How To Get Scout Rank - First Rank In Scouts BSA (Part 1)

How To Get Scout Rank - First Rank In Scouts BSA (Part 1)
hey guys Matt Gutman here and back another video and today is going to be about how to get

Scout

rank

part

1 so just a few side notes before I get into this video 1 if you're new to

scout

ing in general or if you're new to my channel be sure to understand what this video is about and understand what my channel is I've been in Boy

Scout

s for a while now and I'm actually going to be aging out soon because at age 18 you were it's a mandatory requirement to leave Boy

Scout

s you
how to get scout rank first rank in scouts bsa part 1
can't be an adult and be in Boy

Scout

s as as in like a

part

icipating

Scout

so I'm 16 and the point of this channel is to try to get Eagle

Scout

under in under two years but for beginners who are right in the

Scout

so I'm going to teach you a few pointers and also how to get the

Scout

rank

part

one so a couple things beforehand to be able to join Boy

Scout

s you must or

Scout

s BSA you must have completed the fifth grade and be at least at least ten years old or you can have earned the
air of light from Cub

Scout

s and be at least ten years old or he can be age eleven and have not reached age eighteen so those are the different categories you could fall into to join what

Scout

s BSA so for the

rank

s there are seven of them here are the seven there's

Scout

rank

Tenderfoot second class

first

class star

Scout

life

Scout

and Eagle

Scout

so

Scout

rank

is a one out of the seven that you can get and if you look in the left there the brown one that is

Scout

rank

and it's brown
because that's what the color originally was but as of January 2016 it became gold to match the other ones and also it came with a new set of requirements so that was about three years ago and I'm going to teach you the

first

requirement because that's a lot of memorization you have to do there are seven requirements overall but the

first

two are like really heavily sectioned off to where there's like a big amount of there's a big chunk of what you have to memorize so in my
personal opinion

scout

ing is good because of the experience it's an adventure it provides also the amount of skills that someone can learn and the effects it has on morale and everyday life that's just my personal opinion on why I would I joined

Scout

s BSA or formerly known as Boy

Scout

s and the vast choices of accomplishments because there's many things you can do many things you can earn and many things you can accomplish moving on to requirements while working on requirements oh
you always want to refer to the Boy

Scout

Handbook

first

when working on

rank

s it's always going to be in the Boy

Scout

Handbook and if you're still unsure you can search it up on the Internet or asking that fellow

Scout

don't just get the requirement you need to be able to understand it too I've had many people who are second class in

first

class those are the third and fourth

rank

s and they still can't do simple objectives or simple tasks because they never understood what
they were getting they were just getting it so I need to be able to know what you're doing and you know you have learned it if you can teach that skill to someone else and help them understand him so just keep that in mind when working on these requirements now the actual requirements number one

Scout

s must a repeat from memory the

Scout

Oath law motto and slogan now I could just move on with the next requirement but these are actually a very big

part

of Boy

Scout

s because these are the like
how to get scout rank first rank in scouts bsa part 1
I guess you could say the codes of conduct that we follow so you need to be able to in your own words explain their meaning and in order to do that you need to know what they are and understand what they mean so the

Scout

Oath let's get into that the

Scout

Oath or promise is a pledge to help our community our world and ourselves and it goes as follows on my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God on my country to obey the

Scout

law to help other people at all times to keep myself
physically strong mentally awake and morally straight so the

Scout

Oath is what

Scout

s follow while they're carrying out their duties and obligations as a boy

scout

scout

law is a

scout

is trustworthy loyal helpful friendly courteous and obedient cheerful thrifty brave clean and reverent so there are twelve words in total you need to be able to understand their individual meanings as in what does that word mean and how does it apply towards you and your time in

scout

s the

Scout

motto I will
quote Sir Robert baden-powell which was the founder of Boy

Scout

s he said be prepared the meaning of the motto is that a

scout

must prepare himself for a previous thinking out and practicing how to act on any accident or emergency so that he has never taken my surprise very well said it's kind of self-explanatory if you know what the word prepared means so a

scout

must always be prepared

scout

slogan do a good turn daily now if you look at the top right you can see on those

rank

patches the
scroll there's a scroll on most of those

rank

s it's turned upwards into a shape of a smile to remind

Scout

s to do a good turn cheerfully and take a breather there is a lot of memorization right off the bat instead of cramming all this stuff and trying to get it all because if you do that it not only isn't not gonna work because cramming isn't like short-term usually you want to like be able to get it stuck in your mind so you know it so try playing a game with friends to memorize
the words or doing a troop activity and also read into the handbook there's also a Boy

Scout

Handbook then make a new addition like every year but it's still good to have at least like your own copy so you can get a clearer understanding of those skills so look in the front of the hand look it is going to be there now that was only the

first

subcategory of the

first

requirement there is a lot more so

scout

s must one be explained what

Scout

spirit is describe some ways you have shown

Scout

spirit by practicing the

Scout

Oath

Scout

law

Scout

motto and

Scout

slogan so obviously you need to know requirement one a

first

in order to do this and once again

Scout

spirit that is going to be in the handbook near the front one see demonstrate the

Scout

sign salute and handshake and explain when they should be used so the

scout

s sign shows that you are a

scout

and every time you recite they

Scout

Oath and law you should have it up at a 90-degree angle with your three fingers the

Scout

how to get scout rank first rank in scouts bsa part 1
salute is a sign of respect you use it to salute the flag and you can use it to salute a

scout

leader the

Scout

handshake is just a token of friendship with your left hand and you have to firmly grasped his hand and you only use this handshake when both people are in uniform so that's the

scout

s sign it's got salute and the

Scout

handshake which is your left hand another thing to note is that during big ceremonies or congregations like this one everyone has to show the proper signs as to
what they're reciting so that's what we're doing in this giant ceremony right here okay so this

rank

is the

first

class

rank

this is the fourth

rank

and Boy

Scout

s even for 1d

Scout

s must describe the

first

class badge and tell what each

part

of it stands for and explain the significance of the

first

get

first

class

Scout

badge so this is one of the turning points in Boy

Scout

s I'm not going to say why because I'll give away the answer but this is also on the front of the
book so that's one d1e repeat from memory the outdoor code in your own words explain what the outdoor code means to you I will say this the outdoor code is actually many don't know it and even if they do know it they have no idea what it means just my own side note it begins similarly to the apps to these

Scout

Oath so you need to know the difference between them because the

Scout

Oath starts with on my honor I will do my best and the outer code starts with as an American I will do my
best so they start similarly so try not to get them confused here is the outdoor code as an American I will do my best to be clean in my outdoor manners to be careful with fire be consider any outdoors and be conservation minded so once again not many

Scout

s like fully understand what this means and during the openings of my meetings when we recite this there's always one

Scout

he's kind of trying to lip-synch along with everyone because I don't know it so just make sure that you
know it and the last requirement for number one so as repeat from memory the pledge of allegiance and your own words explain its meeting I mean most public schools say the Pledge of Allegiance every day but in case you don't know it here's the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all and you can't just say the words you have to know the
words so this is like the

first

requirement off of the

Scout

rank

there are seven in total of as of as of 2019 there are there seven of them but numbers one and two have like multiple things as you can tell by this video number one had seven things and number two has like four and that's usually how the requirements are there's one requirement but there's subcategories to those requirements so while we're working on the requirements for

Scout

rank

I recommend looking at Mehrabad
org it's a really helpful site or I'm able to get what the requirements are and it gives helpful tips online it has helpful help hints to learning the

Scout

rank

and not one more side note it provides no benefit if these concepts drift over someone's head you need to know them you need to know what they mean know how it applies towards Boy

Scout

s so once again this was just requirement one stay tuned for when I do

part

two which is providing leadership the Patrol method how to do
knots and how to be safe online those are just those are slight overview of what the rest of the requirements are but those are what um every basic

Scout

should know when they come in to Boy

Scout

s and I will explain those in another video so thank you for watching my video on how to get the

Scout

rank

part

1 if you did enjoy it please share with any other new

Scout

s that you know to help them learn awesome like the video to know notifications on my channel and I will see you all in the next one
bye
