Final Mods For The Abandoned FC RX7 Project + Test Rips!(It's Honestly Pretty Amazing!)

Feb 27, 2020
Alright, so the

abandoned

LS FC needs a little more work to completely fix it. We took it to the complex and found some problems fixed, some of them, one of them was the front wheels rubbing, we put in some spacers, we got clearance everywhere and no more rubbing on the lower control arm. I put on some new tires that I had left over from the Miata, so that was good and we did some other things to its tires to fix the problem with the rear differential that kept sliding up on the front mount. and polish the driveshaft joint and stuff, but the last thing and really the most important thing to take care of on this car is a few, but the most important thing is the wiring, the wiring under here is a rat's nest.

I have the car like this. I didn't really do anything. I wanted to fix it. I was going to leave it, but I've had some problems and it's very difficult to diagnose because it's a mess and yes, I want to fix it. I also want to fix it. change the seat. I have a new, nicer seat. I'm going to have to build a bracket for the seat and then those gauges basically don't work, one is wide band and the other is an oil pressure gauge and the oil pressure if it moves. that mess of wires down there are jumping everywhere with pressure, so yesterday I took these Auber gauges out of my LS Miata, so now I have a Holley digital dash in there, so I don't use them anymore, so we have oil. pressure coolant temperature I have to take the sensor out of the Miata and then place the plug on this head where the sensor is on the Miata.

We have a coolant circuit while we're tinkering with the cooling system we're going to have to Really, I need to change that one in there is leaking so yeah anyway just got a handful of things to finish for those of you who wonder about the structure of the enemy. Yes, it's dark, we're starting late. The parts will be here. in a day or two, but I want to finish this because I want to take it to the complex, drive some more and spend more time sitting before the next clutch competition takes the LS Miata to compete, so yeah, that's the plan Stanley , so the first thing we need to do is get this out of the way and start sorting out this wiring mess, it should be fun.

Well, the first thing we can do is essentially remove this panel, like I said, we're removing these meters. I'm going to make a new panel for the new gauges and I want to try to cover all of this, but we'll get there, we'll get there one thing at a time, so let's move this down to my rear switch panel, okay, I just want to make sure we have a photo of what this looks like before, so if it really goes well we can compare it to the after, but there are so many weird things like they have a wire that goes to this little distribution box and then a bunch of things coming out of here without fuses individual cables or anything, just one cable feeding a bunch of things and stuff like that and then you know, all these cables are tied up here, so I'm going to try to unravel this. just complicated, there's a lot going on under here, because of how simple it is, yeah, turn left, maybe I don't know what that is, it says: Oh, reverse lights, we don't need them where we're going, yeah, okay , I will do that. take a minute, go through this, start sorting it out, okay, this is where we are, I got some things out of me, there's so many silly things like this, like this is a terrain and it's all this, this whole corrugated section is a terrain and it's just for something that's not being used this goes for the arc switch panel, but I can just run it where my other ground is and put my real ground up there and get rid of all this nonsense and then like I said, I've got this thing , really the only thing I'm using here are the brake lights, so I think it's probably going to be a couple more things, so instead I'm going to replace them with this to have power for this. which will just click when we click on and then basically it will turn on this whole little board with all these little swords, four fuses with the users, so everything will be on Julie, so if, for example, something happens and produces a short circuit in one, it doesn't.

I'm going to delete everything in that loop, which is a lot of stuff currently, so yeah, anyway, I'm looking into this and trying to clean it up and organize it as best I can. There are some things we're going to have to sort out. leaving, yes, like turning left, turning right and this. I'm going to leave them here in case you know that if I ever get rid of this car and someone wants to make it a tram or more street friendly with turn signals, they can add them, but I don't need them. I won't be driving this car on the street except for the

test

session, so yes, I want to mount my obd2 port, probably somewhere around here anyway, clear things up.
I'm telling you Florida weather was 80 something yesterday and last night I woke up this morning I'm totally cold in the house I walk outside 48 degrees oh man what a time to be alive so I have most of the wiring done , you can see it now, so we have everything. the turn signal stuff we don't use here anymore, we just zip tied it neatly out of the way, I mounted the obd2 port for when I have to plug in HP tuners, I want to cut that ground and shorten it, it's like a loop. like ten times totally unnecessary I mean we have our secondary relay for our fans so basically the way I set it up is a relay board switch panel so when I turn on the fan the power from the relay is the only one fan and then I just have a small trigger wire that goes to the second relay to power the other fan, that way I don't have to use two switches.
I'm not on this little fuse panel here, so that's going to be my ignition power, so when I turn the ignition on whatever I took; that will come on, so the only thing I have on right now is the brake lights, but yeah, I still have to clean it, hold it down and route it here, but it's mostly neat, the whole ship was taken out, it came down, we just have the What we need, we're ready to go, so the next order of business is your gauges and coolant circuit. I'd rather this thing dump all the coolant so we can First we'll take the plug off of this and then we'll take out the sensor.
There you go, oh, it's windy out here, guys, good shock absorbers, you haven't put in shock absorbers and they make them for your car. Get up, oh, it's cold. I said it's like 48 degrees, which is the equivalent of below zero in Florida, I have to find the right wrench for that, okay, wasn't it that tight? Come on honey, tighten your fingers for me, loosen your finger, loosen, tighten your fingers when you're taking something off. I guess a loose finger would make more sense, but I've never heard anyone say anything, the finger screams, it's hard to get to this thing, a header here, we have to put thread tape on this bolt.
I think this time I'm ready, I have my copper. The washer received my thread tape, oh that was a lot, that doesn't cool the water, but still okay, cool, lower it with a real ratchet, so we think we're good. They harassed our sensor like this guy. I hope the cable comes from here. aside, there should be water left over, one thing you shouldn't waste on your hose clamps, all the cheap hose clamps I've received are basically single use, as you can see the little screw just came out of this one and now it's useless, so buy nice hose clamps at least if it's something important.
Okay, the next thing we need to do here is the oil pressure sensor, so I had this really weird gauge here, it's like this one wire sensor and a Pratt all over it. place see 120 0 20 50 like everywhere you can see the wire right there that green wire so anyway we need to take that sensor out and put our new sensor in but it's back here between the intake manifold on the firewall, you can see it right there. Maybe I can reach him. I'll try. Most likely the easiest way to do this is to at least take off the intake manifold and move it forward and now like I have it. there's a lot of room to get to it because this pinch weld here is like really in the way that's the last thing you're doing here changing that sensor so we have our oil pressure and coolant temperature on the engine guy, John, very okay, new sensors in so you know, we just have to plug it in, we're on the wire and that wiring in the car and reinforce it and turn the manifold back on with ease, okay, we've got both gauges on the engine, well, it'll press the temp. from the coolant and then we have them going through the firewall there, we have our cables here to the coolant temperature gauge.
I just left it plugged in when I took it out of the Miata. I want to connect both, we'll use this to power them and yeah. I want to hook them both up and get them working before we start doing our dish here and putting the dash back in and all that, yeah the meter is all wired up and working. It always takes me a minute to remember what to do. this is a little bit of pressure, this is the temperature of the coolant, so the controllers are all the same, but how do you like it, where do you put the cables?
It basically changes depending on the sensor and then you have to go in here and configure the parameters for that sensor, whether that is. 10 bars, five bars, etc., it always takes me a minute to remember what settings I need anyway, but we have them working. Now it's time to get our board back and finish this, put our board back in and then we can start making our panel here. Okay, the board is back, we don't have any more mess down here. I mean, there are some cables, but you can't really get rid of the cables, but everything is simple and neat now.
Everything is easy to diagnose. Nothing is too long. like poll lists like I'm happy with that I'm happy with that so yeah the dash looks good back here yeah the fans are working we've got our little fuse box down here our gauges are working so now all we have to do is just build a panel here for our two gauges on our kill switch should be

pretty

easy so let's measure it and cut a piece right so our opening isn't the same size from top to bottom it's a little bit smaller at the top, so I have to bend these corners, sorry, I have a move, yes, you guys are in the way.
I have a little extra space on this side, but that's as close as I'd like to get for this sweet thing. Now we have to figure out how to assemble and make our gauge. mount the holes and then our hole for our kill switch, we are ready to go. I think that's all we need to assemble, there's my gauge cluster bezel. Really all that needs to be right, what's left to discover is exactly how I want it. mount it on this, you may have to self-drill it, but there's not much meat there. I don't know, there's really no good way to set it up without getting really fancy and building some crazy support system that doesn't try to do it all. that, so I don't know, I'll try to figure it out, set it up, do it, we can move on to the seat.
I want to get this drug addict out of here and set up his new flare that I have for it. Okay, if something works, oh man, I wish I had a better method of attaching it to the dash here, but the plastics just destroyed the one piece of metal that tried to go in and broke, so, yeah, they didn't quite do it. works for all of us, i already did it, let me turn these fans off, they don't need to be on, check it, oil pressure, cooling, temperature, kill switch ready to go, that's it, we need some pressure and cooling.
I mean, I'm happy with this, it definitely doesn't look very good. Maybe if I have to take it out, let me turn it off if I have to take it out for an extended period of time. I almost want to do it now. Black it out or at least spray paint it black, sure it's not a big deal on the aluminum look with the black, but this is a via car. I have to keep reminding myself that beater cars get beater parts. I should make sure it says the beater parts on the beater cars are fine, they cool well.
Sun looks a little cleaner with the gauges and also runs excitingly in the perfect obd2 port spot, so getting there once that stick has become a no less addicted piece of junk, the next thing I want to do is to take out this seat and try to take out my other seat there they are going to make new supports or they will just adapt it to this seat support that we have here. We have a much better seat. This seat is a very old crazy s13 that I bought a long long time ago and it was beat up then I drove around I let someone drive my car they wrecked that car and this seat was in that car when it was wrecked so I'm sure it's bent to some extent and I just hate this seat.
I have always done it. I hated this seat, so anyway we have this one, which is just a new seat, it's the same style. I really don't like themthese seats with structure. I prefer a fiberglass cube, but I sat in this one, it's quite comfortable, so it's definitely an improvement. on top of that, so we just have to figure out how to place it, you know, which I'm going to do. I'm going to put this seat in there, set it on the ground and see how it looks height-wise, because with the way the others are I highly doubt we'll fit in a helmet.
I should have tried it, but I feel like our heads are going to hit the roll bar, so we need to lower the seat if possible, so it would be better to start from scratch with this tilted backrest. Let's definitely work so let's build our own small and very simple brackets basically let's go straight out of the front angle and go down to the factory brackets in the back we'll probably just go straight out of the holes straight down okay this shouldn't be so terrible. to work, you know what? Since I won't do it if I finish lifting the seat beforehand, let's clean this up real quick, let's get all this junk out of here, clean it up, vacuum it up and get this over with because this is this. things, but if you watched the drift video, you heard that it just flies well.
Baggett is bored.terrible so let's clean him up and put on some gloves. I don't know what's here. Well, that was quite satisfying. It's not spotlessly clean, but it's much cleaner than many others. Which is good because these cars are everything and it's very simple. I like to keep it neat and simple, well I've been a bit stuck and by doing this you can see the three holes by trying different seating positions. I was going to make it adjustable, but yeah, I don't feel like dealing with all that, but anyway. we have our two front supports, we'll attach them with a cross bar and then our rear will be really simple, essentially like a cross bar bolted on and then two side bolts.
I think we can get away with screwing it into the sides. I don't know that well, I'm going to try it again and then we'll see what we can do with the back, but the front is almost done, we'll have to drill the holes in the right place and bind them. together, but other than that, the front is almost finished, it fits well, I have it on the right. Bye, okay, tomorrow I just have to get some hardware with big washers to put on the back here for the rear bolts. We left the cooling system, let's take this. for a quick trip and we're done, so I'll see you in the morning for that, but as the night ends, it's late, I see it's half screwed, yeah, it's definitely in a good place.
I think my head. Oh, that's weird, the cage with the helmet is going to be tight, man, I wish the tits were a little lower, but I can't take off the pad. We'll see, but it definitely suits me. I'm in the right place legs-wise and moving. Make sure you get me up in the morning. You almost know I can. Don't even be mad: these

project

s are based on today because what a beautiful day, it's a perfect day. I really thought our winter was gone forever and it was only going to get warmer from here, but today it's sixty degrees, a sunny blue.
I love it. I can't, I can't be in a bad mood on days like this. I'm as happy as I can be. I took the old Supes to Walmart to pick up all of our stuff. I'm really starting to get on with this car it's so much fun to drive it's almost three hundred we always weigh two thousand eight hundred pounds good tires good grip good coilovers I love it man I love this thing I have a lot of Stillwater it's a Of those things I always need it, you know I would do something with the coin system.
I need to add water again and you distill water. I have to go to Walmart and get it. It's always a hassle. You know, it takes 30 minutes an hour a day, which kills a lot of time, so anyway, yeah, stocked up. which was kind of a shopping mission, I bought a bunch of other supplies from the store that weren't available and I'm going to go through this is like my shelf with all my fluids and things that I'll go through later today. After this video and reorganizing these things before I dive into the next

project

after the FC gets out of here, we'll dive back into building the enemy.
I will update the Indian paint and then put it on the truck. and almost everything from there, so I want to go to the store clean before we dive back into it, which makes my life easier, the last thing I did: I bought a battery for soups, I had a battery from one of the containers . split the Miatas and there isn't enough battery for the car so these Walmarts ever start pricing whatever is in there like 50 bucks a battery. I mean, it doesn't get any better than that. I've had one of my own, the Otter, for about four years, but anyway.
Enough of the gibberish, I'm going to get this stuff out, let's finish the SC and take it for a spin. A perfect day for us to try the FC to Mexico without registration, beautiful, okay, good. I didn't do a great job bringing them to the party, but the seat is bolted on. The harnesses are on, but everything fits well. I'm going to get a place. I can achieve everything well. I think we're still talking. I'm going to have To

test

my helmet, this pad is almost removable because I might try to mess with that, but let's take the sink for a spin, okay, just kidding, I think the fighting helmet cooling system cleans and plays a bit. on this bar, but that's

pretty

much guaranteed, but it's clear here, yeah, we've got some decent space and we're right where we need to be between these bars here, so it's nice that you don't have to mess with the cushion is so cool it's leading the coin system and then we're going for a drive on this beautiful day, so this is how I have to believe in the coin system, this car, I need to get one of those funnel shaped things. but I basically raised the radiator to bring the fill point above the highest point of the engine, otherwise it won't fill at all, so I put some of this Mishimoto supercooling in it that would cool this down.
Works great for my performance cars and stuff and OE stuff but I put some of that in there anyway since it's a block of iron just to help when you run on pure water and the honor and purchase is They make a lot of mess, so this helps and you need some kind of additive. of glycol some for the benefits of delubrication with a water pump, but anyway I'm going to let this warm up and warm up to open the thermostat and bleed everything and then we're going to do a cut, so there was actually no cooling in the upper and lower hose, so what I ended up doing was draining the system, taking out the thermostat, cleaning everything, putting it back together, refilling it, bleeding it and now we are men with the fans on. go down to 140 I want to get to 200 turn on the fans in cruise go down to 140 sitting here so just like the Miata Miata will go down more than that if I let it sit with the fans on so sweet baby we tune up our cooling system.
The last thing we're going to do to drive really fast Matt Happel, my sloppy mechanic friend sent me a tune file with just a few changes because he had a bone tune file here like he was in a truck whose VCM was removed. so I'll put it on and then we'll go for a walk to see Otis. You know we should put on the gloves. I get the full effect and that way, if we get stopped in Mexico, without tags, the police will think we are. We are in street racing and we will go directly to jail, so we will fine logically and we will see that it is much more comfortable, we are in my wallet.
Wait, would they stop you? I should at least have some identification. It feels great, where is it? my helmet outside with my Vegas, well, value your CV increase as you should see the angle ready, oh yes, good ear. Diaries on, we have our angles figured out, no more refining them, good luck, it's working, although the electrical powers I have to take off. I feel like that. a loser, although the electric steering pump has been working very well, the steering feels super smooth, it doesn't feel smarter, the assistance and different is white, I really like it, average, everything, like a good pressure gauge of oil is working again both bands are working stealing a bit from the office the fans are smashing oh yeah I'm stoked for a few days working basically for no real money we got this for being pretty junk not that it's still not junk even quite junk, half decent, so SiC did everything we wanted to finish I like how simple and clean this car does not clean, but simple, this car is very minimalist, you know, oil pressure, coolant temperature, that's it, it doesn't need anything more, keep it simple, one seat, you know, I don't know.
I'm very, very happy with how everything went in preparing this for the compound and now it's ready for another compound ride which we will again do before the next clutch round, which I'm very excited to get more seat time before. in the next competition and we will be able to drive this more hopefully, at least with the problems that we know I have solved. I'm sure more will come up, as always, but you know we fixed everything we knew we needed a fix for, so I'm excited to drive this again, but for now that'll be it for this video.
I'll see you next time thanks for watching thanks for subscribing bye.
