I'm going to put one like this and one under the first one and then I'm going to choose the one at the bottom and I'm going to tie them together and then I'm going to do. the ropes on both sides. I will repeat this again for those of you who were learning this technique for the first time. Now this is not the only way to do it. There are other ways to make DIY feathers but this is the way I've been using and it works for me, it may seem like it's a lot of work but trust me, when you get the hang of it after making three or five you will notice that your hand will taste exactly what to do and it will be much faster when I'm done.

I glued it to the back, then turned it inside out and combed it. I'll go both ways. If you've seen an ostrich or a photo of an ostrich, you'll notice. The feathers are a little fluffier than other feathers you find on other birds, so with this technique you are sure to have a much fluffier feather. I'm cutting it out to give you your feather shape. I'm done with the pen and This is what mine looks like and this is what the one I bought online looks like. Also, the next thing I'm going to do is attach all the feathers to a lampshade.

Now you can use any screen, but I would recommend you use a wider screen. What I had was a lampshade that is not too wide, but I would like to have a wider one, so I recommend that you use a wider shade that way the feathers will stretch more because I already bought some feathers online. I'll mix the ones I bought with the ones I made and attach them all to the display. You should try your best to cover the entire screen with the feathers because the fuller it is, the better. Now we will move on to the base is a wooden left base that I bought at Walmart and this is the only item that I use for this project that was quite expensive i.e. $32.
Now I am going to remove the top and then stretch the wire. I'm doing this because I want it to be a floor lamp, so I'm going to increase it and give it four extra feet to make it stand upright. I will use empty contact paper rolls. These are not paper towel rolls. These are contact paper rolls. You can use any other thin but strong roll you get from the packaging, maybe even the ones you get from wallpaper. I'm going to cut this in two and attach them to the base of the lamp. I'm going to do something here to extend it a little bit.
Make it look like a stem using aluminum sheets I got from the Dollar Tree. Now I use the lamp base and this technique to make this extra stem here to make it look a little realistic, similar to the picture, if you don't mind. To make it exactly as it is in the picture, you can go ahead and use a normal lamp and just make your lampshade and then put it on top and that's it, to give it a continuous texture as a base. I'll be using the same sheets of foil to give me the texture I want from this side here all the way up when I was done, I took it out and spray painted it gold when it was dry, put it on and fixed the shadow. what I did with it, the lamp turned out beautiful and I enjoyed this project.
