May 24, 2020
Hey guys, in today's episode, I'm back at the warehouse with over 300 cars. When I came in last time on my way to Bitzerini, I saw this 1967 Corvette Stingray 427 and it needs help, based on what I found. Outside of ownership, it hasn't moved in over 30

years

, meaning it's literally been here for over 30

years

. If you look inward, you would have to agree that that would be the case. There's a lot going on there, so we're. We're actually going to take this out, there's a hose in there that we hooked up and we figured out that we're going to give it a healthy

wash

and see if we can bring it back to life, so I'm really excited for a lot more things to come.

Seeing someone using the brand that I built for so many years, so thank you for doing it, without further ado. Take a look at this incredible restoration from start to finish. The car is absolutely phenomenal. I hope you enjoy it after closely inspecting the vet to get a game plan. For my detail, step number one was asking if I could turn on the switches without electrocuting myself. Now keep in mind that this is a different warehouse than bitsarini, so we have a little more light, adequate space, and a nearby sink that can be connected. to a hose, so life is pretty good below, Dan and I pushed the vet out of his resting place and into a makeshift

wash

ing area on the other side of the warehouse.

First we removed everything inside that wasn't bolted down and for those of you who are about to leave a comment, we didn't remove the seats because I was traveling and didn't have all my tools in case of a major problem such as You can see, the mats needed to be removed along with a few other items, including a toilet. Dan then quickly vacuumed up the little pieces to get a better idea of what we're working with behind the seats. We actually found some egg grains from a furry friend, but the interior was in surprisingly good shape overall now as we were.
Preparing for the initial sweep phase, Dan noticed a few more pieces of paper stuck in the door hinge that seemed like it would never end. Once he finished removing the paper, he continued with what we call a sweep or an initial sweep. Now this is an initial Quick Vacuum to get a better idea of what's going on in the car and how the material reacts to what we're doing. Plus, we like to prevent all this junk from getting trapped in the shampoo machine and clogging it in the future. Step while doing the initial sweep I used ammo, soaped up an interior brush and threw down plush towels to remove most of the dirt and mildew on the seats then we continued the same process on the rest of the interior on the steering wheel we used a scouring pad and foam to remove the years of cake.
Look at the before and after, a completely different color and texture was revealed. We repeated the steps in the tight spots inside, which took so long that I actually forgot about the camera. I was shooting and set up an interior light directly in front of the lens. Sorry, once the initial sweep is complete, phase two is to use a 50 50 mixture of distilled white vinegar and water along with a steam machine to clean any remaining mold. and mold type odors with a few sprays of 50 50 on the vinyl type material seats. I wrap the steamer head with a microfiber towel to remove the hard bristles from the equation, as I just want the heat from the steam to increase the cleaning ability. of the mix, if you are working in teams like me, then have the other person clean the hot seats immediately.
These particular seats have a lot of intricate seams or parts that trap dirt, so we used the sniper nozzle to blow away the dirt before drying it again, I repeated the same process on the rest of the plastic vinyl and the buttons on the dash. Phase three was working on the rugs,

first

I sprayed Ammo Shag fabric cleaner and let it soak for two minutes, then I used the steamer again but without microfiber towel wrap and gently shook the rug to get the dirt out. surface, then immediately followed up with another long pile spray and a quick scrub with a soft bristle brush to help loosen the crunchy fabric before shampooing with our portable little green professional.
Heat, this did not actually produce hot water, so the steam engine carried a heavy load with respect to hot water. In this case, we repeated the same steps on the back seat area and clearly, as you can see, it definitely needed to be shampooed. and the tank filled with pitch black sewage as we ended up with the interior looking and smelling 100 better. Now it's time to focus on the engine bay and allow a few hours for the carpet to absorb because this is an older vehicle we are keeping. Using the steam method here to minimize the amount of water used, the goal was to remove mold and greasy texture, which would liven up the appearance a bit before heading to its new home with the upgraded motor now starting the heavy lifting on the outside.
To do this, safely inspect the paint closely for scratches, rock chips, peeling paint, or other problems that can be exacerbated by even a gentle wash. We then filled our foam aerators and our buckets with filtered water, ammo foam for the paint, and raw ammo specifically for the wheels and then set them aside once our tools were ready. Dan and I put a thick layer of foam over the paint to soften and gently remove the

first

layers of dirt. Allowing them to sit for a few minutes can be helpful, especially on very old paint surfaces because you can remove the dirt without a lot of agitation. notice the brown color of the foam after a few minutes as it goes down and comes off the paint, even the edge starts to show signs of life again after a few minutes we add another layer.
As we could see, it was working well on the paint and we allowed it to stay even longer while we concentrated on the wheels. Be sure to use a stiff bristle brush on the gum to remove any built-up dirt now, as your vet can see. dirty it's in pretty good shape after sitting for so many years, then I rinsed off the layers of foam and during this process I could almost feel and hear the paint, ah, it just started breathing again and the paint started popping and the car just Almost It went up 10 inches, it just looked and felt so much better and all the trash fell to the floor.
It was a fun time during this whole process, then we gently agitated the stubborn dirt from the paint with the double-avoiding microfiber towel technique. dipping or re-dipping wash gloves in dirty water and then scrubbing the paint again, we also use our interior brushes to clean around and between the emblems and then scrub the mats before rinsing once more, at this point we lather up the paint and then we wash We rub it and it looks a thousand times better, but there are some grease stains everywhere here, on this side of the hood, on that side and certainly here and on the glass, so you can wash it until your eyes fall off eyes. and your hands fall off, you're not going to get them off, you have to use a degreaser that we have here directly for greasing, use it on the glass and the paint here, what you want to do is let it sit.
I don't know 30 seconds or so, but what I like to do is take my glove, just rub it and see if it comes off. If it starts to come off, you can clean it immediately. You don't want to let it sit forever, but This is a really good example of using the right product at the right time, so once it comes off, which it does here pretty easily, which is great, we'll dry it and we will polish, and i think we will be a free home this looks pretty good now most of the spots were removed immediately while others took a little longer the goal is to work slowly and fix the problem in small parts at the same time think in archeology, not in demolition, small brushstrokes, not just dynamite If your goal is to preserve paint, which it always is and should be for all detailers, now glass, although unruly, is still something easy to fix because a sheet A long-handled razor will cut through the stain quickly, especially if it is surface contamination and not subsurface etching or staining.
To do this, hold the blade at about a 45 degree angle, add lubrication and then scrape gently. If done correctly, the glass will look perfect with no scratches or indentations. We then dried the paint with microfiber towels, revealing a clean but marked or faded paint, which is expected to require compound and polishing after so many years to restore it to its former glory before polishing. If you find dried dirt that was not removed with degreaser, you can use a plastic razor blade to gently lift and remove before mixing the paint for the test point, we are using a microfiber cutting pad and a dual action polisher. powerful, first prime the pad with your compound by hand to cover all the fibers, then blow the pad with compressed air or rub with a microfiber towel once you're done with that, then add two dots of compound and perform a technique fast cutting.
The cutting technique involves quick side-to-side movements to gently remove the top layer of dried paint or, in my endless analogies, think of It's like dead chalky skin, the microfiber pad lifts the dead skin off the surface so you can See what you're really working on and then take appropriate steps to preserve or restore the paint, in this case now with the top layer removed, then you can slow down your arm and focus on removing the imperfections for those of you who really want to. get nerdy like super incredibly nerdy about the details and all the techniques and want to see some behind the scenes footage.
I actually started another channel. It's called ammo nyc studio now this is going to take place in my new training center what I call a studio it's going to have live streams we're going to have podcasts we're going to have all kinds of stuff but this is really focused more on the pros or the A guy who is crazy and wants to know every little detail. We will have longer episodes now that the building is still under construction. This is a dream come true for me. It took me almost a year to build it and we're not done yet, but please.
Subscribe and see the behind-the-scenes tour of the new facility and all the cool things we're going to do. The link is above, after just one pass on our test spot you can already see that the paint is reacting well to the correction and we were on the right track, so from there it was time to listen to my audiobook and Spend a few hours restoring and preserving the original painting. When I get closer to the hood, I can see that there was a small spot of dirt stuck on from earlier. day that wouldn't budge so I left it there for the compounding stage which actually removed it pretty quickly but once you do you should immediately blow out the pad or replace it completely as it is now contaminated and can potentially cause paint damage if not then cleaned with a new pad.
I worked on the black hood which had some crow's feet and a lot of swirls. After one pass the squirrels came off easily but the paint looked whitish or blurry under the lights but after a second pass I buffed. Depth and clarity was restored left to right after an hour or two, the paint was restored and now it was time to focus on the chrome. Well, we are third on the

stingray

detail and of course one of the last steps that I like. What I do is clean the chrome. Now I have some polishchrome here. Normally I would just take a microfiber towel, a few dabs, you can apply it by hand, etc., but when you have so much chrome all over it and it starts to chip a little.
One of the things I like to do is take a three-inch buffer using an old microfiber cutting pad. Take some of your favorite chrome polish. Apply it. It doesn't have to be pretty. In this case. Put on your glasses. Basically what you did there was you saved yourself ten thousand arm movements, especially when you have a lot of chrome like this. Here now we picked up a ton of little bits that are starting to rust, so if you have a three inch and you have a microfiber cutting pad, especially an old one, use your favorite chrome polish and it actually recovers pretty well for those of you. who have ever polished a chrome wheel by hand.
Know if you can use a machine in these tight areas. Your hands, knuckles, and joints will thank you later; However, with smaller pads comes a smaller surface area that fills with debris much faster, so you will need to blow on the pads more frequently to maintain the same cleaning effectiveness. We repeated the same steps in what I felt. like endless chrome bumpers and moldings around the vet, now the combination of all these little details is what brings the overall condition of the vehicle back to life. Keep any parts sticking out and sticking out like a sore thumb against the restored parts, so do your best to allocate enough time to work on these smaller areas.
Next up was glass for old, stained windows, or really any window. I use a scouring pad and window cleaner to cut through the grease before using a squeegee. At this point, this seems to be the most effective. method, but glass, as we all know, is incredibly frustrating in the cleaning process because there is no forgiveness, so I am always playing with new techniques and will let you know if I find something more effective later. I finally vacuumed and touched up the interior while Dan applied a mud tire ammo dressing to the rubber, which was gone in a matter of seconds, so a few more coats need to be added to the super old rubber.
Finally, I applied the new ammo reflection to the paint and let it cure for about an hour. hour before adding a light coat of cream car wax for incredible light reflection, especially on the voluptuous, cockpit-like rear of this incredible era in

corvette

history. Once we were done we could really appreciate the huge difference between the before and after, well guys, it's all done and the car looks absolutely amazing now. We spent probably seven almost eight hours on this and the before and after is probably the biggest I've ever seen on any car I've done, there were some serious stains.
Here we had to use a lot of degreaser and of course we polished it. Now, from what I understand, this car hasn't been moved in 33 years, which is crazy, but it's amazing, at the same time, we were very happy that Dan and I brought it. This thing is back and the best thing is the owner is actually selling it so I'll put a link in the description below and you can get more information, contact them and find out how much it is. You know how much he's selling it for. etcetera, if you've seen my previous video when I did the bitzerini, we have a ton of cars that need to be finished, so if you see one that you think you'd like me to do, leave a comment below first and I'll do it.
Try to resolve that with the owner and say: Hey, can we do what the fans want done first? As always, thanks for watching Dan and I are completely exhausted and have a ridiculously long drive home, but it was worth it. The car is so beautiful thanks for looking, see you next time.
