podcast, and of course everyone is going to say you lost. you shouldn't be doing podcasts like they said all last year during the finals and we won so let's not start let's be cool relax enjoy the episode or not if you don't want to listen don't listen but not really. i don't want to hear that this year um because you can't stand on it this year because we want the finals with me doing it is saying uh very frustrating loss today um i thought we did enough to win the

game

and yet i think we have a whole different level of things, uh, level to reach and things we can do, you know, to counter his attack, you know, and we'll talk about that a little bit.

I lost the game 126 123 for being pretty honest, you know, having Steph with a chance to tie the game and go to overtime. I didn't think we played very well, I thought we played pretty well, but I think there are a lot of things he can do better, so just with that, you know you have to feel decent about the game and about where we can go. like no, like we lost the game we're down 0-1 and you have to find a way to get game two now. I'm saying that, uh, this is the playoff scene. You've got to win one along the way whether that's game one two five or seven doesn't really matter uh you'd rather be sooner rather than later but we know we understand that and we won't back down on that uh dear Fox finished the game with 38 and five assists we definitely have to um do better on Fox uh, you know he had five 3-pointers um and that wasn't really expected, but he shot the ball well.

and he was saying he needed to take more shots and um you know he took it tonight he knocked him down uh you know you have to live with it you have to give something up and you know he hit the shots tonight uh you know the next one game you want to make it a little harder for him if you can but uh when making a game plan there are things you will live with and things you want and can't live with is de'

fox being a counter strike woman you can't live with him getting into the paint every possession uh those are tough things to handle um Malik

monk

had a game off the bench 32 points uh dear Fox he can get 38 points and you know he's obviously capable but more than capable even if he didn't this night of getting 38 points and but you can't give up 32 to Malik

monk

Off the Bench now Malik's amazing player hey you know he's two of four of three so it wasn't a three point line but it went downhill and he put a lot of pressure on our defense uh he was shot 14 Fritos and he was 14-14 from the line uh you might have seen me talking to him those last two free throws as a man you owe us one like you know you pass your percentage now i think that numbers have to play you always want me to take him down huh but he had a great game Trey Lyles also had a great game off the bench huh Trey louds had 17 points off the bench so there it is right there like you give up 49 points off the bench for two guys it's hard to top that 17 offensive rebounds so we gotta know their offense when when nobody had anything going what kept them in the game was offensive rebounds and you know if you're in a situation like that when you're on the other side you're watching that game or you're in that game and you think we're not playing well and we're right here, but how do you understand what I told you there?

It was the offensive rebound, so that's something we have to clean up. We know we're a rebounding team when you look at it and it's going to be a five man effort huh they're breaking the boards from the corner from the top they're sending everyone to the glass so it's going to be a five man effort huh clearing the boards if it's long rebounds we have to make sure we come back and get those rebounds huh but we didn't do a good job tonight and ultimately it ended up costing us the game so those are a couple of things we could have done better Steph um ended up with 30. uh, he started to get it going after that first quarter and you can see, uh, you know, figure out his points and read the defense and see what you know, figure out his coverages and once he figured them out, he went started. uh Wiggins Wiggins scored 17 points off the bench in 28 minutes uh we're a different team with wigs here uh we're a different team when we have wigs and you know the first game back uh he's one of eight out of three with some shots who will usually hit and I don't doubt he will hit them, uh, you know, the first game back, you don't have your legs under you, um, you know, and come back in that intense size game, uh you know, kudos to the wigs we need them we will need them to keep getting better and better and at a fast pace and i have no doubt he will have looked great in matches so it wasn't a surprise he got to that um says a lot about him and you know the things he was at home dealing with uh that he's out there now uh to stay fit and come back for this team uh ready to go for this race it's huge and you know it's something we can build on so I definitely expected the wigs to stay aggressive. in the corner to put us too late in the game living on that shot so it's great to have wigs back and like I said it's going to continue to improve defensively as well even though I was all court on that end huh getting a little bit creating some fumbles and uh, you know, I came up with a few rebounds.

I like I like. um. I also know by saying that. on both sides of the ball, they did a good job throwing different defenses and when they did throw those defenses, I thought we had good looks, we just missed them and with the shooters we have, I trust that. those looks are going to come in, so we have to keep doing what we're doing moving on to basketball. a lot of it where the offense picks up to allow those guys to get going, then once they get going it's tough so I think we found some things in this game that we can develop on.

I think we're going to give 49 points to two guys off the bench and that's going to be huge for us, you know, looking forward to Monday's game, you know, going out there and getting a win and coming home one on one and home. home court advantage which will be big for us huh Obviously we've done a great job taking care of the home court all year so we can come back 1-1 uh that's going to be huge that's going to be huge and I have no doubt in my mind uh we'll make adjustments and what we'll do so i'm looking forward to it uh monday is going to be fun it was a really fun day uh overall like you feel that energy man it was a great environment the way we play in that environment it's a team a organization a city that hasn't seen playoff basketball in 16 years and they were ready and it was loud and fun like miss that atmosphere atmosphere very fun to play and the fans brought it uh they were good but i thought we handled it well uh, we stayed there in the game and ultimately we didn't come out on top, so uh speaking of fun, um, there were other games that took place today as well, the Knicks. they beat the Cavaliers 101 to 97.

Jalen Brunson finished with 27 after having just six points in the first half. half of that the Knicks were protecting Jalen Brunson with uh I mean excuse me the Cavs were protecting Jalen Brunson with Darius Garland and I have to say DG surprised me I didn't realize DG had become so strong uh, Jalen wasn't just bullying when I saw him. but he hit a couple of spin jumpers now frankly if you're not giving up something straight to the rim you live with the spin jumper you know Jalen's lefty so he likes to spin over his left shoulder with the fade though that's a shot of Jalen Brunson like him he lives with that shot he often tries to get to that shot as much as you want you live with it it's hard when that's exactly what he's dealing with to get there and usually you know how we protected him last year when we played him with the mask.

I protected him because you know he's trying to get to midrange so it'll be interesting to see what they're going to do to combat that because Jalen Brunson is a problem, he's been a problem all year, um, you know, and he's not going anywhere. part, so it will be interesting to see what they do with their matchup, which is why they had a hard time with okoro on the court, who is one of the best. Wing Defenders had to talk to Osmond because they just clogged the floor and he didn't take a shot so we know the calf strength is there in his length in his size Donovan Mitchell had a great game huh 38 8-5 uh, Donovan Mitchell was one of the top five players in scoring average in NBA history as far as the playoffs go, so you know seeing him have another great game doesn't surprise you, but you'd also like to see that uh with a win. , especially keeping them to 101 points huh yeah that was a good game I think it's going to be a good series I can see the Series going six or seven huh because it's going to be a good series and I also expect the Cavs to go out there and get next game but it's tough especially when you can't play your best Wing Defender it gets tough so like I said we'll see what their adjustments will be. that matchup goes, uh, Julius Randle's first game back 19 10 and four, uh, and Josh Hart was out of it, he was great.

Off the bench I finished that game with 17 and 10 and I also saw him hit that huge three from the top of the key uh after the cavs took the lead and I was a big three and again there's things you'll live with and things you want Josh R hits a big three you have to live with that Jalen Brunson or Julius hits the three you hope you do something to catch those guys and take it from them Josh har hiss you have to live with that uh Josh Hart big shot big Josh Hart game great acquisition uh midseason acquisition for the Knicks helped him out today which is great huh Celtics Celtics were up 30 at halftime.

I saw that Jackson is here throwing up gang signs or something because, as everyone knows, he's happy with the Celtics. I heard that Jackson is worried about the Celtics. uh Jalen Jalen Brown cut his finger and reopened it didn't seem like it affected him much the game he had uh scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds and JT 25 and 11 um but that's something to watch that's something to watch uh you keep cutting that finger and start to worry. I saw that he said his grip was a concern, so I guess we need to watch that, um, but they handled it pretty easily.

Trey Young didn't shoot well. Deshante was 24 but he was old for six or more eight out of the three, I was hoping both guys would play better, um, and I was hoping Atlanta would put up another fight, I mean, a better fight, you know? Does that mean they even won one game? I don't know but I hope those two guys play well and last but not least the 76ers against the Nets. James Harden got off. James Harden made three-pointers. I saw something of this game. I saw the Nets double-team Joel and B no matter where he caught. the ball and the 76ers fought that by hitting 21-3 and that's what you'd expect huh when they double team um and win every play because that's what they're going to do they're going to double down and B don't want me to win them they're going to make other guys their shots those guys their shots today we'll have to see if they can do that for the rest of the series if Jock sticks to his game plan or he'll trade it to me personally I think you've got to keep doing those guys on shots because one thing Joel is going to score so you have to live with something and you know you're not living with Joel doing what Joel does there's not one person on the nest team that can stop Joe lmb not a lot of people in the league, if there is one, that can stop Joel and B, but there's definitely no one on the next team, so I'm sure they'll keep sending that double and you have to fly. turn around and try to make those guys miss those 3-pointers that hit them tonight, we'll see if they can do it again, um, but yeah, good first day of basketball.

I look forward to getting back to the drawing board tomorrow to make our adjustments.
