ship

bound for Antarctica right here it says elegant, refined and tempting sounds like my Tinder profile years ago, this time we show you how the

cruise

really works . How do Expeditions work? We just started our hike and immediately see a 600 pound seal. It looks like me after going to an all-you-can-eat buffet and we're going to try

every

restaurant

on this

ship

, including an unlimited bets

restaurant

where they let you cook your own meat right now we're heading to our first restaurant of the day, but before we go there let me explain to you how the itinerary works for a

cruise

like this, first we start in Minnesota and then we fly. to Miami then we flew to Santiago Chile and spent the night the next day we flew 4 hours to a small city in the south of Chile called Puerto Williams from here we finally boarded the ship and the real trip could begin well guys, welcome to the first restaurant in this video It's called a restaurant, come on, how nice, a table here right next to the ocean, so what's unique about this restaurant is that this is the only restaurant on the entire ship of four that doesn't require a reservation before you come, so Which I actually put off coming to this restaurant for a long time because I thought, man, if anyone can go here, is it worth going?

You know what I mean, it turns out it's amazing, so I'm going to look at the menu right now and pick a couple. of things to show them what you get at the reservation-free restaurant on this Antarctic cruise. Alright folks, our starter has arrived and I have two appetizers and you can do that here because you can do whatever you want. You can eat until you have a heart attack and then they kick you overboard and you become friends with the sharks right here we have Fu Gua schnitzel I think it's a fruity base there's some bread on the side it looks delicious give it a little a little cut, tear off some of this bread, let's try it again and there we go, the perfect bite, cheers, the best part is that you can get it

every

day and you don't have to pay more money now with the menu there is a small section that changes every day and they have tastes from different parts of the world yesterday it was A taste of Thailand today it's a taste of Canada M Canadian cuisine right here we have seared scallops and sweet maple bacon, I mean is there more?

Canadian than that, that's the maple bacon, some tomatoes, let's try it. Oh Canada, we all know that bacon is a scallop's best friend, but with the maple in there it's even sweeter and more delicious, this is a great start. I'm going to do it secretly. Order this three more times in a row and then get my entree. Alright friends, our main course is here. Another sample of Canadian maple glazed salmon fillet. Lemon Pecan Butter Sauce. Soft peas. Potato wafers. Where are the potato wafers? They ran out of potato wafers. elimination of lettuce oh yes celery ooh is it salmon or tuna what's going on right now salmon fet I think my salmon turned into tuna but let's try it regardless it's juicy fresh and delicious it doesn't really have any tuna flavor .

It has a very meaty flavor overall, it is very tasty, so this is the restaurant, but there is much more to see on this ship. Next, what we're going to do is a complete tour of the ship from bottom to top, every floor, let's go right now. We are in level three, but level three is closed at the moment. This level is used to get off the ship and onto the zodiac boats for when we land on land. We have now entered floor four. They only have two restaurants here. a restaurant called theam, we ate there last episode, this is the only restaurant where you actually have to pay money to eat there, but you also have the restaurant we now get to on the 5th floor where they have a few different ones. stores starting with the boutique this is a fancy way of saying store I guess look, you could buy diamonds how is diamond buying going today?

It suits you perfectly then on the fifth floor we also have the photography studio this is a great place for people who are interested in photography or in improving in photography to do photography. I had too much espresso. My favorite place to go on the fifth floor Dolce Vita. This is a cocktail lounge. It's very elegant. They have live music. They have tons of different cocktails and snacks. Excellent place. I recommend it now, we are going up to floor number six. This is the floor that our suite is on, but it also has other interesting things, for example, they have a reception, they have the Expeditions desk where you can sign up for things like kayaking. the future cruises desk where you can sign up for even more cruises and then they have this here this is the show lounge this is the place for lectures about things like rocks and penguins and the best part is at the end of each day we do a deep dive where We talk about what happened that day and we talk about what will happen the next day and welcome to floor number seven, this place houses the only Italian restaurant on the ship La Tazo, let's take a look Taza es Taza I don't want to redo what I come out of the elevators.
Can we guys are we cool? The same page is not currently open. I see it's cooking. Hello how are you? This is the last restaurant we will try in this video check out this view from behind holding gu guacamole am I right? And then here you can see the zodiacs resting a little before the next mission. Out there you can see a giant Iceberg and all day long you see these things passing by you. It's really amazing and quite impressive, we only have two floors left, we are going up to the 8th floor and there is a lot of action here starting with this, this is the Panorama Lounge, it is a good place to have coffee, tea, there is a humidor where you can Humidor for cigar smoking and has some of the best views of anywhere on the ship, right across from the Panorama Lounge.
We have this, this is the pool, it's heated and there are two hot tubs, one on each side, really amazing, just beyond the pool that we have. Another restaurant, this place is called grill and they specialize in meat that is grilled at your table, but it is not Korean barbecue, this is something like stone barbecue. You'll see how it works after this tour. I'll redo it one last time. We go to the top floor, the ninth floor, and this floor has one of my favorite and most essential things that I always need when I travel and I know it is alcohol.
Well, welcome to the gym. This place is very important if you want to double the amount you can eat and drink without gaining too much weight there is a walking track outside on this floor but you can come here you can walk on this treadmill and then this is your view more than once I have been on this tape looking out this window and I see whales coming in the other room. They also have some small weights and that's good too, so they also have a spa and a beauty salon. Have you ever been on a boat and need a haircut?
This is the place too. In addition to a haircut, you can also get the most expensive massage of your life, which costs over $300, so I've been self-massaging, not like that. This is my second favorite part that isn't related to food or alcohol, so come see, okay. a little dark, they also have a steam room here so that's pretty much it. There is a room that is still the SL Library observation room. This is a great place to calm down, reflect on your life and ask yourself, why did I pay that? Was this cruise worth it? I need to look at my finances more closely to see if I can really afford this kind of thinking.
Let's be silent. This is probably the quietest place on the entire ship. They have a coffee maker. You can have some tea, relax, read and enjoy the incredible views at the bow of the boat. Lastly, this is the highest point at the front of the ship and that's the end of this tour again, it's not like a Carnival Cruise Airlines ship. Again, it's not a giant ship, it's not like Carnival, where they cram 50,000 people on a boat and it's not like Carnival, where if everyone flushes the toilet at the same time it creates a tsunami, it's about 600 people on a boat. and that is because this is an expedition ship intended to carry out specific missions in hard-to-reach places.
The journey aboard the ship will last approximately 2 weeks in total, the first two days we will cross the often rugged and unstable Drake Passage and finally reach Antarctica, where we will spend 4 days. The first day we board a zodiac and sail around the icebergs for in the morning and then in the afternoon we climbed a hill and walked among the chinstrap penguins. I just landed on my seven continents. Great, this is an amazing store to go against. the sun these little guys jump more than 300 feet up and down the side of the mountain when they want to go hunting for fish in the ocean these animals are incredible and they don't care that we are here they don't give me a warning or welcome call either, but They have no weapons, they are teeth, so they can't do much now.
These penguins are short and a little fat and I really wanted to pick one up like it was a soccer ball, but unfortunately they don't let you do that. that even if you try to pay them, we just take the sights, check out the penguin and don't eat the penguin some day, one day, the second day, we go out on the zodiacs again and this time, as you can see, the weather is not What cute, you know who doesn't care what happens on the water? The whales of which we saw some on the third day. We were back in the zodiacs.
To be honest, we went ashore much less often than I expected, but on this day. Fortune shone as we entered a cove absolutely packed with what the guides call whale dinner. Everyone expect at least eight or nine humpback whales wandering around and putting on quite a show, being here in this completely inhospitable place, but watching these enormous creatures thrive. It was a moment that made me marvel at this beautiful blue dot we call Earth. On day four, our last day, we went out to see a lot of Gen 2 penguins, but first let me back up and explain how these excursions work each night in the Show Lounge there is a summary where they explain the plans for the next day, including call time in Right now, we're waiting for our zodiac number to be called and then we'll go down to level three to the mud room where we finished getting.
The dressed zodiac ship B is ready to embark there, let's go to zodiac group one, you can head to deck three to prepare for disembarkation. Let's go every time we go down to battle so we don't overheat because we have three layers in these huge pants. which are waterproof waterproof jacket waterproof gloves I really look like I'm ready to go discover a new continent hello good morning right now we are entering the lobby and this is where they keep all our boots so that we don't have to store them in our room so now we are in line to get to the Zodiac here's my life jacket this is mandatory okay so we're on the third floor this is where we exit the ship to our smaller boat but first we have to scan.
Down here you can see the Zodiac and the views are incredible. From here we leave for Earth. Once on the ground, there are many strict protocols that must be followed, such as staying on certain paths and not getting closer than 15 feet. Any of the wildlife, okay, we're officially on the coast, this is very exciting because you can't really go ashore every day and when you do it only lasts about an hour, hour and a half at most, and it's still pretty. regulated, so if you thought you were going to come here and be an explorer, well, you're not, but there are still several interesting things to see right here, whale bones, there are a lot of whale bones here on the beach and the sad thing is that they don't let you. take them and turn them into a coffee table, you can't even legally touch them actually, but they look gorgeous on the hill here.
I see there are a lot of Gen 2 penguins and we are going to say hello to them. Soon, but first we have to meet up with our group, so we just started our hike and immediately see a 600 pound seal. This thing is huge. It looks like me after going to an all-you-can-eat buffet. We have arrived. On the hill right behind me you can see hundreds of these penguins, they are so short, compressed and fat. I love it, unfortunately we can't get that close to them. We are not in a zoo. This is where they really live.
It is a real natural habitat. come here and take a look inside their living room, it's great, plus they smell a lot like rotten fish and bird droppings. I see all those things around him, excrement, excrement everywhere just before we left, we were lucky to have a little friend. He walks past us pretending he was calm and collected, hey look at this old guy and then at the last moment he runs as fast as his little legs can carry him, so it's a typical hike, it lasts about an hour and is pretty stiff and strict, I thought it's just kind of land and you can walk wherever you want, but they basically tell you exactly where you have to walk, exactly where you have to stop, etc., for the most part I get it, we want to preserve this space and make it nice for the people from the future come here and we don't want to bother the animals, although sometimes they are too intense with the rules.
From here we headed back to the ship. Let's move. Once back on the boat, people could participate in a Polar. We dive into colder-than-frost waters and then head away from Antarctica toward South Georgia Island, a place teeming with wildlife, but before we see South Georgia, how about another meal? After all, there's nothing like

eating

outside on the terrace while touring Antarctica. It's time to try another meal behind me, a restaurant known simply as the grill. The main thing about this place is that it's meat and it's cooked on a rock. Let's see it here. You can see their meat selection.
We have seafood, salmon, shrimp, pork. Multiple different cuts of meat. It looks perfect, it looks beautiful, but first. We have to heat a stone so we can cook that on it. Could you walk away and come back? Okay, okay, oh, look at the waiter, okay, he's bringing me his meat, let me see your meat, sir, this is the wheel cutlet and the B primary, yes, I think I should try the F cutlet that is looks amazing, no problem, thanks. Wow, that's some big meat the man has on his plate. Boom, here it is, this is our hot stone that will soon be cooked. and then now comes the meat, yes please take it, wow, flattered with oil and sauce, it looks and smells amazing and now we wait, but in the meantime onion rings M, that one is good, here we go, oh my god, could I have done it.
I timed it more perfectly, oh hear that beautiful sizzle as you turn it, that's nice at this point, there's a nice sear on each side, but there are still parts that are pretty raw like here, so I'm going to cut it off the bone. and continue cooking, we're going to cut this side into smaller pieces. This is where all my Asian BBQ grilling skills come into play. Now I think some of these are close enough to be ready TR to get some of this back health mhm soft tender innocent youthful they put an amazing marinade on the outside before I got here it was full of oil and spices and herbs very nice right here we have a ve jeo basically it looks like a combination of ve tears and barbecue let's try it out Tasty Smokey juicy meaty deadly deception this experience shouldn't be possible but somehow it is and it's amazing on the way to South Georgia Island our boat made a brief stop at the largest iceberg in the world it's called boring a23a this thing is about three times the size of new york city and our daring captain pointed the bow of the ship directly at it and zoomed away to about a length of ship from there.
It's pretty amazing from here we continue our way towards South Georgia, welcome to South Georgia, a much warmer place. and completely different from Antarctica, in fact any of the icebergs you can see here floated from Antarctica and parked in these shallow waters. The first day we were relegated to staying in the zodiacs once again, this time due to an Aven flu outbreak that the local authorities were trying to reduce the spread of the disease, needless to say this was sad news, but the Views from the Zodiac were still spectacular. Here we were able to see macaroni penguins, the little ones with bright yellow eyebrows on the beach, we saw thousands and thousands of king penguins, some of them still melted, the Zodiac was able to get quite close and many penguins were also going in and out of the water.
I highly recommend that if you are going to Antarctica you try to add this to your trip as well on the second day in South Georgia we were finally able to go ashore. We're in a place right now where they have an outpost. Lots of buildings. They used to have a church here. People were here more than 100 years ago. Gathering whales and turning them into oil for consumption. and for the flashlights, luckily, eventually big oil reduced the demand for whale blubber, but even though you could see things like this behind me, these old ships there's a lot of wildlife, different types of penguins, seals, so We are trying to soak it up during the hour we are here because this may be the last time we will be on land with these incredible creatures.
The third day in South Georgia was the last on this day. We took a 2.5m hike to a waterfall. This was by far the best day of the trip and a perfect farewell, this place was full of wildlife, we saw sea lions, king penguins, some big fat elephant seals that looked like me after

eating

a whole pizza of Pizza Hut while we were here, it started snowing, it's our last day on land here. in South Georgia and man, amazing day, it's snowing, it's very magical. Next, we take a 3-day trip back to Puerto Williams. Funny, the trip from South Georgia to Port Williams requires 3 long days at sea, so we didn't have room. to go we made reservations for the only italian restaurant on the ship ladies and gentlemen the last restaurant on this ship that we haven't been to yet so far in the morning it's a breakfast buffet at noon it's a lunch buffet and right now larazza is an italian restaurant let's go let's see it oh hello Chef hello sir the chefs on the ship have the tallest hats of all time that's how you know it's perfect thank you very much hello sir welcome to terasa oh very good we've been here 2 seconds are bring food now, that's it bread.
I don't know much about Italian food and I can't wait to go to Italy to learn more, but what I do know is that this looks incredibly amazing. We have a variety of cured meats, cheeses, brushetta. This is called octopus salad and of course this tomato and tuna. I'm going to try it first. It tastes like canned tuna mixed with olive oil and something a little tart like pickle juice. It's delicious, it's interesting, it's different. The second thing is. This is a very Mediterranean and very lively octopus salad, it's like a bunch of small octopuses cut into cubes.
The parts are very delicious, so I'm going to eat this and then I have two dishes, a pasta and a great protein, let's wait for it to arrive. next oh well close to the end alright folks we have our first dish right here this is called spaghetti oio homemade spaghetti pasta extra virgin olive oil garlic and crushed chilies so it's actually kind of dry pasta, let's try it first of all. I've been in Asia too long. I'm used to soaking my noodles and when I don't soak them it feels eerily quiet, they taste almost buttery, they're like super delicious El Dente noodles, steaming hot, they give off tons of garlic flavor. there like my wife is going to try to stay away from me the rest of the night and then just a touch of pie with those chilis a delicious first course alright folks I've got my final course right here this is the swordfish with lime there are potatoes underneath on top with some olives a little Italian sauce Capers Tomatoes looks delicious Swordfish is not a fish I am very familiar with, let's try it health M I am very impressed, at first it tastes meaty on the outside and then it is very juicy inside M it tastes as if it has just been spread with olive oil, it has this fresh sauce on top, it is very delicious and, for once, this fish fillet is not a mistake, greetings, it is our last meal and it is Time to wrap things up.
Plus, everything my wife ordered looks so much better than mine and that's the end of our Antarctica cruise trip. Now you can see that we returned to land. There is South America and in just a few hours we will be there. enter PTO Williams and then reverse the trip, return to Santiago and eventually somewhere else tonight we will sleep in the port and then tomorrow we will leave the ship very early and in fact a whole new group of guests get on the ship and they do it. On another trip it's amazing how hard working the people on the boat are, some of them work on the same boat day in and day out for 5 to 9 months at a time depending on their contract it's crazy and one man after going around and tossing and turning and lying in bed some of these nights riding the rough waves of the ocean in this boat.
I have a lot of respect for the people who work in this industry and on this ship in particular, it was an incredible experience, there are many different ways to experience Antarctica this is what I chose this is what suited my tastes I wanted to have an experience that It would be equally amazing both on the boat and off the boat, but if you want to see Antarctica I think it's a bucket list item, find some way to fit it into your life plan or you can just work on a boat, it's also a option to get paid to explore the world otherwise that's it for this thank you so much for watching I'll see you next time peace it's crazy like it jumps.
