I want to say a huge thank you to Skillshare for sponsoring him in today's video. I'll tell you a bit more about them later in the video, but I have a really awesome offer for you all and I think you'll love it, but let's keep going. go ahead and jump into the DIYs for t First DIY I wanted to make a bigger laundry room sign that would have a bigger impact instead of cutting this smaller sign but I'm using one of my Easter scraps I'm Taller Dollar Tree signs I started by removing all the 3d pieces on the front.

I thought those little bunny feet on the front would be cute to keep and maybe paint little baby feet on there and you could recycle them as a diaper cake or maybe a DIY baby gift, so I thought this would be a really fun thing to keep. I love saving all those little pieces of wood from my Dollar Tree signs, so I started by filling my nail holes with some putty or wood putty and then I'm going to give it a couple good coats of my guy. really talked about paint in the color white make me play forever it will be no doubt that last time i was at

dollar

tree

they had some beautiful new decals for the laundry room or they were new to my store but if not you can go out and get these, you could definitely write something in a word document or do something in PicMonkey or just print out a free printable you find online or just use the Dollar Tree stickers, but I think any kind of black stickers just jump out of this white.

I love these little decals. This one says laundry room. leave your drawers here. I thought it was too cute to put in the laundry room. I wanted this sign to be more of a center piece in my laundry room. So I'm went out to the garage and picked out a board. I'll leave the dimensions in the description box but I put the sign on top and cut it a little longer than my Dollar Tree sign and I feel like this improved the quality and made it so nice and I loved it. I'm just using a walnut stain that I already had and it has an orange undertone to it which doesn't blow my mind but all that was really exposed was the edges and it looked a lot darker at the edge so I was very happy with it and I think it it frames beautifully after i apply my tint there.

I let it sit for several minutes, probably 10-15 minutes, and then I'm using it. I used a plastic bag over my hands. so I didn't have to wear my gloves but I was able to take a paper towel and get all the excess stain off and then I took this outside and let it dry completely so thanks what I'm doing is I'm just going to hot glue my

dollar

tree

sign there it was literally like four or five steps and very simple but its a beautiful

farmhouse

laundry sign i know i would pay dearly if i bought it in a store the dollar tree decals are definitely one of my favorite items to create because it's the easiest way to put a font on a sign.
That's how it came together and I think it's absolutely beautiful. I love how they look, but before I continue with the video I want to thank Skillshare for sponsoring today's video and tell you a little more about them. I'm actually just finishing this Rosalie Haslett class called Watercolor in the Woods, which has been in my favorite class, but it's so ca Record and relax and I feel like I'm already better at paying attention to small details when using watercolor paints, like this which i definitely recommend you check out that class and i will leave a link below and for the first 1000 of my subscribers they will receive a two month free premium membership so you can go and try this completely free.
I know creative people like you are going to love this because I've been really enjoying these classes so I'll put that link below. Let's move on. and jump to the video because i have some more beautiful laundry rooms and diys so i found another set of cute dollar tree decals i was dying to use and i needed a sign with a pretty background. a little bit of texture there so it doesn't look like another cheap dollar tree sign if that makes sense so I'm using one of these little wood signs they're actually bigger than the wood signs I usually buy so i was really excited to find them they cut off the little tabs so i needed to find a way to cover all of that up and i couldn't paint this right so i want it to look like it has a little bit of a frame around the edges so i start with a little bit of my dark gray elephant paint in Waverly chalk paint and I give it a couple of coats around the edges and I wanted to do that first so that I could go ahead and fill it in the background with white even though I'm going to use some wood slats on this I wanted a really nice bright white background so it wasn't too harsh and dark if my slat lines weren't exactly perfect the white paint in the background was shiny and hiding all those mistakes so I'm using some of these huge popsicle sticks from Walmart.
I love keeping them on hand and I'm just measuring how big they need to be and then cutting them to a pair. of scissors and then using it as a pattern to cut out the rest of the m. Some of them were a bit too big so I had to cut them out but I got about the same size. I ended up running into seven of the popsicle sticks, but I went ahead and painted a few more just to make sure for good measure. one cracked or didn't work and I went ahead and painted them white and ended up doing two coats so they were really bright white and didn't show any of the wood through these were a perfect fit which was perfect and like me lets say a couple of I had to trim them but I wanted these as close to the edge as possible so you couldn't see any blemishes and then I held the others in place while I pulled out one at a time and then glued it back on so they didn't move because they all they had to be in their exact spot or that was going to fit like i said i needed to cover the holes in the bottom so i'm using these but you can definitely use a marker if you have a solid signal so these are the lovely ones from cals that i found new ones at dollar tree like i said i'm not going to dollar tree right now i'm just using what i have in my stash but i found these before the quarantine ended and i thought they were adorable.
I love the font on these but most of all I love these little images of the washing machine and the little laundry basket so I thought they were adorable it would make a beautiful sign so after I fixed the wash and dry because I had that backwards , I changed it and then I just found where I could put all these little photos. At first I didn't think I would use the huge little machine but I thought it was too cute not to and I'm so happy because I think that's what makes the whole poster so adorable. so I like to clip them and see where they're going to go so I clip them as close to the letters as possible and I can rearrange them and see where they should be and then I can filter and put them. down but i thought this was so cute dry clean fold repeat thats kind of the story of my life right now we are doing a lot of dishes and a lot of laundry so this is perfect to put in my laundry room and this is how it was put together.
I don't have a lot of shelf space so I glued some tape to the back of this and hung it over one of my cabinets that I don't use a lot of and thought it was lovely to hang on there and a perfect way to dress up these little cabinet doors The next thing I wanted to do is find a neat little place that you can put your lint in. I took a basket from Hobby Lobby last year and turned it into a lint basket and I loved using it and I know a lot of you really liked it. and they wanted one but they were hard to find because it was something that was sold out so I wanted to be able to bring them something that everyone can do and especially since it's only a dollar so I found this basket at Dollar Tree and thought I had the perfect pattern there and the perfect shape it's really thin and tall so w could hold a lot of lint and it kinda fits against the wall and it's very light so if you wanted to hang this it has a lot of holes so I wondered later if you wanted to add a piece of burlap inside so none of your fluff could get through, but I didn't.
I didn't do it in the video, but something I'll definitely do later, so the first thing I wanted to do is give this a more galvanized look, using some of my elephant color. chalk paint, which is dark grey. I started by applying this around the handle to get that texture. I also thought that I would have to apply it to the entire basket, but there was so much texture in there that I really couldn't tell. I just brushed it on there, it was so much easier and i got so much more coverage to get everything done. they have a lot of texture and then i showed you the bottom where i kind of brushed it to blend with everything so i wanted a little circle of wood to hang from this.
I had found these wooden ornaments I think they were called crown ornaments or crown charms from Dollar Tree a couple of months ago and bought about ten of them and I'm sad they didn't have more. I thought the tin was a bunch of them, but I'm reviewing them because they're so much fun to use, so I covered this. It's cute as it is if you want to wear it as is or in a wreath or something but I wanted a sign that said fluff so you would know exactly and other people would know exactly what this was and especially maybe cheer up my husband or sort of to put the clothes on here but i traced a wooden spool i had with a sharpie marker to get the black circle and then just freehand drew the word fluff you could definitely use stickers but i wanted more of a curly font that would fill everything the circle and I thicken the lines a little bit so they look a little bit better and then I get some greenery from a Hobby Lobby a garland I had and I put them in opposite directions and I thought it would be so cute if this little fluff sign hung from a jade thread with a pair of small wooden beads. on top so I weave them through these are just from a Hobby Lobby it wouldn't be a garland but you can definitely order them online and then I tied them to the top of this basket come your futures I wish so bad I had I actually picked up more of these baskets because I also think this same design would work perfectly hanging as stacked on top of each other hanging on the wall to hold folders on your desk or papers especially since we are all homeschooling so I bought two of stepped on these and one of them so it cracked but i wish so badly i could get more of them because like i say i think this would be beautiful in an office but that's how the fluff was left i think it's beautiful i love the little wooden beads and how it makes it jump out of there but I think it's so cute.
I've just attached this to my dryer for now, but I'll definitely try mounting it on the wall. The next project will be a set of these three blocks. I searched my house to find three matching wooden blocks of the same size. I had a couple of these left over from Valentine's but couldn't find the third one so I really had to dig deep into my craft stash to find it but I was so excited I found three the same size and I'm going to make all three as a set but you can definitely feel free to make a solo one if you have a shelving area in your laundry room but these were so adorable and how they come out and i love them so much the first thing i'm doing is using some chalk paint silver which is a light gray color and I'm going to brush the edges, the front and the inside of this add these little blocks I'm going to put some brown truffle paint over the top with a dry brush that over a and then I'll take a piece of sandpaper so everything is scratched up a bit and looks more like a frameof wood after being happy with how the edges looked and they looked like little frames I painted the inside white Actually as I say I'm making a set of three and would have gone ahead and painted all the backs if I was just crafting normally , but i have another decal i'm using surprise surprised these are so fun to use that's one from the laundry room so dollar tree did it with the laundry room decals I love these, but I was so excited to put this one in one of those little squares that it fit perfectly.
I was worried that I would have to cut one. of the lines to make it fit, but it all fit so well and I was inspired by that little t-shirt hanging on the hanger. I thought it was so adorable and I thought it would be fun to make a bigger one because I needed something to put these three blocks on so I go ahead and press them and then I'll paint the other two with a black background so they can contrast with each other and I'll let some of the white words stick out so a lot of the time I'm used to using chalk paint which is like a ker substance and I just put it on my project and blend it all together.
I forgot how much thinner acrylic paint is and every time I try to put it on the project I get too much paint so I had to dip a bit. of each of these because it was too much but I'm definitely going to use it on other projects I'm doing today and I try to use a smaller brush to go around the edges on the white but on the black one it blends really well so I went ahead and i used a bigger brush. I loved how the two darker blocks were on the bottom and then the white one was on top so I wanted to make 5 cents per load.
I thought that would be so cute so I needed a white 5 so I ended up doing two layers on one of these poster decals on the number 5 so I use that on this sign. I had some white felt stickers from Walmart and these were the perfect size so I went ahead and added them to the bot tom started over with the last letter to try to make it as even as possible so I didn't run out of space and that simple was to get these words but as I say feel free to use any decal that used a cricket or silhouette if that's what you have or feel free to print something or this is definitely something you can do freehand and the latter is in the one i was so inspired by that little shirt on a hanger i wanted mine to look like a little t-shirt so i added the sleeves this is just something i cut out of a chocolate box a piece of cardboard i had and i'm using it as a pattern so i loosely cut it i wasn't drawing it or anything so i wanted this one that i'm actually cutting out to make the sign as symmetrical as possible so i traced one side flipped it and traced the me smo side to make them even and then this is just a piece of white cardstock that I'm cutting it out I wanted it to come out of there so I'm using my little black stitch method around the edges I think that makes it really homemade and cute , and then I was just going to use the shirt at first, but I got so excited thinking about making my own hanger, so I just took a piece of thick wire that I had on my hand and shaped it into a little hanger.
At first I thought it looked like a real hangar but then after trying to attach it to the top I gave it a ladylike shape but that's ok I know you're not. I'm going to see the bottom part so I went ahead and glued it to the sign and then I glued the little white cardstock shirt over the top and it was that easy to put them together you could do a bunch of different options and make it more personalized but I think this one It's a beautiful, pretty piece to add to your laundry room

decor

and if you made it all the way, I've got a special little treat for you.
