So HousecallPro.com/Angela All right, on to today's show. How do you

clean

your

blinds

? All right, there are a couple of different things that I want to talk about for

blinds

....
how to clean your blinds deep cleaning and maintenance clean
There's

deep

clean

ing for

blinds

, and then there's

maintenance

clean

ing for

blinds

. Now, when you first get a house

clean

ing account, or if you're a homeowner that hasn't

clean

ed

your

blinds

in a long time, you're going to do a one-time

deep

clean

. After the

deep

clean

, it's

maintenance

clean

, and the secret to the

maintenance

clean

is that you do it often. So if you have a biweekly customer and you're going to the customer's house biweekly, you're going to do those

blinds

every single time and they're maintained. They look nice. They look fabulous, and there's no more

deep

clean

ing. Yay! Isn't that awesome? And it's super easy. So, we're going to use four tools to get the

blinds

clean

, and this is for a

deep

clean

and a

maintenance

clean

. So the first one that we have is Krud Kutter. Krud Kutter is a degreaser. This is a safer choice designed for the environment, Earth-friendly product, and it is a degreaser that's going to take off all the bacon grease and nicotine and all the gunk that's built upon

your

blinds

. And what we're going to spray it on is a white terrycloth, so this is super easy. I know on the internet there are lots of choices. People use socks. They use these like little cloth things for the... you just need a white terrycloth, okay? You don't need all that stuff. And then for

your

maintenance

clean

, just a Swiffer duster. That's all you're going to use. And then if there's...
how to clean your blinds deep cleaning and maintenance clean
something really hard to get off, you'll use

your

OXO

deep

clean

ing brush to kind of scrape it off. So that's it. These four tools are all you're going to need. All right, now between you and me, there are wood

blinds

, and the wood

blinds

have a tendency to kind of warp with the weather. They expand and contract, and so lots of people have gone to the fake wood

blinds

. So we're going to talk primarily about the fake wood

blinds

today. Now if you have the little tiny, mini-metal

blinds

, my recommendation is you're a professional house

clean

er, is that you recommend to

your

customer that they hire a professional blind

clean

er. The reason being is the blind

clean

ers have these great big trucks, and they have a great big wall where they can hang up the

blinds

on the outside of the truck. And then they can scrub them down and they can hose them down with their special chemicals, and they can let them dry. Whereas with regular house

clean

ers, we probably showed up in a car or something. We don't have any place to hang them up, and then because they're metal and they bend easy, oftentimes we bend those and then they break, and we have to replace them. So, my recommendation is don't offer to do mini-

blinds

if you don't really know how to do it, and I don't recommend that you do it at all because like I said, they're almost as much money to buy a new set as it is to have them professionally

clean

ed. So if you're a homeowner, you may just...
how to clean your blinds deep cleaning and maintenance clean
want to go buy a new set or hire the professional blind

clean

er. Now, the fake wood

blinds

are super easy, okay? So the very first thing that you want to do is you want to get a step-stool that has one or two steps, and you want to pull that up next to the window so that you can reach the top of the window. The first thing that I like to do is take my Swiffer duster and go over the top ledge where the transom is, and then go down the sides of the window. Once I have that done, I'm going to take my fingers and run them along the slats of the blind, and I'm going to check to see how thick the dust or the grease is. Now if it's just light dust, I will just use my Swiffer duster. There's no sense bringing out the heavy gear, right? But if there's gunk and it's really hard to get off, then what I'm going to do is take my Krud Kutter, and I'm just going to spray some on my towel. Once I've sprayed my towel, I'm going to create a little pocket with my hands, almost like a little Muppet mouth, and I'm going to go along the slat of each of the

blinds

. Now it doesn't matter if you go left to right or right to left. It doesn't matter. You just want to make sure that you start at the top and you work

your

way to the bottom. All right, when we get to the bottom and you've

clean

ed all the gunk off the

blinds

with

your

cloth, we're going to turn the

blinds

in an upward fashion, and as they go up, we're going to take the cloth,...
turn it inside out so now you have a

clean

side, and you're going to go up the side. Start at the bottom and go up, go in the grain of the

blinds

, right? Then you're going to turn the

blinds

until they're facing down, and you're going to start at the top and you're going to come down, and you're going to dry them off. So now there are no spots, there's no dust, there's no gunk, there's nothing. Yes, that's how easy it is. It takes just a couple of minutes, literally a minute or two to do a whole set of

blinds

. Not a lot of time. All right, now, when

your

blind is

clean

, the

maintenance

version of this is exactly the same, only you leave these two parts of it out, the Krud Kutter and the terrycloth. The next time we

clean

the

blinds

, it's just going to be with the Swiffer duster. So again, you pull up

your

chair, you climb up to the top and you

clean

the transom and the area around it. But now instead of getting off the step-stool and spraying stuff on

your

rag, you're just going to keep the duster in

your

hand, and you're going to start at one side. You're going to close the

blinds

, and I might mention that it's easy once you've closed the

blinds

to take off the handle. It just slides off. There's a little hook that's just a u-hook. You slide off the little twisty bar off the thing. Because if you don't, while you're

clean

ing it's easy to bump it and then it breaks. And if you break it, you...
have to replace it. So if you just slide it off, then while you're

clean

ing you don't have to worry about that getting in

your

way. All right, now with the dusting, there are a couple of things to remember with the dusting. The very first thing we're going to do, we're going to skip all the wiping down part. For the

maintenance

clean

, all we're going to do is we're going to turn the

blinds

in an upward fashion, and we're going to go across the back of the

blinds

. That gets all the dust off the back of the

blinds

. Then we're going to turn the

blinds

over to where now they're facing down. With the down part, it's a little different. Instead of going straight across, we're going to turn the Swiffer duster sideways, and we're going to go in a little Z pattern. What that does is that bumps the slats up and it lets you get the underneath side of the blind that's below it. And then you go down over the top of it, and then you do the Z again, and it bumps the slat upward and it lets you

clean

that area. So it's a very fast process. It looks like this, right? All the way down, and it bumps each of those slats up nicely so that you can get the entire front part of it. Now, we've already done the back part of it. Now we're going to do the front part of it, right? Once that's done,

your

window is done, and then you pull the strings and you pull the blind up, and then with

your

duster you get the ledges and the bottom of...
the window sill, and you're done. It's that easy. Then as you close the blind, use both hands so that you can close it without it getting skiwampus on you. Then once you're done, you're going to straighten up the little line in the middle that holds the

blinds

together. You're going to make sure that

your

turning knob is back on correctly, and then you're going to give it a thumbs up like hey, we did a good job. Then you move on to the next window. This whole process takes about a minute. It's not very time consuming at all. And so if you maintain this and you do this every couple of weeks,

your

blinds

will always be in

maintenance

mode. There will be no dust settling on them, other than just the light normal dust that you get over a two-week period of time. So, the secret is to maintain

your

blinds

, and it's super easy to do. And so as a homeowner, you can do this on a Saturday morning, or you could assign one of

your

kids to do it. Like I say, it's a very easy project once the

deep

clean

has been done. Now, as an Airbnb you're going to do this again probably once every two weeks. This is not something that needs to be done every single day. It's not part of

your

regular turnover service as much as it is just a

maintenance

thing you're going to do every couple of weeks, just because dust doesn't, you know, generate that quickly. And so it's a super easy process, and it's a great way to just keep

your

blinds

nice and...

clean

. All right, so that, I hope my friend, helps you. If you have any questions, please leave them in the links below. And until we meet again, leave the world a

clean

er place than when you found it.
