in the last few minutes shots were fired near the corner of Madison and Michigan, we now had a news team at sea, but they had to move for safety reasons. I was there a little earlier, about an hour and a half ago, and I saw thepolice
escorting the tourists and visitors to their cars in the parking lot of Millennium Park. The crowd was trying to get into Millennium Park. but their checkpoints that do not allow entry to those under 21 who are not accompanied by an adult, so they are concentrated across the street, on the other side of Michigan Avenue.I spoke to a woman whose car was crushed by people jumping over the windshield, she says the crowd started beating her husband when he said in the driver's seat that he was now sent to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I also spoke with a Chicago native woman who was horrified by what she saw. he is having a good time with his second bad parenting, he has to do better as parents, our children should not be here, we are gaining parents, that is my question, the situation continues to develop at this time, as we mentioned, we have a reporter in the scene but there are some security issues Nate Rogers from Fox 32 is out on Michigan Avenue in a protective position Nate, can you tell us what you see now?

Listen to this word Dane um, as you just mentioned, we are in the middle of Michigan and Randolph. probably a block from where the chaos originated right now the Chicago police are trying to clear Michigan Avenue at least from um Randolph to maybe three or four blocks south in Michigan um very active scene in fact

of officers they are working on this investigation um there are unconfirmed reports by Chicago police of multiple people being shot in Michigan and Washington, Michigan and Wabash have also been told that the Chicago Fire Department is here along with paramedics and paramedics Chicago SWAT teams all helping in this investigation now that the chaos heredowntown
started or broke out just before 8 PM several hundred youths traveling in groups children seen jumping over barricades in Millennium Park also jumping over cars other reports indicated large groups trying to force his way into the Art Institute this appears to be one of those teen takeovers we saw publicized extensively on social media last year drawing thousands downtown as well as Chicago area beaches it looks toteenagers
with their cell phones turned off, um, Bluetooth music speakers, dancing loudly while recording videos in the hopes that they'll go viral, now I'm back here live. really just in the last 10 minutes or so me and my photographer Rafael heard at least four shots where we were standing in michigan and washington we ran along with another tv news crew just to get to safety maybe five minutes after that we hear even more gunshots and right now the Chicago police are trying to clear this area if you can see from where I'm standing right now traffic blocked actually I mean um Chicago police here in big number along with the paramedics from the Chicago fire department we understand that SWAT Teams are here as well.Many people are being redirected to nearby public transportation just so they can get home. We have also seen police trying to escort tourists back to their hotels. The Chicago police are working right now to control all of this. i haven't received any updated information as to whether there have been any casualties associated with any of this which is the latest here in downtown

nate rogers fox 32 chicago nate just to clarify i want to ask you quick uh you're standing on the corner of michigan in randolph is michigan Avenue closed right now yes sir at least by our standards our vantage point um Dan but keep in mind I'm Michigan and Randolph is probably 500 feet from where I'm at I'm a little further in you know closer to the lake if you want , we really had to get out of the way because teens were running, officers were running from our point of view, you can't even, I don't even think there's traffic flowing along.Michigan Avenue because, um, the cars are stopped right now, yeah, and since that shot it looks like at least, uh, Michigan Avenue has been closed.
