business account, so if you have an LLC and do it with a business account, there might be a little more savings on that, so if you don't have these cards and you drive a diesel, they legitimately give you savings. I'm not the type of person who goes around looking for cheaper things. fuel because often my number one goal, my main mission is how to get in and out without damaging anything, that's my number one goal and, frankly, I don't care what the price of fuel is if it's a safe place, well, if you have a diesel, the safest place to get fuel is at a truck stop, but if you come here, please don't dawdle, be prepared, come in and pick up the fuel when you're done filling it, go to the yellow line, stay away of the truck driver. because the last thing we need is to have signs saying no RVs allowed because there's someone using the bathroom in the RV when you're fueling up and you've got three trucks behind you, so that's just a little bit, um, just a maybe.

A little word to the community, if you're going to use these truck stops, let's be quick because these guys make a living driving their trucks, it's going to be easier for them anyway, so if you want to learn more about these fuels. Savings for this field. Alright, the other thing I love about a truck stop and these fuel cars is that I don't have to go in when I'm in a normal model like a shell or a mobile or x in something like that. I have to put my cart in twice because I'm going to feel like it's worth more than a hundred dollars. Look at the size of that thing. This will fill 60 gallons, of course. I'll never get that much in these tanks, but it will fill up, it will fill up fast, okay, quick comment on fuel economy, so right now I'm towing a draft that weighs 8,800 pounds with this truck. 13 miles per gallon on average so I'd probably like closer to 10 towing and maybe closer to 15 without towing and I look here right now and I'm looking at an 817 mile range which is pretty stellar uh and if you don't you do Like I said, if you don't have a fuel card, it's not only is it easy savings, but I think it's a little bit safer to get fuel.

I think we should all do the

we can to not go out. off the trucker road and now um let's get back to whatever else we have in this video now it's time to talk about these four scan updates that update the computer in your truck and when I went out with Eric and Sean we were in the cabin. of this truck for almost an hour when making these updates, we decided to summarize this section and review all the updates we made and then also link to keep your

slash from daydream.com so you can get maybe a list of all the updates we we did, what's possible, and any additional information we want to record or provide about these updates is fine, but first a couple of disclaimers up front: I know a lot of people will worry about warranty if you make a change to your communication , your truck's computer and then it will have a problem, will it still be covered under warranty?

Personally, I have never had a problem making modifications to our truck, not going from a 30 gallon tank to a 60 gallon tank, not doing anything on Is it possible that the frame won't change to this computer setting? I'm sure to some extent it is possible if you have a very specific problem with what you modified and things aren't going very well from a customer service perspective. Use it against him. I've never personally encountered that situation, but I think it's something to consider, e

ly if a warranty is high on your list. I know I often want to go like, say, the death wobble and I'm glad I get to do it.
Remember this because I want to talk about the wall of death, but we haven't fixed it yet, but I've gotten so much amazing input from the community on how to fix it. I'm not actually going to go to the dealer to fix the death wobble, I feel like through your help, through the community's help, I have a better solution, a more complete solution, so although yes, I'm sure it's covered under warranty, I'll look for a store that will allow me to engrave. so I can share the solution with you um anyway this is how I assume things like that now um another quick thing two things about Forescan so what 4scan is is like a software application that only works on one PC, not on a mac which allows you to access your truck's computer through what is called an obd2 reader and there are two different versions of an obd2 reader.
You can get the wired USB version I have here. I think you just plug it into the little outlet on your computer and then plug the USB into your computer or like Eric has the wireless obd2 reader that you plug in and the advantage of that is you can then use your phone to get readings on your computer, so we have to check the engine light. He can plug it. he's using his phone and he can get the reading from his phone which is quite useful and then of course in this case we used it to plug it in and then he was on his laptop doing these updates if you're going to go this route it's very important that you make a backup of your computer of the current system, the current configuration and then save it and then when you get everything the way you want everything will be checked make another backup because if you were to go to the dealer to get serviced and they changed all the settings back to default, you would lose all the work that you put into, you know, getting this dial here and updating the fuel size, the tank fuel size and things like that, so do another one. backup when you're done, well, you know, what we've talked about so much is just turning off the bells, which I love what I call stealth mode.
I love that the bells are no longer there, but there are still some. There are some settings where it still rings and I'm okay with that, I mean, if it says that's an essential thing, then whatever it is, at least I got rid of most of the noises that I know you've been hearing and has been driving you crazy the other one that was important on my list is changing the size of the fuel tank so at the beginning of this season we went to Cliff's Welding and changed our fuel tank to a standard OEM tank probably around 34 Gallon , I guess they are a fuel tank snb uh, fuel tank in the middle of the boat, top below, so it's not on the bed of the truck.
I don't see the very aerodynamic tank. I love it, but the computer still thinks it's an OEM tank, so we go in there. and we changed the size to 60 gallons the fuel gauge still says normal but the miles to empty doesn't so now when I fill up I probably think the last thing I saw was like an 800 mile range or something was a crazy, so it was something like that. It's good to update it and by the way I'm providing a list of these updates, maybe more so you know what's possible to change within 4scan than a tutorial on how to do it, but if you want more information on how to do it.

. Well, number three, we changed the diesel exhaust filter display, so within the Lariat and Platinum King Ranch trim levels, they don't show you how much the diesel exhaust filter has been used. on a percentage basis, for example, if it starts at 100 and goes down to zero and then the truck automatically does what's called diesel particulate regeneration, which means it finds out when the truck is running, the premiums are very high. maybe when you're on the highway and it can generate so much heat it goes through a regeneration of about half an hour and burns all the particles and goes back down to zero now with the update I can see what percentage it's going down so I can see it's like 55 before it does a regeneration and then the other thing is we went in there and made it so I can do a regeneration on my own, I can actually start a regeneration. just sitting here in the driveway, meaning the rpm would go up a lot, the fans would start running and shut off automatically.
We also changed the settings to allow me to turn off automatic regen if we ever needed to. For example, let's say you were very close to a regen and were only going out for 10 minutes. I can turn it off so it doesn't start a regeneration when I wasn't going to be in the truck long enough to do so. to complete the job and maybe that's where some of these diesel problems come from, is that it's halfway through a regeneration and then you get home and you turn it off and you never knew it was doing it, so, then there's some configurations to make.
Look at that, okay, quick one I can't believe, I almost forgot. You have the ability in your super duty, at least on 17 or newer, to put a gauge of any gauge you want in the top right corner and I think the default is the turbo boost, which or the turbo, the turbo diesel , which isn't really information that I need to know, but on the other hand, on the other hand, and how much is left is something that I think is very important to know, so I've gone. in the settings and replaced the turbo boost with the definition gauge on top so I always have access to it, a quick little tip and then the other thing I really like is that we changed the tpms low pressure warning setting, as you know.
You've heard me say that before you inflate tires to the tire load plus maybe 10 percent, these Michelin tires are 80 psi, which is a load that far exceeds the load that's actually in the tires and the more air you have in the tires. The more it creates kind of a motion, it rides in the center of the tire and it's just a very firm rigid tire, so you know I like to stay within the load rating to leave a good footprint on the road and also make a more comfortable trip. and then the problem with that is that on this truck the tpms warning was like below, you know, 55 psi or 65, I think let's say, let's say 60 psi, I think it was like that, I always had my tpms light on, like this that now we have adjusted that. to which I think maybe it really should be the low tpms warning and that light went out so that was kind of an annoyance that I'm glad we fixed, we already talked about depth regeneration and the double honk when leaving you .
I know that's not something that applies to me because I just used the keypad and turned all that off, but if you use your truck like a normal person would, you could turn off the dual horn on the way out. I know that's annoying for people. I adjusted the fog lights on the high beams so that when the high beams are on the fog lights stay on so if you're interested in getting all those updates you can know where to go next and beyond that you know that you really I am I am satisfied with this truck.
I am eager to share a video on how to make corrections to the deadly swing situation. We have owned four Ford trucks in the last five years and this is the only one where we have experienced the deadly sway situation. with um, but even with that, you know, I know it's something we can fix and um, I think these trucks have been really great, so I'm really happy with them. I like some of the features like the exhaust brake, uh, that. It really stops the truck when we go down steep grades and I will say the biggest thing for us when towing a travel trailer is that when we went from a half ton to a three quarter ton, the increase in suspension and power made a big difference in terms of how much the trailer was pushing around the truck.
We felt like we had more confidence, more control and were able to drive longer in a day. I think Trish also enjoyed towing more in these trucks than others. our half ton trucks, but as we have always said, start small, start now, don't let anything stop you, whatever you have is the right truck, to keep going because memories are for everyone, in any situation, never I heard no one say. Oh boy, we had a great time. I just wish I had a better truck or a better motorhome because within a few years you forget about that kind of stuff and it really becomes what you buy it for and that's it.
We want to represent all these things because it's fun to talk about trucks and it's fun to talk about all these modifications things, but at the end of the day the important thing is what you're buying it for, where you're going to go and who. you're going and it's all about making memories and making the most of everything so we hope you got something out of this video, maybe a little trick or tip for upgrading your Fordand if not, we will have another video. As we move from Murfreesboro Tennessee through Texas and finally back to Arizona, so that's it for this video and I'll see you next Sunday.
