Easy Cinnamon Rolls Step By Step InstructionsMay 30, 2021
Good morning, today is Mother's Day and I'm sure I'll have visitors all day, so I decided to get up and make some
rolls. I'm going to make those
rollsfrom my Griffiths Family Cookbook and in the cookbook. and also in a video i have how to make bread and that bread recipe will make cinnamon rolls, makes buns, bread sticks, soup bowls, i don't know, i don't remember the rolls well, but anyway i'm going to make that recipe and you start with 10 cups of flour and to answer some questions that I've had, yes, you can cut this recipe in half if you don't want to have your pants full of cinnamon rolls and you just want one tray of cinnamon rolls and then you cut. the recipe and just cut it straight and a half but I'm making two pans and I'm using the full recipe of ten cups of flour 1/2 cup of sugar a tablespoon of salt and a half cup of oil in quite a bit yet Mix all this together.
A question I get often is what type of yeast I use and it doesn't really matter what brand I use. I've used Freshman's and Star and is SAP SAP something so they all work? Same thing and people ask me if you use instant irregular and that doesn't matter either, only if it's active it works, so I use three tablespoons of any type of yeast and then I add a little sugar. a tablespoon of sugar to that and I dissolve it in a cup of warm water and really when I make my bread or my cinnamon rolls I start with this and it rises while I make the rest of this.
I really should have started. with my yeast, but that's fine and then I let it bubble to the top so another question I get a lot is what kind of flower do I use and I use all purpose. Do I use bread flour? I only use one for all use. Purpose flour is what I always keep in my buckets and I use it for all other types of flour that you can use, it's whole wheat. I forgot to tell you that they do make some wonderful cinnamon rolls that my sister-in-law and my daughter Ruby make. their whole wheat cinnamon rolls.
I think it's great to make half white flour and half whole wheat, but give it a try. The other question I get a lot is: can you freeze dough? Yes, you can freeze the dough. You can also freeze. bread, if you freeze the dough, just know that it takes a long time to thaw, get to room temperature and then rise, so you have to allow yourself a lot of the day if you're going to freeze the dough and then use it again, you can freeze the bread and rolls and just let me show you. I bite into these grocery store sacks from the bakery and I reuse them and I reuse them and they work great or I just use an old bread sack and I and You can freeze your bread and your rolls.
I do this all the time. I let it rise a little bit, but you add that plus three cups of water, warm water and then I add half a cup of oil and then I just mix it. the best I can with the spoon and let it rest for about 15 or 20 minutes ok now that the dough has set for a little while I'm going to work it with my hands I'm going to knead it with my hands and I like to have a towel under me or In fact, I like to get on the floor because the counter is too high, but I think that for today with my dress I will do it on the counter.
I'm not going to try to work on it because today I have a lot of flour filled, it feels like I have a lot of flour and I'm not going to try to work on it sometimes the dough is a lot stickier sometimes it's a lot harder but it's going to be fine so We're just going to put a towel over this and let it rise to that height for about an hour. It will take about an hour in a warm area of the house and then we will make cinnamon rolls. This is our Griffith family cookbook and this is the basic bread recipe that we just made and it will work for the muffins and bread bowls and cinnamon rolls or buns and then today we're going to make the cinnamon rolls and now we're going to make a little bit of frosting and the frosting is just a cream. cheese frosting I'm going to show you how
easyit is to make cream cheese frosting.
It takes half a cup of butter, eight ounces of cream cheese and just cream, which together then has a teaspoon of vanilla and I've shown you how much vanilla. it's a teaspoon of teaspoons of vanilla, then you add two cups of powdered sugar and then you just scoop out the snot, how could it be cream cheese with bad sugar butter if it was just talk? I would never want to be in my feeling if it was just a night of talk. Today at home I would turn half of this into a couple of loaves of bread or some rolls, but since we have company, everyone will want cinnamon rolls, so I'm going to turn everything into cinnamon rolls, so I'm going to cut this dough down the half and I haven't worked on it at all.
I just cut it like I hit it and then I cut it in half for me it's a little bit stiffer than I like it but at least it doesn't stick to the counter and it does stick to the counter so a little bit of oil comes out or I mean , I just put it right on the counter, it's
easyto clean and I'll just put it on. a little bit of oil in there or you can put a little bit of flour in there, but I like the oil to be a little less than a quarter inch or a little less than a quarter inch.
I like to grease my pan with someone. He once told me something about contaminating my butter, but I've been doing it for 40 years. I don't think we got six men to cover the whole thing, it's just quicker for me to use my hands in butter. Ruby will use pumpkin fresh from a can, for pumpkin puree, and I haven't tried it, but I've often wondered what applesauce you have. I think the apple sauce would keep it moist and we can, that would be very good, but today using butter and a lot of it and I cook a lot with my hands, I mean, and you don't get sick, Chad, can't you be a man?
Well, none of the food, no, I don't think we've ever had food poisoning, at least from food you've cooked, maybe in one or two restaurants, but yeah, well, and that's why you always wash hands and I do it. I didn't demonstrate it before I started, but I really like washing, okay, so so you can see it. Next I put the cinnamon and I like it quite thick and I don't have raisins today or I would add some raisins. I think it would be good if we didn't have them. I have raisins doing something yes, we want a little ice there they are covered I don't want raisins for my oatmeal but it's okay, we have the raisins there a lot of cinnamon and then I put it and I don't know why I do it this way I do it because I did it my mom but she added regular sugar and then added brown sugar I don't know why I don't ask questions I just do it and then added brown sugar if you have brown sugar at home that is getting hard this is a good way to use it, It's a little hard, actually, okay, it'll melt right away, it's so good, this is hard. come on now we are cooking with both burners cooking with the oils but I think the same use it mom always said to put the edges first in the middle I didn't do that today did I accept raisins?
Yes, I mean chocolate chips. Probably the only thing I don't like is that it just doesn't sound right. I added chocolate chips and everything else I never did here. The girls have been making raspberry muffins instead of cinnamon rolls. Sounds good. This is where you put the oil. It doesn't stick to the counter when you roll it up, it's just an old trick. I always put this seam here on the inside, so when they cook in the oven, they don't open here, they open on the inside. from another so it makes sense to you mm-hmm so on this heel at the end I always put that part down so no one really knows, you don't know who has the heel because underneath it cooks very well and the top I just think They look more uniform that way.
I see this was also the heel when I put the heel side down and then we're going to let these rays take about an hour 375 for about 20 minutes if I select, I always take hey, give you a good breakfast, I know you think that, but you I will bring, I will bring you a glass of fresh milk in a jug, no one trusts the milk that comes from our gaze, it is the bowl, drink well, that's all, every time we would do it. having guests over mom would say make sure there's a gallon of fresh milk because you said Bo and dad would like it but I'm pretty sure you had more of it Julie have you ever drank anything other than milk?
Don't doubt if I would drink. no juice or soda, yeah, I could pick up the milk so we have to wash the milk and juice, oh yeah, so let's open a gallon of fresh milk when the company comes so they know it's good, you, you're okay, Lucy. Do you remember her sitting here? She ate her cinnamon roll. She's working on it. It's just that you and your brothers are still at it. Lucy. Was she okay? Lucy, she's hot. Hey? I want to introduce you in case you don't know my children. of them are here today and I'll start with my little list here's Ellie and that's her husband Jared and then we have Julie we have to get the right light I want the light right now we have Julie these two are twins no they're not actually and her husband Lander, this is my oldest granddaughter, Shari, and my oldest daughter, Ruby and Kevin, and the kids are downstairs and outside, this is the first time we've met.
