Meters This is the multipurpose

cotton

cord depending on how much strengthening modify the different color fabric you want, it could be between half a meter to a meter of fabric. I'd probably only use, I'd say maybe about half a meter to do this. two stripes you will want to cut one inch strips of fabric cut on the bias. I am using broadcloth but you can use 100% cotton. I'm just using this because I had it on hand and I wanted black if you don't have it. If you don't know how to cut fabric on the bias, I'll leave you a link to that video so you can learn how to cut fabric on the bias.

You will need a tape measure, scissors, pins, lots of thread in the color I chose. use black and you need at least four round coils to

make

the size of the baskets. It's helpful to have some clips. I bought them at the dollar store and I like these because they have a nice wide edge that is too long for the strings, I put three of these wooden beads to finish my basket. You don't have to have these, but look for ones with a very

large

hole so you can thread a

large

string through here if you want the same type of beads.

I will leave the link in the description box below, if you choose to untangle the wire at the end, you can use a weight like this. I bought this at Walmart or just use a regular comb and of course, you're going to need a sewing machine, you don't want the weight to pull on the string because it can cause an uneven surface and you want it to be nice and flat so I like it unravel my skein of

rope

and then roll it into a ball. and the first thing I like to do is record my rappel because it's a lot easier to have it all together when you're trying to form the first part of your circle because as you can see, you're going to get these little loose ends flying everywhere I just have a piece of tape and I'm going to wrap it I'm going to finish and then I'm just going to feel if my nail where the end is sometimes it's hard look I'm just going to leave a very small amount there's the end and I'm going to cut most of it off enough to keep those ends into place and that's how I start all my

rope

pulls.

I'm just going to do a really tight round on that first part, nice and tight, and we're going to go around it for about four rounds keeping it nice and nice and tight, so here, catch your pins and hold them in place so it stays there while let's go to the rocking machine and with a straight stitch on the sewing machine I'm going to sew this way and then that way, so let's start at the end and stitch back and all the way and when you get to the middle here just to reinforce that medium a little bit.
I like to back up and just a little bit more in the middle to the end and back up. I don't know how many times I say that thing about getting older, so we'll take it out. and we're going to go over to the other side, you may have noticed that I have some Fords on the side here and I do this because I don't have an extended bed for quilting or a tray whatever you want to call it and so you want to keep this part of your base flat, already which works more outwards, it has to be flat otherwise the bottom of your bowl or basket will start to curve upwards so I just grabbed some wood panels and book paper or whatever needed. until you have a nice little edge now that we're done with our straight stitch, we're going to go ahead and change it to zigzag now.
If you've seen my other Roble videos, feel free to fast forward through these. because it's the same for all my row bowls, but for those who haven't done a row bowl before, this is what I do with my whip, it's always in my widest selection, so for me it's at 5.5 for me length, I like to set it. at 4 I don't want my zigzags to be too long and I don't want them too short so I think 4 is almost perfect now when you start sewing you want the cord to come out on the right side and you want your bowl or basket. forming to the left, so always with the bead facing to the right, I'm going to go in and start putting this together in the second and third row because we've made the X here that's going to hold this. part of the bowl pretty firmly, so I'm going to go with my second and third row.
Now I line up my presser foot and my string ball, I'm lining it up so that the center of the break on my presser foot is facing inward. the center of the two ropes and I use it to observe the entire basket, so in the first part you will have to go a little slower just to move if it is a very small circle, so let's start with the first and Of course, the doctor talk and now we're on our way and now in the first part I only do two stitches, lift the presser foot and the needle is always at the right angle, do one more angle and don't.
Don't worry about this thing starting to spin, we won't slow down, we'll see what we do in a second here again. Always keep that needle to the right if you are going to turn up and around the needles to the right and continue. So once you've finished the first few rows, feel free to go a little faster when you feel more comfortable with it. Now, instead of lifting the presser foot and turning it, I'll use my fingers to move it. so you can lift the presser foot and let it roll up until it comes down to the front and now we're going to let this come down to the front and we can go a little bit faster now I'm holding the cord on my thumb and making sure it's not tight and it's nice and loose coming out of my ball and my fingers are guiding the string a little bit and I'm pulling it with my fingers.
I'm watching very carefully that the break in my presser foot is right in the middle of these two strings, as I saw, so go ahead and keep sewing until it's a little bit bigger. Now I'm ready to add some black to my rope so I have stripes on the bottom of my basket as well, this is where the dollar store clips will come in handy and I'm going to start my wrap on the bottom here because it will What I find is that when they both hang down you don't have It's like moving this up and up each time and it goes a little bit faster, so for now we're going to go straight, so I'm going to tuck this end in so it's nice and safe in the first part of that envelope.
We're just getting that little corner in there, once we get it nice and secure then we can start tilting it down so make sure your first two rounds are nice and tight and then we'll be on our way so now I'm just. wrapping and covering half of this inch so that half an inch of this is covered. I'm at the end of my rap, so I'm just going to listen to that with my little clip and then I can continue sewing. I just want some. a little bit of black accent at the bottom so I bought a piece of black material to finish where I almost started so that's enough for me so it will continue to sell please take off the clip.
I like to tuck that little dot underneath to hide it. and then bring it to my hand to hold it together. Second, I'm going to continue sewing, just pick up the simple rope without any more black and I'm probably going to make my face about 12 inches or that would be about 31 30 31 centimeters. everything is to continue selling here. I just realized I ran out of bobbin thread, so I'm going to take this out of the sewing machine, rewind the bobbin, and start sewing again. I've already rewound the tap and I'm going back in. I'm going to try to match and bring my needle down right where one of my stitches is on my zigzag so that when I sew this back it doesn't look like a mess, it just helps you see it so it looks a little bit cleaner, so That's where I go.
I've set the presser foot down and we're going to sew backwards and that's it, now a little bit thinner and a little bit bigger instead of using my hand. in the middle I'm bringing my pinky to the edge here and that's what helps me guide it around my pinky here it's not pushing very hard. I'm not pulling on this, but enough to guide it slightly. on the other rope here and found my table in inches. I think it will be a pretty good base for a small trash basket or it would measure about thirty point five centimeters, so now we're going to start forming our sides. bring my hand under my base and lift it all the way up so it's flat against my sewing machine like this and then we'll continue sewing before we start adding my black.
What I'm doing is what I really want to do. I'm sure this is a nice straight side and I'm accentuating it slightly by putting my hand underneath and not just holding the side of my machine here, but I'm lifting like this, so the angle is forcing this string to be fair. . slightly inward to get a nice straight side, otherwise I struggle on the bigger baskets, it's going to start to come out a little bit and I don't want that, so just a little trick there, so I'm going to lift it up and like that. wrong and keep cutting until you have the amount you want for the depth before adding the first color.
Now that I've made sure that my sides are shaping up, I'm going to start adding my collar now, which is black. I already pre-rounded some black on my cord so I can keep going from time to time and now I won't have to pick it up anymore. I'm going to sew a little straight and make sure it's nice and flat and I'm going to use my fingers here to keep it flat as I sew, so we're adding more strips of fabric, it's pretty easy to do, just remove the last clip, put the next one on and then make sure your little one and last one are tucked in. this one and pull that little end on the last one now bring your little point to catch it there and wrap it around and let's go again first one will be on the tighter side and then you can start dragging it down so you can You're only covering half of your material as before, so if you're making a big basket like the one I'm inking, I've already used 100 feet of that skein and now I have to add another one, so this is a big time. to add it if you have a little more left of your strip of fabric and you are at the end of your rope and the easiest way is to just grab the next rope and glue the two together and you will have your material that hides it and no one will notice the difference you have , you have duct tape there, so let's take a piece of tape, we'll start with the rope that I have here, let's start adding the next one and we're I'll just flatten them out and wrap that tape around both of them and pull them together pretty tightly so there's no space left. and I'll continue to wrap my fabric around the ribbon part and that will keep it nice and secure.
We will sew across the binding. What I'm doing now while I'm sewing is I'm holding my fingers up here and my arm is resting on the back of the basket and I'm holding it while so it's a little bit easier, you can't fluff up and you can't see what you're doing with your hip with the basket in the way, so just give it some support with your toes and sole when you wrap the rope with material. It will make your basket much firmer than unwrapped rope and the 100% cotton will also give your basket more rigidity. I'm using the wide fabric, so it's not as stiff, but it certainly helps give you a firm basket.
I'm going to continue, I'm going to sew a few more rows of black and then I'm going to sew again with just the same rope, so this is as far as I'm going to go with my black and now. I'm going to go ahead and do a few more rows with just the single rope with the basket getting bigger. I like to hold it on top and then when I'm sewing this appears. I only want to use two skeins of This rope because it would be like 200 feet, so I want to make sure I have enough left for my handles, so I'm going to take the end of my rope and I'm going to wrap it around my basket, so I'm just wrapping.
Twist once here just to get my measurement. I'm allowing my handle to come out and come out a little bit more, so let's say it's around here, so I have my measurement there. Now I'm going to do that three more. Sometimes I just take my rope and I measure about three times as much because I want my handle to be three rope widths thick and then I leave a loop on the handle again and I've put a clip on and that's when I have to start on my handles, so I'm gonna add back a little bit more of my black fabric moan sauna and I'm gonna start sewing again and I'm gonna finish with my black fabric and then I'm gonna continue on me just with the single rope no fabric I'm getting close to where I left my mark that's where I'm gonna start my handles this is how much cord we have left so we have room to make three rounds of one handle so I'm going to topstitch and machine it out this way look at that beautiful big basket how beautiful now we want to put pins to know where are we going to put our handles. here is the end of my cable.
I'm going to estimate that hereis where I'm going to place my handle here, so this is going to be the middle of my handle, so what I'm going to do is just squash it. my basket so follow it and I know this is going to be the center of my handle on this side and flatten it and I know this is the middle on this end from where my rope ended and where I placed the middle of my handle marker was two inches and half or about three inches, so let's make a mark on the other side again at two and a half inches by placing my marker there, so I know I'll end up here, but we need a little bit. of loop here, so what I'm going to do is at this point I'm going to measure another two and a half inches, I place my finger there and that's where I'm going to place my hand, it's going to look like it's bringing it back. and that's where it's going to be there and that's where I'm going to put my handle and this is going to rotate, we're going to sew and we're going to do the same thing on the other side here, so we're just going to estimate that when we sew around, this is where I placed the center of my handle, so I want to mark two and a half, which is my first part of the handle and on this end another two and a half on the other side and I will place a marker, we will remove this one from the middle so it doesn't confuse us.
I've placed my need a little further back from where I started and I'm going to back up just to give it a little bit. a little bit more support, so we have strength at the beginning of our handle here, so I'm going to back off a little bit back and forth, now what we're going to do is we're going to sew along this top here. We're not going to sew all the way to the top of the handle right now, we're going to grab it on our next round, so what you want to do is tilt your basket to just sew on this last row and get it back on so you're sewing. straight, you can take out the pin that we are going to sell to this point here, as soon as you get close to the pin, we will raise the presser foot and you will push the rope hard. we're going to press the foot down, remove the pin, now we're going to grab these two and see you later just to make sure.
I'm going to just use the end of my scissors here just to make sure it's nice and tight enough to grab it once you've grabbed it, we're just going to do a couple more stitches and then we're going to sew back, forward, back and forth. Go ahead, now we're going to sew until we get to the next pin, oh, no good. It's often time to run out of thread so I have to get this out, well be careful with that and we'll have to remeasure it and we'll do it again and they'll beat me to my bobbin.
It's not a good time to run out of thread. Alright? So I went back and remarried where the center of my basket was. I did my two and a half inches, two and a half inches and went back to the machine. Look where I ran out. Can you believe it right before us? Then do that. handle the part ah, that's because I wasn't paying attention and I wasn't looking, it's all back in and I'm going to have to backstitch here to secure my red hair and let's go back to this marker as well, a couple more spaces we take the pin and going backwards that's different How many times have I said that you can do too much computer work in sewing work at the same time and then I just exchange the words so now we're going to sew backwards and that assures us thanks to insurance because they are handled okay now right now we're going to tilt the basket so we're just sewing here again so tilt it this way or if my head gets in the way sew so you're at the stop speed mark the pin and take it out because you know that's what happened, here's your marker, so remember we're going to measure up to here and then we're going to add another two and a half inches or about six and a half centimeters, so Now I know I need to take this mark.
Place it where my pin is. Let's get that pin out. Can I go right there? I'm going to push it with my scissors to make sure it's there. I'm going to tilt the basket so it's pointing towards that outside rope and then we start tilting it up and making sure it's nice and tight in there, we have it once we get it back in the middle, then I'm going to go forward a little bit and come back here. come on, now we can go all the way around to our other handle that we made first, so let's go all the way around now as we're getting close to our handle here, so let me go all the way here, we're not going to sew on this one.
I'm going to sew these two together. I'm just going to use my scissors to make sure they stay together. It's okay, the book brought them both together. Now I can lift the presser foot, just tilt it a little bit and then, so far. two your front basket and then you can see that you're getting close to where your handle starts, so we're going to keep our rope tucked in there and now we're ready to go around again, here's our handle again, just turn inward. the handle and then finish the handle. I'm just going to topstitch because I want to remove this basket again.
Now I know this is where my handles are, so that's the middle. This way now I'm going to crush my hands and then I know where my mind is on the other side, so I'm going to place the pin here and now what I'm going to do is sew my lace right up to there and then stop to finish this. I'm just going to tie a loose knot. I'm going to hold it with my fingers right here to make sure the knot is right at the end here, so put a piece of tape on the end of my cord and make a little dot with the tape and then I can easily spit some beads in there There's the first one, let's make another knot, another bead and another knot, you know, things in groups of three and five instead of pairs.
I like the odds, I think it looks better. let's tie one more knot and tie another and let's tie one more knot, let's cut the end off and you can start detangling it a little bit using a regular comb to detangle it or you can use a pet raincoat and that will make it go a little bit a little bit faster for you, well , the easiest way is to simply bite the table and then remove it with a brush. This particular rope has a synthetic core on the inside, so I'm going to cut it and then trim it nicely.
I hope I have inspired you. You have to go big and make this beautiful large rope basket and you can use it for so many interesting things. I have my wool here right now, maybe your dog is sad for his dog toys or for your son's room to put all his toys. or use it as a shopping bag thanks for looking until next time, good
