Her Bohemian Camper Van Tiny House - Solo Female Van Life On The Road
Jun 01, 2021hi my name is brenda i am a ranger and we live in this 2012 ford e350 truck called copper ok welcome inside copper i wanted to start at the front here so i chose to put a wall between the
house
area and the the cabin area just to give you a sense of separation make sure when you come back to thehouse
you feel like you are in a house not a car but this is a pocket door that slides into the cabin and we made it in a nice little archway entrance also just for a little cuteness down here we have shoe storage for you to open up and then you probably have seven pairs of shoes that slide under the passenger seat so i just take advantage of all that space underneath here is where i keep all my clothes as you can see i have loads of clothes more than i possibly need there is a cape here is a cape behind it too which also has summer clothes winter clothes formal dresses in case decide to sneak into a wedding bathing suits scarves all i need and then here is another er cabinet for more clothes i just have little touch lights in there tank tops hats socks etc so here for safety , I wanted to show you that I have a fire extinguisher or a fire alarm and a carbon monoxide detector in there and my fire extinguisher is hidden behind this curtain so all these safety precautions are hidden.I actually use this table as my office because I have a traditional nine to five job, so I just sit in the hammock and have my little desk set up there. this is where i keep all my toiletries and bathroom supplies so this is basically my bathroom i take out when i need to use it morning and night this is where i keep my makeup and jewelry so everything safe in there and i have a hole specifically for all my coffee beans and pouring equipment and stuff so i tried to incorporate as much copper into the truck as possible because i named it copper after my favorite dog character from the fox and the hound , but I was literal with copper here and the knobs on the curtain rod here it was so much fun learning how to use copper and work with it and solder it and everything my dad helped teach me and then up here is where I have all my groceries stored and again a nice little night light so welcome to the kitchen this is a slightly unique factor in my truck i think i heard having the kitchen in an L shape is a little weird i decided to put the sink in ro in the corner just to make the most of the counter space here so I have two surfaces for cooking or for the bathroom I have a toaster oven here that is 110 volts so it actually draws a lot of power I just use it during the day but i can heat up leftovers make toasties i actually baked a cake i burned a cake on it a couple weeks ago and then down here is my portable toilet so i just have a standard rv type camping toilet here just the number one and then this cabinet is where i keep my trash it's also where i can access my 30 gallon water tank to see how full or empty everything is down here and then i chose a 110 volt fridge it takes quite a bit of power as well , I'm learning to work on that but I wanted just the basic fridge rather than investing in the 12 volt right away so that's ok so I chose to go with a large faucet here a more traditional faucet that has e the extendable arm, it also swings out and i can use it outside for a shower or dog wash or i had to rinse the ranger the other day.
I have a very deep sink here. I did the bottom mount option. accessories i wanted to mention how i keep everything on the counter because all of this stays on the counter when i drive and i haven't had a problem with it tipping over so i have the velcro straps under each bottle and then i don't know if you can see but here there is a fishing wire that is attached to the command hooks under the shelf so that the plant and both bottles are attached with that it is attached with velcro so it works great.
I haven't had any problems. I also have an outlet here if I ever want to plug something in there I originally plan to. i put a coffee pot in there but decided to go with the pour over option instead so that's just covered up and camouflaged so down the hall here i have some storage for my pots and pans also the butane stove i use for cooking all i have i have a bed tray i have loads of storage in these two baskets and then we made a custom house for a ranger in the hallway here so that's where the house arch door idea started but he has his own little house here that when I need to leave him in the van to go shopping or on a hike that he may not be allowed in, I secure him there and then the sounds don't bother him as much from coming outside the truck as a later fit to the truck after living in it a couple of months A few months I realized that while I can sleep on my side in the truck comfortably on the weekends, I really like to stretch out like a truck a Superman pose, so I decided to extend the bed like this. bed here so it comes out I can put a pillow here and then sleep a lot whenever I want and remove this too and so all this space becomes part of the bed and it's multifunctional because I take it out and put it here and put some cling material on it and so the ranger can access the bed very, very easily, he can just hop from the floor up here onto the bed without hurting his precious little knees so the multifunctional option here slides right back and you just never know it's There my dad and I built this whole truck ourselves, luckily he works for a body shop so we had access to the facility to work and had multiple lifts to get up and down when we needed to.
It took us about I think 42 days, to be precise, to do the entire conversion from start to finish. I documented it all on my Instagram so you can watch it again if you feel like it, but that was even while we were working full time, he and I were working. full time, so a lot of those days were only three or four hours. We passed through my father. I didn't have rangers for the first month because I was staying at my dad's house so we also had that timeline that if as soon as I could live in the van I could go pick up rangers so that definitely sped it up as well but yeah I'm pretty proud of 42 days of making my dream home and I'm incredibly happy with everything okay welcome to the bedroom area so this is my uh where I sleep it's also where I rest it's very polyvalent. which i'll show you all about but i chose to forego cabinets around the entire overhead area mainly because i don't want a lot of stuff in my van and the more storage you have the more stuff you accumulate so i opted for shelves again the copper wire , lots of terracotta plots, potted plants because I love plants and greenery so even if I'm in the city I still have some nature with me and my favorite feature in the van which is where I invested a significant amount of money to splurge was the skylight here it's actually a marine skylight hatch so it opens 90 degrees and i can jump out and sit on the roof whenever i want to watch the sunsets it brings a really good airflow from the skylight to the vent in the front i see stars on my bed almost every night from it so i love this feature so i chose to go with a japanese sleeping mat rmir, it's a three inch thick mat instead of having a full mattress that you would have to trim or customize so it's actually long enough to roll up. a little on this side and it gives a little bit of cline input for my head area i also have my power system monitors in here so i can always check my solar and battery charge in here and some storage for lotions of lipsticks etc and then obviously you always need to have a little bit of security, so I got my Taser handy just in case, but it was important to me in the van to make sure it was really, really cozy, felt homey, felt comfortable, so which i made it smaller and more confined to the bed space and made sure i have good mood lighting so i have copper leds here behind the plants and then i have some twinkle lights as well and then i have this little lantern loaded with solar power i use when i'm relaxing in bed too so i'm one of the few van
life
rs i know who has a traditional nine to five job that is technically sedentary in portland but since we've been working from home lately this its my house so i am working from there i just have my laptop i use my verizon service as hotspot i have extended m and the service comes with 15 gigs of hotspots that so I bumped that up to 30 gig hotspots a month and I've had more than enough capacities to work and also watch Netflix in bed at night when I want to so it's been really convenient when I have meetings I take them on my cell phone instead of my laptop because then I don't have to use my hotspot I just use my unlimited data on my cell phone so I haven't had any problems and it's been working really really great I always have to make sure from being parked somewhere where I have at least two bars of Verizon service for my internet to be fast enough to work productively, so in the driveway of the truck we have my water fill area. so i just remove this little piece of wood and pull down the hose here and i have the hose at the back of the garage that i hook up here is also the overfill spout so if i ever overfill it just drains down the side and then set up an outdoor table on it.Also, that's on a little chain that I sit at and have my coffee or wine and watch the sunset, so that's a nice little addition. However, I will let you know that these little rugs are great for wiping your feet and not that comfortable to sit on. they are super rough so keep that in mind ok and on this wall i installed three different hooks for all the ranger gear. I have your straps. attached to this hook and he can only go the 30ft on the leash which is really convenient because he happens to be a runner so keeping him strapped to the truck is really nice.
I put the switch for the kitchen lights right here so I always go in if it's dark outside I want to make sure I can turn the light on real quick from the outside so this will control the kitchen lights I have an outlet here in case you want hang out in my front yard ok this is my garage or where i have a lot of orange st i dont like extreme adventures so most of my gear is just walking gear lots of walking shoes i bring a hammock to everywhere i go on all my walks i have a lot of showering gear which is funny because i dont really have it i shower often but this drawer is for all my shower curtains so i have the option to use magnets and put a curtain bathroom between the back doors.
I also have a bath mat, a bamboo bath mat and then I have a small wading pool here I think it's actually intended for a dog bathing pool but that's what I use for indoor showering so what it holds i think five gallons in a little wading pool and then i hang shower curtains around it in a circle and i have a sun shower bag and a little makeshift shower with weed sprayer too so i can do that when im in remote places. This again is more hiking gear. I have an inflatable float tube if I ever go out on a lake. and then i have all my campfire equipment this is just extra co Top equipment you'll see i actually have extra tiles here extra curtains etc. from the recovery kit so I have toe straps, ratchet straps, I also have max recovery tracks under the truck, just in case I get stuck off
road
ing, I have my heater, I have my vacuum, just that i actually have a piano i have a keyboard in the back here um i haven't gotten out yet but i was looking forward to the vanlife
i would have no neighbors to interrupt playing piano so i plan on taking that out in the desert here and getting fit and at this door we have all my equipment to fill the water tank so i have an extra rv filter i have yet to use because i already have two filters in the van and then my hose i have puzzles and games one air horn just in case safety first and then this is the special trick my dad came up with so we originally came up with this idea so he could fit a bike in the van if ever I'd like to take one on an adventure, but reallyit works like turning my bed into a sofa or lounge mode so let me show you if you just lift this up and pull this leg out it makes this whole space foldable into a 90 degree angle because we have a piano hinge on it so that a bike fits here if i ever choose to do that but more than ever i just put this in lounge mode in couch mode and sit there.I also have a projector so I can watch movies from bed and it's again one of my favorite features I have so many and I installed the touch lights here as well so that when you're in the garage and need to check things you have light available if this video is resonating with you on all this lifestyle this dream that has changed my life i highly recommend you keep watching videos listen to podcasts follow people on instagram learn as much as you can i was learning about this for three years before i finally got around to it so i think it's very important to learn a lot and then just do it like take the leap buy a van throw a mattress on it if you want to start living in it for a while before you do too much of the conversion because it's amazing how differently you use the space than you think what you gonna do um but yeah dive in like what's the worst that could happen you own a truck then you sell it and that's the worst thing you ue could be if you are interested in following my adventures and journey and all the ups and downs that this lifestyle brings feel free to follow me on instagram i am the way through my eyes on instagram and i also have a blog linked there that i will be sharing good stories , mean and funny about my name brenda thanks for watching ok that concludes our van tour thanks so much for watching and we hope to see you on the
