How To Clean Your Complete Skateboard

YouTube, what's up guys? I'm doing an instructional video today and it's how to

clean

your

skateboard

. I have the worst case scenario. This is a water log. This is clearly muddy. This

skateboard

has been through the worst and has been fully documented, so here. There are some clips of how poorly this board has been treated. Yeah, now I'm going to show you how to

clean

it and hopefully we can get this board back into action in some capacity now that the water has clearly gotten to it. See all of these. stress cracks and all that stuff just happens when you let a board get wet and you don't do anything about it, but we're going to clean all the mud off of this, we're going to clean the bearings, scrub everything down, put it back together and hopefully it will be fine.

It will feel like a normal skateboard. I have never seen so much dirt on the grip. In my life, before we start, you will need a dirty skateboard, of course, you will need a bristle brush. I'll need paper towels, isopropyl alcohol or some type of cleaning solvent equivalent to this, some type of bearing grease or in this case I'm using various skateboard lubricants and grip rubber is always good just to keep the tape clean of grip in general, also some To scrape and remove all the mud, I'm using a screwdriver and then of course a skid tool, because we're going to take it apart and put it back together, so I'm just going to remove the big chunks, but like i said.

I hope you never have to deal with this, look at this, oh so much, do this outside or right here, I can sweep this up, but if you do this inside it would look like it was brewing, it would ruin anything. I guess if

your

girlfriend, your boyfriend, found out that. they kissed your best friend or something, go do it at his house, oh don't breathe it in either, but now we got the big chunks out and we're ready to scrub this thing, we have a bristle brush and we're going to take it out. It's wet and let's try it, okay?

I'm going to dip it in a little bit and just rub it in, it's turning it into mud because there's so much of it that you're going to need paper towels during this whole process. We'll just pat it down and try to get the mud off and it immediately looks like a better skateboard. Look at it, so I let it dry for a second, you can even see there are still marks there. I'm going. Go ahead and rub this off more, but it looks much better as grip tape than yellow gunk. Look at that. I did it one more time and then touched up certain areas, but it looks great on the other side.

That's another much easier situation. to clean up I can go over it with this and I also forgot to say it's the beginning. I have a toothbrush for those detailed spots and your truck is your wheels and all that, basically just wet it down, go over everything and get the water off the dash. as soon as possible, I know this thing has been soaked in water, but another kick can only hurt so much, don't you agree, Santa? What could we go over everything? I'm not going to do too big an area at once. I don't want this board to be any wetter than it already is, it's beautiful, oh my gosh look at that, it's literally like painting the earth.

I really should have done the axles first anyway, I do the axles first so in the fall the dirt falls. You don't have to claim your skateboard. I'm going to take the wheels off now, they don't turn at all and look at this, oh my goodness, if we can get that bearing working again it will be a miracle, but there are some casualties. bearings it's no big deal that they don't spin I can't spin these bearings I'm going to put my wheels and bearings aside and we'll get to that, but I'm going to clean this truck and get it ready because the bearings are probably the most technical part of all of this you have to take a few steps there's dirt that's stuck behind the kingpin that's going to drive me crazy so I'm going to go ahead and remove the kingpin nut, pull the truck apart and get all the gunk out, I'm probably not going to do too much to you unless have a rock in there or something, there's a lot of dirt in there and you can do it very easily, it won't take you long and then you put it back together, there's the truck that I haven't made.

Ready, there's the truck. I've done it, it's much better. Now I'm going to repeat on the other side, but since you know how to do this, I won't show you. Let's move on to the wheel board and the trucks are

ly clean now. Move on to the wheels and the bearings, so this will also be the hardest part because as gross as they are, it can be difficult to get the bearing out of the wheel, that one was easy, hopefully you'll get lucky, but you know, depends. What wheel do you have, horse wheels are pretty easy to get - put the bearing on the end of the axle and pry it up, but some wheels hold on to the bearings one bought me, it rolls really fast, just scrub it, use your brush of bristles or your toothbrush, whatever cleans it, this should be really easy and rewarding too because a clean wheel, I get things everywhere, there you go, clean wheel when you skate, white eels generally turn this color, so don't expect to see a shiny white wheel again unless you're skating in the cleanest environment ever, which doesn't exist right now for parents.

I'm going to spray a bunch of this isopropyl alcohol here well enough to

complete

ly cover eight bearings. if you had normal bearings with shields you would have to use something very small and take the shield out and then put it back on, but I actually have shields for those bearings, so on this Bordelaise I'm already one step ahead and rested your bearing shields on the outside, so you really let the dirt fall off the bearing, slide it off, there we go, okay and we'll let it soak for just a few minutes. This is also a really cool thing.

The bones make a bearing cleaner so you would put your bearings in this put the alcohol in here leave it and shake it just to loosen everything up with that being said I'm actually going to use it but if you don't have this just soak them the wood will be okay, it will do something to the bearing, then you put a spacer in, the spacers are included with this thing, okay, all of our bearings are in there. I'm going to pour the alcohol into this, and I'm going to shake this for a couple of minutes, just constantly pulling the alcohol through the bearings, getting all that gunk out of there, there's like a smoothie, wait here, okay, so I'll do it.

I did for a couple of minutes, the alcohol is now brown, shake it off, throw away. If it's Taylor Swift, we're going to get a paper towel and drop them on it so you can dry them. Now I'll just tap the bearings down to try to get the alcohol out. There you really see it spread out here, there's a lot of alcohol built up on these and now you're going to weigh all the bearings face up and we're going to get our bearing lubricant now, after we do that, the bearings sound like new. It feels really good and soft if you get a crispy one which I just had.

I basically just keep smashing it into the wood here to break it. I put it back into the alcohol. I shook it and then did it. I repeated that several times and loosened up how it spins like a roulette wheel what makes a DJ spin spinning like a DJ I'm kind of terrible I wasn't trying to make you laugh let's move on now the final step is I'm going to put just a little drop of quick cream or whatever type of bearing grease you are using. I'm going to apply a drop on each side, no one didn't go in there, okay, I'm going to turn it and it already sounds softer, that's the only thing some of these sounds make. like you can hear a rattle from them, this is just a softer sound, it will feel softer, so i made all the bearings with this, make sure you clean them before you use it because if there is dirt in there, it will just mix with all the dirt and gross stuff, so you're working backwards if you put bearing lube on a dirty bearing and plus when it dries it will be even faster, so skate them for a few days and it will feel a little different, better and smoother, but we're ready to put this all back together and try out that skateboard that looks nothing like it did when we started this video.

Alright, the decisive moment when we take off. Take this table into account. It didn't roll at all when we started and the bearings can be a little hard, just make sure you really put your body weight on them to get them in there and then when you tighten them you can always tighten them a little more. a little and it will tighten the bearings in the wheel very well. Now we have a clean skateboard. I know one last thing, so here's the grip tape. There are definitely signs that the grip tape was once covered in mud and then cracked from the stress of sitting. in the water for so long and unattended, they are there, but it is a really good, clean skateboard.

The grip made me mention the initial look that removes some of this really muddy debris probably won't. kick, take it off completely, but if I'm not going to do everything, but if you did this on everything, it'll even look better, you can get this five bucks at a skate shop from his work, all right, look You can see they used to look like this , now it's back to kind of a black boom, here we go, so let's do some tricks with this and see how it feels, it's probably going to feel very soggy and weird, not a lot of pop, but you. have your skateboard behind it sounds like a soaked board okay this is the mud board just very awesome very smart okay let's do some tricks literally the only way I can make big turns if I don't explode it's the only way way, so there you are.

Wow, that was how to clean your skateboard. I really hope no one has the A board so dirty in their life that this is a mess, but the fact that it came back to life, I mean at least the board, it definitely feels like it's lost.
