What if I told you that every single driver on the market right now travels exactly the same

distance

, there are no drivers that are longer than the others and what if someone told you that this driver is twenty or thirty yards longer than the year above, he is absolutely lying to you and let me explain. What I mean by this doesn't mean that you won't have a driver that you get twenty or thirty yards closer to, it just means that generally they can't get them any hotter, it will be illegal, so pass. In a test, they do something called a central test or coefficient of restitution and that's a very fancy way of saying how hot the driver's face is and they also hold the driver, you know, so they hold the head here in a shoe with a golf ball in the driver and let's say it goes one hundred miles per hour toward the driver's head, it's an illegal driver if it bounces at anything greater than 83 miles per hour or eighty-three percent of the return rate, that It's called point eight three cor or KO Returning the fish if it bounces at 84 miles per hour is illegal for drivers and cannot be used well as all major manufacturers ping Titleist's Cobra Callaway custom.

Any manufacturer you can think of makes very good quality clubs that they want to make. everything they can and spend millions of dollars to get as much distance as possible. Each driver, when hit in the sweet spot, bounces back at 83 miles per hour, so any driver has exactly the same heat in their face. That doesn't mean that you're not going to find a driver that actually gives you a little more distance and we'll talk about that here in a second, but I think it's very important to realize that when someone says oh, this is the best driver that exists, there is no truth to it, they are all exactly the same, so now let's talk about when you are swinging the club yourself, what is it that will allow you to hit one driver much further than another?
driver distance secrets what manufacturers won t tell you
He gave me a driver that didn't fit me at all, it would probably be 30-40 yards shorter than the driver I use and it all comes down to a few different factors. Number one is spin speed, so how fast can I spin the controller? There are several different things that go into this and we'll talk about that in a second. The second thing is the launch angle. Do I get the right launch feature? Does my ball launch high with the right amount of spin to travel the greatest distance and then the number? three, how consistent the club head is when I hit off center, so we talk about point eight, three on center, if I hit a little bit off the heel or toe or something like that, it's still going to be a pretty hot face. and that's what many manufacturers are working on, so let's first talk about spin speed whenever you choose a driver.
Another misconception people have is that they need a really expensive axle, expensive means better when I'm choosing. a driver, if I want to swing as fast as I can, I want a really light shaft, really the lightest weight I can use and still get the proper ball flight if I have a hundred gram shaft that adds weight to my club. golf. I'm not going to be able to swing as fast as if I had a 30 gram shaft and in the second part of this I'll address why not everyone uses super light shafts, but in general the light of the more weight the shaft has. club the faster I can swing the more speed I will have and the longer the club the faster I can swing so if you know this club in the 90's the average driver length was about 43 inches now the average is 45, you see a lot of 46 inch drivers and that's kind of a race to get the longest driver, while I will make a longer and longer driver.
I think up to 50 inches or so is legal. Use it, so I'm going to spin it faster if you can imagine a helicopter propeller, the inside of the propellers spins, you know, pretty fast, but the tip of the propeller spins a lot faster. The same thing happens with a golf club the longer the club the faster I can swing the club because it has a longer arm or longer radius which helps you get more speed. The disadvantages of this when I use a longer stick I get less consistency, you can imagine using a stick that is ten feet long.
I'm not going to be able to make solid contact with the ball and that happens to a small degree every time you hit a driver that is two or three inches longer, so you won't always get more consistent distance if you use a longer driver. Club, but I recommend you try one, try a slightly longer driving route and see if it gives you more distance and if you can control it, if it's going to work lighter for you. Club will help you with a shaft light if it will help you swing the club faster, but it will possibly affect your swing speed, which brings us to the second section, which was launch angle and swing speed, as well. that if I am a player with a slow swing speed, I want to do it.
Launch the ball somewhere around 16 degrees in that ballpark as the balls come off the clubface and I want to have about a thousand spins that will get the ball up in the air and help it get enough backspin to stay in the air and transport it. If I'm a high swing speed player, let's say I'm swinging 120 miles per hour, I'll swing it a little lower and have less spin because now I have more. speed when throwing the ball off the face and that will give me maximum carry, so I'm probably talking about 12 to 14 degrees thrown a little lower than the slow swing speed players and a little lower spin somewhere around of 2200 RPM would be ideal for maximum distance if you're talking about just hitting the ball as far as you can for a long hitter, so with those lighter shafts a low swing speed player will probably do quite well because the shaft lighter will give you a little more spin because the lighter shaft tends to be a little softer, it will rise a little more and that will give you a good launch for a high swing speed player, you may need a shaft a little heavier than way you can keep the spin and launch low, so that's something the manufacturers will trick you into with a lottery that you know they don't necessarily tell you, but it follows that a $500 shaft will be better for your game than a $50 chef and that's not always the case, you might be surprised to find out that manufacturers, when they make a shaft, your original shaft, if you go out and buy a replacement, costs about a hundred dollars, in They are actually spending three to five dollars on it. golf club, so it's actually very marked.
The golf club you're buying for three to five hundred dollars is somewhere between twenty and sixty dollars, that's what you're paying for it, so a lot of it is marked up. I want to promote those high end shafts so they can make a little extra money and you know you can't blame them for that, but before you go out and buy the $500 random shaft, realize what my spin speed is and what it is. my pitch, get in shape so your driver can see if I need more spin. This $500 chef will give me less spin, suitable for me and may not be.
You could buy a $1000 shaft, there are a few out there and you actually lose distance when you do that. You are doing this because you are casting with spin, it may not be correct, so I personally use a ping i15 controller. I've had this one for five or six years. I have a 69 red Series pro force. I think they are the central acts of Mamiya. controller axis so it fits my game perfectly there is no, it gives me a perfect launch, perfect spin if I hit it hard, it has the highest cor, it will give me the most distance.
I haven't found another controller that works better for me, I probably won. Although I've been using this controller, this is probably the second one I've owned because the faces tend to crack after a while, but I've been using it for about five or six years when it first came out. and that's why I don't rush to the store to buy new ones and every year you may find that some of the new drivers work very well for you and one advantage with the newer drivers is that the last thing is to have consistency, so than the expected head, they are using a lot of new materials to take weight off different parts of the head and put it in different parts in other parts to give it more consistency, so that if you hit it a little bit off the toe or on the hill, you will you get closer to that point eight three that you have in the sweet spot, so that's the only thing that new drivers can help you with the new technology: they're redistributing weight in new ways, they're using different polymers and new materials that don't they used. 10-15 years ago and especially with the larger head size which makes it much more consistent so you can go further distance, so if you are looking to gain some distance before running out and buying the latest technology, get fit. find out what your launch and spin is and then try a few different drivers, some use drivers even to see what works for you and I'll end with one last tip here to save you a lot of money, a good friend of mine.
Chris Boyce L, who I used to work with, really had the best way of testing clubs, he said, go ahead, take all the clubs the place has to test, try six, seven, eight drivers, take a swing or two with each one. from them. and if you don't like it on the first two swings, it's probably telling you that that club doesn't fit your specifications and that you don't want to try to force yourself to be able to play that club so you can get the The $600 driver takes one swing, two swings I don't feel so good with it, go ahead and put it on this side, try others, every single club I've had and loved from the first swing, I knew it was going to work. to adapt to all the expensive controllers I went out and bought, I didn't hate them and could never work the way I wanted to.
I thought it was a cool driver, I bought it and tried to adapt my game to it, so make a couple of changes, find a driver you like, you don't have to spend tons of money and go out and bomb boosters. I'll see you soon, so if you want to get big yards, this is the best way. To do that, even if you have the club that fits perfectly, technology can't do much, the best way to improve your golf swing is to get a little more lag to increase club head speed and get a really good swing. consistency that will give you You will get more results than any new driver could get.
You know that a few changes to your golf swing could add up to 30 or 40 yards to your drive depending on what you're already doing. I have a great free video coming up. here in a second it's a delayed video. I'm Clay Ballard and in today's video we are going to talk about one of the worst exercises to create lag, it is a very common exercise that I see and in this exercise what we are going to do is place the wrist very early to create a lag angle and then we are going to try to maintain this throughout the swing, it is one of the worst things you can do to generate lag.
I'm going to talk about the science behind why this is and also give you a great exercise to help you.improve your delay in this video. Let's go and starting this way versus holding that position happens exactly the same thing when we're creating lag in the golf swing, so what we want to do is throughout the swing. I want to have a very low and wide shot so I'm not going to set my wrist early if you look at a lot of the top players, you look at Adam Scott, very wide shot, not much reset, you look at Rory McIlroy, you look at Tiger Woods , all of these players are using a wide shot and not getting much wrist set so that later in the swing when we start to come down, we can increase this wrist set and we're really only going to maximize this lag angle for a fraction of a second in the descent, okay, so a three step exercise here now as we start with this.
I want to remind you that the fulcrum on this golf club to get a lot of lag is right at the end of the golf club. This is where I want my hinge point to be. I want to use its full length. of this club to generate delay and then release like you
