How to Emotionally Manipulate Your YouTube Audience

Jun 01, 2021
Okay, I'm actually doing this. I guess I should just say it. YouTubers

manipulate

their

audience

s constantly and most of the time the

audience

doesn't even know that they are being

d. Recently, Anthony from Smosh released a video explaining why he was leaving the incredibly famous Smosh YouTube channel. I just hope that being honest with you and explaining how I feel and how I have felt helps you understand. I'm not going to say I was upset in the wrong way. It's very interesting to see a perfect case study of a YouTuber manipulating his audience. Now manipulating an audience is something everyone does.
how to emotionally manipulate your youtube audience
YouTube is a unique platform because the entertainment you are watching when you watch a YouTuber is a person talking to you or at least that's how it feels, it feels like it's a person you know someone you're friends with because you know them, but they allow you to see them and we have seen many examples from people like Casey. Neistat, who spoke, hey, this video I'm showing you isn't exactly my real life, it's a hyper-edited condensed version and similarly, I feel like this video Anthony posted isn't him lying. All in all, I don't think he's lying about any of the things he feels, but I do think he's exaggerating things for an audience so they understand how he feels.

It's not necessarily an inherently bad thing, but it's something I believe. People should be more aware that when I watch this video I see so many signs that someone is trying to be

emotionally

honest with their audience, but in doing so, they are putting this false emotionality on top of everything they say, everything Anthony says. in this video he is so intentional and with purpose and soul that it seems fake because he is the one who is acting, it is hard for me to admit that it is finally happening. I'm not saying I'm not sad that he left the company.

I'm not saying I won't miss working with his friend on a YouTube show. All the things he said in the video are probably true, but he presented these feelings and thoughts in such a calculated way that it doesn't feel genuine at all. I forgot to point out the fact that this isn't like a spontaneous little video, Anthony, I mean that guy didn't just wake up out of bed and say, hey, you know what I should do, he's got his makeup, he's got his makeup? His hair is well lit and yet he does it as if he hadn't prepared what he was going to say, even though he definitely did.

There are other videos like this that have received criticism such as Ingrid, what is his last name? Ingrid Nelson as Ingrid. Nelson Nelson, there are other YouTubers like Ingrid Nilsen who made a video on YouTube about something very serious, something he wanted to share with people, but the way she chose to share it was again very calculated and feels so fake again. I'm not trying. Saying she hasn't had a hard time dealing with people who were mad at her for being gay or anything, but what I'm saying is that some YouTubers choose to present important information in an overly dramatic emotional way for people to watch.
The video here is a list of things that have occurred to me to keep in mind when watching a YouTube video of a YouTuber that you really enjoy when he talks about something that seems very emotional or difficult for him to handle, not that Actually, I'm not having a hard time dealing with this, there are just some good things to pay attention to because people manipulate people and when you have a relationship with the

youtube

r just by watching their videos, it can be quite easy to be manipulated by that person. number one the sigh now the sigh is a classic manipulation technique.
You start

your

video like this, show the audience that you are sad because you are dealing with something intense or emotional. It's really funny how many times the exact technique is said to be used. He also says it. the audience, hey, we'll be here for a while, settle in, this will be like a journey for both of us, the format change now, this is not what always happens, but a lot of times when someone is doing it. a video like this they break their normal format, they record their video on their phone or webcam if the

youtube

r you normally watch makes happy and very excited daily vlogs and suddenly, out of nowhere, it's like this sad closeup, consider the fact that They may be manipulating you by avoiding eye contact.
Now, normally, a YouTuber looks directly into the lens every time he talks to the camera because he's supposed to feel like he's talking to you in these videos, they don't want to look at the camera. Wanting to look anywhere else you've been for a long time or avoiding eye contact is a fairly well-known non-verbal sign that someone is being dishonest, so if someone has difficulty looking directly into the lens, there's a chance that not necessarily that they are lying to you but that they are not being 100%

emotionally

honest with what they feel. I understand this. I know I've done it several times.
I have had several videos on my YouTube channel where I have talked about things that meant a lot to me. When you make a video like this, you open

your

self up to the world, but YouTube is a pretty difficult place, there are a lot of people who say really nasty things about you. I don't want someone online to hurt me, they're anonymous, they can say pretty much anything they want and the words hurt so I understand why everything is so calculated, yeah that's what it is, this whole thing feels incredibly rehearsed . like they had thought of every little thing they were going to do.
I'm afraid that another thing to look for is strange breathing and strange breathing. Weird breathing is basically you need to sound like you just ran three miles or did some type of cardio. very recently let me let me try it not only is it difficult you know vocal fry' it sounds like that and when you talk to him it sounds like that I'm very sad today you know that I alone and then when you combine them it sounds like that and it's hard for me to admit to myself that it's finally happening, then we have attractive crying/just dry heaving, so you know what crying people look like, they usually look like this.
Now let's take a look at the crying in some of these videos. I'm talking about the reason why it's been so hard for me to admit that things change. The things they cry about in these videos aren't necessarily things they haven't cried about at some point, but they aren't actually crying. these moments are artificially designed emotional outbursts it's so obvious so incredibly obvious that people don't look like that when they cry when you cry you get ugly almost no one cries like a pretty person that's something from a movie because you know what happens in a movie, when someone is crying, they're acting, that's what these people do, they're just not that trained, they're not that experienced, they pretend to be sad, they bring it all out now, this is something that everyone on this type of video list, I understand, you have to increase the runtime, you have to have a video because if you just say I'm gay or I'm leaving Smosh and then the video ends, people that's not enough, people need more information than that, but you don't have to load your video at the beginning so I can't believe I'm doing this ah I've waited so long to do this I'm literally shaking I'm like so much of it just.
I'll get to what you're saying. I feel like the YouTubers who do this are acting a bit like Michael Scott. What's with the surprise? Oh yes, I'm shaking right now because I thank you, Angela, for taking care of me and it's here before I tell everyone. What is the big surprise? Would you like to tell me what you think the big surprise is? So I'm sitting here today because I care about you. There's a big surprise and here it is, here we go and I know when the Vaughn pick came out. the video of him was very simple, it didn't change his personality because of it, he was talking about something that was very emotional for him, but he didn't change to like this person when it happened, it was very simple, he didn't force a tear.
I didn't do any of that. I'm not saying Vaughn is a better person than Ingrid, but how people perceive your story and your journey comes down to presentation. The last thing I would say to look for is when a YouTuber leaves. in the part of the video where they turn the camera on or off, unless it's like a recurring gang on the show, they always start by turning the camera on and are like pimps, but most people don't do that, so here's an example of how the video would end, they would be sitting there and they would say the last things like I will never forget the time I spent with this person or with this company or with this YouTube channel and I am really looking forward to what the future holds for them and they turned off the camera and then a text appears on the screen like I love you or thank you so much for being there for me, well we can do this together, things like that, it's not inherently.
The bad thing is that it's something that happens a lot and it's very intentional, so yeah , guys, that's pretty much it, that's pretty much it, hey, what's up, what's up man, no, no, don't worry about me, it's okay, you know? Don't worry about it, it's okay, you're not bothering me, it's a bad thing, okay, you know you always left that book, Easy Riders Raging Ball, yeah, it's a really good book.
