your

self in your world and how you perceive your sense of self and the way you marry science with the way we form memories, the way we live in a perpetual state of reliving our past. and things like that. It's really amazing and I want to delve into the whole notion that you're some kind of habitual construct, like what? What's that? What is your custom? Well, a habit is a redundant set of unconscious and automatic thoughts, behaviors and emotions that are acquired through repetition.
how to unlock the full potential of your mind dr joe dispenza on impact theory
Habit is when you have done something so many times that your body now knows how to do it better than your mind. So if you think about If people wake up in the morning, they start thinking about their problems. Those problems are circuits, memories in the brain, each of those memories is connected to people and things at certain times and places, and if the brain is a record of the past. By the time they start the day, they are already thinking about the past. Each of those memories has an emotion. Emotions are the end product of past experiences.
So the moment you remember those memories of your problems, you suddenly feel unhappy, sad, you feel pain. Now, how you think and how you feel. Create your state of being. So the person's entire state of being when he begins his day is in the past. So what does that mean? The family past sooner or later will be a predictable future, so if you believe that your thoughts have something to do with your destiny and you can't think about anything other than how you feel or feelings have become the means of thinking by definition of emotions , You're thinking about the past and for the most part you're going to continue creating the same life, so people pick up their cell phone and check their WhatsApp.
They review their texts. They check their emails. They check Facebook. They take a photo of their feet. They post it on Facebook. They tweet something, they Instagram, they check the news and now they feel really connected to everything that is known in their life. And then they go through a series of routine behaviors. They get out of bed on the same side. They go to the bathroom. They grab a cup of coffee, shower, get dressed, and drive to work the same way. They do the same things. They see the same people who pushed the same emotional buttons and it becomes a routine and it becomes like a program.
So now they have lost their free will to a program and there is no invisible hand doing it to them. Then, when the time comes to change, the redundancy of that cycle becomes a subconscious program. So now 95% of who we are when we are 35 is a memorized set of programmed behaviors, emotional reactions, unconscious habits, attitudes, beliefs and perceptions that work like a computer program. Then the person can say with his five percent of his conscious mind. I want to be healthy, I want to be happy. I want to be free but the body follows a completely different program.
So how do you start making those changes? Good? You have to go beyond the analytical mind because what separates the conscious mind from the subconscious mind is the analytical mind and that's where meditation comes in because you can teach people through practice how to change their brain waves, slow them down and when they do it correctly. They enter the operating system where they can start making some really big changes. So most people wait for a crisis, a trauma, an illness or a diagnosis, you know, they wait for a loss, some tragedy, to decide to change and my message is: why wait? and you can learn and change in a state of pain and suffering. or you can learn and change in a state of joy and inspiration.
I think the good thing right now is that people are waking up, that's really interesting and where I found the deepest hooks about how powerful this can be for someone when you talk about trauma and you've talked about how people experience a traumatic event. , but then they basically rehearse it and how that has a knock-on effect. So what is that? Why do people find it so difficult to overcome trauma? Good? The stronger the emotional reaction you have to some experience in your life, the higher the emotional quotient. The more you pay attention to the cause and the moment the brain puts all its attention on the cause, it takes a snapshot and that is called memory.
Thus, long-term memories are created from very emotional experiences. So what happens then is that people think neurologically within the circuit of that experience and feel chemically within the boundaries of those emotions. So when you have an emotional reaction to someone or something, most people think that they can't control their emotional reaction. It turns out that if you allow that emotional reaction, it is called a refractory period and lasts for hours or days. That's called mood. I tell someone. Hey what's up? So I'm going to move alright, why are you in a bad mood? Well, this happened to me five days ago and I'm having a prolonged emotional reaction if you keep that same emotional reaction going for weeks or months.
That's called temperament. Why is he so bitter? I don't know. Let's ask him. Why is he so bitter? Why are you bitter? Well, this happened to me nine months ago and if you maintain that same emotional reaction for years, that's called a personality trait. So learning to shorten your refractory period of emotional reactions is really where the work begins. Then when people have an event, what they do is they keep remembering the event because the emotions of the stress hormones, the survival emotions, say to pay attention to what happened because you want to be prepared if it happens again.
It turns out that most people spend 70% of their lives living in survival and living in stress. So you are always anticipating the worst case scenario based on past experience and you are literally outside of the infinite

potential

s in the quantum field, you are selecting the worst possible outcome and you are starting to accept it emotionally. with fear and his Conditioning his body in a state of fear do that enough times The body has a panic attack without you you can't even predict it because it is subconsciously programmed So you tell the person why are you like that?
And they will say that I am this way because of this event that happened to me 15 or 20 years ago and what that means from a biological point of view is that they have not been able to change since that event. Then the emotions of the experience tend to give the body and brain a burst of energy. So that people become addicted to the rush of those emotions and use the problems and conditions of their life to reaffirm their limitations. So that they can at least feel something. Then, when the time comes to change, you tell the person why are you like this?
Well, every time you remember the event, you are producing the same chemistry in your brain and body as if the event were happening, firing and connecting the same circuits and configurations with the same emotional signature to the body. Well, what's the revelation behind that? Well, your body is the unconscious mind. It doesn't know the difference between the experience that creates the emotion and the emotion that you are creating with just thought. Then the body believes that it is living the same past experience 24 hours a day, seven days a week. week 365 days a year and then when those emotions influence certain thoughts and they do and then those thoughts create the same emotions and those same emotions influence the same thoughts.
Now the person's entire state of being is in the past. So the hardest part of change is not making the same decision as the day before a period, and the moment you decide to make a different decision, be prepared because it will feel uncomfortable, it will feel unfamiliar. There is going to be something, so why does it feel so uncomfortable? Is it because neurons that fire together wire together, so there's an ease in that loop just because, literally, and you've talked very eloquently about the way neurons wire in the brain, with what speed have I seen?
You show pictures of how quickly those connections happen, which is pretty incredible. Is that what makes it so? uncomfortable for people, I think the most important thing is that we keep firing and wiring those circuits, they become more wired. So there you have a thought and then the program runs, but it is the emotion that follows the thought. If you have a fearful thought, you will feel anxiety. The moment you feel anxiety, your brain will communicate with your body and say: yes. , you are quite anxious so you start thinking more thoughts corresponding to how you are.
While the redundancy of that cycle conditions the body to become the mind. So now, when the time comes to change, the person enters that river of change and suddenly makes a different decision. He doesn't feel the same. Then the body says, "Well, you've been doing this for 35 years. Well, you'll just stop feeling suffering and you'll stop feeling guilty and you'll stop feeling ashamed and you won't complain or blame or make excuses or feel sorry for yourself for a long time." The body is in the unknown, so the body says: I want to Return to familiar territory so that the body begins to influence the mind and then it says Start tomorrow, you are too much like your mother.
This will never work for you. This doesn't feel right. So if you respond to that thought as if it were true, that same thought will lead you to the same choice, which will lead to the same behavior, which will create the same experience that will produce the same emotion. about that notion of Give me a little more detail. We mean that the body becomes the mind or the unconscious mind. What do you mean by that exactly? Well, those are two different things: your body is your unconscious mind in a certain way. In this sense, if you are sitting and you start thinking about some worst future scenario that you are conjuring up in your mind and you start to feel the emotion of that event, your body does not know the difference between the event that is taking place in your outside world and what you are creating only with emotion or thought.
So, most people constantly reaffirm their emotional states. So when the time comes to give up that emotion, you may say, I really want to do it, but actually the body is stronger than the mind because it has been conditioned that way. The servant has now become the master and the person, suddenly once they enter the unknown. They prefer to feel guilt and suffering because at least they can predict it. Being in the unknown. It's a scary place for most people because the unknown is what insecure people tell me. Well, I can't predict my future. I am in the unknown and I always say that the best way to predict your future has been created Not from the known but from the unknown.
What thoughts? Do you want to shootand connect in your brain? What behaviors do you want to demonstrate in one day the act of mentally rehearsing closing your eyes and rehearsing the action rehearsing the reaction of what you want or the action of what you want mentally closing your eyes and mentally rehearsing some action if we are really present. The brain doesn't know the difference between what you're imagining and what you're experiencing in the 3D world, so you start installing neurological hardware in your brain to make it seem like the event has already happened. Now your brain is no longer a record. from the past is now a map to the future and if you continue to prepare it that way, the hardware becomes a software program and who knows, you might start acting like a happy person and then I think the hardest part It is emotionally teaching our body what the future will feel like before the actual experience.
So what does that mean? You can't wait until you are successful to feel empowered. You can't wait for your wealth to feel abundant, you can't wait for your new relationship to feel love or your healing to feel complete. I mean, that's the old cause-and-effect model of reality, you know. Waiting for something outside of ourselves allows us to change how we feel inside ourselves and when we feel better inside ourselves. We pay attention to what caused it. But what that means then is that, from the Newtonian world, most people spend their entire lives living in lack. something to change their what do you mean by the Newtonian world?
The Newtonian world is all about the predictable. It's about predicting the future. But the quantum model of reality is not about causing an effect the moment you start to feel abundant and worthy, you are generating wealth the moment you are empowered and feel it. We are starting to take a step towards success right now. You start to feel complete. Your healing begins and when you love yourself and you love all life, you will create an equal and now you are causing an effect and I believe that is the difference between living as a victim in Your world saying "I am." this way because of this person or that thing or this experience They made me think and feel this way when you change that you become a creator of your world and start My thinking and my feeling are changing an outcome in my life And now that is a completely different game and we began to believe more that we were creators of reality.
So how do we start? Okay, I have this negative emotion. It's controlling my life. It has me in this cycle of thinking about this emotion that triggers a chemical reaction that trains my body to feel that way, which makes it easier and more likely to do it again and now I'm in this vicious unconscious line and It is unconscious. Well and you said: Does your thought create your environment? Command your environment to create your thinking, which I found really very interesting. So how do we go from that mechanically to starting this process of visualizing something that is empowering me in a different state?
It's my future self. Is it meditation? What does that look like if you are not defined by a vision of the future? Then you will be left with the old memories of the past and you will be predictable in your life and if you wake up in the morning and you are not being defined by a vision in the future when you see the same people and you leave. to the same places and do exactly the same thing at exactly the same time. It is no longer that your personality is creating your personal reality. Now your personal reality is affecting or creating your personality.
Does your environment really control how you think and feel? unconsciously because each person, each thing, each place, each experience has a neurological network in your brain, each experience you have with each person produces an emotion. So some people will use their boss to reaffirm their addiction to judgment. They will use their enemy to reaffirm their addiction to hate. They will use their friends to affirm their addiction to suffering. So now they need the outside world to feel something. So, to change them is to be bigger than your environment, to be bigger than the conditions of your world and the environment.
Is that seductive? So why is meditation a good tool? Let's sit down. Let's close our eyes. Let's disconnect from our external environment. So if you see less things, your brain receives less stimulation, if you are playing soft music or have earplugs, less sensory information reaches your brain. So you are disconnecting from the environment if you can sit your body and tell it to stay like an animal, stay here. I'll feed you when we're done. You can get up and check your emails. You can read all your text messages, but now you will sit there and obey me.
So when you do it correctly and eat nothing, smell nothing, taste nothing? You are not awake experiencing and feeling anything. You'd have to agree with me that a thought defines you, right? So when the body wants to go back to its emotional past and you realize that your attention is on that emotion and where you put your attention is where you put your energy? you're diverting your energy from the present moment into the past and you become aware of that and you settle your body back into the present moment because it says well, it's eight o'clock.
Normally you get upset because you're in traffic at this time and here you are sitting and we're used to feeling angry and you're off schedule. Oh, it's 11 o'clock and you usually check your emails and judge everyone. Well, the body looks for that predictable chemical state every time you realize you're doing that and your body craves those emotions and you bring it back to the present moment. You are telling the body that it is no longer the mind, that you are the mind and that now your will is greater and greater than the program and if you keep doing this over and over, over and over, over and over, it is how to train a stallion. or a dog.
It's just going to say I'm going to sit down and the moment that passes when the body is no longer the mind when it finally gives up There is a release of energy We go from particle to wave from matter to energy and we free ourselves from the chains Of those emotions that hold us They remain in the family past and we have seen it thousands of times. In fact, we can now predict it using a brain scan. That is very interesting. Let's dig a little deeper into metacognition, the notion that you don't have to believe everything you think.
I love the way you talk about it. Hmm Yes, and we have a huge frontal lobe. It's 40% of our entire brain and most people, when they have a thought, they just think it's the truth and I think one of my biggest realizations in my own journey was that just because you have a thought doesn't necessarily mean it's true. TRUE. If you have between 60 and 70 thousand thoughts in a day and we do, and 90% of those thoughts are the same thoughts as the day before and you believe that your thoughts have something to do with your destiny, your life will not change much because the same thought leads to the same choice the same choice leads to the same behavior the same behavior creates the same experience and the same experience produces the same movement and then the act of becoming aware of this process to begin to become more aware of how Do you think how you act about how you feel?
It's called metacognition and so why is it important? Because the more aware you become of those unconscious states of mind and body, the less likely you are to become unconscious during the day and that thought will not slip out of your consciousness unchecked because your means to know yourself and the word meditation means become familiar with So as you become familiar with the thoughts, behaviors and emotions of the old self, you are removing that old self as you turn on and connect new thoughts and condition the body to a new emotional state if you do that.
Many times it will start to feel familiar. That's why it's very important. Just like in a garden, if you are planting a garden, you have to get rid of the weeds. You have to take last year's plants and pull them from the rocks that are sifted to the top. These are like our emotional blockages, they must be eliminated, that soil has to be softened and broken down. We have to make room to plant the new garden. So mainly we learn more about ourselves and others when we feel uncomfortable because the moment you enter that uncomfortable state, a program usually appears.
When that program appears because the person does not want to be in the present moment and participate consciously. So when you teach people how to do that with a meditative process, it turns out that when they're in their life, they're less likely to react emotionally, they're less likely to be as rigid and believe the thoughts that they were thinking, which they are. more aware when they black out and get back into a habit, and that's what starts. the process of change and That is why we have to unlearn Before relearning we have to break the habit of the old self before reinventing a new self We have to sprout presynaptic connections and new connections.
We have to unplug, reshoot and rewire. We have to turn an unforgettable body into a new mind into a new emotion like programming and reprogramming, that's the act and it's a two-step process Yes, I like the way you call it action. There was another thing you said that I thought was really powerful was the fact that insights themselves are essentially inert. They don't do anything. So what do we do with an idea? How do we take a defining moment and make sure it's not just a defining moment? I guarantee you that people watching right now are having like a hundred "aha" moments.
That was definitely the case for me while I was researching you and when you said that. I thought and that's the danger that you have the AHA and then nothing. Yes, yes, and that is a danger because then people will fall back into mediocracy and they will use perception to excuse them from making a leap. They'll say yeah, you know, I have a chemical imbalance in my brain. Yes, my father was really authoritarian, he was a perfectionist. That's why I am the way I am. You know, people come up with things to make excuses for. The idea is actually to give them permission to stay limited and it's an amazing idea because they'll tell you: And they really want to overcome their anxiety.
But we are doing well. Let's take your ex-husband. Let's put him in a straitjacket. Let's tape them up and shoot them to the moon. You know what I mean. What are you going to do now? You still have to make those changes. And then the person's enemy dies or something changes in their life and that person is gone. They will find someone else to hate. This is how we function as human beings. We simply slide in another Reason to feel those emotions. So I think when people start to understand this, you know, I think knowledge is power, but knowledge about yourself is personal empowerment.
So how much of this is actually learning how to do it? it just bifurcates the world in that there are negative emotions that have negative neurochemistry associated with them and you said that in those states if you live in a perpetual state of stress hormones and things like that, the disease is like one step away and then just on the other side. That's understanding, but there's this whole other side of positive energy, which is happiness, joy, empowerment, whatever you know the neurochemical cocktail is, but when you're on that side, your immune system is more likely to function.
Well, that's just boiling it down to something really basal. Yeah, that's one of the big ones. Well, let's talk about it in terms of survival or creation. Like I said, 70% of the time people live in stress and living in stress is living in survival now. All organisms in nature can tolerate short-term stress, you know that a deer is chased by a pack of coyotes, when it leaves the coyotes behind, returns to graze and the event is over and the definition of stress is when your brain and Your body loses balance and loses homeostasis. The stress response is what the body and Nate Lee do to get back on track.
So you're driving down the road Someone cuts you off, you brake stuck You can give them the finger and then you calm down and the event is over and boom now. Everything has returned to normal. But what if it's not a predator waiting for you outside the cave, but your co-worker? Sitting next to you and all day long you're activating those chemicals because they're pushing all your emotional buttons When you activate the stress response and you can't turn it off Now you're headed for a disease because no organism in nature can live in emergency mode for a period prolonged of time.
It is a scientific fact that stress hormones regulate genes and create diseases. In the long term it affects human beings. Due to the size of the neocortex, we can simply activate the stress response. Just with the thought. I think about our problems and turn on those chemicals. That means our thoughts could make us sick. So if possible, our thoughts could make us sick. Is it possible that our thoughts can make us? Well, the answer is absolutely yes. So what are the emotions that are connected to survival? Let's call them anger aggression hostility hate competition fear Anxiety worry pain suffering guilt shame indignity envy jealousy.
All of those are created by stress hormones andPsychology calls them normal human states of consciousness. I call those altered states of consciousness. So we tend to remember those traumatic events more because in survival, you better be prepared if it happens again, that's one and If one's survival gene is activated, ten really wonderful things could happen to you in your day and only one happens. bad thing and you can't divert your attention from that bad or unhappy thing because the survival gene is activated. It's really interesting. How does epigenetics come into play and all of this as what's really happening?
Have you talked quite deeply about that? Proteins, and at a very deep level, we like how we tell our genetics to create these kinds of changes. What does that really look like? Well, epigenetics epi means above the gene and many years ago, after Watson and Crick discovered the DNA helix, they said that the blueprints of life, you know, all diseases are created from genes. It turns out that less than 5%, more than 1% of people on the planet are born with a genetic condition like type 1 diabetes, Tay-sachs disease or sickle cell anemia, the other 95 to 99 percent are created by lifestyle . and by choices you can lead to identical twins Exactly the same genome, one dies at 51 years old.
The other one dies at 85, same gene, different environment, so suddenly they said we lied. That was wrong. It is not the genes that create the disease. It is the environment that sends signals to the gene that creates the disease. Well, okay, but that's not the whole truth either because you could have two people working together in the same factory. One gets cancer after being exposed to a carcinogen for 25 years and both work for 25 years. The other one doesn't have any cancer. . So there must be some internal order that makes one person not understand it while another does.
So is it possible then yes? The environment sends a signal to the gene and it does so, and the end product of an experience in the environment is called an emotion. Can you signal the gene before the environment by accepting a high emotion? We did research on this where we measured 7,500 different gene expressions in a group of people who attended an advanced event for four days and we had them do a sitting meditation, a walking meditation, a lying meditation, a standing meditation and at the end. end of four days Only four days The eight common genes that were upregulated Two genes for suppressing cancer cells and tumor growth Two genes for neurogenesis, the growth of new neurons in response to novel experiences, and the learning gene that signals to stem cells to go to damaged areas and repair them, the oxidative stress gene was upregulated.
We start to see all these genes that are very, very healthy for making the body flourish. Imagine if people were doing that for three months. We also measure telomeres, the little shoelaces at the end of DNA that tell us our biological age. We asked people to do the meditation work five out of seven days for 60 days. Measure your telomeres that determine your biological age sixty days later. Seventy-four percent of people lengthen their telomeres. 40 percent is a significant change. Twenty percent is a very notable change. That means they got a little bit of their life back if it was lengthened by ten percent.
They recovered 10% of their life. That is incredible. Before I ask my last question, tell these guys where they can find you online. Clear. My website is just dr. Joe Dispenza dot com. You can follow us on Facebook Twitter Instagram We're done and then my final question. What

impact

do you want to have in the world? YO? I think the ultimate goal for me is to empower people to the point that they realize that they need fewer things outside themselves to be happy, fewer things outside themselves to regulate their moods and behaviors, and they begin to use the kind of power that we all have access to and can really change the world to make a difference and create more peace.
There are more homeless people. There is more connection, we support and love each other and serve better and I think we have to start for the most part if everyone works on themselves and tries to do the best they can to present the highest ideal of themselves to the world. I think the world would be a better place. And that is my passion and I am witnessing it happening now. More than I ever thought amazing Joe would be. Thank you very much for being here and for being wonderful to have. Guys, go watch this man's videos.
They are some of the best explanations of what happens inside the mind that I have ever encountered. There were several that I literally have people with in my life. I'm going to force you to sit down and watch these things. They are incredible explanations of how you create yourself from the things you do. Typically, the way you think creates a feeling, the way you feel creates a thought that matches that, and then you go into this cycle and that personality is ultimately a finite set of patterns in your brain. , I think it's really enlightening in terms of how we really experience the world and I think that when people understand that it's under your control that you don't have to believe every thought that you think, you can get out of that, you can tap into metacognition to think about your thinking. and Deconstruct and decide what you want to think about and start focusing on that and creating a completely different version. of yourself that has new elevated feelings that are on the side of positivity that empowers you.
