FULL FACE OF MAKEUP USING ONLY ART SUPPLIES

Feb 27, 2020
Hello sisters, this is James Charles and welcome back to my youtube channel. Guys, for today's video, I'm literally doing something I've wanted to do for so long, this has been on my list of video ideas for a million years, I don't know why I never made it. I think the idea scared me too much. But you know what? I love a good sister challenge and for today's video, I went to Hobby Lobby, Michael's, every craft store I could find and hope

supplies

. At this point, I feel like I'm literally a broken record saying, "Oh my gosh, I started doing

makeup

for art." We get it, James, you think you're talented.

Whoa! Art has always been a great, great passion of mine: it's what led me to put on

makeup

, but even before I put on makeup, I was always drawing, always painting, always coloring. So a lot of the materials that I have here in front of me, like chalks, pastels, brushes, watercolors,

face

paint, and sponges, are definitely not foreign to me, but they're not usually placed on the

face

. I think this would be a really fun and potentially dangerous challenge. I hope I don't get a breakout from

using

this stuff on my face, but you know what?

More Interesting Facts About,

That's why it's called a challenge, I guess. Without further ado, let's jump right into the video! For today's foundation, I bought this tempera paint but reading the label it says 'WARNING: Not safe for consumption. It can cause cancer. Great, so this isn't happening today. I'm going to use my normal foundation and powder, but I found these fine natural sponges at the craft store. So, Beauty Blender? I had never heard of her. We are going to use a fine natural sponge today. I went ahead and moistened and then tossed my beauty sponges in the sink. I'm going to grab my Too Faced Born This Way in the 'Warm Nude' shade, you know this is my all time favorite and I'm going to put it on. in my Artiste Palette today, when I think of artists, why does the first thing that comes to mind is a little French man with a beret and a little mustache, painting on a little easel?

Yes Yes! I'm an artist. Okay, for a foundation brush today I'm going to use this, a real brush, and I'm going to take my little palette and apply it. Oh The brush and then apply it to the canvas. Oh my God. Low key, why does this actually apply very well? Hello? What's going on? To my fellow beauty gurus who may be watching this video, I don't ever want to hear any of you say I'm going to paint this on until you're using a real brush. Surprisingly, this is like it's not that bad. I can't forget to blur the neck, ohoho that tickles, that tickles, are you kidding me.

Next, I'll take one of my own natural blending sponges, dip it into the excess product from the palette, and use it to smooth. from stipple in Oh my god. This is kind of work. Picasso will be shaking in his grave Can I say that? that is offensive? For the concealer, of course I'm going to take my Tarte shaped tape and this is in the 'light neutral' shade and I'm going to put it on my little palette. I have to stop doing that right now. And then to apply it I'm going to use this filbert 8 brush. It literally looks like an m224 morphe.
The conspiracy theory morphe brushes are just repackaged artist brushes. Go low profile. Why is this brush really good? It definitely stays in my collection for the half pleat cut. You got to be kidding. Ok, once again the beauty sponge to blend it all out. Now that my face is in place, I'm going to set it up with another natural sponge and then it's Laura Mercier's translucent setting powder. This scares me, okay, I'll put it there. Oh God. So now that we have the base in place we can finally start building on it using our art

supplies

, so for outlining I think I'm going to use this 48 Color Soft Chalk Pastels Kit and hope

y find a warm tone. . an outline shadow here If I can open this up okay so we have our two sets of cakes right here the way it was packaged made it look like there was more inside and there isn't so our outline choices here are very , very limited as you can tell.
The

only

two shades that can help us are this very bright burnt orange and this very dark brown. This could be where it goes wrong. To contour my face today, I'm going to be using this Masters Touch Round Oil & Acrylic Mop Brush #430. One more time, morphe. Is there something you're not telling us? Okay, maybe I do like to scrape off -Oh my gosh- Some of the pigment. Here we go. Okay. This could work. bingo! We've cracked the code, ladies. I'm also going to scrape off a bit of the burnt orange shade, so we have, like, a blush situation.
I'm going to grab my round mop brush and dip into those two pigments. take advantage of the excess and hopefully Wow, Benefit Hoola Bronzer, who? Kat Von D Highlights and Shadows Palette, who? Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit? I had never heard of her. Okay. Clearly, today we are going for a sun-kissed beach look. That's what we are looking for. If right. I love that I complain that my face is orange when I just used this contour. Oh gosh, I am going to try to contour and snatch my nose today using, once again, the 425 Oil Acrylic Oval Mop Brush.
Once again, this is literally a fluffy crease brush. What's going on? Say a silent prayer for me on this Oh, okay. Not the worst, but definitely not the best. I'm going to pick some more like a setting powder and another natural sponge and just use this to bake my face, not

only

to set everything in place but to bring back a little bit of my natural skin tone because this is a little scary mcgooked . *soft piano music* Alright while we bake in the oven let's move on to the next step which of course will be my brows and you know I usually live for a good brow pencil but what I don't like to use is eyebrow powder.
So I'm going to take a break from acrylics for a brief second. Today I think I'm going to use these watercolors. I'm just going to take the little brush that comes in the set and dip it into my little cup of water to soak in the brown tone, which is very, very warm. Oh God. This could be bad. I'm also going to grab some black, because that sounds scary. Alright here we go. This could be good. So I'll apply it with an angled brush that I found once again at the art store. Oh oh oh my gosh I love that.
I'm literally killing this challenge, what's going on? Hey, why is that eyebrow a discreet fire? Oh I love this challenge. Oh my God! You are literally kidding. Wow I'm the makeup queen. invented glamour. The other gurus never could! yes they could. Once again Anastasia Beverly Hills, Who? Surprisingly, this challenge is going very, very well so far. Alright, now that the brows are done, it's time to move on to the eyeshadow and I'm so, so excited about this, obviously this is the part where I can really shine! you guys know i love colorful eyeshadows and i feel like i literally have morphe 35b here sitting in front of me actually.
You know what morphe 35b, honey? I'm so sorry to use the code "James" for 10% off, but you know what? This could be a really cool second alternative, so I'm going to go in there and start making ham and see what we can come up with. I guess I'll just go ahead and scrape all my colors at first to get the pigments. Ready for you So first I'll start with this yellow shade that I think I'll use in the crease. I'm going to grab this shade of orange, then this shade of red, then this shade of cranberry, then this shade of purple, and finally just a little bit of the black.
Alright. This is what we have going on. Let's see what happens to us. There is. despite the fact that these are literally raw pigments going to my eyeball, i am actually amazed at how lightly pigmented they are and how much i have to layer them. But I feel like we can definitely do a really cute kind of eye. look with this. I'm going to apply a layer of red in the crease. Oh, that's pigmented. It's okay, we're getting somewhere. We are getting somewhere. I'm really looking forward to trying to make a sunset halo eye with these colors.
It's literally one of the hardest color combinations to make and it uses a lot of different colors too. So it's a challenge. Next, I'm going to grab this number six round blender watercolor brush, literally a pencil brush. Use the code "James" for a 10% discount. morphe? Anything you want to tell us here? I have definitely found that the best way to get a color payoff is to definitely pack the color first and then blend it later if you go in and try to layer like you normally would with eyeshadow. It really isn't. It shows up so much and obviously when it comes to a sunset halo eye, we need that pigmentation there.
So definitely pack and then mix if you would ever be doing this. I don't know why I would ever need this technique. in all your life. Unless you're going to prepare using art supplies, but I'm just being the guru that I am. I want to go ahead and cut out the center of this crease and put a little bit of glitter and more shadow in there. So I'm just going to grab that rounded concealer brush. One more time. Oh my gosh I literally love this brush. It will 100% be added to my regular collection. Well, the main downside to using chalk pastels for your The Fallout eyeshadow. for the eyelid, i bought these ultrafine glitters from the craft store.
Now of course you know that glitter, unless it's cosmetic grade, shouldn't be used on the eyes. But you know what? Most of these products probably shouldn't be used in the eye, so don't call this advice, but I'm going to pop this gold right there. I'm literally in love with how this looks so far, hi? This is definitely a good sister look. So I think I want to add a winged lining. I'm getting very trusting, clearly, but you know what? This looks good so I'll take this great paint I got and it's body safe thank goodness so I'll take the shade black and do my best to put on a nice cool sister wing liner *sirens howls* The sirens.
My eyeball may or may not be burning a bit right now, but you know what? That's a wing. And he's ready to cut someone. I'm literally, honestly impressing myself right now. I literally feel like the Kris Jenner meme. I will try to dust off some of these consequences. Oh thank goodness it's alright wig! for the lower lash line, why not? Let's do a touch of color. I'm going to outline this with a blue chalk here, scrape it off a bit and place it there. Very good sisters. That is a complete eye. I didn't plan on going this intense, but I'm literally loving this so far.
I'm going to do the other one off camera quickly and really get in the zone. Be a true artist and I'll be right back to finish the rest of the look. very good sisters! I'm back. Those are both complete eyes. I just went and put on a Lily Lash Miami, my all time favourite! And then also my Extended Play mascara for Mac. Sorry, I love you guys more and I love this challenge more, but I wouldn't risk a sty by using some crooked products on my lashes. I digress. The next step. The favorite step of the whole routine is going to be the shine and before I get into this, I'm going to give you some Mac Fix+.
I haven't had a chance to melt everything down, so we're feeling a bit caked on. do you understand right now? Badum-shhh Baking Joke! Craft shop! Anyway, that was the worst. Now, if you're not familiar with baking, this is called glitter dust. It's basically an edible shimmery powder that you put on top of the cupcakes to give them a nice shimmery shine something that thank goodness is edible and skin friendly and I'm going to use this for my highlighter today It's literally the only shimmery product that I can find. I hope the color works for me and I'm going to put it on and live out my fantasy like any other gay 13 year old, thinking he's going to be the next cupcake-making star.
Oh, you have to be kidding. Oh my gosh, you're kidding. OMG Anastasia Beverly Hills 'So Hollywood' who? I only know of bakery glitter powder sunny side up. Oh, I'm speechless. Oh, that doesn't look good, though. You know what we're going to have to do to make it work Okay wow I'm not going to lie I'm a little disappointed in the highlighter Of course it looks really pretty when the light hits it like, hello? I love that. But when the light doesn't hit it, it's definitely too dark. This is the only shade they had available. I feel like all of you were sitting at home saying, wow.
How is James going to shine from within and have a dazzling glow using art supplies, when I'm sitting here? Like wow, I have glitter powder and I was ready to have y'all shaking but not with this glitter. especially this nose contour situation Oh, everyone is doing very well. Last but certainly not least, the only thing we are missing is the lipstick. So for this look, I feel like I would go for a red lip. I think it will go well with all colors.what we have. I'm just going to use the red face paint from the kit earlier.
Alright guys, I think this is today's look and the full face challenge using only art supplies is complete! Oh my God. I am literally obsessed with how this turned out.
