ETC Dimming | Straight vs Balanced Racks

If you've ever wondered about the differences between a

straight

rack setup and a

balanced

one, today we're going to break it all down for you. Imagine you now have an SR 48 rack, 48 modules and 96 circuits, if your rack is powered by three-phase power. Your main lines will enter the rack and land on three different phases, phase a B and C. Now imagine that circuits 1 to 32 are powered by phase a, 33 to 64 are powered by phase B and 65 to 96 are powered. For phase C we call this a

straight

configuration frame. Now imagine that phase A powers circuits 1 to 2 and then phase B powers circuits 3 to 4 and C powers circuits 5 to 6, then we go around and start again from 7 to 8 from 9 to 10.

B 11 to 12 at C and then back to and so on through the 96 circuits, this is called a

balanced
