How to use a Seedbox with Sonarr Radarr and your Media Server

Jun 05, 2021
Hey guys in this video you're going to see how to use a seed box with sonar radar and

your

home

media

server

sounds interesting let's get started so over the last few months I've been getting a lot of questions from people asking about how to set up a seed box. seeds and then configure it to work with

your

home

server

, especially programs like sonar and radar, but before we start, let's talk about what exactly a seed box is because if you haven't heard of one before then you would be forgiven for thinking you have something to do with gardening but what it actually is is a private online server used to upload and download torrent files and if you are familiar with torrents you will know that you get cedars and leeches, hence the name the box of seeds, so why would you want to use the seed box if you can download torrents directly to your computer or server at home?
how to use a seedbox with sonarr radarr and your media server
Well, there are some really good reasons why you might want to use the seed box. The most obvious is privacy. and because Seed Box is a private online server, it has its own IP address, so when you download a torrent file, you download it through the IP address of that server and not through the IP address of your connection domestic, so your ISP has no idea about that. You are downloading a torrent, but one of the best reasons to use a

seedbox

is that

seedbox

es have a very high bandwidth connection, which is much faster than our home connections, so we can download and upload torrents at really good speeds. and this is great for private trackers who want you to maintain a good ratio within a few weeks of using a seed box.

Your ratio will be really good and another good reason to use a seed box is that you are not using your own. connection to upload normally, if you torrent on your own computer, download the torrents and then leave them seeding for a while while you upload the file to other users, so that the upload portion of your home Internet connection is constantly used now normally. Home connections don't have great upload speeds anyway and you don't want them to be clogged with torrent uploads, especially if you're using an MB or board server and streaming your

media

to friends and family because they're just calling you. you're on the phone complaining about things being buffered and saying what's wrong with the server so by making the torrent allow the seed box you're leaving your bandwidth on your home connection free to do what you want and also the display box.

It is available 24/7, so you can always upload and download files whenever you want. Now you may be wondering what happens when the display box actually has the files downloaded for you, how do you get them to your computer? Well, we use some open files. source software called sync and we use this software to securely sync the entire folder in the seed box with a folder of our choice on our computer or server at home, so basically as soon as the torrents finish downloading into the box of seeds, it will be transferred directly to your server at home, we can even configure the seed box to decompress any downloaded torrent files and to sync just send the unzipped files to you at home, so what I am going to do in this video is setting up our talent in the seedbox and so it doesn't have any local radar on my unread server at home and asks them to use our utorrent to do all the download sync, then it will send those files to my server and now I'm Rader you'll see them process them and move them ready for Plex or MB okay so let's get started and set this up obviously for this project we'll need to sign up for a seed box and the raverus providers out there.
how to use a seedbox with sonarr radarr and your media server
I can use the supplier I use is Ultra Seed Box. I've been using them for a few months and found their service really good so I put a link to them in the description of this video and I really appreciate it if you decide you want to use them use that link as it won't cost you any more but it will help to channel. They have a good selection of plans for different sized hard drives, but one I use myself is the Jaguar. plates now I don't use the included plates part. I just like it because it has two terabytes of space and three to four CPUs, but for this video I want to set it up from scratch, so I'm going to sign up for the cheapest one they have here just to go through the setup process again, so I'll just I'll enter a username and password here and then click continue so that on the checkout page you don't have to use your real name or your last name. name, then all we have to fill out is an email address.
Now, of course, you can use your real email address here, but for those of us who like to be super private and don't want the seed box company to know. Actually then you can sign up for a temporary email address and I will sign up for a temporary email address now with gorilla mail and there is also a link to them in the description and my temporary email address will be a space. invading mail on Shark Lasers Comm, so with that setup I'm going to cross it now and put it on the checkout page. I'm not going to fill out any addresses and how did I find out about that?
I'm just going to put another one in and then I'm going to create an account password that I'm going to enter here so you don't have to enter any personal information if you don't want to, and for payment you can choose PayPal. Bitcoin or something called perfect money. I'm not sure what that is. Then click complete order. If you choose PayPal, simply click on the PayPal icon. There I will be even more private. I'll pay with Bitcoin myself and that's it. without saying obviously to pay with Bitcoin you would need a Bitcoin account, if you don't have one you just pay with PayPal that's fine, so once you've signed up you'll need to check your emails and activate the account. then just click on the link in the email and then log in with the email address and password you registered with, don't worry if you see here it says services 0, if you click on that you can see that It is pending and will be available shortly.
After a few minutes of setup, you better log in to your seed box and it should look like this, then just click on the connect button here and here you will see some basic things about your seed box such as disk size and the remaining amount. The space you have depending on the package you signed up for, this will all vary and let's quickly take a look at the access details. These are the various ways you can connect to the seed box and if we click on two apps, this is displayed. the things that we have installed in the seed box right now there's obviously nothing here so to install something let's click on the installers and here you'll see a list of everything that you can install in the seed box and to install something . that's really easy, it's as simple as clicking the install button, that's just one click, so the first thing we need to install is our torrent and we're going to install the latest version, I'm just going to take a moment to install it, ok , is already installed.
So, the next thing we need to install is our utorrent. Now, this is actually a web UI for our torrent, so since we're going to access it via the web, we need to enter a username and password and then just click install. Okay, so it's installed, let's go ahead and install the last app that we need, let's install the sync and let's sync the sync that also needs us to create a password, so it popped up twice and click install and now with those three apps installed. Let's go and click on the apps and we can see them listed here so let's log in to our u torrent.
For that list click on to show information and here we can see the connection details, the usernames listed here if you forgot the password just click on the I button so let's click on to connect then enter the name username and password and click login and that takes us to our u torrents web user interface. We'll come back to our u torrent later where we'll change some settings, but for now let's just take a look at the sync and check that it's working again, click show info and then connect, don't worry when you read the browser says connections They're not private, that's normal, just continue again here, we just show up. enter our username and password and click sign in now the first time we go to the web UI to sync the page doesn't look quite right because we need to restart the app so to do that let's go back to our dashboard control click Let's go to actions and then restart and we can see the restarted applications so now we can look at the web UI again and everything looks good so all our applications are configured so now let's go back to our u torrent and let's make some configuration changes. there, so we want to go and click on the COG at the top here and then on the left side go down to where it says Auto Tools and we need to enable the auto tag feature here and also the auto move feature now for the path. to finish the downloads click on the icon here and that will show your current directory so at the end we just want to write completed and for the type of operation we want to leave it moving and we want to select here the tag add torrents to path now The Next setting we want to do is the unzip setting here, so click on that and we want to enable Torence automatic unzipping now.
If we leave it like this, it will be unzipped every time it is downloaded. I don't think it's a good idea to have it. Basically, it unzips each torrent. If you want to download, say, a whole load of emulator roms, you don't want them to automatically unzip, so what we're going to do is put an open slash here. brackets then series, pipes or vertical bars, movies, close brackets / now what will this do to any torrent that has the series or movie tag? It will automatically unpack these torrents and these are the labels I use on my sonar and radar containers.
If yours is different, you just changed them here and if you want to automatically unpack any other tags, just put them in square brackets and also separated by a pipe below. Here we want to leave that blank so that the torrents will simply extract within the current directory that they are inside and that's pretty much all we need to do for your ru torrent setup, so just click OK at the bottom, so Now before we continue, let's quickly try downloading a torrent. I am going to download the Ubuntu mate a torrent now, as this torrent does not have any tags assigned to it, it should simply download directly into the entire folder and we can verify that this is the case by clicking on the torrent name and then clicking on files from the file manager and then we can See inside the entire folder here is our Ubuntu Mars torrent, so what we need to do now is use the sync function to sync the entire folder with our own raid server at home, so let's go back quickly to our torrent settings and then let's go to automatic tools, then let's copy the direct path to our entire folder and just to make it easier so we don't forget what this is, I'm going to open a text file and paste it here to save it right now, like this so now let's set up sync so let's go to your web UI and then click on a button to add a folder so we need to give the folder a name so I'm going to call it complete and you can see at the bottom, below the folder path, here it is already created. a folder for it to go to, but this is not correct, so we only need to paste what we copied from our utorrent and so sync will sync everything in the entire folder where the torrents go, so next I'm going to change.
Go to the Advanced tab here and change the folder type to send only so it will be a one way sync and things can't be deleted from the folder on the seed box on my home server at home and it's important to do this. so our torrents continue to seed in the seed box and are not deleted now here I am just setting the pull order, you can set it as you want. First I'm going to set mine to the newest and now I'm going to Click to save, we can see here now that the folder is being scanned, but right now it's obviously not shared.
If we go back,we look in settings and click share, we don't have any other devices to share with, so now what I'm going to do is go to my unread server and set up sync. Now if we look at my download share here, you can see that I have several subfolders for the different types of downloads that I have, so now I'm going to go to my download share and I'm going to create a new folder for the full downloads of the seed box. Now I'm going to name the folder with the name torrent underscore seed box, so now that the destination folder is complete, let's move on to the applications tab and do a sync search and the container I'm going to use is the one for the Linux server here, so click on the download icon and then scroll down the page a little bit, then you will need to fill in the container path forward. slash sync, you want to map that to your user share so that each slash user /mnt, that's the template configuration, so let's click Apply to deploy the container and then, that's it, head over to the tab from docker and then let's go to Sync things with web UI, then at the top click on actions and then on settings, then we want to set a device name.
I'm going to call mine unread server and then I'm going to click to save and we can see here now its name, so now I'm going back to the sync web UI in the seed box. I'm going to do the same thing here, I'm going to go to settings and I'm going to give this a name and I'm going to call it seed box and I'm going to click Save. So now we can easily see which things are rich because they have names. so sync the item in the seed box. Now I am going to click on add remote device and in this box here we have entered the device ID of another instance of the sync item so re-sync the item on my unread server and now go to actions and then show the id , then copy it into the raid sync stuff id here, now go back to the seedbox sync and pay the CID here and the device name.
I'll call it on the rate server and then click to save now we can see. on remote devices at the bottom it says server unread and it is not used because in server unread sync I have to accept this connection now so now let's go to the unread stuff sync web UI and accept the connection . It may take a minute or two for them to appear here, ok it's here now so once you see that click add device and you can see the device names already filled out so I just need to click to save and now the two sync things are linked, so even though the seed box is my unread server, they are linked, there are no shared folders yet, so in the seed box I'm going to add here the entire folder that we set up earlier and I'll click edit and then I'll go share. and now we can see a checkbox here for non-elevated server, so check that and then click Save Now.
The last thing we need to do is go back to Unclassified Sync and then accept the share and here it says that the seed box wants to add the completed share and then we just click to add and now we just need to add the folder path, this is where the data will go from the seed box to the unread server and the default path which has been put here again. is not correct, so let's delete it and the map path that was set was a forward slash, so if we start typing that here, click here where it auto-completes and then we can explore the various shares of the unread ones. serve here so I'm going to go to downloads and then to the torrent seed box which is the folder that I set up earlier so now I'm going to go to advanced and this time I'm going to set this so that you receive only and again the file extraction order, no this needs to be set, but I'm just setting mine to newest first again and clicking to save, so now that I've accepted the folder on my unread server, it will show the Ubuntu companion image that I downloaded in the box from seeds, ok, now it's done, clicking here will show us statistics about what happened, we can see here the latest change, obviously, that's the Ubuntu companion, an image.
There are other things we can look at here, like the file size on both ends. The sync is 1.91 gigs so let's minimize this and now let's go to the share on the server and just take a look there so in my torrent seed box here I have an Ubuntu Mate image so now we have a basic sync between the Ru torrent in a seed box and a folder on the unsorted server, so now the next thing we want to do is add the remote, are you torrent on the probe and radar on the unread server, so let's go to the unread webui and go to the docker tab and first let's go down to sonar and go to the web ui and then click on settings, then download the client, then click on more to add a new client, then go down to our torrent and then just give a name to the client under the Call my seat box, then the next thing we need to fill in is the host and to know what the host is, we have to go to the control panel of service from our seed box and then in our utorrent click on show info and we can get everything. of the information we need from these port details here and it will copy this part here, which is your host, make sure you don't copy over HTTP as it's not necessary, so let's go back to SONA and just paste. on the host here now below for the port value we want to change it to 443 then toggle the use SSL switch and set it to yes now for the URL path we need to remove this here and then go back to the service control panel now.
What we need to do is copy this part here after the forward slash, now make sure you don't forget the tilde sign here, that's important, after we've copied it, let's go back through the probe and then paste it into the URL path here , so next I need to enter the username and password and if you can't remember them again it's in the server control panel, so I'm going to put mine here. My username is Space Invader and below I'm going to enter my username. password, then below here where it says category. I'm going to remove the default because what we put here is the tag that is passed to our u torrents and I was using the tag series for my automatic unpacking.
Now we can click Test and see if we have a connection. Okay, it says the connection was successful, but before we exit this page and save, let's grab the host name again because we'll need it next, so let's copy it now. We can click. Activate to save, so now the download clients are all set up, but to get everything working properly we're going to have to do some mapping and now to do that at the top here, we need to activate the advanced view and then scroll. all the way to the end and here we can see remote path mappings, so click on more and where it says host, paste what we just copied from the client a moment ago, if you remember earlier when I was setting up our utorrent, I copied and pasted. the location of the entire file and put it in a text file so you remember it later.
We need that information now, so now copy the entire folder location into the seed box, is it torrent?, and paste it here where it says remote path. So now for the local path, we need to select where the synced files have been placed, so click Browse File here and then I'll check the data and then the torrent seed box. This is the folder I set up. previously in my download shell now obviously to see this location better it needs to be mapped in the docker template these are my probe mappings here the slash data is mapped to the download share and inside the download share, that's where my torrents folder resides underline the seed box. so what this mapping does is tell sonar where the completed ru torrent downloads are so it can process them and move them to envy or plates, okay, now in the added mappings, let's click on to save and that's sonar now, everything configured. you can use the View box, of course, the client settings in the radar are exactly the same, so I'm not going to go into it in detail, so everything is the same, just make sure that in your category you put the same. you're using for our torrent and I'm using movies, so with the radar like we did with the sonar, we just do the same mapping process that we did before, okay, to finish up, we'll re-sync the thing in the seed. box and we're going to look at selective syncing now, when we set up our u torrents, we set it to automatically unzip anything tagged with series or movies, so it makes sense for those tags that we only download the extracted files to do that. click on your folder as you can see here.
Now I downloaded some extra stuff into the entire folder and you can see it's 11 gigs so now we're going to make some changes to this folder so let's click edit and then we have to continue ignoring patterns so here we can enter patterns that will be ignored, so for series I'm going to introduce series of slashes and then slashes, then asterisks, asterisks, dots, they're asterisks, so I'm going to do exactly the same thing, but for movies, movies slash and double from Asterix again at the top are asterisks so what this does is in the serial subfolders and movie sync is ignore all dot file extensions so avoid syncing any rar files that have been placed In the series and movies label folders, everything else in the entire folder that doesn't have a series or movies label will simply sync as normal, so once you enter your patterns, simply click to save and now, if we go back. and look at the file size of what is going to be synchronized, we can see that it has been in the routine now 28.7 gigs because now with that filter all rar files are ignored, so voila, everything is set up, so now it is better to use the seed box. with sonar radar, have the seedbox download everything to get really good ratios with private trackers, then have the movies and tv shows that need to be extracted, do that in the seedbox and then the resulting files will sync quickly with its own beam server for the probe and radar to process well guys, I hope you enjoyed the video and found it useful.
