it out and they're only $24.
Cute earrings with a good price. It's kind of like mine. You know, it's like a dark night, the moon is out, the werewolves are howling. Oh, it looks like the reviews aren't very good, but this is one of the first clothing and suit ads I've gotten in a long time. That's not tremendously expensive, so I think we have to get it. I think Instagram's ad serving algorithm really pulled off that kind of witchy, lady of the night vibe that I think matches a lot of the clothing brands I already follow. Instagram, so if you keep that in mind They did a good job matching me with this ad.
Well, it's around midnight. We're actually about to go to bed, but I finally found an ad for shoes that cost no more than $200. So these are the shoes that we are going to get, these are from ModCloth. They are like boots that appear to have fake zippers on the side. So this is the casual influence boot in Cognac, it looks like they don't have my size. This color, but let's try black. I don't have my size in black. Let's try to see if they have my size in black. I don't care, I'm fine with film noir, so let's do this in film noir. so shoes, look, I think these boots are kind of my style.
I mean, they're kind of neutral colored booties. So it's pretty hard to be offensive to someone's style unless you're really against closed-toe shoes. ModCloth is a company that I've heard about this before, although I don't normally shop there, but if I had to guess why Instagram referred me to this, I think it's because of the price, I might have noticed that I clicked on a ton of ads but I didn't buy any of them. the really expensive ones. And I think on Instagram, whether or not they think this is my style, they're probably like, hey, you might like this price.
And we want to make a sale, so take a good look at them, so it's 1:18 in the In the morning I was scrolling down quite a bit on my Instagram. I'm just trying to find a Solo jacket because it's probably been a week since I ordered anything else. I've seen a couple of jackets that once I like them, I go back to try to buy them, they're not there anymore, like I literally like them. be like oh, I should go record this and then it's like the algorithm looped it, and it just disappeared, so I'm not going to take any chances this time.
This is for clothes straight to hell, which is actually a clothing account I already follow, but This specific post is sponsored so I'm wondering if they bought a sponsored post to make it appear for people who already follow them or if I'm like in your Demographics for the ad you bought in this ad, there are a few different jackets for men and For women, the first women's jacket is this velvet look jacket, which when I click BUY NOW it says it's the Jackson jacket by $85, which seems to be right up my alley for the right price and it's still here, so let's do it.
I think this jacket is definitely in my style camp because it's from a brand I already follow and I feel a little bad that they like to waste their money on advertising on me since I already follow them. Reminds me how on Facebook? I'm often asked to spend five or ten dollars to promote a post on my Facebook page, and it's always unclear whether the people seeing it are people who already follow me or just new people. But either way we got the jacket and completed the purchase. our Instagram ad set. Honestly, I'm excited. It has taken a long time to develop.
They have spent a couple of months preparing the cultivation announcements. Okay, finally we have the

entire

set of Instagram ads here. I'm pretty sure we got the jeans first, so let's start with our revamped denim jeans. So these jeans were probably the most problematic. group item about a month after purchasing them I tried to check them and see where they were only because I felt it was a reasonable amount of time to wait for them inside and USPS told me they were lost. They couldn't find them and that my tracking number was nonsense and then I tried to contact the Revice denim company and didn't hear back from them and mysteriously a week later the jeans showed up.
So I don't know what happened or how they got there. I got here to be honest, but by some carrier. They were delivered in about six weeks overall. I would say they have that kind of vintage vibe that they were going for. In fact, there's a star on my butt. I do not know if. It's a super flattering star, but definitely an overall attention-grabber. I think I like these jeans. But I don't think I would recommend them just because of the shipping calamity I went through and they are also a bit pricey. How much would you at least wear these jeans?
They are like unique, fun and interesting pants. They're not really like the jeans you wear every day, unless you want a star on your butt every day, which you probably do. Next we have this graphic t-shirt from Life Clothing Company. I'd say it got here in a pretty decent time. And it seems to be what is advertised. I like that on the label. It says Made in Los Angeles. I feel like I should have received it quicker if it's from here. It took a couple of weeks to get to me. Okay, so this is what reminds me of the whale's mouth in Pinocchio and also that's famous as Japanese wood art, it's wood art like the wave.
I know what you're talking about, but I think this shirt is a little expensive for what it is. It's a nice feeling. . It's pretty soft. I'm sorry, I was going to touch your boob. Oh, it's cute Yes, but I think for a graphic t-shirt it's a little expensive below. We have our straight to hell clothing jacket that looks like a coffin. It's velvet on the outside and satin on the inside or a hearse of some kind. Or like a coffin hearse, that's all I have. I don't know. That's all good. So this is the jacket on my body.
Honestly, I really like this jacket. It has a cool Moto 80 velvet sort of feel and there are lots of little diamonds, triangles and shapes, yes I'm pointing in a lot of different directions although I really enjoy this jacket and the company. which comes from I feel a little bad that they spent money to show an ad to someone who already follows them is like what's the point of paying to reach your own followers? You know, hopefully you'll post to reach your followers. Hopefully, and then next up are these black boots from ModCloth. They look like pretty normal looking ankle boots, I'm pretty sure these zippers are decorative.
I don't know if I could really close them. I would say that every other element of the set has a nice style or feel or vibe to it. And I would say that these boots are more like whatever you want to do with them minus the decorative zipper that you can't close, so if you want them to be closed you're out of luck, so ModCloth is a company I've known for quite some time. So this purchase isn't really like trying a new and like an untested company vibe. But it's more like wow, these are the only shoes under $150 on Instagram that I could find over the course of two months, they're like, are you Tired of expensive ads?
Buy $60 boots and think they sound great. and last but not least are the planetary earrings as a finishing touch to the

outfit

. I don't necessarily think these earrings bring everything together, but the stars are very prominent, so I have stars on the lobes and stars on the butts. I really like these earrings. I feel like they are somewhat asymmetrical, interesting, heavenly. I don't know what this is, but I'm feeling it. So I feel like I like the style. I found a new company I like and I didn't care about the price. little moon in the night sky of my sideburns, good.
So this is my entire Instagram advertising set. If I have tocharacterize how Instagram wants me to dress, I'd say it's like a muted color palette and faux vintage feel II, I'd say I feel like Donna from that 70s show, there's a bit of an urban cowboy vibe. But I think my main vibe is that of a '70s semi-tomboy. Individually, I don't really dislike any of these items, and I think they're all of them. in a range of something I could wear, which is great But I think the only things I would buy on my own without the video would be the earrings and maybe the jacket.
It is a bottle cap opener. That will be helpful in terms of how? I customized the recommendations where I suspect they were seeing some of the things I was looking for on other platforms and also once I purchased from a few companies they showed me those ads again so overall there was probably some level of customization but I feel that they will follow me around the Internet and potentially watch me through a webcam. The ads could probably be a little more specific. I mean, if you're going to spy, you know, maybe give me better ads. or don't spy, just choose one or the other, probably thank you all so much for watching, if you like that video make sure to hit the like button and if you want to see more videos like this make sure to hit the subscribe button.
