cakey

foundation

and cakey looking makeup can be a result of your skin underneath, so that you should prepare it and make sure it is ready for the base. I'm not going to go in-depth into my skincare routine in this video, but I will link it below if you want to see my skincare routine and how I take care of my skin if you have dry skin, you really want to make sure you're exfoliating because If not, when you apply makeup on top, you will move the skin, especially if you are prone to acne and it becomes flaky when you apply makeup on top. you get skin and dry skin and patches everywhere and that can make it look cakey all over your face so you want to make sure that you're exfoliating, moisturizing and taking care of your skin so that you have an even base on top.

Your makeup brushes are clean every time you do your makeup. This does not mean washing them thoroughly, but rather cleaning the brushes every time before applying makeup to your face. I swear by the clinic makeup brush cleaner I used. I can't even tell you how many bottles of this makeup brush cleaner I just spray it on a paper towel and wipe my brush back and forth until it's clean and then it dries in about 20 to 30 seconds so there you go. boom, ready to use the brushes, if you leave product on the brushes and you keep using it over and over, day after day, it creates bacteria, which you can't do and can cause breakouts, but two layers of products in there. that's going to make your foundation, your

concealer

, your bronzer and everything look cakey because you're not cleaning your brushes, you're not starting with a clean serve, you're adding product upon product and you're buffing your face and then I just have a mix of all of these products that have been on your brushes for days and when you think about it, it's really gross before using a foundation.

I like to prep and prep my skin. I'm going to start with a fog. this will help everything look more skin-like and will really moisturize my skin type is normal to oily it just depends on the time of year. I'm more normal right now, so today I'm using this tatcha dew luminous skin mist. I love it, it's so cute. It is a liquid moisturizer. Any skin type can use it. You spray it all over your face. You can also use it after makeup. It has anti-aging properties, botanical oils and red algae extract, so it's really good and feels.

Really very pleasant for the skin. I love spraying this or Mac Fix+. I will also use one of these before I put on my makeup. If you are more on the dry side I would use something a little heavier, one of my favorites is the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Primer. I also use it a lot because since it's colder my skin can get a little dry, but this is just a thicker cream that you can apply with a brush or your fingers all over your skin. Face, let's take this and spray it all over my face once it dries.
I'm going to use a skin primer. This is very, very important because it connects your base to your skin, like priming a wall before painting. If you apply foundation so that the paint goes on evenly and I know foundations don't usually work, it's not instant gratification like foundation or concealer, but once you start using a face primer you'll never go back to it because your base lasts a long time. much longer and looks much better on top of the skin the primer I use today is the Marc Jacobs covert coconut primer. This is one of my staple products.
I love it because it is very hydrating and nourishing. You can almost use it so much, I like to rub it between my fingers and spit it out mostly in the middle of my face because that's where my problem areas are. One thing you don't want to do before your foundation is add a really heavy foundation and buff it really hard into your skin because then when you put your foundation on top of it, it emphasizes all your pores, everything looks cakey and not pretty. I don't put concealer under my foundation, I think it's too much for you.
I want to do as few layers as possible and only use products with more coverage because the more products and the more layers you apply, they won't be able to cure what it will look like. However, I want to show you what you can do if you absolutely want to. to wear something under your foundation it's not a strong concealer right now my skin has a lot of redness around my nose I'm getting breakouts like here and here I have a lot of redness in this area I'm doing it with the kids makeup challenge made me break out here , so I'm going to show you how I would cover it under a foundation if absolutely necessary and this is a little trick that I've been doing for a long time and I like it.
To take a tinted eyeshadow base under my foundation, I'll use this which is from Urban Decay, it's in the shade Eden or I'll use Mac's soft ocher paint pot because it's meant to be applied to the eyes as a base for the shadow of eyes, so it doesn't go away. to crease it's very thin but it still covers so I'm just going to apply a little bit of this to my problem areas to show you what it's going to look like. I'll take a synthetic brush and just press it into the skin. You can see in a matter of seconds that it made a huge difference, all the redness and discoloration.
My skin looks much better even now and I didn't use a heavy concealer, so now we can move on to foundation, my favorite way to apply. The foundation is with a Beauty Blender sponge and none of the real Beauty Blender brand knockoffs. This is the best I've ever tried. It's my favorite. You can get cheaper versions if you're on a budget, but it doesn't work in my opinion. Also, all the ones I've tried I don't think work as well as the original. Make sure to wet your Beauty Blender. I run it under the sink, squeeze it, and then squeeze out the excess with a paper towel.
The foundation I'm going to use today is the Maybelline Poreless Matte Foundation. This is a medium to full coverage foundation. I want to apply some full coverage so you can see how it looks. Today I'm going to get tough. The sensation of the new Beauty Blender. I haven't used this one yet. I apply my foundation directly into the B Blender and this is a lot because this foundation is a little long so I'm just going to lightly apply it onto the skin. and I'm a self tanner so this foundation will match my body so don't turn your face away.
The good thing about Beautyblender also is that if you have dry skin or dry patches it will just pop out and not alter the skin because it is very soft, it is worth brushing it when you are buffing it into the skin, it can alter the surface and texture of your skin , so if you are prone to drying the patch, open the polisher, it will move it, use it, just press lightly on the skin and it just becomes one with your skin. I like to

stop

with one layer of base, but I'm going to fill it in a little bit around this area so you can see how the Beauty Blender and this technique make it not look cakey and you can still add more coverage if you want, so this is it with a second layer.
I always get a lot of questions about how to keep your concealer from fading and looking cakey. One of the biggest mistakes I see is that people buy a lighter concealer and layer and layer and layer under their eyes to get rid of dark circles and I think it's okay, I keep layering it, I keep layering it, then I It will remove dark circles, right? No, boo boo, if you just buy a lighter concealer, sometimes it has the reverse effect, so there's a reverse dark circle where you have this shimmer under your eye and you still have a gray shadow where your dark circles are, so the way to fix it is to use a good color concealer under your concealer, my top 3 colors.
Concealers are number one, Becca's under eye color concealer is amazing. I know if I use it a lot on my Urban Decay nude channel, they have their color correctors, the peach is amazing and in this video I'm going to use the Smashbox color concealer. This is the light peach shade so with a little creamy pencil I'm going to put a little bit right on the inner corner of my eyes and without even blending it out you can see how the color corrected the darkness under my eyes so I'm just going to take my Beauty Blender and I'll gently blend it for my concealer.
I like to lighten one or two shades lighter than my skin tone today. I'm going to use the Canvas Tape Tone Concealer, this is one of my all time favorites. favorites it's a heavy duty full coverage concealer but it's very moisturizing you want something moisturizing nothing too creamy and dry I'm not a big fan of cream or bottled concealers because they tend to be drying and crease or they're super greasy and I just It looks weird sitting on the skin, but that's just my personal opinion. I don't know if you guys knew, but the under eye area is the only area of the face that doesn't produce perspiration, that's why we use eye cream, because even if it doesn't feel or look dry, it's actually very dry. dry, so the more hydrating the concealer is, the better it will feel and look in that area.
I'm using a light/medium shade and I'm only going to highlight the bottom of the eye. area and any other problem areas, so I like to go down a triangle and you don't have to cover every part because we're going to mix it up. Another reason why concealer sets is if you use too much product because then the product is there and builds up still using my Beauty Blender. I'm using the pointed side to blend it out, so now let's set the concealer. My favorite way is to bake. I use Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder, this is my favorite powder to set my concealer.
I have a lot of questions about how to apply it because a lot of you say it looks powdery or dry so I'm going to show you how I do it and again I'm going to still use my Beauty Blender because it's wet so it loosens the powder a little bit so that the skin look clearer. I just like to dip my eyes into the product and apply one coat at a time. I usually do two. layers really pressing it into the skin and then I'm also going to set my nose and everywhere I applied concealer, but I'm using the least amount of powder that I can.
I'm not going to keep dipping and keep dipping into the other parts. on my face because I just want a light dusting of powder to set the concealer. I let it sit on my face for a minute or two usually while I fill in my brows and then tap off the excess powder. I'm thinking about a powder brush. I'm going to lightly dust all the excess powder off the camera. I'm going to finish the rest of my face and then come back to finish the skin. A quick tip when applying bronzer and contour. If you like cream contour, just make sure you apply the cream contour on the skin, not on the powder, so where I baked in this area, if I turned down the bake and then applied the cream on top, it will get cakey and you'll never want apply it. liquids or creams on top of the powder, so keep that in mind, this is the final sealing step that I always do at the end of my makeup and I like to set it with a setting mist or spray, my favorite thing is mac fix+ i swear, this It's another product.
I've tried so many bottles it has green tea, chamomile, glycerin and it's really soothing to the skin, plus it clogs your pores or makes you break out, so I'm going to miss out on it worldwide. skin and what this does, it's sprayed very finely and it just makes all the powder products and the cream products, whatever you put on your face, it makes everything melt and normalize until it looks like one with the yours and you will not see it. the product sits on the skin and if you like that dewy look you can spray a big amount and it makes you look really dewy, but I'm going to spray like a little dip real quick.
I just like to hold it over this bar. and then I'll let it dry. I'm going to let it dry. I'll go ahead and change it and come back with the final result, so here's the final look. I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial with my little tips and tricks. Be sure to give it to him.
