This is the

2020

Chevy Corvette and it is simply the most popular car of the

year

. I have never received as many requests to review a car as the new

corvette

and today I am going to do just that, I am going to start with A little history The Corvette first appeared in the 1950s and has been a constant in American history since That, along with baseball and barbecue, the latest Corvette models have been great, but overall they have been an evolution around a fairly similar theme. with a quite similar appearance that changes now the

2020

chevy

corvette

is the eighth generation model hence the name c8 and has a totally different everything starting with the fact that the engine is in the rear or more exactly in the middle behind the seats of the corvette It has had 70

year

s of engine in the front, but that is already done.
here s why the 2020 chevy corvette c8 is the hottest car of the year
The manual transmission is also done. The only way to get the new 8th generation Corvette is with a dual-clutch automatic transmission, not that you're complaining because the numbers are incredible. The new Corvette comes standard with a V8 engine that makes 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque and that dual-clutch automatic transmission sends it from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds, that's a big deal, but

here

's an even bigger one: it starts below $60,000. Earlier in automotive history you could get a sports car with this level of performance and this level of power for this money and today you can find out what else you get because today I'm going to take you on a complete tour. of the new corvette and show you all the quirks and features of the most anticipated car of the year or, frankly, any year since I started doing this, then I'm going to take the new corvette out on the road and drive it. and then I'll give it an excellent score.
here s why the 2020 chevy corvette c8 is the hottest car of the year

More Interesting Facts About,

here s why the 2020 chevy corvette c8 is the hottest car of the year...

I'm going to start with the quirks and features of the c8 with the key which is actually pretty standard on the back you have a corvette logo and then you have another corvette. Sort of a logo on the side, this one is just gray and looks cool, then you flip it over and that's where all the buttons are. You have six in total, but the most interesting one is the one in the middle of the circle, which would be the remote control. Start button you lock the car, press that twice and it starts up ready to start your Corvette experience and next let's talk about what happens when you unlock the car, some interesting things, the most notable is in the back, press the unlock button and you will be able to see.
here s why the 2020 chevy corvette c8 is the hottest car of the year
The turn signal flashes sequentially to inform you that the car has recognized your unlocking at the front. Something similar happens too, press the unlock button, the turn signal flashes and then the running lights gradually come on again to inform you. that the car is recognizing your presence, but before getting into the c8 I want to start by going back. There are a few ways to do this: Press this little button on the keychain twice, as you can see, and then the back. it opens and you can open it or you can go to the back of the car, above the license plate, you have a little button on the back, you press it so the back opens and you can get in, there is also a button on the inside, but anyway I'm going to open it and then you'll access the back compartment.
here s why the 2020 chevy corvette c8 is the hottest car of the year
As you can see, there are some interesting items in the rear compartment, starting, of course, with the engine, which is probably the biggest news about the new Corvette: the engine. It's been moved to the middle for better weight distribution and basically a better sports car driving experience, but anyway, as I mentioned, the engine is a 6.2-liter v8 and comes standard with 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque or you can upgrade to the The z51 package that this car has is a performance package that costs five thousand dollars and adds a few items, one of which is a performance exhaust that gives it five horsepower additional and five more pound-feet, bringing the total to 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet. of torque and the upgrades with the z51 package go beyond the high performance exhaust and a little more power, you also get better brakes or better stopping power, you get a better suspension for sportier handling, you get better tires, summer performance on z51 cars like this one.
Unlike the all-season tires on other Corvette models, you also get an improved cooling system that will come in handy on the track when you're doing a lot of racing laps. You get an electronic limited slip differential which again will help with your steering and handling and has a couple of appearance upgrades - the z51 cars get this front splitter which gives them a more aggressive look at the front and the c8 with the z51 you get this rear spoiler which also enhances the more aggressive look of this car. Now comes another interesting one. item worth noting in this engine bay, this car has the engine appearance package which gives you two cool items one is these LED lights over the engine so they illuminate your engine so you can look at it and admire it.
The engine appearance package also gives you this. carbon fiber trim around the engine which makes everything look a little better, a little sportier, a little better now the other element worth mentioning here is that in addition to the engine bay, this area is also a trunk. I see you open this rear hatch and they are both contained in one area, of course the trunk varies separately from the engine to avoid heat problems, but you can get a good amount of stuff in this trunk, it is surprisingly large, relatively practical and is designed to carry the roof, all Corvette Coupe models actually have a removable Targa top and it is designed to fit here in the trunk, no problem, let me show you what I mean, to start the process of removing the roof, first You have to unhook it, I'm coming.
To begin, disengage the front latches. You can see it's very easy to do, just pull them back and then move on to the rear latch. This one is a little more complicated, but still very simple. Very easy process to unlatch the top and from there once you've unlocked the roof from the inside it's pretty easy to get it off just lift it off the pins at the back and it's surprisingly light you can just lift it up and walk away and from suddenly your targa roof comes off. and from here you're holding up the roof, you want to put it in the trunk, you just bring it back here, it's pretty light and it goes into some guides along the bottom, from there you just push it down and it locks into place and then you're ready, you can close your trunk, your roof is with you and you can drive in your open roof configuration pretty easy and next I want to show you the other interesting elements with this rear compartment, one is how it closes.
There's a little handle built into the bottom of the rear compartment so you can stick your hand in there, do that, and then you can easily close it. The other cool thing is that you don't have to slam the rear compartment to close it because it has a soft close feature, basically what that means is that you can gently lower the rear compartment to a position where it looks like it's almost closed and then the car will do the rest electronically. Take another look and see that it is simply automatic. it locks itself so you don't have to slam it shut like you might think, that's a really cool feature and then we move on to the other trunk because this car has two, there's one in the back like I just showed you and there's one in the front because taking out the engine From here it gives you more space and you can use it as a cargo compartment.
Now entering the front trunk has an interesting peculiarity. There are a couple of normal ways to do it. There's a button on the inside that will open it or you can tap this button on the key fob twice and that will open it pretty standard, but my favorite way to get into the front trunk is through the hidden trunk latch on the front of the car, which is right under the driver's side headlight, you reach under here and you can feel the little rubber button on the trunk, you press it and as long as the car is unlocked, the trunk will pop open and then you can get in, take another look it's right below and open the trunk right now when you're in the trunk or rather I should say the front trunk as there are two there are some interesting quirks worth noting one is the size this is quite a size reasonable and a good complement to the The rear trunk has more cargo space than you normally get in a mid-engine sports car like this.
Another interesting element in the front trunk is the government-required emergency opening of the interior of the trunk in case someone tries to kidnap you with their C8. You press this button. you can exit and I love the diagram of this button. Showing this scared person with arms flailing jumping out of the front trunk of the c8 at least illustrates its purpose very clearly, but perhaps my favorite thing about the trunk of the c8 is the way the trunk lid is designed at the front. It has this kind of serrated edge. The front almost looks like a puzzle piece.
How it fits into the bodywork. I love this look. They could have made it bland and simple, but instead it almost feels like it. like it has aggressive angry teeth even though this is just the trunk lid lip design, it's cool and since we're on the outside of this car and talking about the looks, let's do it, let's look at the styling of the new Corvette. I love it. I think there is one big drawback, which is that the design of the front end looks too tall visually compared to the rear end and compared to the look of this car, it's almost as if the front end is a bit ungainly and doesn't completely perfect, but otherwise I love the look of this car, it stands out, it looks much more exotic, much more expensive than it is and I think they did a great job.
I don't consider it really beautiful but it stands out, it makes a statement and it's really cool, probably my favorite corvette design since the C2 in the 1960s which is really one of the most beautiful cars ever made and for me it's a great improvement over the C5, C6 and C7, which frankly always seemed like evolutions. In the same basic design we were ready for a big change for a Corvette and we got one and next let's talk about some design Easter eggs on the exterior of this car. One is on this rear window and it has this kind of faded black piece. around the edge of the window, but if you look closely you can see that the fading elements are actually small corvette logos, all going down the window.
I also showed you this on the c7 corvette, but the c8 maintains it. and it's a nice little thing that most people won't notice but some will notice especially if they've seen this video and then if you're like me you're probably wondering where exactly a faceplate would go because most of North America and all the rest of the world requires a front license plate apparently you just open this little compartment that says Corvette on the front, take it out and then there is a bracket that you can mount here to put the license plate on, but obviously this car will be seen a lot better without front license plate, it's really going to ruin the front visual style and design of this car, where everything comes to a point, but obviously in some places you have to do it, this is how I would do it and below is another interesting quirk that you can see from your angle the mirror posts are different lengths on the driver side you can see the mirror post ok you go to the passenger side and the mirror post is actually longer.
Apparently this is a visibility issue, if the pillars were the same size, on the passenger side the mirror would be too close to the car and the A-pillar could block the driver's line of sight to the mirror, thus protruding a bit. a little more and that's how you get to the unequal length mirror posts, something you don't really notice unless you look very closely and the next interesting exterior element of this car is the lighting, especially at the rear, there are A couple of interesting elements, one is the turn. Signal This car has a progressive turn signal that has become popular on modern vehicles.
You can see that it lights up and then gets progressively smaller, which is the opposite of most cars where the signal starts small and gets progressively larger, which is how it is on the Ford Mustang is probably the most common car that use this feature. Another interesting rear lighting element is the brake lights. When I press the brake lights you can see it's not the entire tail light assembly that comes on but just these little lights on the rims and you realize it was also the turn signal that you put on the turn signal and one of the brake lights disappears to become the turn signal.
This is still allowed under US taillight regulations.interesting here is that you have this whole rear brake light. light to work that could come on for the brake lights, but it doesn't, instead it is limited to that small area and shares the illumination with the turn signal, something I didn't realize until I started playing with this car and finally with our The last interesting element on the exterior of the Corvette is the cameras on the front. It has a pair of cameras to give you a front camera view, which is becoming more and more common on more and more new cars, and in the rear it has a camera that can be seen mounted above the license plate to give you the view of the rear camera which is now mandatory here in the United States.
The interesting camera though is on top, you can see in the middle, right next to the rear window, there's a camera back there, so what exactly? is that I'm going to show you in a second how to do it, we move inside the new corvette where it's dry and warm and I direct your attention to the rearview mirror because it's not really a mirror at all. It's a mirror, but if you flip this switch , it becomes a camera screen and of course the camera that powers that screen is the one that is mounted on the back of the car and that is why it is placed there and the benefit of this mirror camera is obvious.
Instead of having a mirror where you just look behind you and you can see the seats and the body and it obstructs your vision, the camera your vision is not obstructed at all, it's a really cool feature and one of the best things about the mirror. The camera is its adjustability, on one hand you can change the brightness in case you want to be a little brighter, a little dimmer, whatever you decide, you can also zoom in case you just want to see more, more close or less, you can choose exactly where. the camera shows up and you can tilt it like a mirror, you can move it up or down depending on your seating position, where you are in the seat, exactly what you want to see, it's a pretty neat little trick and next we move on to Probably the element most controversial interior of this car and that would be the central control panel.
You can see that there is like a giant line of buttons and switches in the middle. I counted 20 different settings here between all the buttons and switches and they're all just organized in this single line in the center instead of the usual central control stack arrangement in basically every other car, so let me walk you through it. through this line of buttons on the top you have the controls for the driver's side so this switch on the top adjusts the temperature of the climate control on the driver's side it also has a heated seat and a seat with cooling there and some other controls on the bottom you have the controls for the passenger side so you can see from it Down below again there is another switch for the climate control temperature on the passenger side and once again you have the seat heated, cooled seat that is for the passenger side.
Now there are no arrows pointing to these signs, you just have to figure out that one side is the passenger side. and one side is the driver's side, but you get there pretty quickly now all the other buttons in the center are sort of more general climate control buttons, so you have the buttons on top that direct the airflow , the switch in the middle controls the fan. speed, you can turn on the climate control system, turn on the air conditioning recirculation, your front defroster, your rear defroster, all the typical climate control buttons are in the middle, so that's what all those buttons are on At the core, it's practically your integrated climate control system. in a line of buttons and switches in the middle of this interior and then another very notable element with the new Corvette is its steering wheel, specifically the fact that it is not a steering wheel at all, you can see that it is much more squared than the part superior. and the bottom are basically square and the side just has a little more wheels, as you would expect, that's how a lot of racing cars are, they have these kind of square looking steering wheels and they've adopted that on the new corvette as well.
Next, another interesting element on the new Corvette is the gear selector, there is no lever, there is no dial that you turn, instead you have this little capsule in the center with all the controls for reverse, you actually have to lift this switch and that puts the car in The same goes for driving behind, you lift switch d and that puts the car in drive. It's a little different for park and neutral because those are just buttons you can press. You can see p for park, just push it and n for neutral, same thing, just push it and it goes into neutral, but I guess they want you to put a little more effort into reverse and drive because those are the gears where the car can actually move now at the base of this capsule you also have a plus button with an m which of course puts the car into manual mode and then you can use the shift pedals from there to change gears yourself and then some more interesting elements in this area, I'll start. with these three little buttons next to the gear selector on the right, you have a button with a camera marked front, you press it and it opens the front camera screen on the central infotainment screen and look at this screen, it's perfect for a Low Sports Car shows exactly where your front end is basically from top to bottom, so it shows exactly where you are on parking curbs or other obstacles you might run into.
It's a brilliant feature. I wish I had it in my sports car. I love it. and I love how easy it is to access with the press of a button instead of an entire menu system and I feel that way about the next button in this group too. You can see the button in the middle here is the front. of the car with an arrow that is the axle lift system look at this you push that and the front end lifts almost two inches in just three seconds this is the best axle lift system in the car in a mclaren you have to go into several different menus and pressing things and then you have to wait like 30 seconds for the front to rise.
It's ridiculous, this car you're parking in a driveway with a pretty steep angle. All you do is reach out, tap the button three seconds later, the front. The end is raised so you can erase it. A brilliant feature and perhaps an even more interesting feature than the button is the fact that the car can remember places where it has to lift the axle, so you go to a service station that you visit frequently and where there is On a road steep, you can set it in memory and then every time you get close to that location, the car will raise the axle automatically because it remembers that that's a place where it has to do it and the car can store up to a thousand of these locations.
So every problem driveway in the city you can program it into the infotainment system, the car will remember it and the axle lift will automatically go up when you approach them. All right, and then near those buttons you have this little piece sewn on with the Corvette logo that is a palm rest that you put your hand in there while you're using the infotainment system so you have something to rest on, not only do you have to hold it in the air or if you are used to driving a manual. car with transmission something with a shifter and good hand support, now you have a place to do that.
Now you can see on this palm rest that you have the word mode printed on it, which gives you a clue as to where you change the driving modes. Don't just press the mode button, but underneath the palm rest, there's a little dial that you can turn that will adjust your different drive modes. It has a few different options, it has the normal mode that Chevy calls Tour or it has the sport mode which is of course a little sportier or you have a track mode which is even sportier or you have a configurable mode called my mode where you can set some different elements, like the steering, the suspension, that kind of thing I wouldn't normally mention a configurable mode.
The drive mode is an interesting thing because a lot of cars that have different drive modes have it, but the good thing here is that it remembers if you have it in my mode even after you turn the car off, so if you have the car in your drive mode configurable. and then you turn it off when you go to turn it back on, remember that it was in your drive mode and it stays that way so you don't have to switch to your drive mode every time you get in and turn it on. pretty good and the next interesting thing about the interior of the c8 is the packaging.
This is a fairly small interior with a fairly sculpted design facing the driver and the roof comes off so you can't put anything in there and that means they had to fix it. of moving some things around in interesting ways, an example of that is the hazard lights which are actually mounted on the roof next to the rear view mirror, you press that's how you get the hazard lights on the new c8, another good example, the ceiling lights or reading lights you can't mount them on the ceiling because they come off, so they put them on either side of the mirror, stuck there and hidden, but they are there and they work in their place. tight like other things here and the next one is another good example of some interesting packaging in this car, the cigarette lighter, there is no room in the center control console area for the cigarette lighter, which is where you would find it basically in any other place.
Instead, they've placed it under the dash on the passenger side and in the footwell behind the glovebox, so if you need to use the cigarette lighter, it's there, but it's hard to find again some kind of gimmicky packaging, but despite everything. Kind of smart places Chevy had to put things to get it all in this car. It's worth noting that the center console still has two cupholders. You press this little lid, it opens up and reveals two cup holders here and you also have a center console. storage area behind those cup holders, so even though they had to move a lot of things and put them in place, they were able to put the cup holders and storage in the center, which is precisely where you would expect them and speaking of which. center area worth discussing what's between the seats of this car a couple of interesting things one is where your wireless charger is you put your phone in that little spot and it will charge for you it's between the seats behind you now on top of the wireless charger you have a speaker that looks pretty normal except if you look at it from a very severe angle you can see that the Corvette logo is built into the speaker, you can barely see it, you have to be at exactly the right angle but there is a small e Interesting Easter egg hidden inside and the next notable element in this interior are the climate control vents, which are thin and I mean, very thin.
General Motors told me they are the thinnest vents they have ever put on any vehicle. but more interesting than how thin they are is how you adjust them, you have these little switches that you can move when you move it all the way to the side the vent is closed or you can use the switch to direct the airflow very Thin vents with controls minimums now between the passenger side vents, you can see there's like a little button there, you press it and it opens the glove box, so if you're curious how to get in, that's where you have to press now, once you're in the glove box, you can see it's pretty standard, just a glove box, nothing strange here except on the side there is an SD card slot, so what exactly is it?
Well, it turns out you use that SD card slot. Along with the performance data recorder that you access through the infotainment system, you go in there and you can activate a feature that will actually record your laps on a race track using a built-in camera inside the car so you can watch later and I see that maybe you missed an apex where you could improve, accelerate better, brake harder, whatever. Now many modern performance cars have these performance data recorders, but there are a couple of interesting elements worth noting on this one, for one, you get to choose your overlays.
So basically the graphics that will appear on your screen while you're recording or while you watch them later, you can see that your overlay options are not sports tracks or timing, but the nice thing here is that you can preview them, like this that if you have them. in none, this is what your playback will look like when you watch your laps later, but you go to the sport and then press preview and you can see what your recordings will look like later, there is some real data on the screen that pulls from your movements of the steering wheel on your acceleration or whatever and you can do the same with the track or thetiming.
Here's the timing and you can see it shows you exactly what you might want to know if you're a serious track driver and want to see your laps. back to see precisely where you arrive at each corner, what time on the track, all that, it's a very cool feature to have it integrated into the car and another cool feature about the performance data recorder, you don't have to use it just for the performance. You can also set it to be a dash cam that automatically turns on every time the car is started and will record. This is a brilliant idea.
All cars should come with dash cameras as standard. This helps find out what happens if there is an accident or incident. on the road and it's great to see Chevy allowing the performance data recorder to also function as a dash cam in this car and then a few other notable items with the infotainment system located to the left of the screen you have. a small knob that is the volume control for this car, you can see that it is quite far away for the passenger to reach, but it is worth noting that the driver also has a separate volume control on the steering wheel, so the driver has easy access to adjust the volume but that is the only other volume control in this interior you can see right next to the volume control there is a physical button with a house that is the home button for the information system and entertainment, so if you're deep in some menu you're lost trying to find your way back, just press the home button and you can get there now.
It's worth noting that those are the only two physical buttons for the infotainment system. Everything else is done on the screen, but you always have a group of icons at the bottom that can immediately take you to the usual things, like climate control, media, the navigation screen or the right to home, they are always there. there, so it also makes it pretty easy if you want to navigate this system now. I recently reviewed this infotainment system on the new gmc sierra heavy duty and it's a pretty similar system to that one so I'm not going to go over everything.
Again but I will say that this is a very responsive system when it comes to You touch it, touch it, whatever it is, it does exactly what you expect, just like you would expect a smartphone to do, and it's all very intuitive, very well designed, very simple and forthcoming. Above, I want to talk about something interesting called z-mode. You see this little button on the steering wheel to the left of the horn that says z. You press the z to light up which is a really cool look and then you're in. z mode, so you may be wondering what exactly z mode is.
It's a special driving mode on cars equipped with the z51 performance package like this one and you can set it in the infotainment system, you go into the settings and you can set the different options. the parts of the car respond when they are in z mode your steering your acceleration your suspension that sort of thing now another cool thing you can set in z mode is the brake response you can set how grip your brakes are on a screen in the system infotainment is crazy to me, but you can do it on a sport tour or on a track depending on how much brake you want.
Now you might be wondering what the difference is between z mode and my mode, your customizable driving mode, why would you want one and not the other? the idea is that my mode is something you are always in when driving the car, you have it set for when you ride or drive, any z mode is something you just tap the button on the steering wheel to enter. Immediately, when you find yourself on a fun canyon road or your favorite twisty spot, it's not something you'd want to be on all the time, maybe z mode is reserved for a little more performance and then talking from the gauge cluster you can see it's just a big screen no more analogue gauges here and it has some interesting quirks one is how it changes when you go out of drive mode now you're in normal mode or as they call it tour and you can see how it looks. pretty standard, you even get a fuel economy screen on the side when you switch to sport mode and things instantly get sportier, more aggressive, redder and it looks a little angrier and the fuel economy is replaced by a gauge g, but my favorite switches to track mode and look at it now, it's completely reconfigured for the things that matter most on the race track.
You can see on the side, you have all these different performance metrics that you might want to see at any time, that's pretty cool and it's one of the cool things that a gauge cluster display allows you to totally reconfigure things depending on the mode you're in. whichever one you are in and, by the way, another interesting thing that happens when you change the driving modes, your head-up display also changes. This car, like many new cars, has a head-up display that projects onto the windshield and gives you vital information. You can see it right now in normal mode.
It's pretty standard. Go to sport mode and you can see that it has become a little sportier. now it gives you more information about the performance, going into track mode and back into sportier mode to get more pertinent information on the head-up display. It's cool that not only does the gauge cluster change, but also the head-up display which is a neat touch and by the way, Another interesting item worth noting in the gauge cluster, if you simply find that there is too much information, too much technology and you want it to go away, you can just go to simplify and then the screen will simplify and then it won't.
Not having all this kind of stuff staring you in the face at all times, that could be a feature that maybe appeals to the more traditional demographic. of the Corvette, let's say you don't understand all this new technology and then another interesting element with the corvette comes in and out with the doors because they have electronic openings, this is very unusual in the automotive world, although the most corvette models Older ones also had this to enter from the outside, like you put your hand under this little curve and there's a little open the door, you push it and it opens electronically right now.
The interesting thing here is that this means you can't get into the car if the battery is dead because then the electronic gate won't work, except Chevy thought of that and there's a manual release, check this out, you enter this little vent area next to the door, you look up and you can see there is a keyhole there, then you can easily separate the key from the key ring and you have to try to fix it. to put it in there, but you can do it by turning it and then the door will open manually, kind of a hidden secondary release for the doors now, once you're in the car, in the same type of situation, you don't have a traditional door handle to to get out, you press this button and that electronically releases the door and you open it from there, but again, if the battery dies when you're in the car, you somehow need a manual release to get out and you have it in the space to the feet.
On both sides you have this little lever that you can pull to manually release the doors in case the battery is dead and the little door opener doesn't work and finally with this car I want to talk about pricing, it's been well covered. The car costs around sixty thousand dollars, which really is an incredible bargain for the money, but most cars don't cost sixty thousand dollars. This particular one has a sticker price of around eighty-five thousand dollars because it has so many options. Go over some of them now, if you upgrade from the base Corvette to the 2lt model which costs around 7 grand and adds a lot of features, you'll probably want to get the head-up display, get the wireless phone charger. heated and cooled seats satellite radio your programmable garage door system on your sun visor you also don't get navigation on the base model only if you upgrade to the 2lt now if you want to go further this car has the 3lt trim level which adds another five grand dollars with that you get these cool seats, they call them gt2 seats and they have a little more grip and are nicer than the normal seats and you also get a nicer finish, the 3lt is more aesthetic, you get better suede interior stitching. everything looks and feels a little better now adding 2lt and 3lt takes you to about 72k but as i mentioned this one has a sticker price of 85k one of the reasons is that this one has the z51 performance package which as I mention. it costs about five thousand dollars and then there are some other things also this car has the magnetic ride control suspension about nineteen hundred dollars the front axle lift is extra that's about fifteen hundred dollars you add a lot of these things and that's it how you get to 85 thousand dollars for a new corvette, but when you look at the numbers on paper it's still a good deal, those are the peculiarities and characteristics of the new 2020

chevy

corvette, the c8, now it's time to take it out on the road and see how it all drives.
Well, driving the C8. I've wanted to do this since it was announced, as has everyone, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity now. Well, first impression of the car as soon as you get in, it's actually quite spacious. I drive a lot of these mid-engined exotic cars, and more and more, they all tend to be quite spacious, there are a lot of tall people who buy these cars and the automakers know this, but this one, I would say, is unusual, so it has a lot of space. I'm sitting quite comfortably and I can actually move my seat back several inches further and I'm six foot three six foot four so if you're a tall person you can really feel like you can drive this car now for the first time.
What you notice when you start driving is that there is a very good throttle response, immediacy, eh, even if you don't have to downshift, even if you're just stepping on the accelerator, you want to get a little more speed in an instant, there's a good torque, but most importantly. it's just a quick response and I think a lot of consumers, even if a car is quick on paper, if they don't feel that when they first step on the accelerator they're going to be disappointed with how it feels and with this car that you don't have to worry about.
That certainly starts to work. One thing you notice right away when you start really driving is that the transmission is so smooth that everyone is switching to these dual clutch transmissions now, but this is clearly one of the smoothest. I'm in sport mode and you don't really feel the gear changes much, it doesn't hurt, there's no real shock from the transmission when shifting to the next gear, everything is very smooth and easy of course, the car obviously, very, very, very fast. accelerate, but to me I mean every car accelerates quickly now from 0 to 60 and 2.8 2.9, that's crazy, that's an amazing number, but everything in this world is in the low threes or whatever, the amazing thing for me is the transmission.
It's so smooth and so fast and it's really amazing, especially because this is the new corvette, we're not in a Huracán, we're not in a 488. This is a corvette, it's Chevy and it's only 60 grand 70, even this one is 80 more . Now, for me, there are pros and cons of the interior. In terms of quality, I really like it. I wasn't one of the people who thought the C7 had such a great interior when it came out. Everyone said this is a big improvement. I always thought it was okay but I think this car really is much better, there is virtually no plastic or cheap plastic here, that is partly because this is the 3lt model so we have stitching everywhere, we have leather on everywhere, nice finishes etc, but Overall this is really a nice interior for me.
This is the first Corvette with an interior that really matches the price and the type of world they are trying to reach. I love the square steering wheel. IM super. In that, I think it looks really cool, I love that any car that does it, you don't need to get used to it, just drive it like a normal steering wheel, but it looks cooler and has that racing lineage in its steering and handling. I try to evaluate most of the cars I film on the street, which is where 99 people will be driving them, so it's a little harder to get a sense of how hard it is to want to drive on some hills. maybe I'll do racetracks in the future with one of these, but overall it seems to handle pretty well.
I generally prefer mid-engined cars. I think that's the design that God intended sports cars to have, if you think about it from a weight distribution perspective, it makes more sense. I've owned a lot of front-end sports cars, but the ones that have really caught my attention are the mid-engined cars. It's better overall, it's hard not to be impressed. This car I mean from zero to sixty-two point something like that, this one costs 85 thousanddollars, but to me it's still a bargain at that number, especially when you compare it to rivals that are basically all exotic sports cars that now cost five times as much, obviously there's a lot.
Of reasons to buy those cars, Ferrari will always have a stronger brand than Corvette, same with Lambo and frankly to me, those cars have flashier looks and interiors, but this car costs a quarter of what those things cost I mean, it's an incredible deal. and that's the 2020 chevy corvette, this is the most anticipated car of the year and it lives up to the hype, it's not perfect but you can't argue with the sheer insanity, this is a mid-engine sports car that goes from 0 to 60 in less than three seconds like a mclaren or a ferrari or a lamborghini except this one starts at 60 grand this is huge and now it's time to give the new corvette a doug score and the doug score is here and the figure It's truly an incredible 68 out of 100, putting it above basically anything at its price and close to the McLaren 720, Ferrari 488, and Lamborghini Huracan.
However, the big news here is that the C8 actually ranks higher than the new Porsche 911 and why shouldn't it be the C8? It's faster, cheaper and right now much cooler the launch of the new 992 was ridiculously insignificant compared to the unreal interest in the new corvette, it's true that the 911 wins in the everyday categories because it has extra seats and higher quality, but the c8 has a higher weekend. score and the c8 also gets a 9 out of 10 for value which it deserves. I love German cars and in my world the corvettes don't beat the 911. That has changed a word of caution, although the c8 gets an 8 out of 10 for cool factor, but that number will probably decrease as these become much more common in the coming months.
