GTA 6 was HUGE, but it's NOT ANYMORE.. Here's Why!
Jul 07, 2023When it comes to Rockstar Games, one of their most consistent things is their tendency to expand, whether it's the jump from GTA 2D games into the 3D era or how massive GTA San Andreas was compared to everything before it, we can always see that this The company is very serious about expansion, fortunately this also applies to Grand Theft Auto 6 and t

is no doubt that its map will be larger than anything we have seen so far, however, something that not everyone knows is that the GTA 6 map was supposed to behuge
bigger than we could have expected, according to the leaks from September 2022, we found out that one of the codenames for the game is Project Americas and yes, that's exactly what It seems, Rockstar Games was planning to make a map so large that it would have been a virtual representation of the United States that would include both the central and southern sides, which of course is much larger than Vice City because everything it covers is a recreation of Miami. .We have a lot of concept maps that show us what this could have been like, which is tremendously exciting to see because, although we have games like Microsoft's flight simulator that allows us to travel all over the United States, that is only possible in the air. and you can't really go out on the streets and explore as an avatar, but if something like this had been done in Grand Theft Auto, even if it was a fictional or scaled-down version of the United States, it would have been an amazing experience because you could travel everyw

, find recognizable places and carry out all kinds of fun and missions.Even just looking at the concept maps of these things makes you want to jump straight into GTA 6 for everything you could find, because even the smallest GTA maps are full of fun things to do and all kinds of Easter eggs, so just Imagine the myths and rumors that would arise for a game of this scale, unfortunately, according to industry sources and other leaks, we now know that Grand Theft Auto 6's map will not be as large as Rockstar Games originally planned. and we know the reasons behind this, which are very understandable, even if it is a bit annoying in the end.
First of all, development time and costs have increased enormously over the years due to the fact that Rockstar Games always has to make a bigger game than what they previously released and since graphics and technologies are increasingly better every day, more time, effort and money must be spent on taking care of every detail and making sure that fans can't criticize it for being outdated second. We have the fact that Rockstar Games suffered a lot of criticism from both its own employees, journalists and fans, for its extreme crisis conditions, which were most prominently experienced by the people who worked on Red Dead Redemption, as they had to carry out 20-hour work days and there was a report of one person even collapsing inside their office due to exhaustion, so one thing Rockstar decided to do from then on, which is confirmed by a Bloomberg report, was to remove the crisis culture within their offices, which means that employees only have to work reasonable hours even if they do so over time and this slows down development because it means that it has to be stopped every day for people to return home and then come back, and since the September leaks happened, they may now trust remote work even less, which reduces their options even for more hardware limitations also play a role in this now if you hear that we will have hardware limitations in 2023, it may seem strange because the PS5 and Xbox series easily a

map that we can explore, however, this does not work when you consider the fact that the development of GTA 6 began many years ago, each game coming. It was in development long before that time and that means the company has to work with limited resources and older technology, so it wouldn't be surprising at all if Rockstar Games had to scale back due to the hardware limitations of that time. . The thing to keep in mind about Rockstar Games is that the number of cities in any GTA game does not equate to a large size. Both dgta games had several cities for the player to explore, but those maps were smaller than anything the 3D era has to offer. If we just look at Grand Theft Auto 3 itself, which has a city and is the first game to stop being 2D2, then we have GTA San Andreas, which seems to have one of the largest maps in an open world game and even contains Many cities. we have Los Santos San Fierro Las Venturas and all the countryside that the player can visit and these are all cleverly made smaller versions of real life American cities which adds a lot of variety to the experience because none of the four locations look the same than each other, but when we get into details, we are not too familiar with the San Andreas map just because we play too much, it is because outside of the illusion of having big cities, the map itself is quite small, it is about 33 square kilometers, which is huge for the moment but nothing big in 2023, that's because Grand Theft Auto 5 came out with a 75 kilometer map that dominates the old San Andreas map effortlessly and this is often confusing for some people Because the GTA 5 map only contains Los Santos and Blaine County, we do not have Las Venturas or San Fierro, this eliminates the variety that the previous game had to offer within its locations and also sometimes makes the map seem smaller due to lack of options, however, if we put our feelings aside, it is undeniable that the GTA 5 map is objectively massive and puts a new spin on Los Santos that makes it feel like a real-world city and this shows us the genius of Rockstar Games and how they expand and the same. applied to GTA 4 2 since its version of Liberty City, despite being a single city, was much larger than what GTA 3 and Liberty City Stories had to offer, so even if the GTA 6 map no longer will be as diverse as before Even if we only get Vice City as an explorable location, it will still be bigger than anything we've seen before, whether in GTA San Andreas, GTA 4 GT TA5 or even Red Dead Redemption 2 and honestly, this is very exciting because even GTA Vice City had one of the smallest maps in the series.
I remember it being a lot of fun to explore due to its aesthetic and updates to The Emptiness of GTA 3. Last but not least, there is an alleged leak that was recently posted on Twitter showing a specific section of the upcoming GTA 6 map with a realistic terrain that has residential buildings, a lot of roads and tons of vegetation also with a body of water visible on the left side, which will be a very common thing in Vice. City Map whether this leak is real or not is unknown at the time, but it would surely be bad news for Rockstar if they still can't keep their stuff under wraps even after the September leak, but some fans seem to believe that while it's part of It's real, the rest could be AI generated and therefore can't be from the next game.
GTA Vice City featured two prominent gangs which were the Cubans and the Haitians, and you could find them both walking around the poorest neighborhoods in the game, such as Little Haiti and Little Havana although we never went to Cuba itself in the neighborhoods that could be visited there. They represented the island, even so it was something that stood out quite a bit to the point that the gangs had to change their name later due to controversies of stereotyping the people of their respective nations, curiously, although the general map of Grand Theft Auto 6 is reduced by Right now, as I just mentioned, there are sources saying that GTA 6 will feature a part of Cuba as a playable area along with Vice City, this not only means that you will have an exciting island to explore in the game in addition to the main city, but It also means that this could serve as an expansion of the Cuban and Haitian gang narrative that the original game had, although at this time this is an internal report. and it is not an official information, it is very credible so far due to the fact that Vice City is covered by a lot of water anyway and that the Cubans are very prominent in both the GTA Vice City and Vice City stories and then we have the fact that this cider is generally right in his reports, which certainly helps the case.
He also revealed that the game will have some sort of time jump, which makes sense since the story is about the adventure of a criminal couple who may or may not get caught up in Sometime and believes the release date will probably be 2024. instead of the end of 2023. One interesting thing to note here is that Cuba might not be part of the main map of the game and could serve as an additional location that the players visit within the story, but I hope they allow you to take a flight to wherever you want because only being able to temporarily visit places like Liberty City and GTA San Andreas sucks.
Grand Theft Auto is no stranger to upcoming expansions. it will be released after the game has already been released and no, this is not because the DLCs are too important in 2023; In fact, the first expansion to be released for a GTA game was the London 1969 mission pack, which was created for the first GTA game in 1999. Not only did this pack include new missions, but it even gave us a new one. city to explore versus London, which is also one of the rare times a GTA game had a real city other than Manchester, then we had the fact that GTA San Andreas came with Liberty City in the game files, which was used for a mission in the story, and GTA 5 took us to a small town based in North Dakota, also known as North Yankton, for a mission as well.
This shows how much the developers always wanted to add. additional locations in the game, but unfortunately there is never enough time to fully polish those locations for the player to explore. More recently, we have GTA Online which gave Rockstar Games the opportunity to allow players to enter an island that is not part of the main game in Of course, I'm talking about the Chioperico Heist, which gave us the opportunity to visit a Brand new location as part of free DLC. Caioperico Island has an exotic environment that contrasts pleasantly with urban Los Santos and players can visit it. one club rides dirt bikes on Rocky Roads and explores some of the surrounding water.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to visit the location freely and you are forced to commit to the mission, but it still gives you an idea of how to obtain additional locations. a GTA game after its release may be Plus, we even know for sure that GTA 5 was originally intended to get story DLC, so it's not even just the online content that can give us more locations in the future, according to experts, there is a good possibility. that GTA 6 could have new locations to visit later as DLC or in the form of expansions and this can be both online or single player experience or even both, this would help Rockstar make the game closer to his original vision and, frankly, to the games.
They're too expensive to make and it can literally take a decade to get a sequel now, as we've seen with GTA 6 itself, so it would make a lot of sense for Rockstar Games to further expand GTA 6 years after its release instead of just waiting. the upcoming sequel, so one way or another, while it's extremely fascinating to see what project America might have originally been, we're still in good hands and we're still going to get an amazing map in GTA 6 and, eventually, We may even get updates that add more locations. for us to explore and before we wrap up I want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of my amazing patrons on Patreon, you guys are the absolute best and I can't thank you enough for your amazing support everyone.
