Fixing 5 Common DECOR MISTAKES // Bedroom, Living Room, Entryway & Office Updates

ating decisions I made that didn't really work out that well, so today we're going to fix all those

mistakes

. It's like five or six changes and then I'm going to go through what I'm doing throughout my house,

living

room,

bedroom

,

office

,

entryway

so for mistake number one it's something I was trying to see if it would work so if you watched my entryway makeover series I was obsessed with finding a small type of miniature plant. that looked like an olive tree I never found it when I was making the entrance I decided to take a branch of an olive tree outside and see if it dried well it didn't dry well it looks so sad and withered and not pretty, so one solution is to

ate your home with vegetation and flowers that dry very well such as eucalyptus Protea or pampas grass.

We're going to replace it with some eucalyptus because I know eucalyptus dries well and we're going to do that. so now we're in my

living

room and I made a decision that I knew I was going to regret: buy a white shag rug that's no longer white, it's great and I still think a light tuft is the best route, but not the hair and it's not pure white, so let's see what we can find. I always have my swatch book and I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from making bad decisions at home, so for the living room this is a pillow fabric that I have there, which is like a gold color that I have in all the decorative pillows and then this is a sample that I took from my couch, so HomeGoods is always like my first stop when trying to find a rug because sometimes you can find one. really good rug that matches your decor for a not expensive price HomeGoods was a flop with rugs so I'm going to the next place so I really like this rug will mark it and here are our samples so it has like the beige beige gold running.

Through it and then it looks great, our sofa is that gray-green color. I mean, the only problem is that it's still a light color, but it's not a fuzzy white fluff, it gets dirty so fast and it's also on great sale right now. of their rugs, so this is the ivory Emily sweater rug and it's five by eight. I really like it and it's wool polyester, so this one can be cleaned and it will last forever because it's wool polyester. It is definitely a good decision to get rid of any fiber. that was and the lint so it doesn't get dirty and even if it does we can clean it up good so now we are in my room there are a couple of problems with my bed let's start from the mattress and work our way up.

They have a calm mattress it's a great mattress but it's very firm they have a one hundred day return policy day one hundred and five Romeo and I looked at each other and said Wow my back hurts I really don't like this mattress and I days later like this which today we're going to fix that with a mattress protector so the second problem is our sheets so I bought these sheets from home goods and I really liked the color the threads are starting to pull and it's starting. to make pills there is 100% cotton so possibly that is the reason why it does that and it only cost about thirty dollars so we will look for something that is of better quality, maybe not cotton and the third mistake is that I have had it since so long ago.

I remember wanting a big puffy cloud like a bed. Okay, so we have one more thing to change in this room and that is these pendant lights. I love them, but it looks even more so. Let me go get it. This might be my favorite DIY, my favorite secondhand toy I've ever owned. done and if you haven't seen it you should so we found these old Koda carousels at the thrift store for about a dollar and turned them into hanging lights so many of you are wondering how or what's the best way of hanging pendant lamps. light and sometimes you can do a whole style on the ceiling to hang a larger scale pendant light for these in my

bedroom

.

I really wanted them to look like sconces or wall hanging lights so I bought these brackets from Amazon and then just these pendant lights that have a fabric cord from Amazon and then you just string on whatever pendant lampshade you have. I just need to slide this entire pendant light, cord and all, through the center hole. I'm going to fit like a glove and these are LED Edison bulbs that don't give off a lot of heat which is always a good thing and then I tie a knot in the thread to secure it to the wall brackets so it doesn't keep spinning so I stayed pretty .

I'm tired last night after making all these changes, so it's the next day and we're in my

office

, so there's no real bug in this room itself. There's just something I found that I really love. I found this rack after a wool flea market. in January and couldn't pass it up, but seventy dollars for it. There are a couple of places I want to fix where the rattan is coming off, but this is super easy to fix here and then on the feet too. The bedroom is the best room to place this shelf. I love my mirror over there, but this area here is the best place for it and then we'll move the couch a little bit to make enough. depth so you're not sitting next to the bookshelf and we have plenty of space to do that and then my nice mirror.

I am redoing our bathroom again where this can go in the hallway. I have other places for a mirror and I don't I don't have another place for that shelf, oh okay, so to fix those little pieces of rattan, I think I'll use some e6000 glue from my glue drawer here and wrap it again a little bit and then once you've got the glue on. If you lack patience like me, you can use some painter's tape and apply the glue there and then just tape it down and that will hold it in place while the glue dries, so when it comes to styling this, I have everything. of this yarn that is overflowing its bin and I need them to be pretty colors and I think they will look really pretty on the shelf so I'm going to arrange them all by color and put them together and then I have some baskets that have been collecting from Goodwill, like this that maybe the rest of the yarn could be balled up in this basket, so I really want this cabinet to be useful because I'm often referring to access to a lot of specific DIY supplies.

This fabric bin is overflowing and it's always hard to get into because there's another basket on top, so I took out all the ones I use a lot and folded them nicely so it looks a little more presentable than just throwing them away. fabric here, but I use them a lot as backgrounds for my videos, so it would be nice to have them. I really want a place for all my design magazines and the catalogs that I get because sometimes I get catalogs and I find a really cool piece that maybe I want to put in a room and I frame it and then I have all these catalogs all over the house, so I think it would be a really nice place to stack them together and the straighter you can stack them on a shelf, the more presentable it will look, so it will be functional and pretty.

I think I've been way up here with a plant and now I have a place for this really pretty bookshelf that I just couldn't.
