Event Report: National MicroCar Rally 2019 - with show car reveal!

Jun 06, 2021
Well, good morning from the inter

national

microcar

rally

. There it is very difficult for us to point out things in a mirror image that we take. She finds herself and spent the night with a pair of True Bonds, a rare p50 of the above type and a very early 601 that I might take a look at later, the most important and exciting news is that Chuck has a friend from Invacare, this it's mhj 22 P belongs to my friend Mark, also pretty scruffy in places, but this was the first one to get us back on track, we're back on the road in preservation so to speak. and it's another one in the limited car it also has the handlebars suddenly last stalker it has a meter lever or I'm very similar to relying on the Fox handbrake on this side since the switches are much more sensitive and an interesting cross seat belt arrangement that looks much more reassuring but otherwise very similar, it has the rear tail lights and yes, look at it a lot and today there is a route that will take us to F and we go to Wells Cathedral, that is the place that was touched up from the movie Hot Fuzz Hot Fuzz was filmed in Wells but they didn't want it to look like a cathedral city today they touched it up very interesting place I think we will also go to Breen Sands and we will be in convoy with more than

microcar

s, so sitting in the middle of what I think will become the exhibition field, is this Lloyd Alexander.

There was one in last year's video that was also a right-hand drive Mercedes van, very nice in the background too, but these ones from Lloyd Alexander. They were actually quite advanced twin cylinder engines, I think four strokes, trying to remember now and yes, very small but very well designed, that little swamp Ward, who is excited to drive a bull hall last night, very kind gentleman, let me try it but I didn't have the video kit I just drove it so it was very nice yeah lovely little cars a beautiful little Fiat 500 in the jihad at the time.

More Interesting Facts About,

event report national microcar rally 2019 with show car reveal...

Apologies to my hideous Italian property, very nice, so the straight twin engine is tilted. to the spongy life under the floor, so there's more cargo space than you'd expect for a rear-engined car. Very very pretty. Now here we have a very project mini Bond car. You haven't seen my video on how to drive a mini. car I recommend you check it out these are the crazy front wheel drive single wheel cars. This one might be a little bit once you look at it, we actually have the nose underneath, you can see it has a Honda engine, okay, that's going to be exciting, but yeah, it's a chain drive from a single cylinder engine to the front wheel, this one may be more original, you have a drag underneath, there you go, the chain is on the other side, natu

rally

, there is never a BMW Isetta hiding it in an awning, look at that. for one color, another lovely Messerschmitt and an older link they made up to Mark G, which is an older one.

I think the ATIS C was shaped that way only because there's a very nice mid-70's Ranger here, it's in excellent condition, it's not too perfect, it's kind of like that. a bit like I remember them, but in a classic form there are wonderful steel wheels, yes that is iconic, you could say Honda and 600, but it came from the Netherlands. I told him about the classic Japanese Sundays, I think even, and Patrick would like to see it. They are very nice, they have been restored quite rotten Dan, about 80,000 kilometers to chat with the carpentry shop yesterday.

I love how the taillights are placed at the back here. I love how these little grilles hint that it could be a rear engine, but no, it's an air called transverse straight twin with overhead cams that screams of an engine with a lot of motorcycle technology in a small car BMW 700 possibly the most beautiful car here Well, yeah, the microcars pile up to warm up in the cold, oh, we've got the tunes. The BMWs are taking the lead, it's nice to see the ascetic Trojans hanging out together, the little dago follows the lead. I love this.
I feel huge because all of these cars are small, so it's a sequential column shift lever on the link that you somehow touch. Going down to go through the gears and then back up to go through the gears again works great. In fact, I think it's a good way to shift gears. Sometimes it is a small two-cylinder convoy. We have an autobianchi in front of us and in the car. behind and a Fiat 500 behind, which interestingly the invar car was intended to use the two cylinder Fiat engine ended up using a much better starter for each unit, so here we are at Glastonbury or some of the micro cars which are nice to park quite well , so I've got a small selection of Barclays Trojans behind me and a lone link in the distance wondering where all these linked friends are.
Tremendous scenes later we have a bond with an Isetta and I never find that we meet here outside Glastonbury Abbey, the ruins of it. to the BMW 711 sectors, so I'm pretty sure I have a photo of this pair somewhere. I may have already mentioned it, but they're asking me if I can dig it up. I drove that one many years ago, oh yeah, we. We are right next to the cathedral now on our left we will find our way and I can see the micro cars already on the green so here we are at Wells Cathedral with a gathering of little cows all the governesses talk before the place Yes, the weather has changed.
A little bleak, but we're having a blast anyway and there's a little NSU prince sneaking into the lineup. It's a wonderful sight, all the little cars with the Royal Enfield 95-105 engine meant to be a bit of a rocket, oh yes, now really. It's raining, some more cars have joined us, the autobianchi from the small convoy from before in the Fiat 500, but we were followed by the little Dutchmen on the N 600. The mini bomb cars have arrived. I see they have given up and put up their roofs because They were topless before, yes, a wonderful backdrop here at Wells Cathedral, a very strange cathedral because it looks like it might have had towers or maybe they just never built them, so which is a bit squat actually, but it's a stunning and completely retouched backdrop nonetheless.
Hot Fuzz movie that was filmed in the city center which is right behind these buildings, yes I really like Hot Fuzz, in fact I see that the cars have been joined by a Trabant which looks very very powerful and it has the wide arches it seems. It has an expansion exhaust system for extra lumbar driving power in a tremendously impressive location, yes, even a little, here we walk home, here we go, then we thank the chat coach, a couple of microphones in the car for their spectacular location, go easy now, eh, jeepers. I lost a lot of bikes you idiot, well I've never been to Cheddar Gorge, think about the gay or missing place, it feels almost out of pine, now we're dissipating with the route we're going to drive back to camp, it's been a race lovely.
We leave and come back, we will simply remove the smoke, without problems, the two televisions and the Saturday race begins. A couple of 50cc shells, a museum, so here we are at the impressive Haynes Motor Museum, hitting the mics. I don't have much space, but we have small cars, at least we're just trying to fit them all in. Here is the challenge. I guess I'm going around here, but yeah, where are we going to put all of these? It will be a challenge, not all Barclays have reverse. equipment, so sometimes you have to do everything manually at least they are light Healey hundred and look at this, he left it behind.
I don't know what body day is the shell that p50 has made, if we could find somewhere to squeeze it. Oh, maybe everyone will, that's quite an achievement. I don't know how to peel. Trident has arrived, but one of them made it and we are reorganizing the little Barclays. They've put a few more in. I'm sure we can, they're small, but yeah, they cover it pretty quickly. I don't think we've seen this scooter before. A metallic purple color that looks amazing, the controls simple and this amazing setup, I hope so. that from our seat I cut out that storage shelf on the steering wheel that comes with a door.
We have a few different vehicles joining us today, including this amazing Gaga mobile van. There is little to stir again. Jim shooting and then we have a beautiful glasses mobile. Cooper, who has been helped the other way because I think so, they have a small pre-selected electric gearbox and they don't always behave better. Gorgeous real light detail. I'm going in the opposite direction to the car, but we're a little out of space here, so there you go, that's the turn and reverse, yeah, it's getting a little busy, we've got a daihatsu copen here, a lot of its setters and back calls and yes, everything is getting a little crowded, maybe they were only expecting six microcars.
I don't know, look at the B&W settlers, Liege pressed Liege Recreation in 2008, the BMW 700 again and Maury puts on the glasses. Cooper, yeah, I'm not sure how we'll all hang out again, but I'm sure we'll think of something. and where we go I feel these little monkeys because later, oh good morning, it's Sunday, it's the day of the main

show

and mhj in the plastic lineup along with The Frisky, some shells and just on the other side of the sign, the scooters, like this yes. We are all getting ready for the

show

and shine element of the

national

micro car rally so all the cars are lined up by brand so all the links are good for the popular micro car liner by making the links we have a liner scary. the Heinkel Trojans back there, the Messerschmitts forming a big line at the back and the BMW Isetta and yes others are lined up here in plastic and metal behind so we'll go for a ride, we've seen some of the cars in the camp It doesn't hurt to take a look more and this probably isn't a bad place to start.
We'll start with Vance, we have a Travie here, which was the equivalent of the Mini in East Germany. Moke, the only Trabant I've ever driven had a very brief spin at an

event

where there was suddenly no time to shoot video, but it occurs to me that I'm not sure where I'd put my camera so maybe I'll give it a try. and take a normal trip sometime after Barclay makes all the noise. They are very, very loud little sports cars and I will go see those normal returns to the miscellaneous liner. The Barclays were designed by Laurie Bond of Bond mini car fame. hence the wheel drive, which makes it very easy to switch from a four-wheeled vehicle like these two free-wheeling vehicles like this green hardtop because the front panels are exactly the same and they all have motorcycle engines of various guys, the ones that were square grills that use a shrink Royal Enfield engine, I think some of them have triples or chugging the blue, they have an Excelsior triple engine, if I think all three have twin cylinders used in others, there is a prize by shed this year's program and yes that could be a contender, it is trying to encourage people to bring their cars regardless of the condition and I totally applaud it's good to see that I have a line to put the bonuses, errors bonuses, bonus errors, nothing to do. with Bond were actually made after Reliant bought Bond, it's a great Tom Corona rival design and is based heavily on majestic fundamentals and yes, some of them are.
I'm quite curious to know how they feel modified. Lisa's aero screens deflect some of the air, yes, fantastic, mentally, great handling and unlike the real thing, we have coil springs, very well located rear axle, if that's all that's good, we have a little Tourette sitting there, I guess he'll come and join the lineup. at some point and then we have the mini Bond cars, a very good example here of the earlier style versus the more recent art. You see how wide they became when they tried to make them more familiar and tried to compete with practicality.
The mini was not very successful, unfortunately sales rather fell with a small car based on television, there is a Lomax, which is another must that we eliminated, but it seems that it had a BMW conversion because those cylinder heads are quite large and must be quite Exciting, it's a three wheeler, we've now tested King which is a replica of the original Morgan three wheeler. It's quite exciting and these noticeable little fingers, another loud bark, come by, this is new, it's done six miles. a small mg t type replica, but uses a little 50cc. I think it's a six and a half horsepower motor with a CVT and a chain drive to the rear axle.
I think we have huge brake discs on each side and a grill made from wood, it's just a specially home built called a maybug, it's quite remarkable and absolutely tiny and as you can see it's totally road legal, it's brilliant because it's another bug bomb, so yes, it peels. I quite mistakenly referred to this one as a replica but no, it's the original, it's the one Jeremy Clarkson wore on Top Gear, he drove around BBC Television Center in that very look and yesterday he drove to the Haines Motor Museum in the convoy. It's great to see and peel too.
I made the little Trident here, which is very, verybubbly, in fact, there is some ventilation, but I would say it was quite limited. They are both fifty CC, 30 miles an hour possibly, so it was very brave to drive on the Isle of Man designed road and from Mora, back home, there are, to be honest, little playful meadows next to the MB cars, very nice with many scooters designed by II, one of which is for sale if you have s

event

een thousand five hundred pounds of tandem planting that sit one after the other, oh there goes the turret, which is a replica, it is built on an oval chassis and the body was a mold taken from an original turret, there aren't many of them, they make a lovely noise, no, here comes another trophy to join the trophy liner, best time to see the show.
When they all really come in the Fiat line, we have a little bit of controversy here because we have an Autobianchi here that uses scary running gear but it's not a Fiat, the other one is the blue and the team the turquoise and the green one day now , or we'll see in a moment, what alignment they should be in and a tough question and then we have the test drive video of the rear calls for this case. I'm happy to

report

, so it was a lot of fun down here. We have a couple of Hondas. The Honda Beat joined the N 600.
Both perfectly built cars are eggs, although the N started life as the N 360 because the cake our eggs were a little tighter at the time these are built with 660 records that arrived during the 1980s Lloyd Alexander very complex a magnificent BMW 700 convertible here is the other autobianchi next to a Necker Winesburg which is a very expensive rework of a 500 you I can see that the basic body is pure 500, but it was built by NSU and yes , they didn't sell many that were quite expensive, it's a small original coupe, it's quite splendid and the rear of the autobianchi is very nice, the AC petite is just running you didn't want to start before so I'm glad the full racer is happy again speaking I see the fit seat and I can think that you can definitely see the flu in the car it happens to me with Copan's elbow curiously later the ones that don't They don't count as microcars because they came from a 660 turbo to a naturally aspirated 1.3.
A bit of work was done with the NS use here and if you found it was preferable to build your own car rather than pay, it's under license see what's going on in the Back yeah that's a P registered in CV oh well oh , what the hell is that other ass-kicking 2cv base that has a lot of style? The mini lights placed on the back are interesting live in the corner. What you will see at these events. I have a little Austin 7 which is not technically a microcar, but it is very fond of the event and we have a 2cv P registered.
I think a friend of mine used to have this one, so yeah, it wasn't registered until 1997 or thereabouts. 1996 maybe that's why it's on a P plate a pair of Reliance a little unusual and never came into a Messerschmitt lining and very very colorful, in fact they were the first to be most eager, today it was a Messerschmitt, but look this delicious sheddy, etc. Another one that's moving in is great to see, I hope if they ever restore it it won't be overly restored and there's the little Isetta van that we saw yesterday at the event, a beautiful lion, and that's, oh my god, someone just crashed their drone! yeah, I quite like the key on the back of that one, nice to see.
I said this before I knew it, but in five minutes we will really

reveal

this microcar prototype from the 80s. We move on from other vehicles on the way, here we go to help present the cool 1980. Thank you very much and I'm going to ask you for a hug, not to Ian, come forward now and

reveal

that this is a Micro car prototype developed by Mikkel T Studios based on Daihatsu cuore one floor plan and it has 550 CC so it is a proper micro car and it was their version of the car Urban car from the mid-80s.
It was introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1984 and then it was stored and has been stored in Italy since we brought it back this spring and it has been hidden away. here since then, so take it guys, there you have the Mickey Lottie package that has a lot of unusual features, very long doors but with parallelogram hinges so the door doesn't open and is left white in the parking lot, the inside is all misspelled , it's actually a fully functioning prototype even though it was the show car, so we'll turn it on in a moment and just drag it out to show you that it's a mix of fiberglass and steel body, like I say, lots of features unusual if you look at the board. is completely unique, the intention was for it to have completely electronic instruments, so they put together some dummy instruments because in 1984 electronics were in their infancy, but my son Fraser, who is here, has kindly volunteered as a developer working with electronic instrumentation that it matches exactly, but there are fictitious instruments that are there.
So at some point that will happen like in a Renault album, some unusual features in the finish, as I say, and the seats are unique and actually very comfortable, very thin, so it's the four seats complete with luggage space in the rear two-cylinder engine and to come. Take a look, can we, warrior of the heart, okay, it's where the car has stage fright, she doesn't realize, she goes, from when the Dieter Kure was still a two-cylinder lake, they are very smooth, a small engine, It has been connected to the light well and is designed by Nicola.
Pay one of my favorite stylists there's a finger of absolute beauty look at those double hinged doors for maximum cool factor I know Berkeley is off oh it's been a busy old day meeting lots of people you always have your fans we've got another shell here you know, there are quite a few shells and right at the end here a little Willem van. I believe they were built by Lambretta. I had a very loud ride through the countryside on one of those at last year's national microcar rallies and what happens? I checked out that little tiny Range Rover and that's exactly my size Range Rover.
I must admit that it fits me very well and the Daihatsu are also growing. The Coppens have been joined by a mirror ovens art OTR xx crazy cake. a 660cc turbocharged, intercooled, 16-valve four-cylinder engine, there you go, it's quite nice to see. I was enough too, so 4 wheel drive, go and look at some of the cars we got here at Seavey and the truck went to Croatia. another 2cv are a fairly original air filter assembly Austin seven and the little Reliant rebel confidence first small four-wheeled vehicle very, very tight turning circle and an engine compartment that should look quite familiar when you turn on this series followed by Mike Fox no I think it's a bit The 700 cc is originally very nice seven figure Austin h2 2cv so yeah it's been a really lovely day here at the domestic market car rally.
I missed the main day last year. I wasn't there for the main show so this is my first experience of It's been lovely, the people are amazing, very friendly people, always happy to answer questions and yes very enjoyable, we've had a couple of wonderful evenings. Organizers Malcolm and Hellena Elaine have been hard at work preparing food for many of us. It's been amazing, so I had a really great time and yeah, I'd like to thank the organizers and everyone in the microcar community, and you're never sure what's going to show up next. It's a time of great motorcycle madness, so yeah.
I must say thank you very much for watching this video at the national mocha car rally. I might do a separate video of the ride home and we'll see how it progresses and obviously subscribing is an option if you feel the need. Yes, it is a complete program. yellow link with wheels in the background there and yes, I would say thank you and see you in a future goodbye video, Excel stamp
