Here's Why the $2 Million McLaren P1 Is the Ultimate Modern McLaren

May 31, 2021
This is the McLaren P1 and it is the

modern

McLaren par excellence. The McLaren Senna is amazing, of course, but this is the king of the hill with prices approaching $2

million

. this is the most impressive road

mclaren

apart from the famous f1 and nowadays i am going to review it. I borrowed this p from Manny Koshbin, an entrepreneur

here

in Newport Beach in Orange County in Southern California. He has an incredible fleet of exotic cars. He also has a YouTube channel. The channel name is on the screen. You can subscribe by clicking the link in the description below and you should subscribe because Manny is always doing cool things with his amazing car collection.
here s why the 2 million mclaren p1 is the ultimate modern mclaren
Is incredible. Manny also recently launched a mentoring program called Manny Kashman Millionaire Mentoring and I'll link to that in the description as well. below and you can check it out, but let's go back to p1. Now the P1 went on sale in 2013 and was one of the holy trinity of supercars meant to rival the Ferrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. The p1 is the rarest of the three. with only 375 units manufactured and putting up truly incredible numbers, it has a twin-turbo V8 that generates 720 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque now that it is mated to an electric motor for more power and torque and the total power is 903 horsepower and 723 pound-feet are crazy numbers, but so is this car's performance: It'll go 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, top out at 217 miles per hour, and run the quarter mile in the low range. 10 seconds at around 150 miles per hour. time is crazy but you can also use your p1 to save the planet t

here

is an eco mode you turn it on and you can drive on purely electric power without any gas engine it only works for a few miles but you can do it in case you want to be greener and yes these things sell for a lot of money, current asking prices at auto dealers range from 1.4 to 2.2

million

dollars, and this one is particularly special because it is the only p1 with finish in matte carbon fiber, so anyway nowadays.

More Interesting Facts About,

here s why the 2 million mclaren p1 is the ultimate modern mclaren...

I'll take you on a tour of the p1 and show you all of its cool quirks and features, then I'll take it out on the road, drive it, and then give it a dug score, alright. I'm going to start with the quirks and features of the p1 as you get in and that means we need to start with the key now when you buy a car like this they don't just give you a key like you get when you buy your car, instead you get this Nice silver box with carbon fiber on the front and it says P1, you open it and you have two keys beautifully displayed like jewelry inside this soft shell with orange velvet on the inside of the lid.
here s why the 2 million mclaren p1 is the ultimate modern mclaren
You also have a small USB stick which I assume includes photos of the car or track times or I'm not entirely sure but either way this is how the keys are presented on a p1, you take the key out and then you can get in but before As you walk up to your p1, you run into a bit of a problem because there's no immediately obvious door handle on the outside of this door, there's nowhere you can grab to open it, well, it turns out you walk up to p1, you look. inside this hole which is actually an air intake and there are two buttons hidden there, the right button, you press it and it locks the car, so that's what you press if you want to drive away and lock your p1, the the left. you push it and it will unlock the car and also open the door slightly, so if you push it the door will go to this position, but then it's up to you to get under here where your hand can grab and open.
here s why the 2 million mclaren p1 is the ultimate modern mclaren
It lifts the door, which is surprisingly heavy, and then swings upward like a supercar door should. Now, once you have the door in this position, there are a couple of interesting elements worth discussing, the most notable being this little white strip that goes around the entire interior. on the door you can see this stripe that says mso, which means

mclaren

special operations, they will custom make your p1 to your exact case. I've seen a lot of custom options and features but I've never seen the The inside of the door is painted with a white stripe, however I have to admit it's a cool touch and it's nice to have on a car where the door opens and attracts a lot of attention.
Why is white probably thinking right? The car used to be white, obviously not anymore. We'll cover that in a few minutes and another interesting element that is revealed with the door open. You can see that there are two buttons mounted at the base of the door with that type of face. When the door is in this position, one of those buttons is to put the car in tow mode so it can be towed safely and the other button opens the trunk and since I'm talking about the trunk button, you might as well get in and See what the trunk is all about now, when you press the trunk button it puts it in this position.
You can see it lifts up from the rest of the body and you go to open it and you'll notice there's no latch. in the front, like basically every other car with a front trunk, so how do you open the trunk properly? It turns out you stick your hand in this nostril on the front and there's a little button hidden there, you press it pretty hard and it releases. the trunk and then you open it and this is how to open the trunk on a mclaren p1 and now that we are in the cargo compartment, here are a couple of interesting elements that are worth highlighting, one can see that it is completely lined in fiber carbon, which obviously saves weight but also gives it a very attractive look, there are not many cars.
The cargo compartment lining looks like this. Another interesting thing you'll notice here is that the cargo compartment is a reasonable size; It's about the same size as the cargo area in the latest Audi R8. It's not huge, of course, but it's a lot bigger than you'd expect in a million-dollar-plus supercar, which is usually very, very little. practical. This one isn't so bad. Next is another interesting element in the cargo compartment that you can see there. There's a little yellow sticker on there that's a warning to emergency personnel because this car has an electric motor and it also tells emergency personnel what to do to prevent fires from spreading, like if they ever found that sticker on the car is found. on fire then they go to that little button on the door they open the trunk they find the little button in the nostril they open it and then they look at that label and say oh that's what we're supposed to do it looks a little ridiculous Another interesting item you can see while the front trunk lid is up is the windshield wiper assembly on this car.
This wiper arm is absolutely huge. There is only one windshield wiper on this car. Presumably there is a huge arm, so the wiper stays down and can still move. usable at really high speeds and next we move on to the interior of the p1 and I'll start with one of the first things you notice inside when you first open the door and that would be this little badge. to the left of the driver's foot on the door sill it says mclaren p1 and then it says mk edition for manny koshbin, the owner of this car, that's way cooler than saying like one of 375, your own special edition, something to what to aspire to.
Now, interestingly, this plaque that reminds you how cool you are is actually covered when the door is closed. It's something strange. Many cars mount plates like this right in the middle of the interior. This thing you can't even see the license plate when you're driving now. The next thing you notice when you get into this car are the seats and particularly how tight they are. I'm not a huge person, but these seats really hug you, obviously the point is that they hug you. to keep you in place when you're on the race track taking turns so you don't slip, but they are really very tight seats and they can't be adjusted at all except to go forward or backward, that's it, now, next one.
What you notice when you sit in the p1 is the fact that there are windows above you, this car does not have a traditional sunroof and they never made a p1 roadster or convertible with a convertible top, but this is the closest thing you can get and This is kind of a cool specialty of McLaren and it has been evolving. The 720 has the same glass panels but they integrated them into the doors and then the Senna has those door panels and they also added additional glass panels to the bottom of the doors so McLaren is doing interesting things with the interior glass of the cabin, but in this car they are fixed in place on the roof, sort of the double pane sunroof on the mclaren p1, i never knew that and then we move on to other interesting interior quirks and features of the p1.
The most surprising thing about this interior is the fact that this car has three cup holders. I'm serious, there are two under the infotainment screen, like under the dashboard, and then there's another one between the seats, so your McLaren supercar costs $1 million and 900 horsepower. It has three cupholders for two seats, which is impressive, but the practical situation pretty much ends there because there aren't many other useful practical items in this interior - for example, there's really no interior storage next to the cupholder between the seats. small compartment same thing next to those cup holders under the dash a small compartment in there but there is no glove box no storage space in the door panels there really is no storage space inside the p1 all you get is what's in it the front trunk, the next one is another interesting element on the p1 are the air vents which are actually quite well thought out.
You have two on the driver's side of the dash that point toward the driver and then you have two more on the passenger side that point toward the passenger, so there's no sharing of weather events, no complaints about airflow in the dashboard vent. There are dedicated vents for both the driver and passenger, which is cool and also pretty impressive. McLaren was able to fit all those vents into the dash without mounting any on the door panel like I sometimes see on supercars, but there are some interesting elements on the door panel that are worth mentioning, specifically close the driver's door and you can see that there are two switches on the door panel, one of them is the mirror control, you toggle it and you can move the power.
Mirrors placed on the door panel are quite common, but the other one is the headlight switch. You can use that dial to turn on the headlights, fog lights, parking lights, which is unusual, it's usually on the dash to the left or right of the steering wheel, but in this car they just didn't have enough room, so you have those two switches stuck on the door panel or you normally wouldn't expect them. The other interesting element on the door panel is of course the door opening mechanism on it. car is this little latch that you lift and it opens the door electronically and then from there it's up to you and it's actually a little complicated, the door on this car is quite heavy and you're fighting the hydraulic system that wants to keep it in place. place and making sure it doesn't fall out, it's a job pushing the door open, especially from a sitting position in this car, one of the heaviest supercar doors I've ever felt in my life.
Now, next, we move on. To some of the other interesting buttons and switches on the p1, I want to start at the top of the center control console, where you have the engine start/stop button front and center. You press it, obviously, to start and stop the engine now on the right. on that button you have something marked e mode and it's green if you press it and the car has some electrical charge it will go into e mode it turns off the gasoline engine and you can drive on purely electric power now when you do this it's not really that fast it just has a few 200 horsepower and it only goes about 100 miles per hour and you can only do it for about five or ten miles, but it's there in case you want to electrically drive your supercar, also to the right of the remote has a button with the Charge label, if you press it, the gasoline powertrain will charge the electric powertrain in case you want to boost your electric so you can go back to electronic mode later and now, then go down and get into the center console between the seats . you have a few buttons down here and they are self explanatory the most obvious are d n and r drive in neutral and reverse those of course are your gears you will notice there is no p for park to put the car in park you put it in . it's in neutral and then you pull this parking brake lever in front of these buttons and then it stops it's not going anywhere and you can turn it off from there your other buttons here are pretty obvious the hazard lights the front trunk button a Again and you also have the power locks, nothing particularly unusual here.
Next, we move on from those console buttonscenter to some more interesting dials on the center control console, starting with these middle-mounted switches. You can see one that says p and one says h the p is for the powertrain and when you adjust it it changes the acceleration characteristics of the car h is for the handling it will change the suspension and the steering and you can see that those dials have three different options n s and t which It means normal sport or track, you have to know the codes to be able to use this car.
The interesting thing is that you can't just turn those dials and put them in sport and normal track, but first you have to press this active button and then you can change the dials to whatever mode you want to go in, it means you have to confirm that you really want to do that change now, next, maybe more interesting than those dials just below them, you have three buttons, the button on the left is marked. Launch which is obviously the launch control feature of this car. In the middle you have a button marked race, which is quite interesting when you put this car on.
In race mode, it automatically descends, so it is very, very tight on the ground and lifts the wing up and back for better downforce and you can see that happening right now, the car goes down a lot more, the wing goes up and changes the overall profile of the car to make it better for track driving and more downforce keeps it lower, with more grip and better in the corners now, if you press race again the car will come out of race mode, the rear wing at the rear will pull back towards the body to make the car more slippery like you would want if you were just driving on normal streets and, As you can see, the car is also raised to a more reasonable position in order to eliminate normal road hazards in race mode.
It's so low that it couldn't clear anything, it's pretty much only suitable for the race track. Now the last button in that group of three is marked boost and if you press it, it activates the ipass system which stands for integrated power assist. and basically what that means is you have boost on and then you can use this button on the steering wheel marked ipass, you press that and the car will automatically give you a little bit of its electrical power to give you better acceleration when you step on the accelerator, basically, it gives you an extra electrical boost with the push of a button when you press boost and when you press ipass on the steering wheel, that's cool now, it's worth noting that when you look at the steering wheel you'll notice that ipass is not the only button on the other On the other hand, there is a blue button marked DRS and that stands for drag reduction system and when you press it it allows you to change the position of the rear wing in case you want to reduce your drag.
You want to make the car more aerodynamic and thus go even faster, but let's go back to the middle for a second. I want to go over the last item in the central control specification and that would be the infotainment system. You'll notice here that it's organized. vertically like a smartphone rather than horizontally like most other infotainment systems, and you will also notice that if you play with this system you will find that it is quite slow, not as fast and not as up to date and

modern

, full of features like the Infotainment systems in many other cars.
However, it's worth noting that this car came out in 2013, so it's now six years old, and actually for a six-year-old car it's a pretty good system, but by modern standards it's starting to work. shows its age now. Next, talking about the infotainment system, there are some interesting quirks and features worth highlighting with the infotainment system. My favorite is, as I mentioned, all the mclarens. If you pull up the climate controls, the screen that allows you to direct the airflow doesn't just show a person sitting there, it shows a person in a helmet sitting there, which I love.
It's just a climate control screen. They could have gone with one person, but they put his helmet there. It's a great detail for a race. and a track oriented car, it's fantastic. The next interesting announcement in the infotainment system is the volume control that you can see when you turn the volume control. There are many different volume levels. Some cars, like 1 to 10 or 1 to 20, this is one. through a hundred in case you're ever at volume level 64 and you think I want to go down but not to 62. I'm glad there's a 63 setting right there in the middle for a perfect volume experience and Next , speaking of this sound system, it is worth noting that this car has a Meridian sound system which I am sure is excellent, valuable and luxurious, and if you go into the system settings, it allows you to configure how you want the sound to be delivered to you. sound.
You can choose between pure expanded or extreme in case you want an extreme sound from your mclaren p1 sound system and next we move on to the steering wheel gauge cluster area and there is a lot to cover here, starting with the fact that it protrudes from the steering wheel. The column on the right is the original cruise control. Yes, that's right on your 2 million 900 horsepower ultra high performance supercar. You have cruise control which I guess is a nice luxury if you plan on taking your p1 on a road trip and there are a few others surprisingly.
Well thought out elements within the gauge cluster that you wouldn't think a supercar would have, for example you can adjust the sensitivity of the automatic wipers and it's not just high or low, there are five different sensitivity settings you can choose from . It's very unusual, you don't see that in Kias or Lexuses, let alone a million dollar supercar, other interesting items in the gauge cluster. One thing I really like is the fact that it not only shows tire pressure, but also shows tire temperatures like a real supercar, this is much more useful than tire pressure, if you are on the track racing, you want to know if your tires are hot, if they're too hot, and this car shows you from inside the cabin that's a really good idea and then another interesting thing in the gauge cluster, if you keep scrolling through the menus and information screens, you will eventually find fuel economy which is a surprise, many supercars don't bother to display that but this one does and you can see it.
Over the last 180 miles, this car got 6.4 miles per gallon, so I guess having that little electric motor doesn't do much for your efficiency if you go pretty crazy every time you drive this car and have a lot of fun with it. Now, the next really interesting feature of the gauge cluster is what happens when you try to enter race mode. I already showed you what happens on the outside of the car, but look at this, you press race and a little screen appears. warning you about the dangers of race mode, you should then press and hold race again to confirm that yes, you really want to enter race mode once you have done so, the gauge cluster display shows in real time what is happening with the car.
When you go into race mode it shows how many millimeters it's going down, it shows the position of the wing as it changes and it tells you how many seconds are left until it reaches full race mode and then you're there and then that screen disappears now if you take it out of race mode , exactly the same thing happens minus that scary screen that tells you that you are going to die, basically the car shows you once again exactly how many millimeters it is raising, shows you the position of the spoiler once again in real time and shows you precisely how many seconds they remain until you exit race mode and return to your normal street driving situation, other than the gauge cluster display itself isn't particularly interesting, it doesn't rotate like the modern mclaren, it's not incredibly configurable when you're in mode no racing it just has this pretty standard screen nothing particularly unusual when you go into racing mode the screen changes to this you can see it highlights the gear you're in rather than the speed you're going. but nothing particularly special or unusual or crazy about this gauge cluster again this is six year old technology and all these crazy modern gauge clusters have evolved from here and next we move outside of the mclaren p and there are a lot of interesting quirks. and features here, but I want to start with my favorite thing, probably my favorite thing about this entire car, and that would be the brake lights.
A Bugatti Veyron has brake lights. You can see they are there. A Pagani Wira has brake lights. Again you can see they are there, very simple, like basically every other car, a mclaren p1 doesn't have brake lights, it's styled here and it's very clear that what mclaren did was they decided to design the car exactly how they wanted it and then you find out how to integrate the brake lights and so the brake lights are just these little thin strips of light that surround this rear grille perfectly integrated into the exact rear styling of the car and you can see that the turn signals are also integrated into that.
In the same vein, I think this is one of the best brake light designs of all time, rather than just turning on the brake lights and limiting the effectiveness of this rear grille. McLaren made the brake lights to fit their car and it's just a fantastic way to do it. I also like the fact that if you look closely you can see that the brake lights are brightest on the outer edges and then dim as they get closer to the center of the car before going completely dark. cool effect and really some of the best brake lights and turn signals ever seen on any car and speaking of brake lights, now I want to move on to the roof socket, now the roof socket is mounted on the top of the car, right above the passenger compartment and all the cooler mclarens have it the f1 has it the senna has it you can get it as an option if you spend a lot of money on other mclarens and all the p1s have it too obviously take in air from the outside world as you are driving and it sends it to the engine compartment, the reason I associate it with the brake lights is because the roof intake has this really cool set up here where it starts out as a roof intake but then tapers towards the third brake light.
Again, another great example that yes, we have to put a brake light there, but we don't have to put one and make it look ugly. They did a fantastic job on that third brake light. Now, next to the third brake light, you have a pair. interesting panels at first glance, you look at those panels and probably think they're nothing really special, they're probably just part of the cover over the engine compartment, but in fact they are special if you push down on the panel on the passenger side of the car. It will open and reveal the charging port because you have to charge the electric motor separately.
If you want electric power when you drive your p1, you'll also notice that next to that charging port is an oil cap and indeed there is. how do you add oil to your p1 if you ever run out of oil you want to add some just open this charging port door unscrew the cap and that's where you add oil now on the other side of the third brake light, The panel there also opens, you push down, it opens and reveals two different places where you can put things. The most obvious one looks familiar. This is how you put fuel in the mclaren p1.
You go to the gas station you put the fuel pump there and that's what you do the other cap there sharing that compartment with the fuel door it's coolant if you want to add coolant to your p1 if it starts to overheat that's where you put it now , you might be wondering why they put those fluid caps inside these panels the oil and coolant why didn't they just put them in the engine bay and the reason is because the engine cover on the p1 is fixed in place? At home you can't open it and that means you can't walk in and stare at the engine of your p1 after paying a million or two million dollars for one.
It's repaired. The only way to see it is through this glass, but you can't see the rest of the interesting things about the engine. your p1 though, I'm absolutely sure it's there because well this car sounds like it has a great engine, you hear a start and then a couple of revs and while we're back, another element I love here is related to the wings. You can see that the wing has all these bits and pieces that make it move, tilt and slide and McLaren didn't bother to cover any of that. There's no point in trying to hide it.
Everything is functional. Back there you want to save everything you can. weight as possible and therefore looks very mechanical very exposed but also looks really cool. I like the fact that they didn't bother trying to hide or cover up any of it and I'm finally moving on to two others. interesting stuffon p1 starting with the color. I mentioned before that this particular car used to be white and as you can see now it's not, it's this exposed matte carbon fiber. I'm going to ask Manny, the owner of the car, to explain why. I decided to make that change in a few minutes, but first you might be thinking how exactly do you change the color of a car like this.
The answer is that it's actually simpler than you think because this car only has five actual main body parts. the front clam the rear clam the two doors and then this piece over the front storage compartment and if you want to change the color you can do that although you don't want Jim's body shop down the street unscrewing the panels on your mclaren p1 now the other one really interesting thing about the p1 is what you get when you buy a p1 you spend over a million dollars on a supercar you didn't think they were just giving you a supercar no, in fact there's more to it than that There are quite a few interesting little p1 gadgets that come along with it the car, starting with this color sample, as I mentioned, the car used to be white, this was the color it initially was.
McLaren will send these color samples to owners so they can see, okay, yes. This is the color my car will be and you can also see it in the shape of the car, so you can hold it up to several different lights and see theoretically what it will look like and that wasn't the only extra detail. that you got when you bought a p1, there was more to it than that, you see the owners of these cars ordered them and then had to wait years for delivery, so mclaren wanted to help them by sending them some cool p1 stuff while they waited and a good example is this car model.
People who bought a new p1 were sent this car model to help keep them interested and remind them that yes, the real thing will be available soon. I really like to see that you also received this book and I can see that the book goes through the production, the creation, the history of the mclaren p1 and it is signed by some of the designers, the engineers of the car, which is a kind of p1 book again , it is intended to be a special gift to keep p1 owners busy while they wait, and another interesting p1 gift that you get when you buy one is inside this leather wallet, you open it and there is a letter to mclaren thanking him for choosing a p1 ever You will regret your decision the more special car blah blah blah but there is also this little silver piece the size of a credit card that tells you what serial number your p1 is on the production line.
Not at all funny with the production numbers here, each one is individually numbered, although only if you keep your little silver credit card with your p1 like this, those are the quirks and features of the mclaren p1 and now is the time to get it. I hit the road, but first I want to talk to the owner of the car, Manny Cashman, Manny, thanks for having me, we're in an amazing space here, it's a pleasure, this is really an amazing space with some really amazing cars, what do you think? ? this one specifically, how do you enjoy it?
Oh well, I've said it over and over again for some of your viewers who watch me in my YouTube videos. This is my favorite driving machine, really smooth and that's a huge compliment because we're sitting next. to a senna and bugattis and yes, and this is the

ultimate

best driving in career mode, it's like the perfect balance between reckless type of driving, right behind, like right, your palms have started to swing and you can take it to the limit and so you know the turbos kick in and then you can press the button on your ipad, that gives you an instant, you know, the electric motors kick in and they just make you happy, you don't worry about driving it hard, it doesn't scare you to death.
Not yours, you know it, you know it, but you know that's the fun part of life and having these cars, you know if you're going to drive them in automatic mode and drive them like a grandma, you know what the point is. from having it, now you say it's your favorite ride every time we're standing right next to it, you know the newest, so you think about the p1 even more, even more than the seine, absolutely even though it weighs 400 pounds. I think it's 400 pounds heavier. I think it is the technology that has been incorporated. You know, the electric motors with the iPad button and it's just the way it's made.
Computer. You know, control the electric motor with the gasoline engine. There is almost no delay. Yeah. I'll experience it, you know, when you drive it, yeah, it's like instant power all the time and the handling is totally different than this car. This car feels really heavy because of the downforce, but this one wants to fly, you know? The best part about this car, if you run out of gas, there is a way you know you can save the environment and as you drive towards yourself, unlike the bugatti, you know I ran out of gas in my bugatti mansuri and well , I had so many fans stop by but I had to call Triple H.
What happens when Triple A comes? When you run out of gas, if you have it, no, nothing good comes of it because it only has 87 octane and that car takes one hundredth. Did you ever consider getting gas before that when you saw the gas gauge going down or did you just? You know I was trying to get that last straw right, that bad choice, sculpted full carbon fiber, yeah. The body of this car and there's a story behind it, yes, originally this car was Alaska Diamond White, it was the whitest white they had and they hadn't bleached all the leather interior to make it as white as possible, so I I love the white, but Originally I obviously went with full carbon fiber, but they said, Wow, sorry, that's not an option, but when it becomes an option, we'll let you know, so a year later they called me and They told me they were going to make 25 carbon fiber bodies. edits here's the price I said, sign me up, sign me up, send me stuff, the wiring instructions, so how does it work?
What is the process? They send the panels and your local mclaren dealer does the work or you had to return the car. Oh no. The car returns to mso mclaren special ops they remove all five cl uh clam shells and it's a new body how long did it take? Yeah, for this, for that process, sending it there, I think it was about six or eight months. You saw? you had a 19 you said yes so you stayed with this one and not the 918 no the 918 is heavier and for me it was too computerized you know, interesting, I drove it, it didn't make my palms sweat although it is interesting, interesting , sexy, it's faster. than this car because of the four-wheel drive, but it felt more, it felt less crazy, yeah, it wasn't giving me the thrill interesting, yeah, interesting, yeah, you know, after driving all these cars, you know that You always want to do it, you know.
You're drawn to the one you know excites you just when you want to push it to the left, okay, okay, are you ready to drive this? Yes, let's do it, are you afraid? um no I know you have a lot of followers which means you make a lot of money so I can replace it you crashed I didn't buy it well I'm scared I'm even more scared now okay driving the p1 here we are you really don't have afraid, yes, I am. If you look at the interior, I mean this is a really cool place to spend time and there are some similarities to other McLaren interiors, but there are also some pretty substantial differences, there are buttons that others don't have, but that's the point. but yeah you can feel every bump in the lane, oh my god that was at half throttle, oh yeah I know you're just warming up the tires, the steering precision is really impressive, even just taking those little corners, it which is interesting because this is not new. car, you know I normally associate more precise steering with the newest things on the market, but obviously this was very well developed, you know, when it came out, sir, can I see your insurance?
I think he'll take it easy. I'm just kidding, wow, that's so serious, you know what's crazy, I totally agree with you versus 918 918 is amazing and feels that fast, but this is the sound, it's how visceral you are, it just gives you You feel like you're in for something crazier. here it seems to feel crazier even compared to the ferrari, this is definitely more raw. I agree with you on the way the Sena feels heavier, there's no doubt this car feels like it accelerates faster which is Jesus you know it's red yeah but I. I thought we had good breaks, you know?
And actually, look at that boom, crazy. Well, it's always scary for everyone in the passenger seat. How often do you ride in the passenger seat? The funny thing is that when you sit at a traffic light, it's actually quite tame, you can hear the engine a little bit, but it's not like an old 80s thing like the F40, where it's like you know there's a lot going on, like The Sena will vibrate so much that the windows shake, it feels like a racing car. I don't carry on a conversation, but this is, uh, yeah, this is one that really is like one of those sleeper cars.
There's not a lot of interest, you know, which is a surprise, I mean, the McLaren one, yeah, this car doesn't look dramatically different from a lot of others. of the other mclarens mclarens are becoming a lot more common and so there's a lot less interest I'm sure, but even like this guy, you know, you think people would be like whoa, what is this thing? No, that's what I'm telling you. It was in Bugatti's domain with carbon and gold. People are going to take out their phones. Yeah, this one's not that interesting, it's reasonably civilized, it feels very stable, it feels like that, now it's bumpy, although if you think about this.
It's quiet, wait until it feels like a normal car, yes, because you only have 200 horsepower, right, yes, I mean, the ride is hard, you feel every bump quite significantly, it's a very stable car, but they are definitely absolutely pushing you. Never forget you're in a supercar in this thing. Wow, my god, the speed he reaches is so incredibly fast. You just said it's like a Ducati. It's a great analogy. This car feels, sounds more like a super sports bike. bike than anything else I've ever driven before, it's so quick to change speed and direction and all that, that's amazing, and that's the mclaren p1, this really is the

ultimate

modern mclaren and one of the best super cars ever manufactured.
In terms of price, performance, style, driving experience and rarity, there are two and a half times more 918 Spiders than P1s. This really is a tremendously special car and I'm delighted to have finally had the opportunity to review it and now it's time to give. The p1 a doug scores starting with the weekend and design categories, the p1 looks good even but the styling is too similar to other mclaren models considering how special it is supposed to be, it gets an 8 out of 10. Acceleration is 0-60 in like 2.7 seconds and it gets a 10 out of 10. The handling is incredibly precise and it easily gets a 10 out of 10.
The fun factor is crazy, really incredibly exciting and it gets a 10 out of 10. Finally, a cool factor and this one is obvious. It's one of the coolest modern cars and gets a 10 out of 10 for a total weekend score of 48 out of 50. Next up are the daily categories and features, the p1 is about average for cars like this and gets a 6 out of 10. Comfort, the p1 is pretty rough around the edges, but it's also pretty average for cars like this and gets a 3 out of 10. Quality is decent, although I would worry long term about the reliability of a million dollar British plug-in hybrid supercar. of dollars but it is clearly well made and gets a 7 out of 10. practicality is ridiculous and gets a 1 out of 10. finally value and this one is tough, they sell for over 918 spider which makes sense because there are a lot less p1 , but I feel that McLaren has not yet proven itself as a road car brand.
To fully accept it as a 2 million dollar car, I give it a 6 out of 10, but that could increase in the future, giving us an overall daily score of 23 out of 50. Add it up and Doug's score is 71 out of 100 , which puts it here against the best hypercars and supercars, it loses to the ferrari and the 918 spider by one point, the ferrari wins by one point in style the 918 spider wins by one point in quality but I really think the p1 is probably the most exciting of the three to drive. well a bugatti veyron has brake lights you can see they are there a pugani a pugani
