We're going to grind it down, weld on some pins, put it on the back here, we're going to get this dent out, do the bodywork and then basically paint it. paint the green from here up, look up and clean the side of the bed, so before you do any real work on the body, you want to polish out all the damaged areas this way, you could do the spot welding, remove the dents and do the filling and everything. That's the most important thing: clean the area that has to be worked with a grinder. Now we're doing some spot welding.

Here you ever used this machine before. It's not very easy. Hold the pressure a couple of times with your right hand like this, before you put down any type of putty you want, make sure to send 80 grit around all areas of your body, this way you could apply your body work in bondo, do you see how? we've got it scraped all over the area, that's very important, this way you can blend it in, so here we're scraping a little bit to save some sanding time, and it's always great to use a scraper and I'll show you how. to use that in other videos on the website, link our second coat of body filler here, large dents usually require two to four coats, you know, depending on the amount of body filler, there are smaller areas, you know, They usually get about one coat, two coats, we're scraping here.

Bring it down again now we're using the straight sander to give us a little bit of guide coat there as well and then we'll do a hand block crossing it with 40 to 60 to 80 grit, whatever you really want to use. I'm using a Padrino 80 here, I'm sanding the entire hood with a 320 using the straight sander here on the side panel to get my nice flat edge. I'm doing the crease right here, the fender crease, once you learn how to use these tools. They're pretty, you know, they're fun to use, they'll save you some time, and they're a really, really fun process.
Spray on a little more guide coat so we can use our block and finish it nice and flat. Well, once that's done, we'll be. We're going to go ahead and use a polyester putty and fill this all in very, very well, so we put down about three heavy coats here of polyester putty, so what you want to do after this is check for imperfections if there are any chips that you got lost. You could fill it with normal glaze putty. I use a polyester glaze putty in a tube and then we cut everything with 400 grit wet sand.
Well you can cheat and use a quick DA and then you want to wash it with 400 grit wet sand and then you are ready to paint the perfect antique, that's all you want to do, we'll do it on all the panels and we're done. You can see I'm washing everything with 400 grit getting it ready to paint Tony. I guess we're a little bit prepared, now we have to worry about this, so what he's talking about is saying you know where everything is ready to paint, but we missed the point here, right? Do we do it right so that it is not too late?
All you have to do if you find something like this is make sure it is very dry. We want to dry the area and then we use something called stain putty. Okay, it's a polyester stain putty. Well, put it on. there, let it dry, sand the block and then here I am using the Warwick 980 spray gun. You can check it out in the store at learnautobodyandpaint.com. It's a really amazing high quality spray gun, so this one is my dad's. trick usually this goes on your mask like this okay so what you do is you put some toilet paper on it, you take off the heavy stuff and then we put it on like this so it's like a little bit pre pre Phillips this is how it looks. take out, you know, a lot of the initial heavy products overspray this, then we'll mix our paint and then we'll stick it on, okay, the tack cloth is the final

step

and then we'll start with our base coat, so this is one coat base, it's a 50- 50 mix so we do this is the layer because we use this, you mean a base layer and we put another layer on top light clear cold yes, let's paint this The godfather is here gluing all the panels before

painting

.
I'm getting ready. I already did the wax and grease remover and then it's sticking mixing our base coat fill the cup put on two or three coats of base and then two coats of heavy clear when you do little touch up repair jobs like this you always want to cover your Prime area first, you can see I'm not painting the entire hood yet. I'm going to put two coats on the primer areas, then I'm going to go over the hood, the whole panel, the whole hood, the whole fender with two. Layers are fine too, so you want to cover this first because it's clear.
If you just covered the entire panel, it will still be a little gray. Make sure you get the same color first, you know, like dark green and then you paint. the whole panel like I'm doing it right now so here we're basing the whole hood and you know there's hail damage on the hood and we didn't want to spend too much time doing a bunch of body work that we just wanted to do. that main front grill fixed the big dent in the front you know it's flipping the truck so we decided it wasn't worth the extra time to put the hood on and do custom work it wasn't worth it.
Alright, so let's finish applying our clear coat. I think I need to fill the gun one more time and then we'll apply our second coat of clear over this thing. Here you go, they just had a little bit of transparent left over. I'm just going to fill the gun, make sure we have all the material in there and we're applying our second coat. Do you want to see how we walk through the entire panel here? 50% overlap, we are spraying at about 29 to 30 psi getting great atomization in the gun, it will come out nice and shiny and I left this section long on purpose because people like to see the paint process as it is sprayed, see them at about four to six inches away from the panel here, making sure it's nice and wet and bright, that's something that a lot of

newbies

make a mistake: they don't put enough light on it, that's why it comes out dry and the orange peel, right, the Orange peel is not light enough, dries too quickly or is inappropriate. mix well, you are not spraying correctly or spraying at too low a PSI, okay that will give you orange peel so don't be afraid to apply your clear coat, is what I'm saying, it's easier to fix. and polishing a run than trying to polish a dry spot, it's better to be lighter than not light enough, so this is like Christmas, you're unwrapping the Christmas present by removing all the paper, it's one of my favorite parts now.
Here what we are doing is applying some Plasti Dip on the front grill and we are removing the excess plastic tip from the emblem and now the entire job is pretty much done. What we are doing is polishing the rest of the panels. so it matches, highlights the strength of the old paint to match the new paint because we just did a touch up, we didn't really do any blending work here, we just painted panels from the previous victors, you see this dented hardness. So, here, you will have noticed the initial appearance, how smooth and combined, where is the passion repair?
My friend agreed with the stripes on this whole thing, the stripes in the classroom, that's great and it's very close to me, it's close, it's professional. factory specifications, so I hope you enjoyed this series.
