hey guys welcome back to my channel today i am taking you on my

bed

room

decor

ating journey it is literally the bohemian

bed

room

of my dreams and i am so excited to share it with you so without further ado i am just going to jump right into it and the first thing I'm going to do is show you where I started with my room, okay, so this is the room before I have a lot of the stuff that I had in my old room. to the right of the room there is a full wall mirror here i have mums dresser with three drawers and then i have another one of the bed frames from ikea this nightstand also from ikea i have a lamp this is just some random storage that i have and a little more storage has my filming stuff so that's it for the before now I'm going to start after everything was cleaned up I started taking all the old outlet covers off and just patched up the holes to make sure I had a really nice base to work off of then i taped off all the edges so i could start painting and i painted that gray accent wall a really nice peach nude color and it's called benjamin moore's coastal cottage and i did two coats of that just to make sure it was really opaque then i painted the other three walls a crisp white and that was a night blooming jasmine from the bear ok so we're almost done d e paint this new plate pink it's perfect and this white is the same white i use in my bathroom so we know it works im so glad i finished it. as you can see outside it's night now so i think we could try to make the bed now or we could just sleep in the living room i mean we'll find it ok so we decide to make the bed after all so we got a proper place to sleep this is our new bed frame in this little but long box we got from amazon so yeah this will be fun to put together it was literally the easiest bed frame to put together i actually couldnt believe it and probably it only took about 15 minutes to assemble it was just so quick so here is my bedroom now as i am looking at it along with some of the other stuff i got from the room it is definitely too yellow so my plan is to try and separate myself from the outer shell i hope it's like a nice raw pine color i also have the

headboard

in diy to match the bed frame and it's also made raw pine so i hope that in In general, they blend together and look like a cohesive whole.

Let's start with that. I finished the bed frame with a live wood water based youthful rain which just deepened the color a bit and I did two coats of that just for extra protection so we finished with the bed frame build and it's se looks good but you noticed there isn't a header yet and that's because my plan is to make my own and I'm going to use some cane straps that I think look great so this is the frame I'm working with. and the design is super simple it's five pieces the top piece and the bottom piece are the same size the left piece and the right piece are the same size and then the middle piece is a little bit shorter so I'll insert the dimensions probably on screen right now and this is for your standard double bed so I just lined up the pieces of wood based on where they should connect and marked where the screws should go through in the middle of the piece of wood and specifically what I marked on each side.

My whole problem is that the bit wasn't long enough to go all the way through the piece of wood, so what I did was drill one side and then flip it around and drill the other side so that each of the holes would match up with each other to create a really long hole now we have the hole on this side and the hole on the other side and this is how they can drill all the way through with a bit that is too short and yeah that's what took me forever to figure out that also tested with the big scre ws we are going to use so it has to go through the whole piece of wood and into the next one.

These are the screws I just mentioned and I'm starting to screw them in until they stick out. other side then I line it up with the other pieces of wood and press it down to create a small notch in the exact spot where the next screw hole needs to go, then I drilled a hole in that exact spot and then finished driving the screws in until it were flush with a piece of wood. I went ahead and gave the entire frame a good sanding just to smooth out the raw wood and finished it off with two coats of the same.

The same water-based youth rain. Next, I grabbed some rod straps I ordered online and soaked them in my tub of warm water for about five minutes. After the little soak, I towel-dried them and set them on top of my wooden frame. I secured the cane straps with a staple gun and added staples every five inches or Once I was done I cut off all the excess and now it's time to mount it. I used these interlocking mounting brackets I got from Amazon and attached one to each side of the

headboard

facing down and then secured. in place with wood screws as I mentioned the mounting screws on the headboard piece were facing down and then on the wall I attached two mounting brackets that were facing up and once that was done they slid into place and they locked into each other and now in i go to the nightstands so i picked up two of these ikea nesna tables and they were like twenty bucks each so they are super super affordable they are also so clean and so simple looking so i bought one for the left and right side of my bed and i love how they look below i decided to make another one of my diy tassel sconces for my ikea diys video so if you want to see the details i will have it linked below , but basically I wanted to add one to each side of my bed to add some nice lighting and also some visual texture once these were hung I took an empty mechanical pencil so there was no lead in there and just combed the tassels to they looked neat and ready to wear and i totally forgot about my rug which was overstocked so i had to get everything out of my room unroll my rug and put everything back and now that i'm done i can move on to dyeing my dressing table ok so this is my existing ikea dressing table i've had it for six years and it's pretty basic and i just wanted to spruce it up my idea of a DIY update is to cover it with fabric it's almost like muslin but it has these little specks which i thought were very nice guys i haven't seen anyone else do it online so i'm really stepping in the dark as to whether this is going to work so wish me luck with this let's get started right now so i started by removing all three drawers and ended up taking the whole thing apart, I just estimated how much fabric I would need for each section and then cut the fabric to the next measurement.
I gave each piece of fabric a quick iron before starting and then to place on the dresser. I finished. using this e6000 spray glue but what i really realized afterwards is that a paste type glue like mod podge would have worked much better but i basically just sprayed it on and then used a brush to make sure there was a light coat all over. i quickly laid the material down and smoothed it all out with my hands for some trickier spots and edges i sprayed adhesive on the drop cloth then dipped my brush into the adhesive to apply it all over the dresser update on the dresser i got this far i did the drawers and now i'm kind of putting this panel stuff i've done on this side too but i figured i should probably take the rest of the dresser apart and that would make my life a lot easier because then i can j It's like sliding these parts out without having a big headache so i'll try to disassemble it now completely so i'll let you know if that goes any better and disassembling the whole thing was definitely the right call he did it like this. much easier I also ended up using hot glue to finish off the edges which had cork on the back and also for some of the other hidden seams ok this is where we are with the vanity so far I really like it love the fabric that is on top is super natural it adds a nice texture and dimension to the piece now the last step i am going to do to fully customize this dresser is to add some drawer pulls to it so i got these drawer pulls from amazon they are very cute these drawer pulls are actually kind of fun so they are in three pieces this is one piece which is the plate and then it comes with the screw and this little ring the problem is the screw that comes with it is not what long enough for the dresser but i have a solution on that it's actually one of my biggest hacks so i'll show you that hack right now we're going to install the drilling posts so the first thing i did was figure out where the little drawer pull should go and then i marked a little dot in the center of each one of them i went ahead and added a piece of painters tape to the front and back of each of those little dots and this is very important so the fabric doesn't tear and then i drilled a pilot hole with a small bit and then swapped it out for a larger bit which is actually a little bit bigger than the width of the screw head then removed the tape on the front and I added more pieces of tape on the back although I didn't It doesn't show on camera this is a really important step so guys this is the lifesaver trick I have for you it's called the best and when it dries up basically locks things in place so i applied it to each hole then quickly. placed on the drawer pull i secured each drawer pull in place with some painter's tape and then waited for it to dry for eight hours and just like that guys the drawer pulls are glued in place and i finally got a piece of glass cut into home hardware to sit on top of the dresser and I just sanded the edges down so it's safe to touch now to add a bit of

decor

and storage I picked up this really beautiful cane basket from h m home and am using it for keep one of my spare takeaway blankets on top of my dresser i bought this big bamboo mirror for only twenty nine bucks from home sense or homewares if you're in the us some grass from campus i cut while I was in a park in the suburbs.
I also picked up this little dollar tree vase that I also painted with some chalk paint and placed right next to it now on the left hand side I'm actually using this DIY bag that I made out of a placemat in one of my pre videos above and I'm using it to get a nice texture. I'm also using this little vase I made in one of my recent dollar store DIY videos that I made out of wood dowels and finishing it off with some eucalyptus. which i got from michaels and the finishing touch for my vanity here i am adding is this cute little candle below i wanted to add some art to the wall so i bought these prints on etsy for only 13 for this set of them and i just printed them online at staples and then i framed them in these cheap frames from michaels and right next to my prints i added this nice macrame piece i had in my last apartment now in the corner of my bedroom i added this new wicker chair from Homesense that I picked up and to place on top I added this unique strut tube tufted pillow now above the chair I decided to create a little basketball hoop out of hoops I found at the thrift store I just hung them on little pegs and it was actually a super affordable and easy w ow to do wall art now I move on to bedding so on the bed I'm wearing these white shea from walmart and then ad On top of that I'm using this linen duvet cover from h m home and by the way h m sells the most affordable bedding duvet sets I found because I searched everywhere and on the subject of bedding I wanted to do some linen pillow covers so i bought fabric online in three different neutral colors i measured 21 by 21 inches for the front of the pillow and then for the back of the pillow i made two 14 by 21 inch pieces and just to show you guys how it's going to be put together so i have the front piece on the bottom and then one of the back pieces on the left and then one of the back pieces on the right and here you can see how it's going to create a little pocket mechanism now to finish the two back seams I turned over the small edge and made a straight stitch all the way down and then pinned the front and back of the pillow together and then sewn all the way around with a straight stitch leaving a quarter stitch. ligh from the edge and then to create the frayed edge I basically started pulling the raw edges little by little I ended up using a seam ripper as well to make it easier once I was done I did one more line of stitching all the way through and filled it in with an old pillow insert that was hanging around.
I love how personable and professional they turned out. Actually, it seems thati bought them from a legit store and then this last pillow isn't really one. i made is a nice velvety one i got from h m home and then finally the last touch to my bed that i am adding is this nice coverlet that is also from h m and now to decorate my nightstands for starters i got this book second hand which had a really nice hardcover under the paper cover, it's nice and golden, so I put it on the second shelf. I also added in this second book, which is simply a book that is covered in cloth that I chose. on top of this terra crib a planter that is from HomeSense and it was on sale which means it was a bargain and then inside I added this fake plant from ikea that I had from my last apartment the last piece I will add to this nightstand is this vintage german designer glass phase or maybe its a mug not sure but either way it was for only 2.99 at the thrift store and it has the most unique shape i really love it and then for my other coffee table night I picked up this second hand terracotta bowl with pretty wicker accents on tan which I absolutely love.
I topped it off with this cute chandelier and chandelier that is from ikea and then finally this little faux asymmetrical plant that is from HomeSense and then the final piece that I am adding to complete my entire room

makeover

this leaf plan faux violin and so guys my room is complete guys I can't believe this is how the room turned out it's literally better than I pictured in my head and every moment that happens I'm so shocked so thank you so much for everyone who has watched so far thank you for subscribing and leaving those sweet comments that you guys make motivates me so much makes me so happy a ok thank you so much if you haven't already please visit me on instagram.
