Dragon Eye Phone Grip art

Jun 04, 2021
happy day, I'm going to try to record a tutorial, uh, for

phone

grip

s, uh, my kids are at home, they're really quiet right now, so if you don't know what a

phone

grip

is, this is what It's a phone grip. on the back of your phone you stick it on, I sell them in my etsy store, I create them all myself and it's basically a stand for when you want to watch things and it's also awesome to hold while you're lying in bed so no you drop your phone on your face, so it's a good grip too, it's just a good grip and I feel like I'm not going to lose my phone when I have this on there, so I always start by taping the outside edge. very good, very tight, I go all the way around the outside edge and then I press all that down and cover it and then I put more tape on the bottom to cover the little hole there.

Now I roll up my sleeve, I buy my little blank phone grips in bulk. I'm going to use my compass to make a circle like I always do. I'm going to make a small circle. This one is too big, so you'll see me make a smaller circle, yes, too big, but I'm going to do it anyway. erase that because it's erasable, it's just a pencil and then I'm going to start over because it wasn't as big as I wanted it to be. I have a link in the description where I purchase mine from my phone grips in bulk.

More Interesting Facts About,

dragon eye phone grip art...

They're not called pop sockets, they're called phone grips and pop sockets are a brand, um, so you could get in big trouble if you call them pop sockets, so please don't do that. These are phone grips that's why I call them phone grips because they're not the brand pop socket they're Rachel rocks uh even though they're not rocks anyway I sell them in my etsy store and I make all kinds of them and I thought maybe it was time to do another

dragon

eye, um this time. I'm going to make it in a different color, it's going to be blue and purple and it's going to be on the phone grip, so if you're a big

dragon

fan and you want a dragon eye grip on your phone, I'm going to switch. one and I'll show you what it looks like on my phone at the end of the video when they're all done, but I'm going to do a couple of them, although I'll just show you this one and then at the end. in the resin reveal there will be like five of them for you to look at so i started with a dark peacock uh well not really dark but that's the darkest color i'm putting here uh it's peacock blue by martha stewart and I did it , I went around my circle with my pencil, I covered it with paint, so I just used paint and went around the circle in that dark color and then I went in with jungle green with a sponge, a finger sponge, a link for those who are in the description.

Also, now I'm going to use a very, very light blue. It is a very light blue. I think let me check it. I will do that. It's a calypso heaven. I will list all paint colors in the description. That was not clear. enough for me, so I'm adding a little bit of white and I'm just lightening with the sponge in the center of oh lord, you guys know I don't mean to do this to you, but I just got notifications, wait, okay? I think I fixed it well, so now, since I don't have a metallic blue that I want to use, I'm mixing a little bit of gold into that peacock blue that I originally started with and I'm going to use my fine liner brush. do some veins on the eye shortly with that color so I'm going to show you in a moment first we're going to find our eye because right now this looks like a mask what are you doing rachel so now we are? you're going to find our pupil, which is going to be, you can round it at the bottom, you can be more like toothless and have a rounded pupil or you can be like dragons or alligators or even cats where there's a dot at the end, you make your pupil, however you want, I'll do it like this, some of them will be wider on the other phone grips that I show you at the end of the video, their pupils look different because they're all different dragon eyes, so, so.
dragon eye phone grip art
Yeah, that's what we're finding now we're going to let it dry and I'm just adjusting it so you can see it a little bit better so we're going to let it dry and I'm going to add some chrome powder it's like a bluish color as you can see here it's very , very fine it's nail powder or chrome powder uh visit the pink chair dot ca they have a lot of chrome stuff right now uh and all the different colors this is like a blue-green um, but any fine, fine, fine glitter, even eyeshadow glitter, it will work if you have a very fine glitter, so look in your eyeshadow palettes, if you're not doing makeup, use it for your rocks, okay, that's what I've done in the past . um, so here we're going to go back, we're going to leave that shine there, I'll cover it with mod podge or dura clear or something like that later, but now I'm just going to take my thin liner. brush and make some very fine veins on the eyes.
I don't even like the word vein. I just don't even like it. um and I'm just going to put these very, very fine little doodles. You can hardly see them when you turn it the other way because it's gold mixed with blue so it's like metallic but you really can't it doesn't look very noticeable right now but when you hold it up it doesn't really stand out okay ? Only under certain lights will you see those veins and that will make the eye look a little more realistic. If that's what you're looking for now. I haven't made a dragon eye in a long time, but I will link my dragon eye, I have both toothless and I also have another one, so I will link both in the description of this video.
Now I'm taking my fine liner brush again and we're going to find the shape, so find the shape of your eye. I cut off the top half of the eye a little, but just rounded under the bottom of the eye. I just followed that circular shape and uh, and now we're going to To get rid of all that excess blue that's on the outside of the black, we're just going to go over it with some white paint and I'm going to start with a brush, but then I'm going to remove it with a sponge because it gives a nice appearance. even coverage and I'll probably have to apply two coats of white paint over that to cover all that mess because we don't want to see that anymore.
Now you can do this on the black phone grips. I showed you a black one. At first I'll show you a couple of the ones I've made. In fact, I've only made one with a black foam grip, so I'll show you that one at the end of this video, just make them a little bit. a little bit different, you have to start by priming the circle where you want your eye to be and then leave the rest black and then go from there or whatever, it's completely up to you, so I'll use my little um, it's a homemade DIY, I guess I call it a blending brush, but it's just a brush that you cut into short little bristles and it helps me like a sponge does with blending, so for small areas like this where I don't want to mess up my eyeball I just want to blend. this purple part, as you can see, this time I'm making a purple dragonite dragon, blue eyes, purple scales, um and it's going to be light purple, so it could even be a girl, but it could also be a boy.
Also, I don't really care so I'm just adding some perfect purple here, it's folk art. All the colors will be listed in the description of the video I use on this phone grip today, but I'm a huge one. purple fan and who are my purple lovers, please comment here, comment on this video, let me know if you love purple as much as I do. I love purple. And I have two children who don't like purple. No, I don't wear them purple, but I really try. I try to make them my color. So yeah, today I decided to make a purple one just for you, but you can choose any color you want.
I'm sorry. about the blur it'll come back into focus in a moment there we are um and don't worry about my short nails i decided to cut them all off and give them a break and they look like a mess they needed a break i'm going to be gardening so i don't really care if i don't have nails on right now uh I also miss my guitar I miss playing my guitar I can't do that with long nails on one hand anyway, but right now I'm using my little blending brush one more time to sponge out some of these harsh lines from the purple and I'm going to add a little bit of white in there while the paint is still wet so that it blends well and is like a smooth transition from white to purple, I don't want it to be just all purple, I just want the edges of the flakes to be darker , so that's what I'm going to look for, but we'll see. how it turns out in the end you guys let me know and please let me know what color you are going to choose.
Which is your favorite color. They look great in blue. With blue eyes. They look great with red scales and like yellow and orange. red eye um I have a holographic glow dragon eye that I'll show you at the end. I can't go without the shine, there's always shine and always gold in my dragon eyes, no matter what I promise, we've already begun. glitter on the eyeball, but there will also be glitter on the scales. I'm going to use it as a violet chrome dusting powder and you don't need a top coat for this, for this method that I'm doing, it's just just putting like applying it directly onto the acrylic paint and then I cover it with duraclear why do I still call it duraclear?
Let me check because it's called triple thickness it's called deco art Americana triple thickness glitter brush on glitter polish and I just have a little bottle of that on my desk and it's basically used to hold the glitter in place that's what I use it for so it doesn't stick. go nowhere when you resin it. I don't want the blue glitter on the purple and I don't want the purple glitter on the blue I don't want it in the pupil I don't want it where it's not supposed to be so we have to be very careful to make sure we put something on top of our glitter to hold it instead, so I'm going to be very simple with these scales.
I'm not doing anything really fantastic about it. A super easy fine liner brush. I also have a tutorial for this. Please be sure to watch all my videos. I had a couple. of people asking me on Facebook do you have a tutorial for this? do you have a tutorial for this? And it takes me a lot of time in my day to respond to everyone, so please check out my list of videos on my YouTube channel. I have over 200 videos to choose from so they are all there and free and I list all the items I use in the description so you can decide if you want to use them or not.
I'm not hiding anything, let's just say you guys have all my tricks. I'm not going to hide it from you, so I'm going to do another phone grip tutorial with alcohol inks and it'll probably be out tomorrow, so you'll get this one today. and another tutorial tomorrow for phone grips, so get your phone grips ready guys, they're so much fun. I don't have a gripless phone anymore because they just make me feel safer with my phone like I wouldn't. it slides out of my hand and when I take a lot of pictures of my rocks and stuff, having that phone grip to hold it while I organize my rocks and take pictures is a lot easier so I always have one on me. my phone and they look pretty it's like art that you carry with you on your phone so I have a lot to choose from usually in my etsy store so if you're interested check out some of the things that I've made um and I also have tutorials of phone grip in my list of videos, but I will link some of them in the description of this video also just for all of you, there are dots, there are mixed, there are some good things in there, so take a look and you can use your art on your phone and show it to the world not to mention no longer dropping your phone on your face.
I also like to add Swarovski crystals and things like that to my phone grips, but not on these. because where you would put them, I don't know, I could find somewhere, I could definitely find somewhere, so I did the same thing with all my scales, some of them are darker than others, just mixing that perfect purple and I. I'm going to get rid of some of the white area, not all, I'm just going to put where there would be scales underneath, so I also colored that in purple and I outlined the scales in black. You sure separate all your scales using black.
Sorry for my giant hand in the way, but all the scales have been outlined. I used a gray as a mix of black and white, I made a very dark gray to surround the outside of the blue. I don't even know what that area is where the tear ducts are and that's all dark gray and now I'm using watered down black paint with my blending brush and I'm putting a shadow here because that eyelid stands out. of the eye a little bit, so you want to separate those two and put a shadow there, so I'm just mixing watered down black paint, make sure you sponge it off, don't have too much there and there you have a shadow that brings it will be a little more alive just a little bit, but we're going to do the bloop bloop part where we're going to liven things up with a little bit of white paint and that's going to happen shortly, but first we're going to use the triple thickness material that I was Talking about this, these are a few little ones disposable eyeliner brushes that I bought on Amazon.
You can get them in a pack of 200 and they work fantastic for small things, you can also cut the bristles and make thin liner brushes like the ones I make, but yeah I'm just using this to puttriple thickness where the shine is. I want to cover the shine. I don't want the glare to flow onto my pupil. I want that to stay black, I don't want it to flow into the gray area next to the eye, I don't want it to go anywhere, so we're going to put triple thickness on that part to liven it up a little bit there because of some light flecks. they shine now as it dries, I'm going to use a little bit of purple chrome powder, it's a very light purple color, and I'm going to apply a little bit on there with a makeup brush and just a little bit. kinda just want the flake bits to shimmer and shine a little bit, but try not to smear all over your black.
You don't want your black to shine and I'm just going to sweep it across the top of your eyelid. there, that dark purple area, I'm going to go over there to make it shine and have a different shine than the eye, so it's totally different and now I'm going to go in with my triple thickness, you can use mod podge, you can use any type of quick sealer, that type of glue that dries clear and just keeps the glitter in place. You can use a little glue that dries clear. It's totally up to you what you use for that, but just make sure it dries clear and then. resin it once it's completely dry, don't try to resin it before because you will have some peculiar little malfunctions that will occur with your resin, so here are the golden boys I'm going to separate that eyelid from the eye.
It's a little bit the same up here and I go around the outer edge of the eyeball, but I keep that black line there, the black outline. I go outside the black outline with the gold and that just gives it something to Yo, here are our bloop bloops and I guess you guys don't mind if I call them that, they're just little reflections and you do the best you can with them. I'll put it right above the pupil and take it out. top of the blue to make it look like it's actually shining on that pupil, so there you go, what do you think is going to dry?
I'm going to let it dry. I'm just going to fix my little bloops. a little, what do you think? I want to know what colors they are going to choose because I have them. Here we go. I'm going to show you that this one has a green glow and a green eye. This one has red. I haven't finished this one yet, but you will see them resined. I'm going to do the resin reveal right now. This is absolutely my favorite part. You know what the resin revelation is. Here it comes, are you ready? It is the brilliance of each individual. the scale looks beautiful and the sparkle in the eye gives it life it gives it depth it's so pretty guys I love them I really fell in love with them while making them uh for this tutorial I really fell in love and luckily when you get my phone grips or you buy phone grips like these you can change the tops so if you're ever bored or you're the type of person who likes to change things up a phone accessory like this that you want. so you can change it just like your wardrobe, so you can change tops whenever you want and put them back on whenever you want, so you can collect as many of these from my etsy store as you want and just keep changing. um, this is a beautiful red one that I showed you that wasn't complete yet, but now it is and it looks fantastic, that red glow is just beautiful, um, here comes a blue and a blue, its blue scales, blue eye, don't forget to use my discount code to get some chrome powder on the pink chair uh my discount code is 10 off and it's rachel mitchell um and you can use eye shadows or you can also get chrome powder on Amazon.
