GALAXY BUDS+ vs GALAXY BUDS (In-Depth Comparison & Mic Test)

Feb 27, 2020
Welcome back to the channel guys I'm Michael Bryan and in this video we're talking about Galaxy Buds Plus and we know we're talking about Galaxy Buds Plus and Galaxy Buds now obviously I'm joking I can tell the difference. among these, but at first glance you would say that Samsung didn't change anything, now they actually made quite a few changes and what they did instead of a massive redesign was that they took the design that was already a pretty good product and did it incrementally. changes in what I would consider all the right places, so in this video we'll delve into what those changes were and discuss whether it's really worth the price difference where the old Galaxy Buds were originally $130, now you can buy them for as low as $95 and I'll put a link in the description so you can see the la

price, but the new ones are $150, so we're talking about a fifty-five to sixty dollar price difference.

The upgrades are really worth it, so I'll talk about that in this video, but I want to start with a physical walkthrough of these products, I'll just talk about the differences because there really are very few physical differences. The first is the weight, but it's actually not even that noticeable on the new Galaxy Buds. They also weigh approximately two grams more and I will show you the exact weights. I'll show it on a screen right there, but that's to accommodate a larger battery because one of the biggest improvements they made here was the battery life of the New Galaxy Buds The new Buds claimed to have about double the battery life in the ear

buds

and in the case of the older Galaxy Buds, there's actually another mechanical difference with these ear

buds

and that comes with the feel of the case in particular when you open it and close it so the previous one had a much looser lid right there where it opens and then clips closed very easily so when you open it you have to click it in the open position and then as soon as they come out of the open position they almost instantly close, now the new ones, the best way Where I can explain them is that they are a little bit softer, so I don't know if it's a tighter tolerance or a little bit more.

More Interesting Facts About,

There is resistance there, but you will find that with these buttons you can open the case to almost any level you want, it opens a little with a clip, but it is actually a really nice premium feel. I will see that now there are almost no differences apart from the aesthetics of the cases, although of course they come in different colors. Now the Galaxy Buds came in black and white, this really bright yellow color and then I think they came out later with a kind of silver, I'll show the colors on the screen so you can see what I'm talking about, but the new

galaxy

buds also They come in three colors, they have white, obviously, it's a much higher brightness, as you can see here, they also have cosmic color.

Black, not

black. I don't know why they called it that and then they also have cloud blue. Honestly, I don't think the colors really make that much of a difference. Most people, from what I've seen, go black or white. then inside you will see that there really is not a big difference here, the white buds you will see that they are still white, but the inner casing is not blue, it is white on all sides, whereas in the old ones I can have this. light blue or a strange unsaturated blue color on the inside, so it doesn't make a big difference, then you also have this strange little rubber pad to show you which is right and which is left, also not a big change now, looking at the buttons.

I'll see that they are actually the same size, almost the same weight. I'm talking about a difference of half a gram, just to accommodate a slightly larger battery, but the only other difference you'll see here is that on the back there's a little extra hole on the new Galaxy Buds, which is our extra microphone. , so I'll try it in a few minutes, but now they have three microphones, so the new Galaxy Bud's plus have two microphones on the outside and one on the inside, while the new Galaxy Buds plus have two microphones on the outside and one inside.
The old ones only had one inside and one outside, so let's do a microphone

test

right now and see if they really sound different. Okay, to test the microphone on the old Galaxy Buds, let's switch and this is what it sounds like. speaking on the original Galaxy Buds I'm in a studio now and the app I'm using should do a good job of capturing what it would sound like on a phone call, so comment below if you think they sound Good or not, these are the Galaxy Buds and Again, we have the extra microphone on each earbud, so comment below if V sounds significantly better or if you think it sounds almost the same again.
We are not in a noisy environment. If you want to see that test, check out my previous video where I reviewed them in a noisy environment and in the studio, if you want to see how the microphone sounds in there, so as an aside, I will make more videos about the Galaxy Buds and also include some. updates and

s with other brands, so if you are interested in them, be sure to scroll down, click the subscribe button and the bell icon. Well I found a strange thing about the Galaxy Buds Plus when you put them on the base and you have Ambient mode turned up to the maximum, but not to the maximum like the crazy extra loud mode right on the third and when you start to close the case, yeah You make some sound, you start getting some feedback right there, so see if I can pick that up on the microphone.
I don't know if you heard that or not, kind of weird right now, let's talk about the batteries between these two headphones, so the old ones were supposed to last about six hours per bud and 13 hours. with the case, as far as earbuds on the market go, it's usually not that long, but for me I always found that I could easily go a day or two without any issues and charging it was very easy, you can just place it on any charging pad wireless or you can use the USB C on the back so I never had a problem with that but the new headphones should allow you to travel further without needing as much power because you basically get double the battery life based on The specs you should get are 11 hours per earbud and 22 hours with the case.
Now some people pointed out that you could get about 44 hours if you used one ear, but at a time that's honestly very impressive, if you want to do it, you can last a long time with these headphones charging, you actually have a fast charging feature on both, so three minutes of charging with the new Galaxy plus headphones gives you an hour of listening, whereas with the old headphones it's not an exact

here, but 15. The minutes of charging gave you 100 minutes in which When it comes to the audio quality of the Galaxy Buds, they definitely sound better.
I would say the sound is a little richer, a little warmer and definitely a little more low level detail, so part of that is actually most of This is because they now have a dual driver system here a woofer and a tweeter which means like I said they have more dynamic audio now the original Galaxy Bud still sounded pretty good so the average listener who is just listening to Spotify and is not an audiophile who just look for decent audio, it will sound pretty good and you might not even hear the difference but people who have more trained ears would definitely prefer the Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Buds plus have IPX over water. resistance, which is good if you are sweating or running in the rain, you shouldn't have any problems and now let's talk a little more about the app itself, something that Samsung is known for is making an update to their product like What We saw with the active watch and the active watch two, some of the biggest differences were within the app, which they probably could have implemented as an update to the previous model, but they wanted you to buy the new one, so let's dive into the app and See what the differences are between these.
Now the first difference is when you open Galaxy Bud's for the first time and you will see that the little animation on the screen is definitely much more detailed, so what appears shows you. That's taking them out and then it shows you the battery level of each earbud and the battery level of the case. Now if we go to the galaxy where the app is located, you'll see that it's different here and I'll show you both side by side. side right now, so on the Galaxy Buds plus they tell you the case and the earbuds on the top right now don't show the case because the case is dead, but you can turn on the ambient sound right there and we have three different levels, The reason you see a fourth level is because of the laboratory function at the bottom.
I'll show you in just a second the EQ looks a little different on these, but you're essentially doing the same thing, it's a little more fun on the Galaxy. Buds, plus how you can use the slider and tap and drag and switch between them that way, but like I said, it does the same thing, notifications are the same touchpad functions, they're almost the same, so they have the same double and triple. touch functions, but if you tap and hold you'll see there's actually a difference here, where on the old headphones you could get into a quick mood, so if someone is talking you just tap and hold while they're talking, I think Samsung figured out which maybe not many people use it, I know I didn't actually use it, so they replaced it by opening Spotify now, unfortunately, if you listen to YouTube music or Apple music or title or whatever you listen to, you still can't do it, TRUE?
They just have a little Spotify drawback right now, but I think it might be an update they can release in the near future if you go advanced on the Galaxy Buds and they also allow you to use ambient during phone calls which is really nice , so when you are talking on the phone you can hear yourself and therefore you can have atmosphere when you are not talking on the phone, but turn around when you are talking on the phone so you don't end up shouting like in a library or any kind of quiet public environment, then at the bottom of the Galaxy Bud's Plus app, you can see that we have labs right there.
This one's important because they're rolling out some beta features here that they might roll out full time later, so double-tapping the edge of the earbud is really cool, so you can free up an extra, for example, instead of tapping and holding to increase or decrease the volume, you can release those functions and instead increase or decrease the volume by double-tapping the corner of the earbud now I'll talk about that in another video. I'm still not very good at it, but sometimes I hit the wrong spot and it's a little tricky to find exactly the right location, but when you get it, it's kind of like It's a good thing they have that, then we have an extra high ambient mode and that essentially it's like a complete explosion, it sounds like you're talking like a karaoke machine, so it's kind of like you can tell the games all the way through and you're not. the best audio quality of your voice speaking, but you definitely know if you have hearing problems or if you really want to listen to your surroundings and listen to loud music, it's good that there is that feature and lastly, the game mode allows you to minimize the audio lag, which I will say, I haven't seen much audio lag anyway just from watching videos, so comment below if you used game mode and found any significant difference there and if you thought it was really worth it, but the three features and just labs in general is not something that we have been seeing in the original galaxy capsules, now when you open the galaxy buttons, I'm going to show you that there is a little bit different because you will see that while it appears on the screen they don't give you that funny animation, it looks a little older and cartoonish and they only tell you the battery level of each earbud and that's not the case now, when you enter the app you will see again what you have.
At the top there is a little less animation about the battery level of the headset and they don't show you the battery in the case, then the equalizer has the same things, just a slightly different look and then you see that you have less idle functions. below so you have notifications, touchpad, ambient sound and find my headphones, but that's really all you have here, so when it comes down to it, I love the Galaxy headphones and I also think they are a great pair of headphones, but at the same time. The Galaxy Buds are still a decent pair of headphones, they have a much shorter battery, have one less microphone and are missing some of the new features, but they do a pretty good job, so if you're on a budget and looking for your first pair of truly wireless earbuds, you might consider getting the galaxy buds, they definitely do a decent job now if you have the money and just say I don't care but they are both pretty good, the galaxy buds.
Furthermore, they are definitelysignificantly better, so the extra battery life and extra microphone are definitely a big help and having those extra cool features in the app, especially in the labs, means that these are essentially just a more robust pair of headphones, That's my analysis of these headphones. Comment below and let me know which one you like best and why, as always guys, thanks everyone for watching, see you next time.
